welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

“Stop it! Leave him alone!”
“A creature such as him must learn his place.”
“He doesn’t belong here.”
“Filthy half breed thief!”
“No!”
Voices. Fragments of images and flashes of lights. They didn’t make sense as they passed by on the canvas of darkness he floated in. Those sounds and images came in and then disappeared like ocean waves, leaving him in silence and peace once more. A long time passed before something floated through the darkness to him.
“..lab…”
A word? No…
“Ca…us”
What?
“Calabus!”
The call in his mind was so loud that it jolted him awake in reality, his strange golden colored eyes going wide for only a split second as he gasped for air before his eyes were clamping shut again as the bright light assaulted them and coughs began to wreck his body sending pain through him with each one.
What the hell?
He tried to move, but there was too much pain and something weighing him down. What was it?
He forced his eyes open, trying to scan the area through blurred vision as he tried to get his other senses to work with him. He could smell grass and feel dampness and something tugging at him. Water? Was he in water and grass, but how…?
His scrambled mind fought for clarity for a few seconds and then like a strike of lightning it all came rushing back. What he had tried to do…and the end result of the try. That is right….It was them…They did this to him…and forced him away, but where the hell did he end up that they gave up the chase and didn’t finish him off? Was he that beat up that they thought he was dead?
Frowning, he’d try again to get up discovering he was on his stomach and indeed half submerged in water. A river or something with thick plants at the bank tangling him up. It took a while and the use of some of his powers to get free of his organic chains. Once freed, he dragged himself onto more dry land, but the process was painful and draining causing him to collapse only a foot away from the river’s edge.
His breathing was heavy and his body shivered and ached liked hell. He was disoriented and couldn’t seem to get a good focus, but he needed to get up…Get to somewhere that he could heal safely and figure it all out, but where was he to go if he couldn’t even regain his bearings?
Tch! Damn it…

The Vamp Wolf | What a day. Honestly, Sharaku was glad to be getting away for a while, after the mildly hectic mess that he had been going through in the last few weeks. On one hand, he was glad he no longer had to try to tolerate people talking down to him now that he had one certification under his belt, but on the other, getting used to work with what in his mind was very lackluster management did give him quite the headaches. And he still had to hit the books on the side too. People were definitely the bigger pain however.
At least for the moment, he was quite some ways from the school, scouting out for the territories of beasts he would need to go after soon. They were quite the cautious travelers, and not the easiest to reliably follow. Thus his tracking brought him as far as past the forest areas, out into the river fields. Which frankly, he was not the happiest about, as water could wash off scents and make his job harder still. Mweh. Good excuse for staying away and getting fresh air for longer? Maybe.
Or maybe not, but circumstances had their way regardless. The tall hybrid dressed full on in black would eventually find himself following along the river itself, only to stumble upon an unusual sight. Pausing at a safe distance, he would narrow his eyes at the person on the ground. They did not look to be in good shape...but why? He wasn't sensing anything even remotely dangerous nearby. Weird.
Keeping some caution in mind nevertheless, he'd slowly approach the figure, crouching down once around within 5 feet of them. "Hey....what happened here?" |

He wasn’t sure how long, he was laying there trying to get his bearings and get his body to cooperate with him. He just knew somewhere along the line, he felt like he was on the edge of passing out. His sight refused to clear up leaving him unable to make out the world around him outside of blurred shapes. He could hear to a degree, but not as well as he usually could his ears rather plugged. He could feel at least. He felt the plants under him, pain, and coldness. He felt his body slightly shivering constantly knowing he needed to get up, but his body was working on close to zero energy. It wanted rest, but he couldn’t stay out here and do that. No, he had to move and find somewhere else where he was less vulnerable. His mind told him that, but his body was not complying right now. It felt like a sac of heavy stones.
That aside, he would find that despite being jacked up in others areas his nose seemed to be working just fine. He could pick up the scent of grass and water nearby. There were animals around too, but nothing near by enough to be concerned about. What was concerning though was the more powerful scent of something that was not human. It smelled like a dog. Which one though? A domesticated one?...coyote? …No…that smelled more like a wolf…and yet something was off about the scent making it confusing to tell exactly what he was dealing with.
Either way, the fact that it was a wolf anything was enough to make him pull up enough energy to be more or less aware. The scent got closer until it was within a few feet of him. How close said few feet were he wasn’t too sure, but that didn’t matter as he used his sense of smell to find the direction it came from.
Pushing himself up a bit and looking to his left, he spotted a tall blur there that somehow shrunk down a bit. A being crouching? Probably, but he didn’t focus on that detail too much as he instead did his best to focus on the words that came from said blur. He was quiet for a while as his eyes narrowed slightly trying to focus before with a soft sigh he gave up on the matter as he rested his head on the ground and closed his eyes, this position requiring less effort than trying to hold his head up.
“…Un…Unfortunate…events…” he managed to get out his voice strained and whispery making it hard to hear unless one paid attention. That aside, he would force his eyes open looking in the general direction of the figure with a tired expression. Even so, he forced himself to speak more. “Hoo..” he trail off as pain ran through him. He close his eyes as he winced and let it go through him.
He hated being like this in front of a stranger, especially since he was unsure if this was a threat or not, but there was no way he could pretend. Even if he could, he wouldn't. He wasn't one about hiding stuff or playing to be nice stranger or not. Still if whoever this was did try something, he would force himself to defend himself. There was no way in hell he was going to go down due to conditions. That aside as the pain subsided, his battered and gashed body relaxed only a bit as he tried his question again.
“Who…are you?” His voice was still weak, but at least that came out better than the last attempt.

