welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

It has been some time since announcements for Combat and Self-Defense Classes were posted on the hallway boards. As it appeared, there were plenty of interested students and it was regrettable that the limit was 6, but for the time being six is the maximum. Knowledge and skills students may uncover or improve during these classes could prove invaluable in their futures- the world is a big place with many wonderful things, but also many dangers. In a world where magical creatures and powers exist it is difficult to say it is a safe world.
Combat Instructor, Beatrix Valentine, former member of a mercenary organization known as Ravens has come to the Eldritch Academy through a letter of recommendation for her wide array of skills in numerous fields. High proficiency in combat would, definitely, be one of those skills. Her job of a combat instructor may appear rather ironic when her attire is taken into consideration; it is quite unusual to see someone in her field to wear... maid uniform. Why would a maid be working as a teacher to begin with? Why would maid even hold combat classes out of all things? Wouldn't home economics make more sense? Those are all questions some might ask once they stumble upon her and if they want to know there is no force stopping them from trying.
As arranged in the announcements the classes would start with a meeting at the pool on the training grounds at 15:00. Beatrix arrived about twenty minutes earlier to familiarize herself further with the layout of the area and to think of various ways she could utilize the training grounds in improving the students. She pulled a small notebook out of her pocket and began writing things down- areas she could use for practical exams, additional challenges she may put up for students later on... and grocery shopping list for her new masters. She spent about 15 minutes standing near the pool and writing.
"Time sure flies by... the class should be here any minute now." She said to herself quietly in a rather gentle tone.

She signed up for any of the physical classes she could, being as she was a very sporty athletic sort of girl it was the natural decision for her. "Good Morning Teacher." it seemed both herself and this teacher had fondness for being early to things as only about 10 minutes after the teacher arrived early, she also came into the pool area ahead of schedule. Lavender figured she would be getting along very well with this teacher! If the one mentoring her arrived early it meant that they could get the most out of each class, even more than if the teacher simply arrived on time. This class?! Was another chance for her to excel compared to her peers if she just put that extra effort in like this. "I'm one of your new students, Lavender Floretta Smith." introducing herself was the first step to getting things moving so she could learn how to defend herself even though she was only human. Of course, one major danger to her health would be obvious, she was wearing a necklace to a combat class.

"Good morning indeed," a soft voice would say as a strange young man dressed in laid back oriental style clothing appeared shortly after one of the students did. Much like the two before him he was early something he liked to be even if the sleepy expression on his face suggested he rather be in bed. Regardless of this, the man held himself up quite well as he clasped what appeared to be some books in his hands. He would give a light nod to the student before letting his eyes drift towards the maid. It was a curious thing to see a maid teaching combat and defense class, but he knew from experience to never judge a book by its cover. Especially when it came to the ladies. Despite how they looked women were often the more deadlier of the warriors around, so he did not question too much what he saw as he opened his mouth and spoke to the woman. "My name is Rika, a librarian of this school. I've come here to observe and take notes, though if you need assistance with the class in anyway just let me know," the man would tell the instructor of the class before falling silent to observe who else would come.

Kaname walked briskly to Combat and Self-Defense Class, barely able to contain her excitement. It was a class that was custom-made for her. It taught something that was within her interests and skills that would be of value to her. The best part was that she could bring her sword and that no one could complain. It was a combat-oriented class, not a basket-weaving class.
Kaname did not care if she got hurt. She had already died once before. What was the worst that could happen? Get stabbed in the chest again? Whatever.
Kaname walked briskly through the door while carrying her most valued possession. The sword meant a lot to her. A LOT. So much so that even being away from it adversely affected her mood. With it in her hand, the hybrid was as cheerful as she could be.
"I'm Hayamoto Kaname, 9th grade!" Kaname introduced herself to everyone present with great cheer, having to tone it down to avoid creeping people out. She noticed that Lavender was here. The smaller girl's presence was welcome. Kaname would be among friends.
"Hi Lavender. How's it going?" The chipper hybrid asked. Downing three expressos made sure Kaname was more than able to pay attention in class. She would also have energy to spare. She was ready for this.

