welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Perhaps the Sacrementum couldn't directly push him into a moon phoenix, but the effects on his mood and decision making processes could absolutely skew it further in that direction. As if cutting his own limbs off and giving the girl pieces of himself wasn't horrific enough, somehow that still wasn't the worst thing he'd endured. Dismembering yourself was worse than death for a phoenix, though. Either way, this last rebirth was his worst yet. The moon god's gentle hisses on his already tainted and violent temperament swayed him. His responses to the various stressors and cross roads played back for him in his own purgatory were fueled by the darkness in his heart, with little question otherwise.
Fang had been notably different since yesterday. He hatched from his egg with little confusion, his few moments of child like innocence replaced by a calculating gaze that never left the blonde unless she moved out of sight. His formally vibrant carmine hair and eyes were more of a blood or wine hue now, making his paling skin that much whiter. His descent into darkness gifted him a personality to match his inky black feathers she asked for. He stood brazenly at the bars of the cage, threatening vibes oozing off of him. "You know you can't hold me here forever. You don't have the time...and I'm very patient. What do you plan to do with me once you're finished?" he mused, voice sounding a bit lower but much silkier. He didn't obey her demand for feathers, only tilted his still-human head.

The change in the bird was something to behold; the stressors she had added on top of the sacramentum was fast to make the phoenix change not only in mood and behavior, but in his appearance as well. It took him less time to grow out of childlike innocence, it seemed, his hard gaze cast in her direction the instant he saw the light of day after a rebirth.
Finally, the time came where he was not quick to follow her demand. It was a long time coming really; Inglisse was surprised that he had obeyed her for as long as he had. It seemed he was either getting truly fed up with captivity, or this was simply an effect of the dark rebirths and sacramentum exposure. At his threatening demeanor, the girl only grinned, hearing him out before speaking. “I’m glad you’re patient," the girl answered slightly sarcastically. It was necessary to be patient given the place he was in, after all. "Once I’m done with you, I’ll either let you go or find some means of permanently ending your existence. It will be your choice, and dependent on whether or not you behave and earn it,” she answered honestly, arms crossed comfortably.
Perhaps he thought he could outlive her, which was an amusing thought. If she did manage to die, she would welcome it. However, it seemed that her aging was slower from the sacramentum and she had too much time ahead of her. Her own life could not be taken, even though she had tried. The abyssal energy made sure of that much. Would age actually do her in? Of course, the phoenix was not entitled to any of that information. Unflinching, her amber eyes stared back at him. Would he give her the feathers, or finally put up a fight?

Oh, so she'd try to permanently end his existence? Fang was quite amused by that. As if there was any way to keep him dead that hadn't already been tried either on accident or on purpose. His head tilted, mulling over the implications. This girl was still obviously researching him and his kind, meaning she didn't have all the answers. She was clearly no expert on phoenixes, so what method could she possibly think would accomplish what he'd wish so hard for? What an odd girl. "I look forward to it either way," he grinned darkly back at her, moving more toward the back of the cage.
His cooperative days had come to an end, so even though she simply wanted his brand new soft feathers, he remained in his human form. Despite being newly reborn, his skin was a sickly translucent white, to the point that veins that weren't previously visible were starting to show through like routes on a map. The shadows forming under his wine colored eyes only highlighted his dangerous features, though really these weren't traits for a normal moon phoenix. That variable he hadn't mentioned and she had yet to find out simmered under the surface, attuning his hearing to her every heartbeat. The woosh of her blood pulsing through her veins called to him, promising to be a fountain of satisfaction and strength if he'd just give in, if he could just pull her within reach. "Come and get the feathers if you really want them," Fang taunted, musing over what she would taste like. He anticipated bitterness due to her general personality, but that was fine with him. He quite liked bitter flavors.

So that was how it was going to be. Inglisse gave a small huff as he grinned and moved back towards the cage. He seemed almost eager for her to end him, which was not too surprising. It must be boring to live forever; eventually people came to a point where they had experienced all they wished to see and do. Enough was enough at some point. Especially in a torturous life, she could imagine one would wish for death. She herself hoped that the Sacramentum would not keep her alive forever. She too had tried plenty of times to end herself to no avail.
However, the fact that he refused to cooperate was what was most surprising. He had cooperated with her for an entire moon by now, which was more than she had ever anticipated. Was he testing her? If so, it would make this much more interesting. “Fine then,” she chirped with a neutral expression, taking a step back from the cage. “I hope you enjoy the feeling of starvation.” Harnessing her abyssal matter and energy abilities, Inglisse attempted to have a sharp “shadow” shoot up a small distance within the cage right beneath one of his feet. She hoped to stab the foot and let him bleed out, which would further lower his blood sugar and make him hungry quicker. Not only that, but the spike would apply more Sacramentum internally, as well as be a small dose of punishment for defying her.