The Vamp Wolf | These circumstances were clearly rather unfortunate, as he did not have a lot of experience when it came to dealing with injured people. Some theoretical knowledge yes, but he typically worked alone and did not exactly have a big need to play medic on his own self given what he was. He was good at knowing how to aim to not actually kill opponents and other battle tactics that related to damages, but being a nurse was a lot different. Treating already received injuries was the opposite of giving them to a person.
Although, he technically had no obligation towards strangers either, so it wasn't that he had to help someone he accidentaly came across. Tch.
For the moment, he wouldn't move from his spot, not quite sure how to approach just yet. That, and he did not want to make things worse by not getting a better picture first. If this guy died on him within a couple minutes, there would have been nothing he could have done to prevent that by rushing either. Not out in a large wild space with no proper tools for anything at hand.
"Not anyone you know, seeing as I don't know who you are either. If it helps you to know this much though, I'm just a hunter scouting out the area for a pack of wild beasts I'm after. I was simply passing through and saw you out here." Nothing more, nothing less. Albeit, he too had no way of knowing whether this guy was safe or not. What if he went and helped someone who'd just stab him in the back the moment they could? The situation was strange. They were out in the wilderness, and there was obviously nothing super powerful around right now, and to cause injuries as bad as that, it had to be something bad. Unless this guy was a casual human and simply got mauled extensively by a vicious wild animal. He didn't seem to be though, from what he could tell at glance. What 'unfortunate events' was this one referring to? And when did they happen, for that matter?
Lovely. "I'd ask what unfortunate events could have caused this as I'm sure nothing that dangerous is in the area now, but you're clearly not in a good condition. Can you make it on your own in any way?" |

Did he expect to be found by a medical expert? No. That would’ve been too convenient. Besides, he was aware the likelihood of someone like that finding him was pretty slim out here anyway. Hell, anyone finding him was luck considering this was a large expanse of land and he was a speck of many in it. On top of that, the likelihood of someone or something not looking to kill him was also pretty slim. The fact this being that was near hadn’t tried to hurt or kill him, could talk, and had found him was a miracle on its own. Did he expect the other to help him? No. In fact he was still unclear if this one was safe or not; however, he did find that whoever this guy was he was at least calm.
Whether that was due to curiosity or plotting he didn’t know and honestly he didn’t think too hard on it. Instead, he just went with what happened versus wasting his energy on what ifs. Either way despite his condition, he wasn’t going to die quickly…though without proper aid he could end up sick and potentially dying in a slow miserable way. Granted, he’d fight that to the end too. That aside, he would hear what the other had to say in regards to his question. Blinking slowly, he was quiet as he let it sink in and process.
A hunter. That could be worrisome considering they were not above using such a tactic to erase something they disliked completely. Still, this one wasn’t hunting him, but something else and just happen to come by. Did he believe the guy? Well maybe and then again maybe not. The guy could be lying to make him comfortable and then when his guard was down take him out. Though that could happen even if he told the truth. Either way, he would push away the possibility of this one being hired by them considering that sort of hunter would’ve pounced on him by now…unless of course they took pleasure in watching another suffer. That probably didn’t apply here though from what was given and being said, so the half breed remained neutral towards the guy's presence, his body neither tensing nor relaxing as he gave a tired nod. “I see…” he would whisper and then hearing the next set of words a small frown crossed his face.
“Not…a good time…to ask such things…” he would say and then pause as he gathered a bit of strength to try and push himself up, but the effort was futile, his body flopping back to the ground easily enough. Closing his eyes with a sigh, he’d speak slightly moody due to misery versus anything the other did. “Does th…that answer your question about how well I can make it on my own?”
He didn’t like to appear weak, but honestly at this point he had a choice: One: be an ass and potentially chase away what might be help and in turn suffer the consequences of such actions… none of which were pretty. Or two:0 he could just be honest and see what happened if he gave a bit of trust to a stranger that had no obligation to help him at all. Could this guy still leave after all was said and done? Oh yeah, but would he? That was another matter, wasn’t it?

