It had been a very long day for Zekigne. Not to say that others didn't have a long day either, but. When you have the voices of your angelic and demonic natures warring inside your head throughout the entire very long, stressful, and very work filled day, it only made the day longer and worse. Zekigne wanted to escape, and escape fast. Normally he just locked and barricaded himself in his room. Isolating himself from everyone he could possibly isolate himself from. Today however, he just.. He just couldn't. He didn't want to be locked cup anywhere, but he needed isolation. So.. He went to the forest.

There was a nice forest near the campus, resting against the mountainside. Zekigne was currently walking through the forest, hoping he could relax at least a little bit. It was true that his angelic nature was speaking a lot, but it was a nice break from the demonic influence. And besides, there wasn't much here that would risk his life, nor invade his privacy. Not really. For the first time in a long time, his muscles were able to relax. He could move his arms and legs loosely. And since ages, there was a ghost of a smile on his face. He heard the sound of a waterfall and walked over. He kneeled down and placed his hand in the water. 'I should look for any thirsty animals. Lead them over here. I hope they aren't lost.' Zherrai shook his head gently. 'No.. They know their way around. I trust them with a sense of direction than I trust myself, heh.'

Anarra walked through the forest, her antlers brushing the branches of the trees around her. She still wasn't used to being constantly surrounded by people, much preferring the company of animals, so she had come here to spend some time alone. Here, under the trees, away from civilization, she felt truly at peace. She had shrunk from her normal size, which was 20 feet, to 12 feet so she could move about the forest easier. The ground at her hooves sprung to life wherever she walked; flowers bloomed and plants grew a little taller. Animals chirped and chattered as they moved around their home.

The sunlight felt nice to the half-breed, who had been missing the warmth for the past few months. But now that spring was arriving, the air was warmer, and she could travel outside without losing energy. The sun boosted her energy, making her feel more awake. The ants crawling on the ground, the birds singing in the trees, the squirrels and other creatures residing here told her of the activities they had done during the day, and the things they had seen. Nothing dangerous was in the area, according to them, so she let herself relax.

The sound of rushing water drew her attention, and making her way towards it, Anarra moved towards it until she saw a river. The water was moving, but not at a rapid pace. It wasn't exactly calm, but it was slow enough for the fish to gather in schools beneath its surface, looking at her curiously. Raising a hoof, she stepped into the river. Then began slowly walking until she was completely standing in it. The water was cold, but not so much that it would endanger her safety. It was refreshing.

She could hear the sound of a waterfall close by, but chose not to go towards the source. She instead stayed where she was, lowering her head and taking a few drinks of water. Unaware that someone else from the Academy was beside the waterfall she was close to.

Zekigne shifted until he was sitting down by the water. Keeping his hand in the water, he enjoyed the coolness slowly drop his temperature. The combination of the water engulfing his hand and wrist, and the sun warming him from above was very comfortable to say the least. Zekigne closed his eyes and smiled, enjoying the quiet. The songs of birds and the steady beat of the waterfall. He let his mind wander where it would, simply resting in this area. Soon however he opened his eyes quickly as he felt something. His powers. He looked at his hand and noticed that he was making the water in the area even more pure and clean. If it was just that he wouldn't have a problem with it, but he noticed he was beginning to turn the water around his hand into holy water.

Zekigne yanked his hand out swiftly, not knowing how this would effect the wildlife. Would it hurt them? 'No, I have helped them keep evil at bay. But what if this causes any who drinks it to be driven to do good things? I don't want to take away their free will...' That's when he noticed something. He turned and saw a massive deer that was... Made of, branches and vines? And its head... It's head had nothing on it's skull, it was.. Just a skull. His eyes widened to this sight and his jaw dropped. He didn't move. Not one centimeter. He didn't want to scare it away... Or draw it's attention and be charged at for trespassing or anything. He doubted it was carnivorous but, it had a skull for a head... Who knows what it ate.

'Someone is here.' The fish said to Anarra as she drank the water, swimming around her. 'Someone watches. Someone close.'

The half-breed watched as a small school of the fish separated from the rest and swam upstream, following them with her gaze. Lifting her head, looking with her empty eye sockets, she turned her attention to the creature they had told her about. The fish were curiously gazing at a blonde haired boy, who was sitting near the river. His jaw was open, and he was staring at her, eyes wide.