Two people have already arrived to the destination. Beatrix could recall name 'Lavender' very clearly from the application sheets. Name 'Rika' did ring a bell from the faculty sheets, but right until now Beatrix knew absolutely nothing about him. According to him he was going to act as an observer during the classes and would provide any help if Beatrix needed it. Considering she has been here for only a few days she may require help here and there- any help was welcome.
"Pleased to meet you, Lavender." Beatrix responded and gently bowed just like a maid would. She had a surprisingly calm and soothing tone for someone teaching combat classes. She had a gentle gaze that was set upon her student. Considering it was close to 15:00 in the afternoon it sure was a 'good morning'- Beatrix smiled at Lavender. "Looking forward to see you in action very soon." She said.
Her attention quickly turned to Rika. She bowed again in sign of respect. "Pleased to meet you. I extend my thanks for your selfless generosity. I would be more than happy to have you with us." She greeted Rika with respect. Being someone raised like herself she cannot help but talk in such... formal yet calm and soothing way. She was still waiting for some of the students before she could get to the main course. It appeared to be a promising day for her class.
Shortly after them a very young girl appeared as well. She introduced herself as 'Kaname'- another name that Beatrix recognized easily from the sheets. "Hello, Kaname. Pleased to meet you. I am looking forward to us working together." Beatrix greeted the newcomer.

Alright, this class looks promising. Sususmu has been in many a scuffle, both as aggressor and defendant, but he has never received formal instruction before. Anything that would help him gain an upper hand in combat would be a help, as annoying as the lessons might be.
The first class will take place, apparently, at a pool. Sususmu has never been to the pool before, as he would only contaminate the water with his ever-flowing demon blood, so he arrives with trepidation. The first two people he notices are Kaname and Lavender--they're everywhere, aren't they--who he pointedly ignores. The third person he notices is a maid, or at least someone dressed as one. Students are going up to her and introducing themselves, so she must be the combat instructor. How odd.
He shuffles up to the instructor, hands in his pockets. "Sususmu," he mumbles by way of introduction, glancing suspiciously at the woman. Fantastic, another human. "Ya really the teacher? Yer clothes dun' look very... practical."

"It is a pleasure to be here," the half breed would respond back giving the other a respectful bow in turn before becoming quiet and making himself the note taker for now. He would shift the books in his arms managing to somehow open the top one in an elegant fashion as he began to jot down who was there. He took note of the first two seeing that one seemed friendly enough, but then as a third came in completely ignoring the majority. He would write down the name his sensitive ears could pick up and then pause as a rather amusing topic came up - the teacher's dress wear. While the horned man did not so much as crack a smile at this one, he did look over at the student for a moment before red eyes would shift to Beatrix as he watched to see what sort of reaction she would have towards such a question.

Being early wasn't really Kiran's thing, but he'd already been out and about nearby. Before this class, he'd had a free period. After sitting in stuffy classrooms most of the morning, cramming lunch down his face, then having one more mind numbing class until he gained a moment of freedom had been enough for the Phoenix. He needed to stretch his wings, so to speak. To tell the truth, he couldn't even remember what was said in class today. All he could think of was getting outside. A caged bird doesn't sing.
Already dressed in a pair of runner's shorts with a matching tank, both in black, Kiran had done many stretches and laps around the courtyard. While he may shirk homework and general academics, he fully enjoyed training and physical activity. It was when his brain was most clear. It was when he could digest all the info thrown at him and make sense of it on his own terms. And, most importantly, it's when he usually got the ladies' attention. The tattooed teen's lips turned up in a half smile, cocky and amused as his mind wandered a bit.
Sufficiently warmed up, his course altered to the area that held the pool. Might as well get there and see what it would be like. Upon arrival, his quick steps stopped in bewilderment. It seemed the teacher was...the maid? Maybe the chlorine fumes wafting from the pool waters were too strong. Could someone hallucinate from chlorine fumes? That felt like something he might have been taught in science, but effectively purged from his mind. There was no way this maid could be the teacher, yet here stood other students around her, acting as any other academy sheep do under the gaze of authority. A ghostly girl with a sword, a young brunette with a strange necklace, someone actually dripping blood everywhere, and a dark entity who...might be the real instructor? To be truthful, neither of the adults present looked the part. Maybe this class wouldn't be the easy class right up his alley he thought it was gonna be. "Am I in the right place?" he asked, pulling his slightly damp locks back into a nicer ponytail. Running had mussed it. "Combat and Self-Defense?" the phoenix inquired more, growing more incredulous by the second. This was the right area, but maybe the class had moved last second and this was...pool cleaning 101 or something. However, the maid did have a roster, so he might as well make sure before he rushed to find the correct class. "I'm Kiran Jiang, maybe I'm in the wrong place..."

