welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

There were many things that could not kill a vampire. Getting your access to your inherent eldritch energies severed by a collar, being beaten up in an alleyway. Being dropped into a harbor with a lead weight attached to your ankle. Nonetheless, for some reason the Cryptids were surprised when he did indeed step off teh harbor in what had only been meant as one last scare for the future. But Ozaki had not known that for sure. He could not be certain no one would change their mind, and as weakened as he was he wouldn't able able to do anything about it. So when he stepped off and sunk to the bottom, they scattered.
He resurfaced ten minutes later, gasping for breath and a literal foot short. He'd had to saw the damn thing off to escape. He had already been short on blood before, but now he was practically dizzy with it. He reached for the 500 ml pack of blood he kept on him at all times, but found it had been ruptured in the fight, coating the front of his trench coat. He then reached for his phone, only to find that the water had killed it. He undid his belt and looped it around the leg to stem further blood loss while he still had his mind about him. The vampire panted heavily. He was going to need a lot of blood to heal all the damage done.
By Hades was he hungry.

Once more Rhythm was traveling unknown streets in the city during the night. What could he say? He loved cities, and this city was a big one. He just couldn't tear himself away from it. Too many things going on, too many places undiscovered. Maybe one day he'd venture out into the countryside, but that day was not this night.
Rhythm found himself drifting near water. He hovered over the river under a flickering street lamp and looked at his reflection---and quickly looked away again. Eesh....
At least the river had a nice, quiet sound to it. There were crickets chirping, frogs croaking...the riverside had its own little chorus!
A sudden splash broke through the soundscape and it was beautiful! Wait...who was that? Rhythm slunk into hiding as someone crawled out of the river, gasping for breath and bleeding profusely from the jagged stump of a footless ankle. Ohh...he had the worst timing. Why did he always have to come across such horrible things?
Something felt familiar about all this.
Should he...do something? What could he do?
Rhythm kept a close eye on the stranger from the shadows, curious and unsure.

Ozaki lay panting on the ground for awhile. Not as much as true need for air as the adrenaline pumping through his system. After a moment he rose up from laying down, undid his belt, and tied it near the knee to stem further bleeding. Okay... That source of blood loss was taken care of. Many of the other wounds had mostly scabbed over at this point. He needed a working phone though, as it was he was severely lacking in blood and was liable to attack the next blood-filled person that walked by. And if he did that...
Ozaki padded his coat, looking for the phlebotomy kit he always kept on him. Also shattered. Damn it. What phone numbers did he remember off the top of his head anyways? Who would be safe to have around him in this state? Immediately he knew the last person he should call would be Antonio or anyone linked to the Bloods. He did recall Antonio's number but... No. After how Mordred had reacted the last time with even the potential of danger, months of having his goons stalk him... Mordred was literally the last person Ozaki would go to for help. He would rather die than do that... But would he rather have someone else die instead for it?
"Damn it." He groaned, drawing a blood coated hand through his soaked hair.

The human wasn't moving much...he wasn't getting up. He knew they weren't apt to sleeping out in the open like this, so what gave?
As he continued watching, Rhythm got a read on the man's fears, and with it the memory of the odd fight in the alley came back to him. He must have gotten himself into a bit of trouble. Why wasn't he regrowing his limb like the other?
Rhythm stepped out from the shadows, knowing he probably wouldn't be recognized, being as it was that all his species pretty much looked the same. He had a vague sense of the emotions the man was going through off the expressions playing off his face and body. He looked nothing if not ragged.
Still wondering if there was something he could do to help, Rhythm made himself small so he hopefully wouldn't look so much a threat. He stood at what he assumed was a respectful distance and made it quite clear that he was looking at the man.

As alert as Ozaki was he did notice the approached, if not by the sound... Considering his RPer wasn't sure if Shadow People could have a sound of footsteps, by the sense of dread that overcame him. He looked over at the creature. Were the gangsters coming back? He was not ready for this at all. He summoned his wings, using an arm to try and push himself up while still only having one leg.
In the end he mostly ended up using one of his wings to push himself upright, looking around for any of the gangsters. Then he noticed the shadow's eyes... Could it be? It was hard to be sure. He needed more hints to know if it were a shadow person or not, and he couldn't assume it was the same one.

He seemed to be having trouble moving. Rhythm was sure that, if the man saw him at all, he wouldn't have any idea what he might be doing here. Perhaps if he could get him to recognize him, he might understand?
Fielding an idea on how to do this, Rhythm became a werewolf as he had the first time they'd met, launching himself to the side of the stranger. As soon as he hit the ground next to the man, however, he "vanished" in a cloud of smoky shadow, retreating to a small pool of lamplight not far from where the stranger was downed.

Ozaki flinched as the shadow werewolf appeared next to him, then rapidly retreated. Okay... So this was the same one as before. The same one who had interrupted the fight before. The one which, if he had been permitted to actually finish it on his own, he may have actually prevented this mess before it happened. Ozaki looked around, trying to find a stick he might be able to use to lean on while walking with one leg short. "What do you want?!" Ozaki snapped, unintentionally more aggressive than he truly meant to be.
But he was one step away from launching into a blood frenzy out of his injury induced hunger as it was. It was... Difficult to be polite right now.

