welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

It usually depended on what the command was. Certain types were more natural than others, but it was definitely easier if the person was not actively struggling against it. “Usually until I end it, but if they’re struggling it can end quicker… Oh. One more thing.”
Ozaki snapped to get his father’s eyes back on him. “You will not activate your talent or any of those tattoos of yours.” Once he was done with that he looked up and said, “That should be good enough, I’ll do it again in an hour. That’s probably much sooner than I need to, but better safe than sorry.” He said as he started walking towards the teleport pad to Hisawka, his father walking beside him. This felt… Definitively weird. Ozaki never thought it’d turn out like this. He was literally walking his father to a trial.

The teleporter - Ryse thought as she stepped onto the pad and instantly warped to Hisakawa - was definitely quicker than traveling by foot or wing, or airship. She didn't know how she hadn't heard or known of these before. It would've saved time traveling to her home when she'd visited her mother.
One second she was looking at the school grounds, and the next she was standing in the city of Kogane no Toshi. The capital city, and the four smaller cities surrounding this one, were the five wealthiest cities in the nation. Kogane no Toshi and the four other cities held the emperor, his family, their friends and business partners. The architecture was different from anything seen in the school or the city of Mistere, and there was nature and vibrant floral everywhere they looked. The air was humid, almost sticking to her skin, and the sun was as bright as ever. There were also many more people here than in Mistere. Some were tourists, while many were from those living in the surrounding cities. She felt a little nervous, being amongst all these people. But it was nice being in her home nation again. Even being in this busy city she felt more at ease here than she did in the school.
When the others appeared, she stepped into the street and waved a hand towards the city entrance. "It's this way." The location of the Aubade was a secret to everyone except phoenixes. She'd only been there once, when she'd been very young. But there was always a pull, an instinct which if she chose to follow it, would take her to the Aubade. It was like how compasses always pointed North, or how a cat always landed on their feet, or how the sun always rose in the morning and fell every evening.

He followed the other two as silently as could be done, the feeling of inertia and a difference in air being the first thing to greet him as he entered and exited the portal, arms spread for balance as he did his best to contain his flip flopping stomach.
after getting a hold of his bowels, he shook his head with an expression that read he hated teleporting and now knew it. following after Ryse when Ozaki had appeared with Yuuto, strolling behind the vampire and the man headed for trial.

"Should I call a cab or is it close enough to walk?" Ozaki asked, pulling out his phone. It was just as well his phone already had the international plan on it. With his job sometimes requiring him to do field work, and the occasional hunting side job, it made sense to do so. He could look up the information easily enough.

Ryse rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly. "Well, it's not exactly close to any cities. Otherwise anybody would be able to find it...." Hidden or not, if it was located near a populated place, someone was bound to accidentally find it. Which wouldn't bode well at all.
She carefully stayed a careful distance from Yuuto as she walked. "Taking a cab would be quicker, but we'd have to walk at some point. The roads turn into dirt when you leave the cities, and then there are some parts where there aren't any roads." There were many parts of the nation where it was just dense jungle and forest, like the area near her house. Around the capital cities, there was indeed cell service and such. But the farther away you traveled, things like that were few and far between. There was a reason why she and her mom relied on fire power - literally - to light up the home and to make the few handmade machines they had work. They didn't have electricity.
"We're birds, Mr. Ozaki." 'Or... at least I'm part bird, anyways', the thought made its way into her brain. "We'll have to fly to reach the Aubade. Or be teleported there. If other phoenixes are expecting us, they can help us carry him there." They were built for the sky. Having a prison on the ground where just about anyone could reach them was not only dangerous, but it was foolish. There were, of course, Talents that could allow others to fly, but it was easier to keep the prisoners contained if they had nowhere to go. Falling from that height would result in their deaths.

Watching the other two silently, Jerisidie kept to himself, listening yet lost in his own thoughts. "i don't mind walking. i can try to help us pass through dense jungle if that is the chosen route." he murmured, closing his eyes for a moment, needing the darkness to recorrect his interal compass.
he had very little of an idea as to what the ground was like here, but gods, did it feel good against his feet, shoes slung over his shoulder yet. keeping his gaze on yuuto he looked back to ozaki, jaw set. this had to be hard for the younger male to do, even being as close as he was. even more so, he was wary, eyes on yuuto and ozaki, muscles tensed to attack or defend as the situation called for.