The Vamp Wolf | "Based on experience, I find it's never really a good time to ask." Most people didn't want to actually tell, and would get huffy regardless of when it was brought up. There's no appropriate time unless the person has interest in giving up the information, which was typically a rare occurence. At any rate, he'd shake his head with a faint huff at the 'demonstration'. "You could have just answered me. You're not doing yourself any favors by pushing it. If you unnecessarily aggravate your injuries further, it just makes matters more complicated." Well, the guy clearly wasn't about to instantly kick the bucket here, but it still wasn't helpful to be moving about more than was needed right now.
With a sigh, he'd shift to move closer so he could see better as to what he was dealing with here. "Alright. You're going to have to answer me a couple things either way though, unless you'd rather I leave you on your own." If he was explicitly requested to, he'd probably walk away simply because he did not want to provoke a fight. Trying to help an uncooperative person could potentially just result in them getting more hurt due to protests. And he did not have anything on him he could quickly use as a tranquilizer for such a situation. It'd be less risky to just hope the person knew what they were asking for.
"So...mind telling me what you are? I can't assess the severity of your injuries without knowing as much." Some species took it worse, and some would be in way less danger by default. |

“Heh..” An actual attempt at a laugh was made even though it was very weak and his smile very faint as he remained where he was on the ground. Even so, he still managed to seem amused despite his condition. And would you look at that? The poke actually got something small in return. “Does unfortunate…family issues…make it…better?” Well it seemed that despite his comment, he wasn’t afraid to share the details. Though at the moment that might be a strain on him considering he wasn’t exactly in his right mind or well enough to carry a proper conversation without something coming up to interrupt it. It was already hard enough just getting the words he was able to get out now.
As for that ‘demonstration’ he gave, well…
He’d give a sigh at what the other said. “I am aware…of that option and that…it wasn’t necessary…or wise… but…. to be frank…I don’t like being in this position…” He wanted to get up and move…even though at the moment his body just couldn’t. Being still was hard for him to do even more so when he simply wanted to get somewhere he could recover and get back to whatever the plan was from here. “Still…you are probably right…Pushing myself or rushing things…will probably worsen matters…” As much as he hated to admit that. He really didn’t have a choice in the matter, but to be patient if he wanted to heal properly and be able to follow through on his next actions fully. A pain in the neck, but if that is what it took to get better, that is what he’d have to do.
His eyes would narrow a bit as he saw the blur of a figure become a bit larger, the muffled sound of movement letting him know the guy had moved closer. From what the guy’s eyes could see, the male before him was nicely toned and of a medium frame. He would probably look fit enough, if it wasn’t for a the fact that at the moment he was a shivering mess. He wore light weight clothing that might’ve been white or some other light color that was hard to make out under all the red and stains of muck on him. The clothing was pressed against his body and torn all over exposing his sides, back, arms, and legs all of which were cut up pretty badly though the wounds didn’t appear to be just from a blade. In fact, a good chunk looked like they’ve could’ve been done from fangs or horns. While these cuts and bites littered his body along with bruises, the spot that seemed to be the worse and was currently still bleeding a good deal was a wound on his left side. The extent of the wound was unknown considering it looked like it was mostly on his lower stomach area which was currently covered thanks to him being on his stomach at that moment, leaving the wounds on the chest area also a mystery. His face also sported some cuts and bruises, but seemed to have faired better than the rest of his body. His hair was a whitish, damp, wavy mess, his head scarf he usually had gone probably lost in the chaos of things. His eyes were gold in color, bu definitely not focusing properly if one knew what to look for there. In a nutshell, he was a mess and the scent of blood and dampness probably didn’t help matters.
Not seeming to react to the fact that the guy was closer, he would hear the words spoken and blink slowly. “You could leave at… any point though…Ttill I don’t have many options…so ask away.” Yes he could be a pain in the ass and chase the guy away, but what good would that do him? None. Besides the guy seemed like he wanted to help and didn’t seem harmful thus far so why not?
“A grim…and…kirin mix…” It was true he had some healing abilities on his kirin side, but they weren’t the same as self generation and the likes some others had and considering which part of him was more dominate, he wasn’t even sure if he could use said healing properly anyway. “What about…you?” Was he looking for fair exchange? Not really, but it would be nice to know what he was dealing with since his nose wasn’t telling him anything outside of the fact the guy was maybe some sort of wolf. He’d liked the clarity in the situation.