As the time passed more people joined the lively conversation. Almost everyone from the application sheet was present along with a helpful observer on the side. The first class was not intended to be long- main focus would be on getting to know each other a bit better so Beatrix would have a better grasp of what sort of training would suit each person the best. It did not matter even if someone was late as it would be done leisurely for now.
Questions were already hurling in maid's direction. Those were all reasonable inquiries as it was rather unusual for someone dressed as her to be teaching a class- especially a combat-oriented class. "Hehe, yes, I am going to serve as your teacher in Combat and Self-Defense Classes. You are both in the right place." Beatrix responded to the duo that just arrived and was wondering about her clothing and if this was the place where these classes were supposed to be held.
"Apart from my class responsibilities I serve in other various fields and areas which may require of me to dress appropriately. Today's class is focused on informing you of the curriculum as well as getting to know you a bit better so I figured there was no need to change in my combat attire yet." Beatrix explained the story behind her odd outfit. A good guess would be that she serves someone of high rank since she dresses like a maid- though she saw no need for going into details about it unless it was of important matter to speak of it. Her combat attire was definitely versatile in comparison to the maid outfit, but with the training she had there was no need to worry the outfit would be impractical. "Don't worry- you will be able to see the attire next week." She happily exclaimed. The combat outfit definitely has a certain... appeal that may become popular with the male members of the class, but that is a mystery for another week. "I already see we are going to have a lot of fun together." She said with a happy tone.

It looked like all the students were here. Kaname was ready to start learning how to kick ass and chew bubblegum. Once the pleasantries were out of the way, the fun could begin. That guy had a good question. Why was their combat instructor dressed like a maid? The instructor soon provided an answer. She did not change because there was going to be no action today. They would actually get into the fighting next week. That sucked. Today's class was all about learning the curriculum and getting to know the students. What a letdown. She was really looking forward to today. Next week had better make up for today's disappointment.

And another had come, a bit lost, but that was okay. He gave a name and once more the half-breed wrote it down as he kept his silence for now and simply watched how the teacher handled the class and the questions thrown her way. Unlike some, she was not offended by the question regarding her clothing. In fact, she took it quite well and explained exactly why she wore such odd clothing. She said she had other duties making Rika wonder just who she worked for to require such an outfit though he would not pry for now as he let her explain the class.
Today would be like any start of a class: introductions and learning what the class was all about. It seemed the woman wanted to get a feel for her students so that she could later make training that was best for each of them. Seemed like a smart plan to begin with meaning, for him this would probably be quite relaxing. Flicking his tail slightly, the horned man would continue to observe for now saving any interactions for later.

It was not long after the very pleasent greetings that the bird man from before came in insulting the teacher. Didn't that boy have any tact whatsoever? So uncoth to make his first action questioning the person they were supposed to be learning from. Oh well, hopefully the teacher was smart enough to find some way to put the boy in his place later, he just needed a stern nature some people lacked his antics with the initial refusal to go the nurse had shown that. "She's teaching not running onto a battle field." the girl shrugged as she made the comment offering Kana a sweet little smile. Going over what they'd be doing in future classes sounded great. "Though Miss, if proper attire is going to be a thing in the future even for students I should inform you ahead of time, the necklace I'm wearing has been stuck on me long as I can remember everyone in my family and everyone from my old school tried, it just won't come off it's some sort of enchanted object but it doesn't do anything I've found yet." little did she know this was because there was a specialized way to remove it which first involved her having to know what she was, which was not something she knew. How could be expected to ever take it off, when she didn't even truly know what it was? The necklace was strange to say the least, a collection of jewels in a metallic setting shaped to resemble an eclipsed full moon. "So I'll do my best to keep correct attire for class, but I can't help the pendant." Little did she know it actually was doing something, all the time, 24/7 working to prevent something she wasn't even aware could happen.