She tilted her head slightly as both confusion and curiousness swarmed her mind.

Why was he alone? Why wasn't he with his own kind? Perhaps he too liked to be alone at times. It was possible, if he was here instead of in the safety of the city. He'd very clearly seen her. She was surprised he hadn't ran away screaming in fear. Most humans that saw her tended to react in that way. As to her feelings on whether or not he saw her, she didn't particularly care. But it would be problematic if he ran back and told the inhabitants there was a monster in the forest.... the place she liked to visit in her free time would no longer be safe for her to roam about as she pleased. At least, not in her true form, which she felt the most comfortable in.

The boy's jaw was still open, and he was still looking at her. Was he going to scream? Yell? Or was he going to say something? After studying the expression on his face, she concluded that he seemed surprised, though she wasn't able to tell if he was afraid of her or not. In either case, perhaps it would be better if she left.

She took a step backwards.

The strange, and albeit kind of creepy deer like creature that was much bigger than he thought possible.. Or logical.. Turned it's head to look at him. He gulped as the empty sockets of it's skull sent a shiver down his spine. 'It should be the one shivering in fear of me-' Zekigne shook his head, panic beginning to rise. Why was this happening? Why now? Why couldn't he just deal with his angelic nature instead?! 'I don't need-' Zekigne closed his eyes tightly and repeated a calming chant in his mind. When he stopped the voice he looked up again and noted that the being hadn't moved just yet. However...

When the strange being took a step back he had another reaction. He felt a sudden urge to launch forward and destroy it. Shred it before it shows any aggression towards him. His body even tried to shoot forward, but he was able to hold it back, gritting his teeth as he focused on stopping it. Annara would have seen him attempt to leap forward, but then would appear as if he was being grabbed from behind and held down.

Anarra was even more confused now. The boy had seemed like he was trying to run. But... why wouldn't he run away from her instead of towards her? And why did he stop? The expression on his face told her he was dealing with a conflict of some sort. Perhaps he was conflicted between running past her to escape or running the other way. Either direction made no difference to her. She didn't plan on chasing the boy down, no matter which direction he chose. She wasn't an aggressive being, except when others harmed forest creatures or other animals. Or if they harmed the nature around them. This boy was doing neither.

It seemed as though he needed her aid at the moment. He looked like he was being held down by something, though she couldn't see anything. If she was over there, she would be able to aid him better. So, knowing that if she moved to quickly it might make the boy frightened, Anarra took a step forward, slowly making her way towards him. She also slowly shrunk her size down as she neared him. If she was smaller perhaps she would appear less threatening.

Zekigne's heart began to race as his will clashed with his nature. Part of him pushed his body to move forward, while part of him pushed for his body to remain motionless. It also didn't help that the eyeless being was just staring at him. After that however, the creature began to slowly walk towards him. Shrinking in size as it did so. Zekigne's eyes widened as it approached, and his body shook. Torn between the desire to run, and the nature to attack. In the end he managed to keep his body totally and completely still as it approached.

Anarra shrunk her size until she was the same size as the boy she approached, and eventually stopped in front of him, standing on the riverbank instead of in the river itself. The plants in the area brightened and bloomed, and the chirping of the animals grew louder as they greeted her. Looking over him, she could see nothing holding him there. No strings or ropes. Wanting to see if there was an invisible creature holding onto him, she walked around him, gently nosing his back and sides. There was nothing there.

She circled back around to face him once again. Investigating had given her no answers, so she had to ask him herself. After a few moments, she spoke. "Human, why do you stand there? What keeps you rooted to this spot?" Her tone was curious. She wanted to know what caused his current state. It seemed that fear was the likely answer, but she wouldn't know for sure unless she heard it herself.

As his heart beat faster and faster, the more difficult it was to keep his demonic nature in check. Soon she was nearly on top of him. Despite his best efforts, his breathing was extremely heavy. When it nosed his back and sides, his demonic nature spiked... It was a miracle he didn't strike the creature then and there, but he managed to keep it in check.. With mental pains as a result that is. Then.. It spoke?! Zekigne quite literally fell backwards from the realization, and the sudden voice itself, landing on his back with an 'oof'.