The Vamp Wolf | He'd blink with a faint frown. "Technically." Yes, that explained a few things perhaps. It still made him none the wiser as to why was the guy here in the middle of nowhere, but none of these 'perpetrators' were anywhere in sight or even range. He could suppose the guy was dumped here, although it certainly looked like they pretty much aimed to kill, so it was unlikely they'd purposefully let him off. Had he somehow ran off and lost them, or had they thought he was about to die anyway? Tsk. Well, he'd probably never know, and it wasn't his business anyhow. Albeit knowing would make this situation safer. What if someone ambushed them, looking to finish the guy off?
Hmph. "Well, you clearly are in it though. I'm quite certain you can't hide that no matter how you try to act. You're not fooling anyone, not even yourself, into thinking it's not so bad unless you can actually move, which you can't." Like it or not, it was obvious either way. Playing tough did not cover over it, or make it seem less bad. It kind of did the opposite, as a matter of fact. It proved just how hopeless the situation appeared to be to whoever took a glance.
Getting closer, he'd take a cursory glance over the guy's condition before attempting to reach out and flip him over onto his back, assuming he was allowed to do as much. "I could. Then again, I'm not in any rush, and for the moment have no reason to believe you're a bad guy." Besides, not like this one was in any condition to fight against him even if he were any sort of criminal. Not when messed up like this. Those wounds would take time to heal up as well.
He'd be silent for a brief while upon receiving his answer. That was....probably good? As far as he was aware, Church Grim typically did not die from normal causes and just faded away with age. They were already once dead. Although he had absolutely no idea how it worked with hybrids. Likely dependent upon whether one was born with Grim genes or became one later in life. That said, Kirin were also more durable than your wild deer or whatever, given their status so it ought to be fine. "Well, good for you. You shouldn't die easily if that is really what you are." The one positive in all of it.
"As for me..." It wasn't necessary for the guy to know, honestly. He wasn't sure why he was being asked right now, but he supposed he could leave it at fair exchange this time around. Normally telling someone who could easily intend to make you their enemy was not the smartest as it coud mean revealing your weaknesses, but he was hardly in danger with this guy. He'd shrug his shoulders lightly. "I'm a vampire...." A slight pause, as if he was thinking. "...and a werewolf." Hmm. "Regardless, it's not a good idea to stay here. The area is too open. I don't want to risk getting attacked. You mind getting carried some?" |

