Time and time again, she has repeated that description. She is dull, reserved, boring. There is nothing interesting about her, there is nothing relatively worth getting to know. Everything about her is normal, and perhaps the least adventure anyone can ask for. She is quiet and though generally unapproachable, she is gentle. She doesn't speak out of line, and she doesn't seek to much social interaction. All in all, she's a reserved woman. She's an introvert who grows exhausted in social situations and, truthfully, she's horrid at it. [break][break]

It doesn't matter how much one tries to pry, nor does it matter how often they try to peel the shell. She is a woman of few words, never speaking more than she needs to, even for a lesson. If she didn't have to explain, then she will not. She's hard working, diligent and earnest - when nobody is watching. She plays fair, she isn't a liar, a cheater; she is faithful to the rules and those around her. She's patient and an active listener, however, subtle and passive she may be majority of the time. But though she has a heart of gold, she's too quiet. She doesn't know how to talk to others, she isn't a social woman (no matter how much she tries, she always seems to stumble over her words to make herself out a fool). In other words, she's awkward. She is a very awkward woman, who will most likely make the room uncomfortable just by entering. Perhaps she is just misunderstood; someone who past that cold exterior, just hopes for a friend to talk to. Someone she can come home to and laugh with and at. But the idea of affection wins her over, flying over her rationality. She believes others, she is trusting, to the point it's gullible (she's oblivious to the man who has been using her for years, so blinded she doesn't see the love that bursts through the doors). She's apologetic, and forgiving. Forgive and forget; her motto that has perhaps thrown her into this spiral of misfortunate events. She is a foolish woman who fails to deceive others; a transparent woman who will sooner be swallowed up by the shark waters of this society. [break][break]

Perhaps she is aware of her vulnerability, she perhaps she knows how others overburden her. Yet she does nothing, she is unwilling against their abuse - no matter how loyal, faithful and humble she is, she does nothing (a woman who gives herself no credit, so gives herself an identity by turning into the doormat).[break][break]

From average domestic cat height, to human size. Nekomata and Kasha specifically can be many meters high and/or long.

Baseline Appearance[break]
Bakeneko generally appear as basic cats, some of which can stand and walk on their hindlegs. In human form, oftentimes their feline ears, tail, claws, and fangs are visible.

Culture/Origin[break]
Bakeneko begin their lives as ordinary, unintelligent domestic cats. Upon growing older and hitting what is deemed a long period of time to have lived, the felines become self-aware and gain the ability to speak common languages. As they grow, they often become larger in size, sometimes reaching human height when standing, and learn many types of uncanny innate abilities. Bakeneko are innately malevolent and mischievous. If a Bakeneko lives long enough and grows in their malevolent nature, they become a Nekomata-- a larger and darker version of a Bakeneko, and possess a forked or two tails. Nekomata tend to prey on other beings, specifically humans. Kasha are the epitome of cat malevolence. They constantly crave flesh

Traits[break]
• Shapeshifting | Bakeneko can shapeshift into a variety of forms, including that of humans, monsters, and other cats.[break]
• Re-Animation | Bakeneko possess the uncanny ability to bring corpses back to life and use them as puppets.[break]
• Ghost Fire | Cats have the ability to summon and use a ghostly fire for protection, misdeeds, or fighting.[break]
• Poison Resistance | Once they have grown enough, Bakeneko find themselves resistance to many kinds of poisonous and toxic substances.[break]
• Feline Agility | Bakeneko are fast creatures, and as such have +3 to their Speed Aspect.[break]
• Nekomata | Nekomata are much more malevolent, but not necessarily stronger varieties of Bakeneko. Oftentimes, Nekomata have grown to exponential sizes and have the ability to enslave and blackmail the minds of weaker creatures (NPC use only. OOC permission required for use on other players.)[break]
• Kasha | Kasha are the most malevolent sort of cat yokai. Once a Nekomata has grown further and become more malevolent, they will transform into a monstrous version of themselves with a never-ending hunger for flesh. Kasha control not only ghost fire, but hell fire, as well as lightning.

Flaws[break]
• Bakeneko shapeshifting is far from perfect. They cannot hold shapes for too long and often will display their physical feline attributes if a single transformation gets exhausted.[break]
• Known to be cursed beings, Bakeneko often find themselves persecuted and killed off in many cultures for their innate malevolence. [break]
• The malevolence and size of Nekomata makes their social and academic lives difficult. If they have exhausted their shapeshifting, their large true form will not fit inside small rooms. Additionally, they hunger for humans and other creatures regularly. Kasha find shapeshifting very exhaustive and have a never-ending hunger for flesh and destruction.
