welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

For this thread considering the reclusion of the species, living locations, and their small population, Merlissa is the only one I'm aware of who should actually for sure quickly know what Jiyu is as without proper knowledge Flurry closely resemble other draconic species.
Long wings spread out through the clouds flapping softly without noise as she soared across the sky somewhere that she didn't yet know. On days like this one, when the world below was rainy drear? The clouds up here were nice and cold allowing her to travel further than most of her kind were willing to go away from the mountains before her body temperature rose to such a point she would need to turn around and fly back before she couldn't. Of course, the cold in these clouds didn't solve her problem of only being able to explore the world beneath for a limited time once she descended, but the Flurry would deal with that when the time came, for now she was content to fly through the clouds with her eyes closed. At the height her kind occupied there were not many other creatures, even of the flying variety. At a certain point? The frost that developed up here at cloud level drove off many other species of flyers due to their wings not being able to handle such conditions, but the flurry had entire bodies designed for being up here.
Hours of flight continued into the bad weather with no regard for what would happen if it suddenly broke, to the possibility of her getting stranded if she went too far out, nor how dangerous the civilizations below may be. Jiyu had never been one for considering the risk of things, it was the one thing that made her stand out from the rest of her pack and the few others nestled back on Dorahilns Spine safely. While the rest of them had hid in the peaks, the snowy white female had even been willing to make low flying sweeps over the one large settlement out towards the ocean and around the island. She didn't want to interact with them, but the female had always been one for watching in on the rest of society through the metaphorical window.
It was nearly noon on the Eldritch Academy campus in Mystopolis when the airborne female decided to dive bomb down several thousand feet before snapping her wings open again to catch the fall and observe where she had traveled to so far. Only about a thousand feet above the ground she could lightly hear the ticking of a clock as she scanned the ground with her mismatched optics. 'It appears this is Mystopolis' judging from the expansive campus beneath her, which meant she had almost flown to the other side of the country. Maybe she could make it to another country today if she kept going!
Noon struck.
Loud bells chimed out for numerous purposes around the city, her front feet shooting up to cover the ears on the side of her head the noise overtaking her ceasing the flapping on a downward stroke leaving her wings nearly clamped to her body. Anyone below could see a white streak against the grey sky speeding towards the courtyard. By the time Jiyu realized what was going on? It was too late and she did not have the time to pull up only about fifty feet from the ground unable to even brace for the impact as her slender body went crashing through the tree's making a small crater when it collided with the ground kicking up a small cloud of dirt.

Ryse Azar walked across the courtyard, textbooks in her hands. To say that this week had been interesting was an understatement. She'd met an Atronach who had an ego the size of Mystopolis, and at first she hated his guts. Then she'd met a half-Phoenix, like herself, who had accidentally wound up in her dorm room through strange circumstances. And then she met the same Atronach again just a few days ago, and surprisingly had a decent conversation with him. To have a strange creature drop out of the sky in front of her while she was on her way to class was certainly the icing on top of the cake.
As the creature impacted the ground, Ryse gave a startled yelp, dropping her books out of fright. Turning invisible, she hurriedly backed away from it, her heart pounding in her chest. She didn't know what the creature was.... it looked a bit like a dragon... but she didn't know for sure if that was what it was. There were many creatures she didn't know about. Regardless, the teenager didn't want to be its lunch if it decided that she looked like a tasty meal.
Hopefully it didn't have some sort of ability that allowed it to see invisible creatures.

Merlissa was having a rather well deserved break. Several classes in a row was not good for her energy. Sadly her friend could not join her for lunch. She overheard that an Aka blew up thanks to a prank gone wrong and basically scorched about half the training grounds and a whole class. Nothing the school can't fix and Merlissa knows her friend would be able to fix the issues presented.
So as the Yu Fu casually strolled through the courtyard with orange juice in hand, a tuna sandwich and some bacon strips for snacking, she would not expect to see her student. The teacher knows she was rather studious if the note taking was anything to go by. However it did not matter to even say hello, for she would witness something drop out of the sky and her student vanish.
Immediately the teacher went into well teacher mode. Running over, even if she was wearing a shoal of blue scales around her waist like a skirt, she quickly assessed the situation before digging into a small bag she carried. "Let's see... Hm... aha!" Merlissa pulls out a core and throws it, as multiple rock like items flow out the never ending bag. It forms into a golem, its core hidden in its body. "I need you to gently lift the dragon's head okay? How fascinating... Based of the velocity and size of this crater this dragon came from a rather high place... Most dragons don't even fly that high because their cold-blooded..." Merlissa was clearly in a sort of analysis trance, talking to herself as she checked Jiyu for injuries with the help of the golem who lifted the dragon gently.