It seemed the guy had accepted his still vague answer which was good for many reasons at the moment. Even so, if the guy did decide to poke into it deeper, he would probably give him some answers. He did understand the value of information, even more so when attempting to helping someone in his condition. He would not be surprised if the other had questions about more finer details or if he had to worry about hunters or other sorts of dangers just for being associated with him. There was also the matter of the reasoning behind his condition and location too. So he’d be surprise if the other kept quiet about that and not poke at all, but for now it seemed that conversation wasn’t going to happen.
“Fool? Heh…no…I am not trying to…do that….No point.” Oh he was well aware of how deep he was into this situation alright and to be frank the 'demonstration' wasn’t an effort to fool or try to act tough in the face of the thing. He had just given one last attempt to actually try to move on his own…and well the fact he failed proved he couldn’t and was the final strike to make him give up for now. As much as he disliked the facts, he couldn’t fight them or try to paint over them to make the picture what it was not. It was what it was. He’d just deal with it.
Speaking of dealing, it would seem he would have to deal with touch and movement too. When the guy’s hand touched him, he could probably feel that the body despite being damp was way warmer than usual suggesting a fever. On top of this, the touch caused him to jump slightly startled by the action, but he didn’t resist. Even when the guy began moving him and it hurt like hell and caused him to shut his eyes tightly, he did not scream out in pain. Though the pained groans and warped facial expression was probably sign of enough of just how much pain he was in. Once on his back and the movement had stopped, he would keep his eyes closed as he took in air letting the pain pass. As for the other, he would get a good look at the rest of the damage.
So that bleeding wound on his left side showed itself to be a rather deep stab wound that had been pulled across a bit as if someone was trying to gut him and failed. There was a lot more bruising and cuts here and some other smaller gashes on his upper chest that was bleeding still too, but no where nearly as bad as the side wound. There also seemed to be scarring from older wounds there still fresh, but not as fresh as the new ones. Outside of that there was signs that he had been hit in the chest by something hot considering some of the skin was a bit raw and burned. It was truly questionable how he managed to escape, let alone was still alive, but somehow he was despite the hellish story his wounds told.
That aside, his breathing began to stabilize as the pain began to die down again. He would hear the other's words and give a faint smile. “I try to be good…” he whisper as he kept his eyes closed for now. He wasn’t a criminal nor bad per se. He just had a different way of handling things that didn’t go with the flow others had and so he was typically the one fussed at or given a negative label. Not that it mattered considering the way the others he had been around never saw him in a good light anyway.
That all so fun thought aside, he would hear the silence and open his eyes a bit. He would slid his golden orbs over in the direction the other’s blur was as he blinked tiredly not saying anything for a moment. When the other did speak, his eye brows would raise slightly. “…Yay for me…” A weak playful cheer, but at least he was showing that despite the situation or how he might’ve felt about what he was, he was at least trying to see it all in a positive light. It would be alright in the end. It would be.
As if to prove that, the answer that he received about what the guy actually was actually caused him to relax a bit more. “That’s good…” he’d whisper the tone seemingly relieved and why was that? Well for one, he now could definitely throw out any suspicion that this guy was with them. There was no way in hell or beyond that they would even think of hiring either of those species to hunt for them and a mixed breed of the two? Oh please, the guy would be lucky if they even "blessed" him with looking at him. Yes this was good and took a chunk of worry off him just leaving him with the usual cautious he had for strangers. On top of this, he appreciated the fair exchange and the fact the guy told him what he was. Considering he couldn’t judge for himself due to the situation, he was a lot calmer knowing what type of creature he was dealing with. Now they were on even ground. Was it worrisome this was a predator? Not really. If the guy wanted to hurt or kill him, he probably would’ve done so already. Yet he hadn’t. Instead, the guy was displaying only his willingness to help. All things considered, the half-breed decide that for now it was okay to give lean on this one. So he would.
As for that last question, he’d consider it for a while knowing what moving would do, but still anywhere was better than the open right? “You may…carry me….” He would give the permission and this time could prepare himself for movement if the guy decided to go through with it all. Though “…Where are…we going to?”

The Vamp Wolf | He'd snort gruffly. "You might want to save the big yays for when your wounds are treated and you can be sure you won't develop septic shock or anything equally as bad. I don't have the tools to save you if something that life-threatening suddenly came up." That was work for an ER with all their equipment on hand, and even for them it wouldn't be a guaranteed save. He could only attempt to deal with problems that would not kill within hours without intensive treatment. Anything else...well, could always pray to God and hope that for once, it magically works.
In any case, he'd do his best to pick the guy up while jostling him as little as possible. Hopefully he didn't have any tricky internal injuries that were hidden, because he couldn't account for those. Still, laying out here on the wet river shores was probably worse than some discomfort and a little wound aggravation. That's how you catch a nasty infection ten times as fast after all. Bacteria love damp environments. "There's a rocky cliff a little ways off along the river with a waterfall over it. I saw an abandoned cave in its side while passing by. It was probably used by some wild animals before, so it should be relatively safe as a temporary shelter. As much as a better structure would help, at least we can stay near the water. Getting your wounds and anything used on them clean is important." It was the best available option out there for the moment...
"While we're moving though, I have something to ask. You're half a carnivore, half something that hates meat. What am I safe to give you?" |