Beatrix could already tell this was a rather promising class- there were students with different personalities which made things rather lively already. Of course, some were not going to be satisfied with how it looked right away, but Beatrix's intentions were to turn up the heat once the combat training begins. As for the attire everybody has been focusing on- her combat attire is significantly different in design and purpose; some might argue it would be too revealing, but it was not a regular teaching class anyway and it was never denied to begin with. With the training Beatrix had running around in maid uniform would not prove as troublesome as everyone assumes, but with combat clothing it definitely would be much easier.
Beatrix approached Lavender with a curious look on her face. She was staring in the direction of the necklace for a few second as if she was thinking of a solution to that- it was early to tell anything based on few exchanged words. "By the next class I will make sure to add some modifications which should prevent any risks involved." Beatrix said, but she kept it vague to what modifications she was going to implement. Lavender did seem like a rather responsible individual so Beatrix was certain that any modifications she could implement would work well with Lavender and would not cut any experience out of her training. The mystery around the necklace poked Beatrix's interest though- curiosity about the necklace was rising up, but it would not be appropriate to keep poking into the matter... for now, at least. Though, her curiosity was that of a cat so she was bound to poke eventually.
"Hmm... we still do some members missing. It is fine though- we can begin with some light things." Beatrix announced as she observed the list of students applied for the class. Beatrix took another small notebook from one of her uniform pockets and began writing things down. "Now, if you do not mind- I would like to know a bit more about you all- about what you expect from the class, what you like and dislike, what Talent you have and if you have any previous combat experience. If you do not feel comfortable talking about it we can leave it if you ever feel comfortable to share. Any volunteers to start off?" Beatrix inquired as she was very curious about students' powers. She did not show it much, but she was enjoying listening to others' stories and theories behind Talents and seeing or learning about a new Talent would make her day. It was like a hobby of hers to write those things down and think about them.

He would continue to jot down his notes pausing a bit when the girl named Lavender mentioned her pendant. A necklace that she could not get off? How intriguing. It was something he wanted to learn more about and see if maybe there was a way of releasing the necklace from the girl. It would be an interesting topic to research for sure, but for now he would only make a note about it before going back to observing the class.
It seemed the teacher was willing to make adjustments to her class for Ms. Lavender’s predicament so that was good. It showed the woman was adaptable and cared for her students well being. Very nice. That aside though, it seemed the class was about to start even if some people were missing. To what was said, the librarian was quiet for a few moments as he looked at the students to see who would answer first, but after a while decided that he would start this round table off since he was here and shouldn't act like a fly on the wall.
“I’ll start," he would begin as he shifted in his spot. "My name is Rika Sakia. I like good food, but cannot stand licorice. I am the librarian of this school, but also a traveler, so I’ve seen my share of combat out on the road. I have knack for summoning and expect all of you to have fun and grow from this class,” he would say as he flicked his tail and watched the group around him.

It was a relatively nice day out. The sun was still hanging high in the sky, about reaching it's daily zenith. Aspen had been excited for her first class, combat and self-defense out of all things, a class the girl would hope to excel in and was confident she would do exactly that. The girl from the famous Arkaian mercenary family, oligarchs as some would call them, nobles as she and her family would say, had already spent a good deal of her life training tactics and spent some time on the battlefield. She knew how to fight a battle when she had to. For now, however, Aspen was struggling with a tough battle of an entirely different nature.
"What do you mean, you're out of chocolate milk ?", the girl asked a woman behind a counter, the people in line behind her sticking out their heads to see what the tumult was about. Once more, the girl's raised voice, while monotonous and devoid of emotion, rang out, increasingly filled with what could be interpreted as anger. "How can you call yourself a cafeteria if you cannot even ensure that your supply chain is well maintained and cared for ? If your soldiers found themselves encircled behind enemy lines, ma'am, frankly, they would starve. But fine. Water it is", throwing the nervously smiling and admittedly confused looking cashier a few of the metal coins she was carrying around in her pockets all the time. Thinking about it, this again would decrease her combat effectiveness. The more metal the better. Annoyed, but with unchangingly stoic expression, the girl took a sip from the bottle of water before storing it in one of her pockets, taking her phone out of another pocket, the display lighting up to display 4 numbers. "15:15"
The girl's eyes widened. "Shit", she mumbled to herself before turning around on her heel and storming out of the cafeteria. Already late for her first class. Great. Marvelous. She would leave just the best impression with not only her teacher, but her fellow students as well. Well, she couldn't care less about those, but leaving a bad first impression, she had learned, would usually determine one's view of a person, and she really couldn't afford that with someone who was supposed to judge and grade her. About 5 minutes later, she could see the location given on the sign up approaching fast, slowing her sprint with heavy breath as she came to a stop behind the small group that had formed around a woman in a maid outfit. Well, that was nothing new to the girl. She had had servants back home in similar attire, but this one, as center of the group, seemed to be the person holding the authority here. "Azarov, Aspen. My firm apologies for my belatedness. I ... was held up by an unexpected issue. I can assure you that this will not happen again. Please, if you allow, I would still like to participate", still taking in deep breaths, bowing as she gave her apology, though still with voice unchanged, monotonous while largely ignoring the other students. There would be time for getting acquainted later, for now, she focussed on the essential.