Like everyone else in the courtyard, Theo had just finished a particularly eventful class with some acolytes, and was rather worn out. How in the world did that little girl get up into the tree, let alone use her rope to tie the best knot he'd never taught her, and manage to get herself hung by the ankle?! He thought the teenagers would be harder to keep from being too dangerous too fast, but it was the little ones who scared the life out of him. The school already watched him like a hawk due to his...unconventional teaching methods. All he needed was an angry parent killing him or worse, suing.
Before he could even get a bite of his blueberry muffin, something whizzed down and crashed into the ground. To be honest, he was both assuming and hoping it was a meteor full of some sort of shiny mineral he could snatch. That's why he was running toward the impact zone instead of away like most normal people, and not because he was a teacher doing his duties. Waving away the upheaved dust and dirt particles, he hopped down into the crater and slid to the bottom, expecting a glittering, extra valuable rock. But instead, there was another teacher he'd seen around campus and a...dragon? Was it a student? A random sick local fauna? Even though he'd been in Skiagis for a while now, he still couldn't tell when it was a sentient species and a common beast...perhaps he'd never adjust.
"Is it okay?" he asked the obvious expert here. One expert always recognizes another. It was a certain look they got when in their element, letting all their wealth of knowledge spill everywhere and the swift sure movements. He was neither a medical expert nor did he know hardly anything about species here, but he did know a lot of survival tips and first aid. Again, that wasn't needed, but he'd offer to help if it was needed.

Pain radiated across her body washing in waves from nearly everywhere because of the crash landing she had far from intended to make. Once the pain ebbed to a dull ache? The first coherent line of thinking that passed her was that she had to get far, far, far away from here! Any crash like the one her seven foot tall body had just made was bound to catch tons of attention from other species, which was the last thing she wanted to deal with even though she was more capable of it than some others of her kind. Escape was the first instinct, flight being the most primal aspect bred into Flurry as a whole.
Something touched her chin and she jolted back to her feet instantly lashing out with snapping teeth filled jaws at whatever happened to be holding her, good thing it was just a golem, not that she held on once she realized it was stone. While her body was capable? Her kind didn't work with stone so her mouth just hurt now like the rest of her, brilliant blue-green optics opening quickly to see what was going on. Confronted by two figures she sent out a echolocation beam and found there was at least a third hidden creature, they were trying to capture her!
Without waiting to evaluate them she reared back on her hind legs causing her height to jump to over ten feet, extending her massive wings up over her head and roaring at them, swiping her front limbs forward. Any none 'intelligent' being would be scared off by such a display giving her a better escape route, but since they didn't seem to run away she beat her wings down trying to take to the air getting a single flap in before pain brought her back down. This moment? Was where the true danger arose, she was now flightless convinced she was surrounded by threats. "You will not take my notes." she released the book she had been holding in one paw, the item vanishing into thin air, she was going to have to fight her way out because these individuals just wanted the same thing anyone else wanted from her kind, their knowledge. Suddenly, numerous rocks within the courtyard rose into the air alongside branches or other things knocked lose by her crash. She was so out number, and unable to take flight this was going to be a difficult fight but maybe she'd be lucky and they'd be unprepared for the sheer strength of her kinds mental powers! With that in mind, she opened her mouth in spite of her kind having no breath attacks and used her mental powers to try to project the image of her breathing fire at them to their brains. Even if her illusions only distracted them? It gave her the chance to strike at them properly, and told her if she could vanish in their vision with the same sort of trick.