He’d give a soft snort at that one. “Not one… to celebrate the… small victories, eh? Though…I can see….your point…” Let’s hope that did not happen at all. The last thing he wanted was to be fighting against some infection or other complication that could potentially off him without the right treatment.
That aside, he would feel the guy moving him and focus on not wiggling or causing issues that would make the guy's job more difficult. Yes, there were still the faces and the groans of pain, but outside of that the other would find him relatively easy to pick up and not very heavy at all. Once in the guy’s arms, he tried to get his body to relax as much as he could in his state. The pain was still there and was agitated by the movement, but at least he wasn’t coughing up blood and nothing inwardly felt off so the likelihood of something internal being damaged was pretty low…and that was a good thing. He didn’t need any more complications in this situation. Now if only he could stop shivering…
Staring at the nothing in particular thanks to blurred vision, he could see the blurs moving about them as they moved telling him they were moving past things, but honestly he had no way of figuring out direction or marking anything of use to help if he for some reason or another needed to track the path to where they were going. Speaking of location, he would listen to what the other had to offer to the question.
“Ah..a cave…and water…" he would say his voice still a whisper as he let his eyes close for now resting them. “That’s…that’s fine…” At least they would have a roof over their head so to speak and water could help both with cleanliness and his wounds and also was a source to drink and even get food from. Also water meant plants so yes…this was fine indeed.
Speaking of food, it seemed the other was either on the same thought pattern as him or just happened to be thinking through it all logically with the next question that came up.
“A sharp eye…and mind…How impressive…” he would begin before considering the question. On one hand giving out such information could be dangerous, but at this point he was willing to give the guy whatever information he needed to make this event easier for him. Besides, he was actually pretty impressed with how considerate this one was or perhaps how thorough he was. He didn’t take a gamble with the given information and just try to guess what could be given to him. Instead he had asked. Consideration or just preferring specific information...Hmm it was hard to tell.
“Anything that.. is not… meat or some form… of flesh…..I can be given….” Yeah him and meat were not the best of friends. While he could get away with a super small amount and not get too sick from it if he was fully healthy, he did not consume the stuff normally thanks to it wrecking havoc on his body. It wasn’t worth it…unless it was the only thing left to survive. Though, that would be a sucky existence though considering how it wasn’t even that great for giving his body what it needed to survive…Heh. Well that went places, didn’t it?

The Vamp Wolf | "I'll celebrate when I can be sure I won't need to awkwardly pretend it never happend due to a tragic end." It'd be kind of unpleasant to get all kinds of cheerful about a temporary success and then have it fall on your head. Getting ahead of yourself could make for very tense moments later.
Not that celebrating would even be comfortable given the situation right now. That said, he'd huff faintly at the mention of his choice of location being fine. "Well, it better be because it's the best I've got without having to haul you very far." Which was always an option, but it would only delay matters further. Plus, he didn't know the exact current layout of all the lands anyway. Just the ones he had passed through and examined.
Hm? "I call it being strategic. Also a matter of common sense. There'd be no point in me even trying to treat you if I simply went and helped off you by making silly mistakes like that. You'd be better off on your own than with the meddling of a person that is careless enough to do such things." Arguably, maybe the guy would notice and not swallow down the offensive items, but getting them would still have been a waste of time which was not a good thing when you needed to work fast to get a situation under control.
So yes, for the most part, he was simply being thorough with his 'job' here. It would be extremely inefficient to mess up, and could lead to a big overall failure. It was not a matter of being considerate when it was simply not even a choice. Consideration would be having a person tell you they only really felt like eating apples right now, despite them being able to stomach anything just fine, and you going along with their request in spite of how unnecessary it frankly was. Not feeding someone something harmful to them was clearly first and foremost a matter of necessity, not one of niceness. He was doing what he needed to do.
"Luckily for you, I'll need mostly just plants for this, so that can do." Meat was largely unnecessary, unless the guy wanted it as food but that was clearly not about to be the case. Regardless, they'd soon arrive at the destination, where he'd set the guy down by one of the cave's walls in a sitting position, a little ways inside of it. "Now then...I'll wager it might take me about 45 minutes to find and bring back all I need to help your wounds...so if there's anything you think can't wait, better tell me now." There were quite a few things he'd have to track down, so there was no way for him to just blitz about faster even if he rushed as much as possible. Whatever couldn't wait that long, he'd have to deal with before leaving, assuming he could. |