"Oh, you have no idea what starvation is..." glowered the darkened phoenix, scoffing at her threat. As if he hadn't been starved for hundreds of years for normal food. As if, since his rescue, he hadn't gone longer than any vampire should between feedings of that glorious lifeblood he needed, he craved. As if his gaunt body wasn't eating itself away, his veins running nearly dry and brittle as cracked riverbeds during draught. His throat burned to rip into hers. If only she'd come close enough. If only he could free himself.
The darkspike pierced his foot, earning her merely a hiss of recognition but otherwise, he ignored it and continued to glare. There wasn't as much blood gushing out of his pale, boney foot as she probably expected. Fang was deteriorating, and injured or not would probably rebirth soon on his own. Who knows, he might even end up stuck in a cycle after a while, since he was technically restored to phoenix healthy, but not vampire healthy after rebirth. This sadistic girl had captured him when he was already far overdue a feeding due to trying to keep his hybrid nature a secret, so Fang's health was poor and growing poorer...and more dangerously desperate. "You think stabbing me and keeping your food will cause discomfort, considering everything?" he snarled, a dark laugh grumbling out of his chest. He stalked closer to the front of the cage, foot slipping in his own blood and squeaking against the sterile surface below. "Compared to my th-" he started to say something, but seemed to change his mind mid-sentence, "my previous tortures, missing a few normal meals and bleeding a bit is a holiday."

Inglisse stood just outside of reach from the cage, amber eyes glaring at the phoenix as he spoke. Perhaps he was right, she had starved before but not died from it, yet he likely did have more experience with going extended periods without eating. At least he had fight in him, with or without food. A weakened subject was harder to do anything with than a well fed and energetic one. He questioned her and began to move closer to her within the cage despite slipping slightly in his own blood.
His dark laugh was certainly unsettling. Had the Sacramentum finally pushed his mind a little over the edge? “Perhaps not, considering everything you’ve been through,” Inglisse agreed with a smile. He cut himself off, changing his mind before speaking. What had he meant to say, if anything, she wondered. “Well, I’m glad to hear it’s a holiday,” she commented on his choice in vocabulary, somewhat sarcastically. As she finished her statement, the dark spike from earlier crept back towards him. Through the hole now in his foot, she would manipulate more abyssal energy in an attempt to push it up through his body. This time, the energy was manifested as a physical black mass similar to thick liquid. It could possibly push remaining blood out of his body, or mix with the blood and be distributed to his organs. She did not know what would happen, but that was why she was doing it in the first place, as an experiment. She was the scientist, after all, and he was the lab rat.

What would happen would probably be something she hadn't intended. He approached the cage, veins pulsing with tainted blood...what little blood he had. The lower and more tainted his blood got, the more hungry and agitated he became. He said no more, though perhaps it was his body language that would speak for him. Perhaps he'd lost his ability to speak? That tended to happen when he lost control and went berserk, but so far there was little physical change. He was just so thirsty. Her ever heartbeat chimed like a dinner bell, calling him to a feast and sweet relief. The normal disdain he had for such thoughts had vanished, and it seemed he'd reached the end of his self-discipline.
Quivering hands reached out and grabbed the magical bars that held him inside. He gave them a tug, then a push...and that's when it happened. His hands slid through them as if they had disappeared, with only a small bit of resistance to show for their once solid barrier. As soon as the realization hit Fang, everything changed. His human fingers grew savage pointy claws and fangs extended as he snarled. The darkened red hair turned white from the roots out, paling his skin as well and exchanging his crimson irises for gold. Chilling black flames started to waft over him along with a menacing red aura. One would expect the temperature around him to heat up, but instead, it grew colder and colder. Though the change might be startling, one thing was for sure. As he pushed his way out of his prison, he had one thing in mind; getting a hold of Inglisse. Fang lunged at her, no longer the rationally thinking and cooperative boy she'd had, but instead a creature with nothing but destructive intentions.