To say that she had stumbled onto something strange would have been a wee bit of an understatement, but then again in a day & age of nothing but bizarre occurrences and indescribable happenings this was fairly tame by all accounts. One moment the courtyard was calm and she got to enjoy a break from all of the hectic registration nonsense she'd had to deal with all day, and the next thing she knew there was a massive dustcloud, lots of noise and several other people immediately swarming whatever the source of it all was. Alesia had to consider whether it was worth even sticking around and risking getting caught up in the fallout of whatever had just happened or if she should just turn and walk away, as would be the smart thing to do.
But of course, she didn't choose to do the smart thing. Who ever did when there was excitement of some kind to be found?
Sighing, blowing a lock of blonde hair from her eye, the girl started to make her way over to where the commotion was already starting to build. From what she could tell there were a couple of teachers present - she wasn't sure how she felt about that, or that it gave her any more confidence that this wasn't going to be some huge mess - and maybe another straggler or two. It was hard to say with all the dust. Before she'd even made it halfway, though, she saw a rather...curious sight all but launching itself out of the crater that its impact had formed, with a sudden declaration about taking some notes. If they hadn't been thinking about the notes before, they definitely had them on the mind now, at least, although she couldn't tell exactly if there had been any prior interest in them to begin with.
She supposed it didn't matter. After all, this seemed like it was escalating into a possible incident. The sudden sight of various bits of debris from the courtyard rising up into the air had her on edge at once, even thought her nitrogen armor would be able to repel it effortlessly - it was the sudden sight of fire being spewed at the front row of assembled people that certainly didn't inspire confidence that this was going to be a quick & peaceful resolution. But then, Alesia wasn't sure she would have preferred that either. "Well," She mumbled wryly to herself, halting there in her tracks so as not to approach what looked like very real fire. "this is certainly one way to be introduced to the academy." So far she was able to make an educated guess based on what she'd heard and the fact that nobody had yet been injured that whatever the creature here was, it wasn't getting hostile simply for the sake of it, which led her to believe that it - a she, judging by the voice - was instead acting defensively.
Which meant drawing her blade was not a smart idea. So she opted to do the opposite and instead observe from the distance she had currently, letting her gaze flicker from the unknown creature to the others that were more at the forefront of all of this. She was sure they'd be fine. Probably. If not she'd have an excuse to actually step in.

Kaname had walked into the courtyard to get away from her dorm for awhile. She was not making very much progress on her own personal project, which was to find new ways to contain the influence of her sword and prevent it from taking her over. She was maintaining the progress she had already made, but no new advances were being made at a time when they needed to be made. Suddenly a loud crash sounded. Was it an artillery strike?
The hybrid was determined to walk it off when she spotted an unusually large gathering of faculty. She spotted that mermaid woman and Tracksuit Guy hanging around some... dragon? What were dragons doing here? What were they doing crashing onto school property? Kaname approached the gathering with the intention of finding out.
"Hey Tracksuit Guy, what's with the dragon?" Kaname asked the only person out here she kinda-sorta knew.

Ryse warily took a step towards the creature, slowly dropping the invisibility and letting herself be seen. It seemed to be injured and frightened, judging by the sound of its voice. Or... rather her voice, she should say. The creature sounded female. The fact that the dragon couldn’t fly also gave testimony that she was hurt; she could see the pain in the creature’s eyes. Perhaps she could help Professor Merlissa heal it? She could heal others with her fire after all.... no. It was better to let the school staff handle that kind of thing.
The teenager looked around uneasily as rocks and branches hovered in the air. ”It’s... its okay. We’re not going to hurt you. Don’t move okay? You look pretty hurt.” She said nervously. She showed her hands to the dragon, palms out, making sure it could see that they were empty. There was no need to make it angrier than it already was; not if she wanted to keep from being a pancake. “You’re at Eldritch Academy. I’m a student here. My name is Ryse. What’s your name?”. Maybe talking to it would calm it down. Hopefully.