“Aww…no cheer? Alright…we can be realistic…” He was quiet aware of the situation and how it could end pretty badly if things decided to go down hill rather than up. Still even in the face of that reality and his situation, he kept his spirits as high as he could without wasting too much energy. Was he being too optimistic? Not really, but why be all frowns and seriousness over the ugly things in life? They would pass one way or another right? So why not deal with the issue one moment at a time? Did that mean don’t even consider the future or what ifs? No. All it meant was not to get so caught up those things that you became dragged into dark rabbit holes that their mysterious and often time mischievous rabbits could lead to. Besides the future wasn’t guaranteed anyway, so why be overly worried about it? Just focus on the present and go from there. Or at least that is what he used to not panic over all the possibilities out there and remain grounded so he could deal with the situation to the best of his abilities…even in a situation when said abilities were severely hampered by things.
“Mmm….I am not going to…complain. It gives us… a roof, a place near water…. and food sources….Why would it not be… fine for now? ….Though…just how far…. are we… from civilization?” Just what did he mean by hauling him very far? Did he somehow end up in the middle of nowhere through the chaos that had occurred before this point? Well it wasn’t like he was going to be finding that out any time soon unless his sight miraculously cleared all of a sudden. At least with sight he could tell if the place was familiar or not..though his nose was telling him it might not be. There was also the possibility the other could just tell him where they were if he was familiar with area. Either way that was an issue to resolve with some other things at later point. Right now he just needed to focus on healing up.
“Common sense…Heh…Few seem to…use it….or bother to be strategic….Either way…I am glad you aren’t…one of the…careless ones….” Now if the guy had not asked and had tried to give him something that simply could not be used on him or he could eat, he did have ways of saying no or letting the guy know it was an error. It would be extra work sure, but if it was needed he was willing to do it. Lucky for him though this guy was making it easy for him by asking questions and getting the facts straight from the start. One less struggle to worry about.
“All the…plants…huh? What…cha…gon..na... do with them?” he would ask softly as he heard the comment about needing just plants for the job. While his mind could think of some things that could be done with plants outside of food creations, he kind of wanted to know the details of what he was about to get into. The guy did say he didn’t have equipment on him for healing someone right? So did he simply know his plants well enough to use nature to his advantage then? It was a curious thing, but for now he would keep the questions relevant to the situation.
When they arrived at their destination some time later and he was sat down against the wall, he would wince a bit as he let his body settle before opening his eyes to mostly gloom. He could hear the water fall outside and felt the hardness of the rock against his body as more earthy tones replaced the grassy smell.
Blinking sleepily, he would shake his head. “Nothing comes…to mind except water….but I think I can hold out on that…until you return….” He was probably thirsty due to blood lost and other things. Even so as weak as he was he wasn’t too sure if he could get water up to his mouth without assistance just yet.

The Vamp Wolf | "You can cheer if you must, but I'd rather take it responsibly. It'd be too late to try and keep an eye out for the complications once you're already dead, so I'd prefer to do that now and make sure there will be no need for a funeral. You're in no state for a party of any sort anyway, my dear."
He wasn't truly fussing about the negatives at all, frankly. He was simply being a realist. All that he aimed for was to put it how it was and focus on the important things that would ensure the best chance of success. Optimism nor pessimism mattered. A spade would always be a spade, and choosing to sugarcoat it, or doomify it did not change that fact. He could acknowledge both the hopeful and the worrisome ways it could progress, but in the end what was most important was dealing with it all responsibly. He saw no merit in being excessively cheerful, because that would contribute fuck all to helping the guy recover. Just empty attitude. Perhaps some people were dependent on hearing positivity to make themselves at least feel better about it, but he saw that as a fake veneer. Though, he was willing to say that the chances were high...assuming they actually reasonably were. He just had a distaste for lying like that. Look. If it's bad and the person could potentially catch a life-threatening infection, he couldn't smile and tell them they were guaranteed to be fine and should celebrate already. That was a fat lie, and if the bad thing did happen afterwards, it'd hurt that much more to have it all crash down on their head unexpectedly. He didn't overly worry or get swallowed by the 'what ifs'. He just kept it in mind as a fact of reality. Ignorance is bliss, but only until it costs you something important.
Anyway..."Quite a bit? It might take about 2 or 3 hours of travel to get to the nearest town structure. On foot that is, and without running into complications such as aggressive wild creatures. One way or another, that's too far to try carrying you in your current state, and not to mention dangerous were anything to pick us out as prey. I can defend myself normally, but you'd be dead weight for me like this. Which is why we're temporarily sticking to the cave until you're good enough to make the trip safely." He wasn't taking such a big risk lightly. On top of that, carrying someone would likely prolong the trip further as he'd have to move slower than normally. It was simply no good right now.
"Being efficient and thorough enough is important for accomplishing any goal. Without any strategy in mind, one is only setting themselves up for eventual failure. Not everything can be improvised on spot without any prior research or knowledge." You could maybe afford to be more careless if your gig involved improvisation as the main go to, but otherwise a short-sighted view of things did more harm than good. "I may not be able to use any plants for myself, but I do know my wild flora theoretically. I plan to look for some herbs to put on those wounds. Not as perfect and simple as using made medicine, but the right combos still do some natural work." Way better than doing nothing and hoping the injuries close themselves properly without help.
He'd huff after setting the guy down and getting his answer. "I'll have to get something to carry water in first...if you think you'll be fine for a while, I can arrange that on the way too. You shouldn't keel from lack of water suddenly unless you've been laying there for days already. Hopefully not. You don't seem like you'd have lasted that long with those wounds." He didn't have many options. What would he do, dunk the guy's face in the river? That'd just require moving him again and would be rather rough. "Try not to go into a coma, okay?" He'd add, half-jokingly before turning around to leave for now. |

