welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

If he had the energy Dalliance would have felt sorry for the security guard outside, who had the pitiful job of checking the age of everyone entering, although with all the new species the past couple of hundred years he had no doubts that a child could say that they were some angelic were-vampire over a thousand years old and get into the place. From what he could tell by a few of the light bulbs flickering and a scarred wooden bar this place certainly needed the patronage. Just off the main street it was one of those pubs, a few curtain clad windows and an unobnoxious sign was all hat detonated the alcohol infused nest. A perfect place for vagrants like him, and those seeking something to take the edge of a depressive world without their habits being known to the masses. [break][break] A headache started to form, was it from the drink or his petty use of talent to keep it at the right temperature. Either way the lights were too bright and every shadow moved too fast, the very sounds of the living creatures drawing breath caused despair to settle in his heart. He was too bored for anger, call it lethargy or laziness. With his tab growing ever longer and not even their strongest bottle of swill taking the edge off what plagued his mind the undead spun around to face the rest of the room, drugs wouldn't last long enough, no he needed actual entertainment. If there truely was a god in the realms then they were surely looking down on his faded soul. For as his mind wished for something to spark life into the world a rather muscular unruly male approached another at the bar, a scar parting one eyebrow really it was just so cliché. Honestly, he had been having such a calm night enjoying a chilled glass of cheap old crow. [break][break] The sort of thing happened most nights- and he knew that from being here most nights. Arguments normally got solved after a few punches, security would haul em out just like clockwork. The other drinks in this place were all lukewarm, something he was reminded of when the brawling fools saw fit to smash a bottle onto the war- probably with the intentions of using it as a weapon. The contents splashing over Dalliance and a half dozen other patrons. [break][break] Anger flared, hair swirling up into a tornado as gravity slammed down into the arrogant bastards who were interrupting the night. Blood heavier than water was it? Well now their blood was heavier than most things and flooding all the way down to their toes. Hand curling around the neck of the first fighter Dalliances sullen expression curled into one of excited anger, "You feeling faint angry man? That'll be because your blood is currently too heavy and is being dragged down to the depths of hell where you belong for wasting a good bottle gin and covering me in it" A couple of others around the room rose from their seats, with intentions of stopping or joining it made no difference as the Church grim released hold of his talent. Briefly using it in his aid the tattooed traveler slammed the strangers face through the floor, wooden planks caving as the dazed bar fight starter got a face full of concrete dust. He would have been about what, a little over a hundred and fifty tonnes as he slammed into the concrete, that wouldn't kill the guy right, it would be such a pain to go to prison. But at least then he wouldn't have to get his own food.

The chill embodying this time of year on the ground was delightful for her, while the other species she saw were mostly bundled up the short female was clothed in a simple black dress that tied secure around her neck, left her back open and didn't even go beneath her knees. Jiyu was perfectly comfortable, but she did grow up in sub zero temperatures this was a good 'summer' day for her. Adventuring on the ground had something to be said about it, so much more in depth than sketching what she saw from thousands of feet above the ground out of sight of others. Beside the girl a notebook and pencil hovered, the telekinetically controlled devices drawing down what she was seeing around her as she looked wildly around at the new playground of knowledge around her. Even if she had been raised in a pack twisted beyond the recognition of others? Nothing could take away the love her entire bred held for developing their intelligence of the world further.
In her exploration the short flurry was suddenly stopped by a big burly man in a uniform as she tried to wander into a building that seemed to be some sort of bar, something she'd only got to see from a distance for the longest time. "Show me your ID, there's no way your old enough to drink." Jiyu looked at him with her blank face, internally slightly confused as she was very mature for her species, one of the oldest in her pack as hatchlings matured to 'grown' within the first two years after their birth. Of course, quickly she remembered that civilization had different rules from the wild way she lived, so she observed the area around her, looking at what she guessed were the ID's of people who had just gotten in. From her quick information collection? Jiyu deemed that an ID was something one removed from a hidden location on their person to prove they were old enough to enter somewhere, clearly being a wild flurry she lacked it but what did she need a solid item for when she had her mental powers. "Here's my ID, I think you'll find your mistaken sir." she reached her hand down her dress using her mental illusions to make him think she had actually pulled something out, showing it to him nudging his brain to help her construct the proper illusion to gain entrance. "Sorry Ma'm, my mistake." stoic expression she was glad it had worked, walking past him with her book following after her.