Her attempt at pushing more sacramentum through him seemed to be largely ignored. She had not anticipated him moving close to the cage bars. She could sense the dark energy coursing through his veins. He was almost like her in that regard, his body completely tainted by the mysterious matter. She took a step back from the bars just to avoid an unwanted hand or giant wing sticking through at her.
It was then that the unexpected happened. The cage she had so carefully crafted out of the Sacramentum failed. The bars allowed him through, something that was certainly not supposed to happen. The cage was designed to keep him in, she had ensured nothing of his nature would make it out unless she allowed it. Unless… He was no longer of the nature he was prior.
Her experiments with the sacramentum had changed him to be unrecognizable to the barrier. She instantly recognized her failure. The container now treated him as it did her; they were free to pass through. The phoenix quickly realized this and suddenly began to change. Inglisse witnessed the ginger hair fade to pale white, his crimson eyes brighten to a glittering gold, and sharp fangs and claws begin to form. “You never mentioned you had vampirism…”
He was not simply a phoenix; he never was. How could she have been so oblivious and foolish? Despite her surprise, Inglisse snapped into action. Spikes of dark energy would strike at him from the ceiling and floor with deadly intent. In addition to those, pale electricity would spark from the girl’s body and from one of her hands, a powerful lightning bolt would be aimed at the vampire-phoenix. It could stun or kill opponents usually. At this point in time, she did not care if her precious lab rat was killed; self defense and the protection of her lab was what mattered.

"You never show all your cards in war," graveled the last shreds of his human consciousness before he was lost to the vampiric madness within him. The duality of the sun-loving phoenix mixed with the moon worshipping vampire was too much of a schism. Naturally, Fang was ashamed of this half of him and vehemently hid it, a little less because of the vampirism itself and more of how he became a halfbreed. It was one of the many scarring consequences of his time in the war and the imprisonment that followed, but it seemed now, for the first time, this secret would help him instead of hurt him.
Fang advanced on her with murderous intent, though it was less to mindlessly flame her and grind her into a cloud of fine dust and more drain her of every drop of blood. He was so very hungry. Even with the boost to his body from his moonfire berserker form, he was so weak from hunger that his body shook under his own weight. If he'd been at full power there was no question he'd already have her in his clutches and be tearing into her throat like a rabid animal. It was sheer instinct that drove his frail body on and he managed to move quickly from the desperation. There were attempts to avoid the attacks, but once one hit and it didn't damage him, his gold eyes locked on her and he snarled viciously, nearly smiling in realization. She was truly helpless prey. The vampire hybrid lunged at her again through her attacks and they passed right through him as if they were vapor. Clawed fingers reached out to grip her arms. His gaze was laser-focused on her neck where her pulse raced and beckoned him. Slamming her into a nearby wall, the berserker wasted not one more second. His mouth and fangs bared down on her tender flesh between jaw and shoulder, thinking not about getting revenge for all the torture or eliminating her as a threat so he could gain freedom, but simply as a meal. Her skin was savagely pierced and he began to drink Inglisse's blood.

The area used to contain the phoenix had been powered by her abilities. If it failed, it was not too surprising that the rest of the her attacks failed as well. Still, Inglisse was only human. Her instinct to survive and fight or flight reflexes had kicked in. She saw no ability to escape and thus fought, but when that was useless, it left only one option-- the option rarely considered: freeze.
The vampire had quickly grabbed her arms and before she knew it, the pain of being slammed into one of her lab walls was being covered up by adrenaline. His fangs came down quickly on her thin flesh. As they pierced her flesh, Inglisse winced and let out a small squeak of pain. She never liked pain inflicted upon her by others. Her body could heal it and would survive, meaning that there was the potential she could experience something past what any human would be capable of experiencing. The thought had always frightened her. At least in her self experimentation, she understood and respected her limits. While a vampire bite was fortunately nothing that could inflict too much pain, the rapid draining of her sacramentum-infested blood was not a comfortable experience.
She could do nothing to fight it. Her sacramentum-based talent failed to work on him, and with her arms held firmly and the adrenaline keeping her frozen, she was unable to cast any useful enchantment or spell that could free her. Inglisse was physically weak, and even though he was underfed and drastically weakened, Fang’s hunger propelled him and strengthened him. At first she struggled against him, but soon went limp as she found herself unable to fight back. Clenching her teeth, she attempted to mentally fight back the nausea from blood loss. Her blood would regenerate in time, but not as fast as she would have hoped. “How does blood laced with dark energy taste to a half-vampire?” she weakly questioned in defiance, with a faint but pathetic struggle. She truly was helpless prey.