“The dead…certainly don’t….give you.. much to work….with, but….they sure can party…better than living at times,” he would begin with a weak smile and then becoming a bit more serious. He give a small sigh. “Don’t remind me…that I can’t party….how can I be irre...sponsible….if you do that?” It was a half-joke, but held a lot more meaning than the surface made it out to be. He was making it known that he was aware of the negatives, but at the same wasn’t about to be dragged down by the bad. He was just going to do his best no matter how this turned out. Was he scared? Yeah, but even so he wouldn’t just wallow in that. Call it stupidity, stubbornness, or denial if you want, but that was simply how he rolled. Though it would seem he wasn’t complaining about the logical or serious way the other was approaching this. While he couldn’t show it fully, he was actually pretty happy that this guy was not sugar-coating it all. His serious and focused outlook on the situation was actually more calming to him than the sugar-coated version which always brought him anxiety because it always hide the whole truth versus just facing or saying it up front. Maybe he was weird or something, but he just preferred that directness in matters like this. There was nothing hidden. Everything accept what ifs was revealed. Yes this was a better option. Even so did that mean he would be super serious and grim about it too? Make it doom and gloom? Nope. He was just going to be him in the end like or not. After all, one could try to keep high spirits and be aware of the truth right? Was it really lying if he could face it and still be able to smile a bit through it all?
Well maybe it wasn’t a lie, but it did require extra energy to do fully and after a few more seconds, that energy would begin to go down lower as he became more sleepy the more comfortable he got in the other’s arms. Even in that state, he was able to hear and focus on responses given to his question. To this one, he’d give a weak hum in response. “…I wouldn’t want…to be dead weight…or attractor anyway. Your decision….is fair enough.” If the guy really did try such a thing, he probably would’ve complained anyway. Not that he didn’t appreciate a good try, but one that held more pros than cons? He didn’t like those options. Not when there was a better way to tackle the same situation with time or thought. Besides…he didn’t exactly like people having to do double work to protect themselves and him from harm. In a battle, he would be dead weight indeed and while being carried was indeed nice, he much rather be able to aid or defend his own self if trouble came about from whatever lived out here. No it was just much better to wait until he was back on his feet. Anyway...“What is…the nearest town structure?” Might as well get some more information on where the hell he was.
That aside, he’d give a faint smile to the next bit amused despite his condition. “You…seem to plan it all out…versus…be spontaneous…” Interesting. They seemed similar, yet different. While the half-breed loved a good plan, he always left them loose to give wiggle room for whatever may happen or not happen. He went with the flow adapting as he went. Did he go into all things blind? No. Most of the time he did his homework unless it was something he intentionally wanted to go into blindly, but even in those situations he had the know how or found out the know how to survive and thrive in said situations. Did that make him an improvisor though? Hmm. A wandering thought that he pocketed for a later time. As for the plants…
“Theoretic..ally? Should I…be concerned?” he would ask the question in a semi-lighthearted way. While he didn’t think the guy would harm him, he honestly didn’t want to be a guinea pig to some horrible plant concoction if the guy didn’t know what he was doing. Still….he would take a try over nothing at this point. After all at least stuffing the wounds provided the plants were the right ones and not toxic, should at least stop the bleeding and help with covering and healing. If the guy could figure out the healing herbs though? Well, that certainly would be a blessing sent his way. Either way, he would leave his wellbeing in the guy’s hands for now and hope for the best. That aside, once he was settled against the wall and made his request for water, he'd close his eyes as he shook his head slightly. “I….am not sure….how long I was there…but I don’t…think it has been days…” Or at least he hoped it wasn’t. He couldn’t really figure out time at the moment, but the point was he wasn’t dying of thirst so maybe that meant it was a few hours? Maybe. “I dunno…maybe I got lucky…anyway…I’ll survive until you get back…and I won’t go into a coma.” He would open his eyes and give the other a small smirk at that one. No he wasn’t going to go into a coma. Sleep though? Maybe…He’d have to see once the guy was gone.
While he couldn’t see the guy leave, the fact the other’s scent became super faint as he exit let him know he was alone. Staring towards the light of the opening, he would take in the sounds of the water fall and his own breathing in the quietness of the cave. He was still shaking and miserable, but that was alright. At least the sounds around him were soothing....Yes...soothing. He would continue to listen to the sound for some time before exhaustion caught up with him and he began to close his eyes and drift into a very light sleep.