Now that she had gained entry, the girl spent the next few minutes just wandering around inside the cramped building. When compared to the open freedom of the skies she flew? This place was miserable, but when considered as an experience that one could not find in her world, it was perfect. The only hitch was her years of seclusion among her own kind prevent her from realizing how much she stood out in this dreary location considering her dress was the only darkness on her, the rest of her white as snow nearly enough to glow. Empty blue-green eyes occasionally met the gaze of those who stared at her, detecting faint mumbles through her ear plugs and smelling their desperation faintly through her nose plugs. The sound of shattering glass was enough to make her flinch slightly even through her dampening objects, causing her to quickly turn towards it. Seeing that a fight was about to break out, Jiyu used her conjuration in reverse to send the notes she had taken home so that no one would steal them. While the daily misery of people was not valued by many? The information she had collected was priceless to species like hers that still lived in seclusion.
"Impressive." she ignored the man slammed into the ground in favor of taking the seat next to the man who had clearly done the slamming, sensing now that this was a disagreement instead of a real fight she summoned her book back into her lap, pencil in hand. "You should go home while you can, disturbing someone's night is never a good idea. Less so when a someone who doesn't know if murder is legal or not is in the crowd." as she spoke the girl started sketching Dalliance not that she knew his name, yet, but he was interesting to her for the moment. "On the other hand, you're interesting. I'm Jiyu Kusari and I'd like to know whatever you can tell me about yourself or your species." she could find someone else for customs and laws, he just seemed interesting on a simple level. "And I wasn't insulting you or suggesting you don't know laws, I'm the one who doesn't know." didn't need her newest interest to think she was trying to mock him, when she just wanted whatever knowledge she could get from him.

A slight grunt escaped him as he lifted his eyes, there was the man on the ground who had started the fight, and the man who he had started the fight with. There, eyes a full moon with a mouth hanging open, with a raise of the eyebrows and jerk of the head the scum was sent scuttling away. Ya know sometimes he wished that this wasn't his form, it made sense, this was around the age he had been sacrificed and yada yada but why was his human appearance stuck as some thin limbed boy who had hardly started puberty. He felt old inside, like there should be a short beard and thick eyebrows, a wild bushy mane and wrinkles scattered across his face so he could properly grunt, groan and mumble at people. Bah there was no way to change it. [break][break] The option for himself to go home was also there, despite the suggestion not being aimed at him Dalliance still found himself slightly considering it. Slink back, pass through a few walls, curl up in one of the cellars and maybe scare a few whelps shitless. No not yet, after all this weird freak had just sat down like he was playing a card game, she was pale, noticeably so that the rest of the room seemed dirty in comparison. It would be so much better if he could just release this dreaded appearance, yet there was no way to get a half decent drink when you were a semi transparent almost demonic oversized scottish terrier, speaking of oversized she was about a foot shorter than him. Oh right there was a compliment, impressive or something "Thanks" wasn't that great really, just messing with a few molecules here and the density of something there, it made the world rather dull at times when you looked at the basics of it all. [break][break] He was interesting, odd thing to say. She gave away her opinions so casually, surely they weren't true so there was likely something she wanted. Either way it was a moment of less bleak in the world, not amusement just yet. "Jiyu Kursari, 'am Dalliance Chesapeake. I'd be h'appy to if you'd share your own in return." He waited not for an answer really he wasn't that protective over his species it was rather bland really. Settling back into his seat with one hand idly braiding his fringe the dark male caught the eyes of the bartender, summoning another glass of whisky. The first's ice has melted sadly, diluting the taste. So she didn't know laws, that was something. "Currently I'm a church grim. We're spirits, I've not been alive for, hundreds maybe. Church grim are sacrifices, animals we were buried -alive." recounting your death was so fun. It wasn't emotion which caused him to stumble over the word but the fact that he hadn't thought about the past recently, it really had been a long time hadn't it. "Animals buried alive in newly created cemeteries, our spirits would then be tied to the land and the bodies which are buried there. Don't know what fucker thought it up but we get no choice. Becoming a spirit gave me more of a consciousness. Over time, well stuff happened and now Im wandering this shithole of a capital city this has grown into." Grimly his face grew into a scowl before the slight singing of alcohol brought it back to his casual downcast expression. What more did this kid want to know, what was the first icecream shop to open in the city, yea he knew that, he knew just about everything about the land before it became the official capital, back when it was just a town. Horrible place, capturing animals to shove in small boxes, burying them for their sickening hopes, forcing him and his kin to protect their descendants for the sole reason that 'oh they gave us intelligence' dang it gods he wished he could go back to being a stupid mutt who's most exciting pat of the day was pissing in winter and watching it steam.

