welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

The Vamp Wolf | "You can't." He'd pause with an amused huff. "That works out in my favor though, since I do not want you to be irresponsible with your own life...no? Therefore, I don't have a reason to see a problem with my statement." Joking about it was one thing, trying to actually be reckless would be another. That said, he wasn't taking this extremely seriously, as long as there wasn't an indication that the guy seriously wished to rebel and make all the bad decisions.
At any rate, he wouldn't comment further on the choice of shelter issue for now, taking some moments to think about how to answer the location inquiry. Where were they really...? Well..."You could say that the closest in reach would be some of the suburb areas of the capital region of Mistere...where did you come from anyway?" Was the guy even from this country? If his memory wasn't deceiving him, he was pretty sure Kirin were only born in Hisakawa and thusly likely lived there outside of the stray individuals who travelled out of their natural homes despite their tendencies to not like parting away from the familiar. Though, the guy could have also been spending time with the Grims, whom could have a community in Mistere too. It had to have been one of the two, given family issues were mentioned.
Not spontaneous...that wasn't entirely true, to be fair. "I'm not setting a step by step plan. I just like to keep my basic goals in mind. I will adapt to circumstances if the need arises, however I find it better to have a solid idea of what I intend to achieve and approximately how. Full on spontaneous choices carry the risk of straying too far from the needed path and realizing that too late. I look ahead with the intention of making sure I do not end up running around like a headless chicken because I at first completely forgot to account for a lot of things." Rigid plans were dumb, he could agree with that. Not being willing to adapt anything on the go easily resulted in failure when the original plan simply couldn't work as it was anymore. Still, a loose plan held a lot more merit than having none at all and relying on pure luck to get everything done right.
He'd snort gruffly when his 'plan' was questioned. "No...I don't think you need to be. I meant theoretically...as in my knowledge is purely in theory and not real practice. As a werewolf, as well as having lived for years in the wild, I know how to identify the necessary plants and herbs. However, my vampire side makes me unable to use them on myself, and I'd hardly need to regardless with how fast I heal. Nor have I ever had an interest in becoming a medic for others. So I have the theoretical ability on what to look for and use, but I have never needed to actually treat anyone before." He'd shrug his shoulders vaguely. "It's sort of like having a qualified enough nurse who has all the textbook and class practice knowledge, but you're their first real patient. If that idea causes you worry, then I suppose you can be concerned." He couldn't stop the guy from feeling that way. He was still going to do what he had to though.
All that aside, he'd be gone for around the time he had originally mentioned, before coming back. It would appear that he had hunted himself down some large bovine animal to get some thick hide to make himself bags and pouches for carrying stuff in. Thus for the moment, it wouldn't be visible as to what all had he brought back with him. Nevertheless, he'd approach the sitting figure to see whether anything has happened or changed while he was out. |

Despite not being able to see clearly, was that amusement he detected in that huff the other gave? Did he actually play back? Well maybe he had and maybe he hadn’t. The half-breed’s tired mind didn’t have time to really make the decision quickly as it normally would as he kept the smile as he closed his eyes shaking his head weakly more amused by the situation than anything else. “Don’t worry… boss. You’re cool.” He would tease the other’s seriousness lightly, but to be frank he didn’t mind the other stating what he did and making it clear he rather not have him do something stupid. Not that he had to worry, the half-breed was much too “selfish” to toss his life away carelessly like that. Even so, he could joke about the matter with no harm coming to anyone. Besides, it gave his mind something to focus on outside of the pain and reality for a brief moment.
Jokes aside though, the smile and humor would melt away when he got his answer to the location question. At first he was calm, but then as the words sunk in he would blink a few times as he frowned. “What the hell…?” he would whisper his mind trying to comprehend what he was hearing. Did the guy just say Mistre? If that was true that explained why no one was hunting him. It was an odd trait of the kirin side of his family, but anyone of his clan never left their home location of Hisakawa for some unknown reason he didn't want to pick at right now. As for the Grim side of the family. Well they were scattered alright and probably even in Mistre, but finding them was already hard enough in Hisakawa. He had no idea about that side of the family outside his homeland. But that still left the question: How the hell did he end up crossing the boarder like that? Did he really run that far? Or was it the river? And if it was the river how had he not drowned along the way? In any case, the news did make him more alert as his mind reeled about, his body tensing slightly for a few moments before he registered the question and shook his head. “Hisakawa,” he would respond back after a moment of calming his thoughts. “And you...? Native here…or elsewhere?” Well this certainly put a different spin on things, didn’t it? Hmph. He’d just have to deal with that mess when he was able to function properly again.
That lovely news aside, he would turn his mind to the other conversation that came up.
“I…like a good…plan. Not a solid one though….Just a ske..skeleton of one, so it…has wiggle room. I have…goals….but am not afraid to go off the path….In the end…I get the tasks... done even if…I stray a bit….Your style is more focused….than my own…but similar in…some fashions…” He could keep focus and understood the risk of being spontaneous too much, but sometimes it was fun to do just that here and there provided it was for fun and nothing important was trying to be accomplished that is.
Speaking of getting things accomplished, it would seem his questioning of the other’s 'plan' got him an explanation rather than a brush off. That was a good thing considering he was genuinely concerned with the wording. He would take in the explanation and after consideration, give a soft hum. “Nah. I appreciate... the explanation….At least I know... I won’t be... getting killed by... you just randomly... grabbing things..” He would give the other a small smile. It seemed he was back to joking around a little. Even if he was still a bit nervous of how well the guy could actually deliver treatment, he was at least now more willing to trust the guy even more with his care.
In any case, once the chatter had ended and he was alone in the cave, the half breed would take to listening to the sounds of the waterfall and lightly dozing. When the other came back, he would still be dozing, a light frown on his face that was slightly damp with sweat as he seemed to be fighting a bit of pain. His hand had moved to try to press against the deepest of the wounds – the side one – but other than that, he seemed to be more or less the same. Still shivering as he continued to keep his eyes closed. He was quiet for a few seconds before his nose twitched a bit and he woke up a little. “Ah…welcome back…” he whispered, his voice a fainter than before probably because he was still a bit sleep despite noticing the other.