Most people would be panicking, many would have probably something in defense. The golem took the bite like it was nothing, but it was enough data to tell her how to treat the poor dragon in distress. But not without some teacher insight coming in first.
Most dragons barely possess any form of telekinetic prowess. After all there was not much of a need for them to lift rocks with their mind or do something with their head when breath, a unique attack to dragonics, was a powerful tool that could shatter mountains and boil the sea. However most dragon races are reclusive and barely attack. Merlisa was beaming, probably to the surprise of other onlookers.
Merlissa instead of telling Jiyu to calm down, she grabbed her beautiful blue locks. She knew the fire was not real, her golem did not protect her. After all these stone giants operate on simple commands with default settings. This just pulled her belief closer and closer to the most insane discovery yet.
"By the great Pearl! I-I thought you were an Atlanticus. You didn't possess breath organs from my analysis, based of mathematical calculations you flew at heights too high and went faster than most dragons. The only ones who can are two species! Atlanticus and the Flurry!" Merlissa was fangirling at this point. It was not every day you meet a knowledge keeper from the skies above."B-but Atlanticus don't possess psychic prowess... A Flurry right before my eyes!" The Yu Fu bounced in excitement.

At first Theo was getting some pretty heavy flashbacks of a black dragon he met quite a while back now, except that one hadn't reared up and attacked them! He might be nearly fearless while exploring and sniffing out artifacts, but the man had quite an acute fear of pain and death, which seemed about to happen to him in spades. "AAAAIIEEEE!!" he cried, trying to run back up out of the crater, but being too clumsy to do so under pressure. He ended up rolling back down into the perceived flames, curling into a ball on the a sloping side of the impact zone.
But! No pain came. He wasn't being incinerated. No attack touched his defensive runes he'd summoned at some point in hopes of remaining alive and un-charred. Well. This was less than stellar for his adult persona...Slowly rising, he heard the voices of two of his student, one of which seemed to have forgotten his name and the other going a good job trying to calm a scared creature. However, she should really run to safety and let the adults handle this. Student deaths by random draconic projectile were probably frowned upon. "Well, Kaname, she just crashed and thinks we're gonna steal her notes...hm," he ended, turning himself like Ryse to face the winged lizard with palms harmlessly raised. "We don't want your notes! If a bully is trying to take your notes, just report it to us and we'll take care of it. I know test pressure can really make students cranky...but no need to thrash anyone, okay?" Theo called with a nervous smile, operating under the misunderstanding that she was a student having a bad day.
After digesting the what the other adult present had to say, he glanced at the woman and raised a brow. "Did you say she's a furry?" No, that certainly couldn't be right.

While all of this was ongoing, another student was watching the goings-ons with a keen and curious eye, resting under the shade of a nearby tree in the courtyard just within distance to keep track of what was being said. The whole situation had become rather curious; she had initially been prepared to write it off and continue on with her business, but what had transpired after the creature woke had kept her from just leaving. After all, the creature had been declared to be a dragon - and while she didn't know what a "Flurry" was exactly she was willing to bet based on that teacher's reaction that they were fairly rare, or at least intensely unusual sights, even among what was already a fairly uncommon species. That in and of itself didn't interest her so much as what the creature had said and what she was seeing right now.
Those flames? Merely an afterimage in her eyes, a flicker not too unlike a ghost of something in her vision. Nothing close to enough to fool her thanks to her Wave Conductor's innate defense, but something she could quite clearly see - and that everyone else seemed just as capable of witnessing. That was what had her interest, mostly. That and the mention of notes. Apparently the creature had knowledge of some sort that was worth protecting - enough that she'd start getting all defensive when she was quite clearly outnumbered and in the middle of unfamiliar territory. That was a detail definitely worthy of attention, and it was that which finally coaxed her into taking some sort of action, pushing herself off the tree and striding over to the group with a bit of a sneer on her face at the sight of Theo stumbling over himself and squealing like a little girl in terror. "What, you're seriously curling up like a scared child over that little mind-trick? You're a teacher, aren't you? Isn't your job as staff to protect the students or something? C'mon, guy." The girl snorted, cocking her hip and resting a hand on it, gaze affixing itself on the object of everyone's attentions. Of course it really wasn't his fault, and she knew it - not everyone had the advantage against mental manipulation like her.
Did she care though? Fuuuuck no. She couldn't miss an opportunity to snark at a teacher when it presented itself.
"For as much of a dork as he may be, he's not wrong. There's not really any point in getting all defensive, and you don't seem to be in any state to do a lot of flying around right now or my guess is you'd already be gone." Paris commented, narrowing her eyes ever so slightly. "I'm calling your bluff on the mind games right here - jigg's up. And as you can see none of us have made any move to try and harm you. I'd suggest relaxing a moment and catching your breath. Those notes of yours are gone now, so if that's what you were worried about that worry shouldn't be there anymore, should it? And after all, I doubt that you'd be in any position to actually fight all of us simultaneously even if that's what everyone here wanted to do."