Considering she knew nothing about cities this huge and very little about anything else about the civilizations of other species? Almost anything she did here was going to seem odd to the creatures already living here who knew what they were doing. Even her stoic expression couldn't hide the fact she was entirely foreign. Luckily considering who she had chosen to seat herself next to, most of the staring at her remarkably pure form in the dirty bar, ceased, no one really wanted to get mistaken for staring at Dalliance likely. It would be a nice bonus if she had realized the staring in the first place, but she hadn't there had been no reason for her to deem it important as nothing had smelled hostile expect for the fight he had ended.
Listening to him give thanks, she couldn't tell anything about what he was thinking due to the sheer level of 'lazy' in his body and voice, which was not unusual for her but it was annoying. Sure, she could read his mind if she really needed to but that was no fun it was far better to obtain the knowledge from his mouth, there was something to be found in how someone verbally presented what they chose to reveal. Share the same information she had asked for with him? Jiyu placed her chin on one slender hand, thinking briefly, her hand fiddling with her pen and writing without her even having to think about it. Could she actually go that far, it was one thing to share select information about herself, but about her whole species which had a cowardly population and reasons to be hunted, it didn't exactly seem right. Oh well, she was more hardened than others of her kind so she was going to do it to obtain the knowledge she wanted, just to be careful how she worded things. His recounting was excellent, easy enough to follow her notes as well, a few sketches of animals and cemetery stones filling the bottom of the page aided by a second pencil she summoned and controlled with her telekinesis. Near the end of his recounting, the girl decided to switch entirely to her telekinetic abilities for note taking, releasing the pencil from her hand, masterfully controlling two pencils to do two different things without even seeming to look at them.
He was done and it was her turn, if she wanted to get anything else out of him she'd need to do this. "I'll try to explain best I can but from what I gathered when I arrived my kind have faded to the realm of not being confirmed to exist anymore, or myth for most other species if they know about us at all and everyone of my kind expect me would prefer to stay there as we're extremely reclusive." the reaction of a teacher from the school let her know the significance to a scholar of her being around and quickly poking around let her find most species index books didn't have her kind or had very small questioning pages due to the sheer amount of time they'd spent in hiding. "We're called Flurry a species originated from before the ancient war, at the time we lived somewhat close to other species and regularly interacted to learn about them or help guide them through difficult terrain few knew how to cross besides we who had studied it for nothing more than gaining the knowledge." it must have been nice to live back than, but she didn't even think any of those Flurry were still alive and from the sketches she had seen in a history tome they had changed over the years to a somewhat noticeable degree to adapt to going into hiding. "Flurry hoard knowledge collectively what a single member collects is stored in a library common to its pack and packs often share. We used to share with other species but when the ancient wars started my kind disliked the idea of the knowledge we collected peacefully being used for violence so we started refusing to share, it wasn't long after that other species started hunting and killing us rapidly to steal what we collected, eliminating whole packs at a time as there was no other way to get us to give it up." the effect left on her kind by the actions taken during those first wars? Could still be seen clearly to this day, so many times having seen that her kind saw other species as nothing more than monsters under the bed at best if not the devil itself. "For centuries we've lived in locations considered by other species to be uninhabitable, next to impossible to traverse, or as far away as we could get, in order to avoid other species, erasing their memories when they did find us. We also don't resemble humans normally, though clearly we can transform, normally our bodies are draconic in appearance and most of us only ever fly in or above the clouds." Jiyu was actually fairly sure if the others back on dorahiln's spine could see her they would flinch at the body she had chosen to take on while she was down here waiting for her wing to recover and trying to outrun death. "I was flying to make another map, soaring too low, when the stupid bells of this city rang disorienting me enough to cause a crash which broke one of my wings, leaving me trapped until it heals. Of course, I'll likely never leave this place, the oxygen level will likely claim my life before my wing recovers so I'm getting the most I can out of this place." he was undead and she was dying it was actually kinda ironic this was the first person she found truly interesting.
