welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Not one week after they made it back home. And she already got herself into trouble... Not that Oras wasn't any better, he dueled a Vampire only a day or two ago. The glacier atranoch was waiting in the training grounds. He'd left a message for Ryse to meet him here when she was fully grown, so he'd come here every morning waiting for her. They made an agreement that he would help her learn how to fight for herself and stand strong. In contrast to that, first thing she did when she got here was die. Oras rolled his eyes at the thought. The atranoch was going to bombard her with a large amount of questions of course, wanting to know how she died, who killed her, why she died, and then maybe a smack or two. At least she could come right back, unlike him. He had to be summoned again. Eventually the hybrid started approaching and he turned to look at her, tossing a snowball at her face. "You're late."

'whack!'
The snowball hit Ryse squarely on the face as she walked towards the Atronach. She glared at him in anger, the air around her shimmering. The snowball melted instantly and slid off her face as water. "......really? The first thing you do is throw a snowball at me?"
She crossed her arms as she stood in front of him. She'd actually been grown for a few days now, but she hadn't wanted to be around anyone. It was only after her conversation with Nyx that she finally got the guts to meet Oras at the training grounds. She still haven't met Zeke again, or Nuada, or Ozaki. But she was finally able to start meeting her friends again. She'd asked the Atronach to help her learn how to defend herself. It was more important now that she'd actually died. She didn't want to do so again any time soon.
With a sigh, the air returned to normal, and she uncrossed her arms. "So what do we start with first?"

Oras threw another snowball at her face. This one made of Form Four Ice, making it resistant to fire… Resistant, not immune. “We agree to train you up so you can hold your ground. And the first thing you do when we get here is die?! For crying out loud Ryse, you really are an idiot!” He shook his head in annoyance, sighing as he leaned against a tree. “The first thing we’re going to be doing Ryse, is I’ll be asking you questions. And you’ll be answering them honestly. I need to know how you died. Knowing where you’re weak in can help me figure out the best way to go about this. Plan out your training session. Though the first lesson I pretty much have a solid idea in. Now: Who or what killed you? How did they kill you? And if they had a talent what was it?”

This time she managed to dodge the snowball hurled at her. At his words, she looked away from him, fidgeting with her shirt sleeves. When he called her an idiot for dying, she flinched slightly. It wasn't like she'd wanted to die. Just thinking about it sent shivers up her spine.
"I... don't really want to talk about it..." She said solemnly. Surely he'd understand that she wasn't ready for all of these questions? Learning what she was weak in, okay. That's fine. But she did not come here to be interrogated.
Plus, what would he do if he found out who killed her? She didn't want Zeke harmed. He hadn't meant to do it.

Oras saw her flinch and sighed before he walked over to her. As he did she spoke, and he listened. But didn’t stop his advancement. He walked up to her, reached his hand out, grabbed her arm. And pulled her into a hug. “Ryse. It’s me. I won’t do anything to hurt you. My intention is to help you. You don’t have to feel scared, and especially not about telling me. I know how to keep secrets believe it or not.” The atranoch pulled away from the hug and looked her in the eyes. “You’ve been given time and a break since your death right? I strongly suggest you make your next step working towards getting over your death. It can be traumatizing yes, but if you let that fear hold you down you won’t get anywhere. And that fear will make it impossible to fight. I want to help you get past it, but I can’t do that if you plan on keeping it buried. Fears fester in the darkness. So shine a bit of light on it.”
Oras turned around and walked over to the clearing ready for use. As he stepped into the area, the entire surface froze solid, even the grass on top was coated in frost. With a crunch under his boot, he moved to the opposite end and turned around, pointing to where she should stand. When she stood there he would draw his sword and take offensive position. “First lesson:” His eyes narrowed as he focused. “Dodge.”

The teenager watched as the atronach approached her. She fully expected him to demand that she answer his questions. That she give him full details and explanations. When he grabbed her arm she expected him to not let go unless he had the answers he needed.
What she did not expect was to be pulled into a hug.
Her eyes widened in surprise for a moment, before she relaxed and hugged him back. “Thank you, Oras.” She replied softly. It was such a huge relief to know that he wouldn’t pressure him into talking. She wasn’t ready to say things like that just yet.
She will be. Just not at this moment.
When the Atronach let go and stepped into the clearing, she made her way towards the spot he pointed to. So they were working on dodging, it seemed. Alright. That was fine with her. She could work with that.

Ooooooh, Oras was gonna do his best to beat her senseless. He wasn’t letting this go. He just didn’t push in that moment cause he was worried she’d start crying. He was gonna get answers one way or another. He just had to do them his way now. At any rate he was planning this out as he went along. He could make the ice nice and slick any time he wanted too. Better yet, it was his form 6 ice, which made it strong as steel. So she wouldn’t be digging her claws into it any time soon to get a better grip. Oras took a deep breath, let out a cold puff of air, then pushed the ice on his feet forward to propel him, giving him a speed boost as he rushed towards Ryse. Blade out he swung it when she attempted to dodge. What made it difficult however, was how he formed ice at the tip of the blade outward… Increasing the length of his blade by ten feet before shattering and returning to it’s original size.