Every twitch and breath she made brought her closer to having to fully and honestly battle with them to preserve her life, regardless of which ability she displayed the reactions were not as she wished, no clear path of escape viable. While Jiyu was much more experienced in psychical battle than most of her kind? Actual claw to claw sort combat was still just beyond her last resort, she was better when she could use her mental abilities or talent, but since her 'bluffs' as one girl had called them did nothing it was not likely her talent would have much effect at the level she was capable of using at the moment. At the current time her only saving grace was that her opponents had not moved much violently yet which meant she would still get first strike, and if she got lucky that would mean she could take it from 6 vrs 1 to 5 vrs 1.
For a brief moment everything she was levitating lowered enough to suggest maybe she had shorted for a second.
As images flashed atop the current events, the Flurry was suddenly much more comfortable evaluating those images that would disorientate someone not used to seeing the future quickly and easily. Suddenly she knew for sure five of the six were entirely harmless to her, expect for one maybe being way too interested in her. "She said F-l-u-r-r-y, like a snowflake flurry." she had time to respond, iron things out now that she knew those five would not make a harmful move towards her in the near future. "I have to say I'm pleasantly shocked though, you're the first creature of another species who has known what I am so quickly and been absolutely certain of it." she tucked one of her wings back against her side, the other kinda laying there awkwardly due to the fact it was broken in at least two places. Apparently, it was likely the blue skirted female was a collector of knowledge somewhat similar to her kind only it seemed more personal than some species lifeblood deal. "Typically the reaction of anyone who realizes before I erase their memory is much more as if I was some mythical creature." and she had plenty of interactions with other species considering her fathers hatred for them and her own later numerous cases of infatuation and flings. "Don't worry, since I'm grounded erasing your memories would be rather pointless." that wasn't even future vision, whenever she mentioned the ability to any of her past girlfriends and boyfriends they flipped out thinking she may use it on them right than, of course they were always wrong until she broke up with them and needed to protect the pack.
"For reference mental powers strong enough to erase all of someone's memories is no little mind trick, still a mind trick but it's nowhere near small." in fact short of knowing everything her kind may be high as someone could get in mental powers, it wouldn't shock her since their very lives depended on it. "And I was only bluffing in the sense of trying to scare everyone off so I wouldn't have to fight, until my future vision kicked in I was ready to take at least half of you down with me to keep you away from my pack, you can ask the blue one why I'm so defensive." she mentioned her future vision as the mass she was levitating flew in front of her to form a shield from a beam of red light which seemed to come out of no where.
Keeping the attacker in her sights, the Flurry went right on with the interactions. "I'm Jiyu Kusari, and it does seem my wing is probably broken." and with a broken wing she was probably dead.