Glancing in front of her at the wall, she conjured a bottle of wine she knew the location of and popped the top off it taking a small sip from the bottle. "After living so high for so long, were there isn't enough oxygen to really support any species besides mine, being down here feels smothering." hopefully she could find some way to cheat the oxygen requirement but until than, they were the duo of undead and slowly suffocating on oxygen.

Today Capone was a pale skinned, slender woman with a tight dress that left little to the imagination. There was a slit down the side of her that allowed for some measure of maneuverability and showed off just a bit more skin. Currently Capone was sprawled out on a man’s lap, drinking from the free vodka soda he had gotten her. Sitting on his lap was a scant price for a free drink. She’d spent most of the money she’d managed to pickpocket on the dress, so this was the only way she was going to get drinks here.
Undoubtedly he was expecting more considering how much money he’d put into liquoring her up. Maybe he’d get it, maybe he wouldn’t.
“Ezcuse me.” She slurred as she tried to get herself off his lap. His hands were firm in not letting her go. Capone sighed, rolling her eyes dramatically, before reaching up and stabbing at a pressure point that forced him to let her go and topple over on his chair.
She got up in one smooth motion as he fell, then stumbling suddenly. Normally she wasn’t one to get herself into such a drunken mess like this. Normally she tried to keep her more depressive side under wraps. But far from her home dimension, from all her plans and wishes, and stuffed inside a body for which she could not inhabit fully without amassing destructive paradox energy for which she had no proper target for… She had had plans before this damn it. And being shoved into a future conquest’s body before it had merged with her went against all of them.
She’d wanted to do something different, but in this state it was hard to know what to do at all. So for tonight she was going to do whatever she goddamn well liked. And deal with the consequences later. The paradox energy was already buzzing at her fingers. Or was that the alcohol? Hard to tell…
Capone finally managed to make it to the bar, holding onto it for dear life lest she fall down. She had only heard the tail end of the conversation. But goddamn was she going to get into it if it killed this vessel. “Hey… Hey hey. Have you tried not breathing? I mean breathing as much. Jus… Stop.”

The brown-haired bakedanuki with glasses sat in a corner and listened to slow lounge music play over the sound system. Wearing a green t-shirt and brown dress, she had used illusion magic to hide her tail, ears, and other distinctive features from view to look like a mousy human librarian. She did not want to freak out the normal patrons by appearing with her normal features, so she opted to pass as a human, which was easy for the bakedanuki.
Makoto was in the bar listening for the latest hot story that she could discuss on Tanuki Talk. She was also there to drink a glass or two, maybe three of Imperator tequila. Tequila had less of an effect on her than sake did, but she still had to be careful because tequila was deceptively strong. Makoto sat in her corner perch watching and waiting for the right right story to reach her ears. With more people filling the bar by the moment, the wait might be shorter than she thought it would be.
Patience was a virtue.