Ryse narrowed her eyes as she readied herself for the Atronach's first move. She knew Oras was a difficult opponent, and so would not be easy to beat. However, that wasn't the point of this exercise. The point was for her to practice dodging attacks. She knew that he was faster than her, but that didn't mean she didn't have a chance.
When he shot towards her, she leapt to the side to avoid his sword. And her eyes widened as it seemed like his sword had suddenly increased in length within a split second. Dropping to the ground, she barely managed to avoid the weapon, the edge of the blade nicking her cheek a little as it passed her. She then rolled to her feet again, tense and ready to move again in a moment's notice. That had been close.
Really close.

Oras didn’t stop, instead using his momentum to continue his rushing assault. He let go of his sword after the swing and spun in the air, sending his foot swinging at her head. Assuming she managed to dodge this, he continued his hand to hand combat martial arts against her, swinging his hands and feet swiftly at her to land as many strikes on her as possible. While he was doing this, the ice he conjured up to catch his sword was moving discretely around in a circle behind her. Then when the timing was right, the ice threw the sword at her from behind, blade first. Whether or not she’d dodge it (if she didn’t then it would pierce cleanly through all the way) Oras would catch it by the handle and slash upward at her.

Hurriedly ducking to avoid the atronach's foot, the teenager was unprepared for the flurry of attacks aimed at her. She managed to dodge a few of them, but several landed on her.
Then she heard it. A small sound from behind her that caused the hair on the back of her neck to stand up. Instinctively moving to the right, she moved just fast enough to avoid being skewered by the sword. But she wasn't given time to relax as she had to leap backwards in order to avoid getting sliced open. Her shirt was torn a little, but otherwise she was unharmed.
"Are you trying to kill me?!" Ryse shouted, anger flaring in her eyes. "This is training, not an opportunity to murder your sparring partner!" She didn't even have a sword, much less know how to use one.

The second she opened up her mouth he caused ice to be conjured underneath her, acting as a sort of explosion to throw her into the air. He’d then launch himself into the sky, thrusting his sword forward and extending it’s length yet again toward her. “Talking in a fight is how you die.” he wondered if she would notice that these were not fatal blows he was attempting to land. Just very very painful ones. It would be best for her to remember as well that he had healing snow if needed. He conjured up wings of ice and used them to give him perfect mobility in the air, slashing at her from all sides. Then he had a neat idea. He conjured up an entire duplicate of himself made of ice, sword and all. He shifted it so it would look like him color wise too, and proceeded to attack her with both from either side.

As she flew into the air, she transformed into her hybrid form and instantly flapped her wings, righting herself. She dashed quickly to the side to try and avoid the sword strikes. The Atronach was just as fast as her, so it was difficult to keep out of range. But then he split into two, and such a thing became nearly impossible.
No matter where she went, there was a sword there, ready to cut her. Her pelt was slashed at all sides, causing her to yelp in pain. Oras and his copy were too overbearing, too close to her. She couldn't move without being harmed. Baring her teeth, she ignited into flames, the fire blazing outwards moving to strike both the atronachs around her. If an opening formed, she would dash through it, then quickly swoop through the air and launch another attack towards one of the atronachs. She didn't know which one was the true Oras, but she didn't particularly care at the moment.

The two atronachs dodged her fire carefully and shifted to flame resistant ice. Having a duplicate was rather good in a fight, save for one aspect. It could only do as much as he directed it to do, and during a fight his attention would not be as focused on the fake as much as his own actions. It was due to this fact that there was an opening on it’s end. However he had a way to salvage this mistake he had made. When her claws came into contact with the fake’s body, he forced it to reshape, becoming spears that lunged into her from multiple angles. None of the strikes were lethal, but if they did pierce into her she’d be down for the count. If she did dodge it, the real Oras would be waiting for her, his blade out and ready to skewer her.

'Oh... wrong one...' Was all she had time to think as the atronach she was attacking suddenly transformed into spears. At point blank range like she was, there wasn't time for her to move out of the way, so she was hit by the spears as they came flying at her. One pierced her side, another hit her leg, and a third ripped through her wing. Crying out in pain, Ryse promptly fell to the ground.
Ryse attempted to soften her fall by fluttering her uninjured wing, but it didn't really help. At least she landed on the grass instead of the concrete. Even so, she was in a world of pain, and unfit for continuing to fight. "Oras... you j-jerk..." She said as she lay on the ground, blinking back tears as they clouded her vision, her voice wavering. "Why'd you... have to do that.... two against one. Not fair..." She hadn't expected to win anyways; if she was honest she was surprised she'd avoided his attacks for as long as she had.

Oras glided calmly to the ground and walked over to her. When she called him a jerk he simply shrugged. “You knew this the day we met. What’s repeating what I am going to do?” He conjured up some healing snow and tossed it onto her wounds, causing them to regenerate. Not instantly or incredibly quickly, but enough to heal her. “Ever heard the phrase ‘all is fair in love and war’? I have a question: Were those bullies back in your homeland going to play fair? Or would they have used every dirty trick in the book to end your life? Lesson learned: Never anticipate a fair fight, and be prepared to fight just as dirty if it means surviving. Honor be damned.” ‘And don’t let the fear of death engulf you, that helps too.’