The Vamp Wolf | "At least we aren't in hell." Not that it wouldn't be manageable, but the current situation was by all means better than options of that caliber. "I am from here, yes. Well, I live in the capital city, not on these plains specifically, but nevertheless..." He'd shake his head lightly. "I don't assume that as a foreigner, you've got some passport on you?" He'd question with faint amusement before turning a little more serious. "How did you get all the way here like that?" It was not just a casual walk all the way from Hisakawa, even if one lived close by the borders, which may not even be the case with this guy. "It has nothing to do with being afraid. I just prefer to keep efficient as long as I can. You wouldn't want me to stray now and carry you all over the place exploring to see whether I randomly find a different shelter because 'what if'....even though it's less risk and less time waste to just go with what I've already got, would you now? Wandering off the path can make you lose track of time or your original purpose. I like to get my results in a timely matter, and preferably cleanly. Is being extra creative included as a desirable part of the goal? Then sure I suppose. However if it is not, I'd rather not walk fifty miles instead of ten simply to explore on the side." He was by no means the 'mad scientist' type who thought it most fun when they could experiment left and right and fiddle with how they did things just to see where it went. He was most pleased by actually getting the goal he set out for done, and as efficiently as possible. Adapting on the go or using innovative methods was fine, but trying random unnecessary things on top of it...well it was usually unnecessary and only delayed getting the final result. When the other mentioned him grabbing random plants on his trip, he'd hmph faintly. "Maybe I should just to mess with you....but no, you needn't worry about that part, although it'd be tempting to bring you some nettles to test if the sting doesn't cover over the pain." Would be a good joke, were the situation less serious. Alas, he couldn't afford to be that much of a jerk here. ~~~ "Well, it seems you're still alive...anything changed?" He'd eye the guy briefly now that he was back, before moving beside him to put down his new leather bags with stuff as he waited for the response. "Also, can you move enough to drink by yourself?" |

“No…we aren’t there….yet….Though it…can sometimes…feel like it.” He wondered with all the species around if there was a way to get into hell and if so why would one want to go there if it wasn’t for business purposes. It wasn’t a pleasant place according to all the documents on it anyway. While he was sure he could survive in such a place, he wasn’t too eager to go to actual hell any time soon. “….A city guy….Familiar with….these plains…despite that?” He wondered if the guy came outside of the city just to explore or if he would’ve been here without needing to come out for his job of hunting. Speaking of going places… "…Uh…no….Am I…going to be….shipped back….?” To be frank, he hadn’t planned on coming outside of his country without his sister and while he had been doing some research into what all that entailed….he didn’t exactly get around to doing the paperwork just yet. He hadn’t expected to end up out of country so soon anyway. Even if he did have one, he still wouldn’t just be carrying it on him without the intention of leaving. Besides, if he had it would’ve probably gotten torn or washed away anyway. Hrmm…. "To be frank…I am not…too sure. I am assuming….somewhere in…my escape…I fell into the river... and then….by some miracle didn’t drown…and it carried me…here….It is hard to say….It’s…blurry.” He could see some snippets here and there of the events clearly, but honestly his escape was a blur. He wasn’t sure what path he had taken or how he ended up in the river to begin with and trying to trace it now wasn’t helping matters at all. It only confused him more. He would let that one go with a small sigh. There was nothing to be done about that right now. Hopefully, he wouldn’t be kicked back without one and could find some way to stay here until he could make some plan to go back. On the note of plans, it would seem the other’s words would get a weak laugh from the half-breed, his behavior amused despite it all. “That is…a fair point…You have an…interesting way of…showing your view…I like that…” Analytical and grounded. Well, he supposed that was good. Though, he didn’t think one had to be ‘a mad scientist’ to want to explore a place. He was prone to explore himself though not in situations were it was uncertain if Lady Death would come to collect him. He could appreciate the fact that the guy was focused and not all over the place. At least he appeared to care and wanted him to live despite them being strangers. It was comforting and saved him a whole lot of energy on complaining and worrying if he had been the latter anyway. “Heh….” Well he tried to laugh, but found himself pausing to cough instead, the jerky action making him wince in the end as the pain came back for a second or two. When it was all over, he would relax again and shake his head. “Let’s not…add to the pain…” Nestle were literally a pain in the ass on a normal day. If the other did bring any back even as a joke, they would not be appreciated. Still he didn’t think he had to worry much in the end. **** “I…live…yes…” he would begin with a tired smile as he cracked his eyes open slightly still unable to see clearly. “I just…keep feeling…hot and cold….all at once…There is pain and shivering...but it is the same…as far as I can tell….Outside of that…just sleepy…and thirsty.” He would give the report to the other as best he could as he forced himself to be more awake. He would move his head to follow the shadow of the other, the scent of some other animal there, but he couldn’t place his finger on it now. “I can….swallow. Not sure if I can…hold whatever you…brought it back in alone….Can try and see…” If it was something small and light he could probably manage, but anything with some good weight to it? Probably not.