She had to think to herself: this was almost too easy.
The source of the laser fire wasn't hard to identify once one had realized exactly what happened. Standing there with the air around her reeking slightly of ozone, a bog-standard laser pointer directed at the Flurry and a look somewhere between smug satisfaction and sneering frustration was, of course, Paris. Who else besides the smug little wannabe Frenchgirl? Even now having her attack cucked so effortlessly she had this shit-eating little grin on her face, something utterly devious in nature. It was the look of someone who had taken a gamble expecting it to go bad, only to have it instead turn out completely in their favor. The real question was why she seemed to think that action of hers had been such a success. "Well, gee. I guess you got me there, that's a little embarrassing." She sighed, looking somewhat sheepish for just a moment, resting her hand on her hips and humming to herself.
"I guess that's fine, though. You're either fatalistic or uncannily courteous, explaining the nature of your abilities like that. Maybe don't give away your species inborn traits to a bunch of people at a school, though. What does that bring your total ability count up to, now? Four, if we divide your mental powers into illusory and memory-based, right? Who'd have guessed that you could see into the future, too?" The girl snorted, twirling her laser pointed in her fingers before slipping it into a small, hardly noticeable sheath sewn into her skirt. "Talk about useful. Well, I suppose I should thank you for indulging my curiosity at least, even if it was a stupid decision. You know I might have wondered how you anticipated that attack before you outright told us." It was a wonder whether or not Paris would ever really shut the fuck up.
All in all this had actually been an incredibly fortuitous encounter; it was almost like a gift from on-high, actually. Quite literally considering...well. Not only had she found another collector of knowledge, but one that already had an incredibly useful set of skills. Illusions may not mean much to her, but to the average mind...and combined with the capacity to wipe someone's memories and see into the future? If Paris hadn't been interested before - and she had been - she definitely was now, and immediately made a mental note to seek this one out at a later date. Even if their goals didn't quite align, perhaps a mutually beneficial arrangement could be made, and now she had the flurry's name. That'd make it a bit easier to kickstart a conversation on a slightly more familiar note. Yes, hi Jiyu, it's me again, the one person who actually did try and attack you.
Well, to be fair she hadn't actually intended to cause any serious harm. That was her excuse, anyway.

Theo was actually very used to being sassed and made fun of by others. Not quite common in this world and now a teacher, but the fact still remained. He turned his head to look at the blonde girl snarking him, thought he held no malice in his face. He grinned sheepishly, scratching the back of his head in embarrassment. She was right. He had screamed like a girl and freaked out, "Haha, I didn't want to die a third time," he laughed, though the fear had been very very real. Theo was just like everyone else. Irrational fears were not ones to be controlled, even in the face of embarrassment. But now that it was over, he felt quite silly indeed. Everyone saw him spaz, and he'd misheard Flurry as Furry and earned himself a correction from the tiny snark master and the flurry herself. Whoops.
The man listened with intensely interested arctic hues, mind reeling of where she might be from. Curiosity was a big drive for him, as was finding new areas for exploration. Shinies and valuables. His mind was already reeling when the dragon said something that managed to derail his shiny brain. She could erase memories? While that might be met with fear by most, he seemed quite the opposite, as if the thought brought some sort of hesitant relief. "You can really erase all of someone's memories, Jiyu?" he asked, luminous eyes verging on hopeful. While he was a quirky young man who was always smiling and laughing on the outside, inside was a world of unending and raw pain. Perhaps there had been a time where he wouldn't have considered disrespecting his dead loved ones by forgetting them, but Theo was tired. He had lost everything twice now. The aspect of leaving it all behind was incredibly attractive. Maybe she could take everything before he came here away. The adventurer stored this possibility in the back of his mind, hoping to think it over more and maybe even seek her out later about it.

Merlissa wanted to chide the student, and her colleague, for their lack of understanding. Then again considering how rare seeing a Flurry is, even meeting one in person would prove incredibly valuable research. But first the Cobalt student Paris.
"Well miss if you speak so highly of yourself perhaps you should join my classes on Species Studies," Merlissa smiled, however the golem standing over her casting a shadow on the lithe figure made it seem like she truly meant business. Merlissa than returns to the Flurry.
"The last time anyone has seen a Flurry is... In 100 years! And that was my tutor! He would flip his seat and research papers to see one again! It clearly was not you though... You don't have the scales to prove your age... Maybe aging for Flurry is different... We don't have enough proof your kind even exists! This is amazing!" Merlissa hopped onto the golem like it was a platform on a stage, elegant and refined. "Perhaps you would like to get that injury treated... Though seeing as to how your biology is not entirely known to us getting everything right maybe an issue... I'm sure my friend Beatrice will patch you up nicely!" Merlissa claps her hands, grinning as she thought to herself a bombardment of questions to ask the Flurry. It might be tough to break though, seeing as the Flurry has remained exclusively hidden for several years."