Startled at the response, Rhythm visibly flinched when the man snapped at him. How rude. Just because you lost half a limb is no reason to shout...save your lungs for a song, instead!
He stepped a little closer as his acquaintance struggled to stand. Kneeling on one knee, Rhythm made a gesture like he was lifting something heavy---he was offering to carry the stranger somewhere else.

Ozaki narrowed his eyes at the shadow person, unable to keep himself from being uncertain in the creature's presence. He knew that a Shadow Person caused fear. So that was an element to consider. But even with that... He was in a very vulnerable state right now. Yet even with that there was the danger of himself to others. The Shadow Person was safe only because they had no blood. "Are you... Offering to carry me somewhere?" He asked, trying to confirm his uncertainty there.

Rhythm tilted his head and nodded, offering an additional thumbs-up just in case the nod was difficult to perceive. He stood and began to approach the man again, careful not to startle him with any more sudden movements.
Of course the man hadn't agreed to anything yet, but Rhythm wasn't one to wait around. He looked to be in a bad place, and the sooner he got out of here, then probably the better. After all, what if he got into another scrap while he could barely move? Rhythm could imagine the disaster that would follow: he'd turn into a head and torso, and then what? No, no, no---humans had to keep moving, he knew that much.

Ozaki was dubious to trust the person who had showed up near both of these incidents. But... The first time they had more been trying to break up the fight than siding with either him or the gangster. Plus, if Ozaki stood here either him or someone else entirely was going to get severely hurt. "Sure." He sighed. There were certain benefits to having a small form, as much as he hated to admit it. It was that when things like this happened, picking him up wasn't extremely hard to do.

Rhythm crouched and slid his arms under the man, lifting him with relative ease. At least he wasn't a big, beefy guy, or else this would have been really difficult.
Rhythm wasn't sure where to go now, however. Somewhere humans slept, perhaps? Ah---he knew just the place!
Rhythm brought the stranger with him into the air, where he could move a bit faster over the lot, skimming the tops of metal crates filled with unknown cargo. He left the harbor behind but followed the river past the back-ends of warehouses and factories until they arrived in front of a lonely and rather questionable-looking building.
It was a simple motel, nestled halfway under a leaky overpass. Half its roof was caved in, and just getting near it looked like it would give you tetanus. There were only a very few cars in the parking lot, which were pockmarked with one too many holes, some of which seemed to have things in them, with glowing eyes following the pair as they touched down.
Rhythm, feeling the weight starting to bear down on him after the trip, slipped through an open window into a room he sensed was empty and unceremoniously dropped the man onto a bed with rather suspicious stains on it, not understanding that he could potentially hurt the stranger more by throwing him around so roughly.

Believing in the kindness of strangers had long since been a state of mind that Ozaki had deemed as a foolhardy assumption for the majority of people. He had been perhaps willing to give the Shadow Person the benefit of the doubt... If only because at the time he had no other option. But as the Shadow Person took off and Ozaki tried to point in a direction he found his input ignored, the Shadow Person preoccupied with their own destination in mind. "Hey. Go that way."
Nope. When Ozaki was flown through a window and dropped onto a soiled mattress in a shady motel his already anxiety addled brain was on high alert. No. Whatever this was, no. "Nope. No no. Hell no." He was already in a vulnerable state as it was, now he was in an a shady unfamiliar place. Aside from Shadow Person fear aura, this reeked of danger. Danger enough that Ozaki was literally trying to fling himself out of the window, willing to put more faith in his shaky wings than whatever the unknown assailant might have in mind.
At this point he would even taken The Bloods over this. They were closer than his home. Maybe there'd be a shot of getting there before either something worse was done to him or he did something worse to someone else...

Wait---what---
Rhythm watched, confused, as the winged human didn't go to sleep, and instead started scrambling out the bed in haste, radiating---absolutely radiating---fear. What was wrong?
He rushed over to snag the stranger before he flung himself to his death, or perhaps to catch him if he fell.
Someone was passing under the window, leaving the building for a smoke, when he noticed the commotion. He walked with clanging steps, strong-looking with parts sticking out of him---a cyborg of some sort. Fire flicked out of metal fingers as he lit up the cigarette, and it was in the light that he noticed the shadows going wild above him.
He squinted up at the strange sight and called up, "OY, what's going on up there?" It took a moment before the fear hit him, and his eyes narrowed into more focus on just what he was seeing. The eyes of a shadow person, and those wings, that hungry look even behind the frantic face---a vampire, he guessed.
"Oh, shit---" He dropped the cigarette and held up his cybernetic hand, a beam of blue light shooting over the vampire and into the room. Rhythm lost his tangibility and dropped whatever part of the vampire he might have managed to grab.

Thanks tot eh cyborgs intervention Ozaki was able to get out of the window, but a few struggling wing beats were all he could do before he resorted to trying to glide. It was clumsy, but he did manage to land. A bit quicker than he would have wanted optimally, but at least he'd managed to tuck and roll as he landed, avoiding damage to his wings by unsummoning them while he did so. Okay. So he was on the ground again. With still a fucked up leg. He couldn't fly, and he couldn't walk. Ozaki rolled himself up to sitting, looking around frantically. Was the cyborg going to do more? Was the Shadow going to come after him more?
Should he scream and see if someone came to help him? What if someone worse came?