The instant he was able to focus again, he focused on the being. 'That thing will pay for making me look like a fool!' he thought before shaking his head violently. Panting greatly, he looked again, and saw that the life of the vegetation around it was growing more vibrant. 'I should offer it my aid, regardless of what it needs.' Zekigne's hand twitched as he nearly grabbed his head to stop the voices. "Y-y-you can talk?!"

The boy was surprised, Anarra noted. Surprise was a better reaction than fear, so she was grateful for it. Seeing him fall down, she nosed him back to his feet, gently pushing him up and stepping back again when he'd regained his footing. "I can." She replied, nodding. "My parents taught me well in that area. Though reading and writing was something they lacked in skill of. It is something I'm currently working on at the moment."

She studied him for a moment before speaking again. "Are you from the city?" She didn't recognize him. Not that she knew the names and faces of many humans in the first place. She barely knew any in the school besides a very few. Was this boy a student? Or just a city local?

He nearly freaked out when she moved him again, pushing him to his feet. He stabled himself just enough to not fall over again. 'I'll kill her for treating me like a-' Zekigne shook his head, managing to stop the voice. She began to explain to him that she could in fact speak. That her mother and father taught her how to speak the language of humans, though she could not read nor write. She then asked him if he was from the city. Zekigne, still a little shocked from the fact that he was talking from a plant deer with a skull for a head whom could change her size at will and speak... Well his mouth opened and closed but nothing came out the first few times. "I-I'm, not from.. From the city. I live in the country side, I... I'm just, staying at the Academy... Until I can, learn.. How to.... I-i-it doesn't matter what I'm there to learn, just that I'm learning.. Yeah... That's what matters...."

Ah. So that was it. "So you are a student?" The half-breed asked. "I am attending the school myself as well. Although I admit it is difficult for me to adjust being in such a place. Humans and other creatures are much different than animals. More... complex."

Yes, they definitely were. Animals had emotions and intelligence, it was true. But a vast majority of them weren't as confusing as humans were. They didn't express their emotions in a multitude of ways like humans did. With humans, each individual expressed emotions differently. This always made it hard for her to tell exactly what someone was feeling. "I am in the school because I want to learn as much as I can. There is so much I still don't know." That, and she wanted to find not only a few of her own kind, but hopefully search for information on a special hidden place that she'd dreamed of finding her entire life. A place that was rumored to hold an artifact which could - according to rumors - purify those that went within range of it and change things back to how they were before.

Upon hearing her ask for confirmation that he was in fact a student, he slowly nodded in response. Why was he telling this... He didn't even know what it was. Why was he still talking to it? Was this one of those 'demon deal' things? It didn't look violent or demonic though.. Well the skull head could count he guessed. 'In that case, I should probably--Not do anything!' He gave a quick gasp. Interrupting his nature was difficult... Then she told him she was a student too.

Zekigne's eyes widened with fear, to the point where he barely heard her next words. She was a student too?! He had to get away from here. He didn't want people getting to know him. If they wanted to be friends he'd never stay alone. If he was never alone, then the chances of him exploding and revealing the truth would increase dramatically. And if that happened... The Faculty knew his secret, but could they protect him from the students? He shuddered at the thought and snapped back into it. She was talking about, learning as much as she could? He thought? "Oh uh, yeah.. Same here..."

Anarra studied the boy. His eyes were wide as he looked at her, and he seemed almost afraid. "Did something I said frighten you? I apologize if that's the case. I'm not used to speaking with humans. Sometimes things I say are not understood properly."

Which happened more often that she would like to admit. There were some words that she had first thought meant one thing, but turned out to have a completely different meaning entirely. Or words that looked the same but had two different meanings depending on how you used them. Communicating with beings other than animals was hard for her, but she liked to think she was getting better at it.

"What is your name, if you do not mind answering? I am called Anarra."

She recognized his fear.. Damn it he thought. 'If only I killed her, this wouldn't be-' Zekigne shook the thought away yet again. She asked if she said something wrong and apologized, seemingly chastising herself for not knowing any better. 'I have to make her happy, tell her it's not her fault. That I'm afraid, but I'll help--I must silence her through death or torture bef-' Zekigne shut his eyes again and recited his mental chant. "N-n-no.. No, you..... It's ok.... I'm not, just. Sorry.." Eventually they got to the part where they were sharing names. Great.... He felt like he was backed into a corner at this point. "I-I'd rather.. I just........... Zeke..."