"Teleport is probably the cheapest option if there is indeed a teleport to there." It was a place tucked away from the world, traditionally only phoenixes knew where it was. So having a teleporter right to it... "If it were night we could fly there, but with the sunlight out I'd only get my wings scorched for my efforts." Right now all of his skin was covered and protected. But again the wings would not be. He was a little frustrated he hadn't thought this more through before coming here. But he'd been putting this off for too long as it was.

"I only met the Council once, when I was very little." Ryse rubbed the back of her head sheepishly as she replied, looking back at her two companions. She barely even remembered the meeting itself; she'd been just a hatchling. "I know where the Aubade is, but I don't know where the teleporters to it are. We could find another Phoenix. They would...probably know better than I...."
This was sort of embarrassing for her. She'd never had a reason to actually go there, and so while she knew where the place was located, she didn't know the best routes to get there. Finding a phoenix was probably a better idea than just making the trip by themselves. And the quicker they got there, the quicker Yuuto would be taken care of.
Looking around, the teenager scoured the crowds, trying to find another phoenix whom they could ask directions to the closest teleporter. Surely it couldn't be that difficult. They were in one of the capital cities, after all. Nearly all commerce came through here, and that included travelers from all the nations. With as many people that were here, there's got to be at least one Phoenix among them.

Thorough one way or another they all made it to where they needed to go. There was a bit of a weirdness about letting the non-pheonix’s in, but after explaining the situation the phoenixes at least decided to allow them to go through security. Security being the memory scan at the beginning, and a memory wipe at the end which would erase their memories of how to get there, though perhaps not of their time there itself.
It depended on if they were able to pass through security, and if their intentions were true.
From what he could see the Doorway had sigils on it, clearly marking it as a powerful magical artifact. A woman stood behind a desk next to it, head perched on a hand. She wore a headband that matched the sigils of the door, and as each person went through she closed her eyes. When she opened them she nodded each time, then signaled them through.
When it came time for Ozaki’s turn he tensed considerably as he walked through the machine that would scan his memories. She looked thoughtful for a moment, then nodded him through.
When it came Yuuto’s turn to go through the machine she closed her eyes like everyone else, then visibly flinched. She had seen a lot in her time. Hell Ozaki’s memories had been quite the trip. But she had to not only measure the memories, but the heart of a person. And while Ozaki may have done ill, none of it had been of his own will.
Yuuto on the other hand, was rotten. Sure he had a tragic reason for being the way he was… But it was no excuse.
The woman picked up a stabler and very nearly chucked it at him, but held herself back. “Animal.” She growled, flame licking from her mouth. She then picked up a phone and stated. “We’re going to need an escort, the prison’s going to have a new inmate soon.”

Ryse shuffled on her feet back and forth nervously upon hearing about the test to view their memories as she stood in front of the doorway. The unassuming doorway made of plain dark brown oak wood, the only signs that it was magical being the deep carvings etched along the top of the wood. She'd changed into her professional clothes before they had gotten here, and now she was wearing the red dress she'd packed, her casual clothes being neatly folded and tucked away in her backpack.
Being the first to be tested of the group, she watched as the strange carvings - which she now identified as being sigils, most likely some variation of the Ancient Phoenix language - illuminated, shining an eerie blue color. The teenager stiffened as she stepped through, shutting her eyes tight. She wasn't sure what would happen when her memories were scanned. Would they not accept her? Would they look down on her for what she did in her Trial? Would they not allow her into the courtroom?
After a moment, she didn't feel anything, but opening her eyes again revealed that the woman was waving her through. Sighing in relief, Ryse made her way to the other side to wait for the others.
One by one as the others passed through the doorway, she clasped her hands together in front of her, looking around with curiosity. She'd never actually been to the Aubade before. At least, not when she was old enough to remember. She hadn't been to the courtroom specifically... she wondered what the inside would look like. She'd seen pictures of such places in cities like Mistere - and even some Arka courtrooms, of which there were few and far between. But she imagined the phoenix courtroom would look a bit differently from what she'd seen.
Would there be plenty of windows to let sunshine through? Would the building itself be made of a flame resistant material, to prevent any phoenixes with hot tempers or accidents which would burn down the establishment? Would the courtroom be more open, with higher ceilings and tall arches for the doorways to allow the phoenixes to feel less grounded? Would there be murals of Vissarion on the walls and ceiling? Images of the Council members, maybe?
All of these questions ran through her mind as she waited. She couldn't help it. When she became curious about something, her mind tended to spin with a million questions at once. It was a bad habit, but one that drove her to become a Scholar in the first place. Learning about new things, places, and creatures was what she liked to do.
When the phoenix at the desk called for an escort for Yuuto, she didn't blame them. She didn't want to be alone with the murderous human without some sort of guard either. He might be under Ozaki's trance, but even so. Being this close to him gave her the creeps, and it was better safe than sorry. She'd feel better having an armed escort rather than being left alone with the killer.

