I never thought I'd see
Good child? He made it sound like she was a pet or something? Kurenai digress, she was no pet and no she wasn’t a child either. She grew out that phase when she realized she wasn’t going to experience what a normal childhood feels like. Not like it bothered her, she was raised with a mature mindset, being a child never was in her family’s list of priorities which is why… the child they raised ended up as a workaholic at such a tender teenage age.
For one reason or another Kurenai’s senses twitched, as though something in the air didn’t feel right to the young girl. Like a voice whispering in her ear of her pride being put to question by someone from ajar was jokingly comparing her to a puppy for being such a good girl. But maybe it’s just paranoia, or an overly sensitive second sense towards insults.
Shaking the thought off she veered her attention over the nearly finished desert she was a few bites from finishing. It ended so soon, the delicious relief she got from the frozen mixture of sugar and dairy ended as soon as she took that last bite of the waffled cone. “Uhm…sure.” She replied to his statement about her trying out the chocolate syrup concoction he was enjoying. But then it turned into… was that a laugh? It definitely sounded like a laugh trying to bubble out of her lips as she turned the other direction. Hand covering her mouth as the giggles tried escaping her dainty little throat from poor phoenix’s plight.
Brain freeze. She’s heard about it, but she had no reason to show sympathy when it was directly his fault for consuming such a cold treat at such a rapid pace. Call it tough love, sometimes she can be such a scolding mother just except for being vocal about it. “Maybe you should be more careful Kiran-san…” She snickered, trying to control her fits of giggles. It wasn’t polite to laugh at someone’s expense but let her enjoy those few moments of being a normal child her age before reality slams back at her to remind the girl she’s breaking her own polite protocol.
“Etto….Kiran-san what time is it?” The girl asked out of the blue. The lingering pinches of her inner alarm calmly prodded at her as a subtle reminder for her to start thinking through her list. She had a feeling she was forgetting something but what?...
