Name of Talent: Ether/Chi Control
Concept: There is a theory that all creatures, all objects, all nature and all elements are imbued with ethereal power that defines the existence itself. Some may call it 'chi', some call it 'ether' and some simply call it 'energy'. Certain individuals are born with power to sense such energy and bend it to their own will. Those without such skill may learn it, but it takes rigorous training to do so. Beatrix is one of several people on the planet with this Talent or, at least, a different variation of it- member of Raven and her friend, Leo, has that Talent, but it is restricted to Ether Infusion- though it is much more potent in that field.
This Talent allows Beatrix to sense and manipulate Chi / Ether (however you wish to name it) in her own body, others' bodies, objects and her surroundings. There are restrictions to how and when she can manipulate certain aspects of this. This Talent can be used offensively, defensively and supportively- each one of these will be explained down below.
Offense
She can gather ether out of the surroundings and form it into energy projectiles of various shapes and sizes. Now, I cannot include everything in mechanics because the details depend on your imagination. Will projectiles be star-shaped, arrow-shaped, ball-shaped? Up to your imagination. Now her imagination determines how she performs this maneuver. She may rapidly produce and fire tiny energy projectiles in form of rapid-fire which can cover a lot of area and is good against quick targets, but it has huge damage fall-off and not much damage to begin with. Then she could produce bigger projectiles without much effort- they have better damage, but are slower. She can produce a projectile with size up to a tank, but producing something that large will take a bit of time and it is a slow projectile so it is rather ineffective against many targets, but very effective against slow or stationary targets. She may also channel the ether to be flame-like for hitting cluttered targets, but there is no burning effect or smoke.
Damage Effectiveness: This 'pure' energy has no elemental affiliation. That means- whoever is hit they will always take full damage of the blow, no more, no less- just normal damage. It is energy that nobody is weak against, but neither resistant or immune. Unless... somebody has a talent that nullifies damage itself or increases it- then this will do more or less damage. This is a double-edge sword. Once ether projectile hits something or someone it disperses immediately.
Defense
She can infuse anyone or anything with ether or concentrate their own ether to make them a bit more resistant to any damage. This is not as good as it sounds.
Support
She can infuse anyone with ether or concentrate their own ether into a specific spot on or inside the body to stimulate body's regenerative powers. Regenerative powers of the body start booming and quickly heal wounds. This sounds neat, but it's weakness will be explained.
Alternative Offense Use
She can gather ether and instead of firing it she can store it inside objects or even body parts. Concentrated ether there does not disperse immediately after hitting something or somebody. Due to that objects or body parts may be used for attacking and their damage along with effects will be amplified due to the force of ether inside them. She may infuse up to 2 targets this way at the same time. Weaknesses explained in mechanics. This is Beatrix's favorite form of usage when it comes to stealth attack missions she used to do- she would infuse her bladed weapons and aim for weak spots.
Extra(s): Beatrix's body has a faint white glow which means ether is gathering around her. If she speaks her voice leaves a faint echo.
Positive Mechanics: 1. It can be used to gather ether and use it as projectile. There are more ways than stated below, but these are Beatrix uses.
- Rapid-Fire: Quickly generate projectiles and fire them- you can cover a lot of area and easier to hit quick targets.
- Standard fire: Generating something around the size of a soccer ball- decent against all targets. Decent charging time before firing.
- Heavy fire: Anything beyond the soccer ball in significant difference. Does a lot of damage. Pretty good against slow/immobile targets.
- Flame: Spread the ether like fire which is good against cluttered targets. Does not generate smoke (it's not real fire).
- Shockwave: Powerful stomp creates a shockwave that hits everyone around you. Good if surrounded.
2. It can be used to increase one target's resilience by 1 and restore some of their lost health and stamina. Good for reinforcing someone fragile.
3. It can be used to stimulate regenerative abilities- one's wounds start healing rather quickly.
4. It can be used to infuse up to 2 targets with ether- when used offensively these targets have amplified damage and effects (e.g. poison becomes more potent, too). Ether is fully concentrated inside the targets for 5 minutes after which it slowly begins to disperse.
- Ether does not disperse immediately on hit which is good since it does not restrict you to one hit.
5. No elemental affiliation: Enemies do not have natural resistances or immunities to it unless they protect themselves from any damage with their Talent or unless their nature simply reduces any damage done to them.
Negative Mechanics: 1. Rapid Fire: Low damage, high damage fall-off, low accuracy.
2. Standard fire: Not as effective against targets focused on speed.
3. Heavy fire: Takes time to charge, projectile is rather slow.
4. Flame: No burning effect- it is not real fire to begin with. Once you hit someone they are not set on fire.
5. Amount of restored health or stamina is nothing compared to real healing power- this is like a last resort if someone is out of energy and health.
6. Regenerative ability cannot restore lost limbs and it is ineffective against huge wounds.
7. As said, infusion is fully functional until 5 minutes pass- ether begins to disperse. Once 10 minutes pass it does not matter how much ether is still inside the object- Ether Burst will happen and all ether will disappear from it immediately.
8. No elemental affiliation: No one is weak against it... unless they really want to be.