Soon enough an escort of two phoenixes arrived, beckoned by the call. One of them had a pin on his outfit, ranking him as clearly higher up within the justice system. "Really? A human?" He drawled impatiently, holding out his hand expectantly for the band that enabled her to see the memories. Usually humans weren't imprisoned in their justice system. It had nothing to do with them. Why should they care what crimes humans committed? But he'd give it a look see at least. "Lets see then."
She handed it over to him without compliant. As the memories flashed through his mind his brow furrowed. "His own daughter in a basement... Really?"
Ozaki shook his head, that didn't sound right. "No no no. Yuuto didn't have a dau-" Then he registered exactly what was going on. That came from Yuuto's own memories. No one in their right mind would call the phoenix girl Rika and him had found that fateful day Yuuto's daughter unless she actually factually was. Sunlight pouring in through the windows meant he could not remove even an inch of his coverings. He could not bite into and tear apart Yuuto with his own teeth as much as he wanted to... But he had everything else. He turned around slowly, the goggle-like shades hiding slitted pupils. Ozaki had just barely been keeping himself in check before now.
Hearing this... Was too much. Faster than anyone could blink, Ozaki was by Yuuto's side, punching him hard enough in the guy to rupture his spleen and send him crumpled to the ground, wheezing in agony from the internal damage inflicted. "I should have known. I always knew. I did. I always knew you were a monster." He snarled, kneeling over Yuuto. His voice was savagery and rage personified, blood lust sank through the layers of clothing he wore and into Yuuto's bones.
The man glared back, part in fear, and all in loathing. Bound by the hypnosis he could not speak, but his distain was clear by this alone. This he would not back down upon even as he looked death right in the face.

Ryse's eyes widened, and she rushed forward toward the enraged vampire. "Mr. Ozaki! No!"
Grabbing ahold of his shoulders, she would attempt to pull him away. Spinning the vampire around, she would force him to look at her and not his father. "Remember why we're here." She said. No anger in her voice, no judgement; just understanding. "He's a monster, and we're here to bring him to justice. If you kill him now, all the people he killed and tortured will never be able to rest."
And, most importantly for her, Ozaki would never be able to rest. When the trial was complete, and Yuuto had his judgement rendered, she believed, would her friend finally be able to rest in peace. She wanted that for him, so badly. Ozaki deserved to feel some sense of peace, after all this time. After everything that had been done to him by his father; one of the people who were supposed to protect him. Parents looked after their children. They didn't try to murder them and leave them for dead, or do other horrible things to them. The vampire deserved to leave the memories of his horrible father behind once and for all.

Jerisidie was wuick to follow behind Ryse, sliding between Ryse and Yuuto so that if Ozaki could slip her grasp, there would be one more barrier. Wordlessly he nodded to indicate his agreement with Ryse, "He's a monster, but his death at your hands will hurt you far worse than anything else, because of those who didn't get their retribution on him. Do not show him your anger, he revels in it. Steel your rage, Ozaki, keep it for now. Use it to bring him to justice." he croaked, back to Yuuto.
His own trip through the sigil-riddled frame had been ... uneventful, save for the blood he had shed eons ago. Nothing had been said, merely a stare but that was all. Staring at Ozaki, he turned his gaze back to the fallen man, eyes dark with his own fury just from hearing what he had. Bending to roughly pick Yuuto up, he aimed to force him on his feet, hand at the collar of his shirt.

“There is nothing but rest for the vampires he killed Ryse. When we die there is nothing. We’re just. Gone. Forever.” There would be no rest for Meggi, none for the vampires he slew. None for Suzume, even as she still lived and breathed.
Yuuto’s words would only be known to those who could read lips, as the compulsion to remain silent still remained. “You creatures are already dead. You’re nothing but corpse puppets.” The distain in his features was clear.
It was Jers’ words that brought Ozaki to a more clear state. He didn’t want to be like his father. In no way shape or form. Killing him would be killing a core part of himself in a way… As weird as it was. It would be a point he could not go back from. He would not be able to rest if he slew his father. Despite it all, this was still his father. And despite everything he still wished it could be different. He took a step back, stumbling a little in the strain to control his utter bloodlust.