The Vamp Wolf | "Does it? Actual hell isn't quite about the kind of suffering people like to liken it to. Those are just some religious stories about hell being punishment after death and all that mumbo jumbo. You're more likely to get burned alive or torn apart by the resident demons down there, than hell being anything like the mental or various other physical pains of life." Honestly, in his opinion the place was overrated, especially by people who didn't know a lot about it. Yes, the underworld was a dangerous place to venture into, but it also wasn't guaranteed suffering if you were prepared and knew what routes to take. Definitely not somewhere you'd go for a day trip, but it was nevertheless possible to visit down there. He'd half-shrug at the questions. "To an extent. Wildlife changes with time, so I can't be an expert even if I tried." Still, he knew enough to make his way around, and the rest could simply be adapted to on the way. Some things can't be predicted, and the precise locations of wild beasts were among them, for example. Even a casual walk out here could accidentally turn bloody. "I also honestly don't know. From my current knowledge, I'd say you ought to have some form of identification at least, but I'm not sure whether the legal system would handle issues like this on a person to person basis or not. I doubt you'd be the first person to cross the borders without realizing it. Many less educated people may not even know where the borders really begin and end." It was kind of tricky, especially with how easy it could be to slink around for a lot of species. If they focused on apprehending every 'illegal' entrant, they'd waste all their time. "All I did was speak, but knock yourself out..." How was his way of showing it interesting? He hadn't even demonstrated anything. All he had done was give verbal essays. In any case... ~~~ He'd furrow his brows a bit. "Sounds like you're running a fever then. Which is not that bad...although I don't have a way to check how high it is." It was a good thing, as long as it didn't climb dangerously high, but he'd just have to hope on that front. He had no way to replicate a thermometer with just natural stuff. "I only used boar hide to make bags to carry things in. It's not in any way very heavy. Though it is a rather malleable material, so one way or another you'll probably get some water on you as well." There wasn't anything sturdy he could have magically grabbed. Theoretically, wood could be carved into a cup of some kind, but that'd take far too long to properly do. He didn't have time to sit and do wood sculpting just for that one purpose. |

“If…hell is really…like you describe…then I’ve been…living in it up to..this point.” Though up until recently had managed to avoid serious damages. He had played by the rules enduring whatever they threw at him as he tried to achieve his goal. When he was tired of playing by the rules he had tried another way and well here were the end results of that. An annoying set back, but he would live and would succeed. He was sure of that…inwardly at least. Outwardly and physically his body was trying to put up a good argument on why he could be wrong. Even so, he endured and just did his best to survive this stage of life.
Personal hells and general hell aside, he would listen to the answer in regards to the other’s knowledge of the place and the whole passport thing. He wouldn’t say much to the first part, accepting what the other said well enough before he would give a small hum at that end of it all as he sighed lightly. “Well…I’ll deal with that….fun when I get there.” Yeah, he was pretty sure that there were a lot of undocumented folks all over the place, but he rather have paperwork at his back just in case. Regardless that was neither here or now.
His mind would drift away from to dos and focus on the present, a faint smile being the only response to the last thing said by the other before things drifted their own way and they ended up in the cave. With the other’s return and his report given, he would listen as the other spoke about a fever. He closed his eyes as he leaned his head against the wall. “No surprise there…” With the way his body felt in general from the pain, he’d say that the beating, bleeding, and the unexpected swim probably was doing a lot more to his body than they knew. It was no telling what it all was fighting as it tried to stay alive at this point. “Let’s hope… it doesn’t get worse,” he would say reopening his eyes as he heard about what the other brought the stuff back. “Mmm…Okay…Well I can try it…but stay close….I don’t want to waste it all…” He was willing to try things on his own, but he wasn’t a fool. He knew in his state control and strength might be an issue, so he didn’t even bother pretending otherwise.
