welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Just because he didn't have anyone to spar with, didn't mean he was going to stop his training. As the sun was beginning to set, signifying the end of the day. Sounds could be heard as one approached the training grounds. Oras thrust his sword into the open air twice before flipping it to a reverse angle for a quick parry which would send the blade over his head. He rushed to the right of his imaginary foe, the blade he used to parry slashing downward where their body would be. He imagined them dodging the counter attack, striking from above this time. He split his body in half, letting the non literal attack pass through before his two halves fused back together. He backflipped, striking the non existent being with his foot from above, turned around, and stabbed it. He imagined the figure regaining it's senses and parrying his blade, moving it as if he had been parried. The figure launched another attack and Oras spun his sword in two circles to deflect the strikes.
He slashed at it from below, even, and higher stances, having won the fight. He took a deep breath and let it out as he sheathed his blade. He walked over to one of the seats in the area where his powder blue scarf. The one his summoner provided him with. Was resting. He wrapped it around and sat as the cloth cooled him down almost instantly. He closed his eyes as he took his break.

Anarra made her way to the training grounds, curious about what else there was to the academy other than the courtyard, dormitories, and classrooms. Due to the cold weather, she was moving slower than usual. She would be glad when the weather warmed back up again. Currently she was in her natural form, as she felt the most comfortable then, but she was only 4 feet tall instead of the normal 20 feet. Though the human holiday of Christmas had come and gone, and the decoration which had covered the academy had been taken down some weeks ago, it was still nice to slow down and see the sights of the snow covered school.
Frost puffed from her nostrils as she breathed, and she could hear the clip clop of her hooves on the stone ground as she walked. Her mind wasn't on anything particular, just on the sight around her. Upon spotting Oras sitting there on one of the seats, eyes closed. Her mind shifted to him as she neared him. "I admit I did not expect to see you again so soon, Oras Auro." She remarked as she stopped beside the seat. "Are you here to keep your skills sharp?" Training was what her mind had come up with while she was speaking to him. That was one of the most likely reasons the Atronach was here.

As he rested he heard the clopping of hooves. Well that could be several people. It was only when he heard the voice when he smiled, knowing who it was. He opened his eyes and turned to look at the deer shaped woman as she commented on how she hadn't expected to see him so soon again. "Seriously? I stand out from the crowd wherever I go, how could you not expect to see me soon? Bit of faulty assumption on your part don't you think?" he said with a chuckle. When she asked him if he was here to keep his skills sharp he sighed, frustration showing through his voice and nodded. "Yep. Cause everyone apparently thinks combat is something bad that shouldn't happen. Bunch of idiots. If they can't fight they can't defend themselves. I didn't hurt anyone, property is easily repairable. I can't believe this century came up with the stupidest of rules. At any rate, no one wants to spar and so I come here. Practice alone, to make sure my skills don't die out." He looked her in the eyes with a grin, pushing the sword two centimeters out of his sheath with his thumb as he grinned. "I could always use a sparring partner if you're interested~"

"Perhaps another time." Anarra replied politely, shaking her head. While the thrill of battle did make her happy, this wasn't why she was here. "Though I did not expect to meet you here, I have been meaning to speak with you. There is something I wish to ask of you."
She wasn't sure how Oras would react to this question. It wasn't something she would ask a complete stranger. While she didn't know Felix all that well, he was one of the people she trusted. At least... she trusted him more than she did others. So she thought he would at least consider what she was going to ask him.

Oras nodded with a grin and chuckle. "Well, suit yourself. Offer is always open to you my dear~ You seem to understand the joy and excitement that comes with a good duel. Not as much as I do I think, but at least you enjoy it." He drew his blade and spun it around a few times before throwing it into the air and creating a small pillar of ice which the sword landed in. Piercing through so as to rest in it like a stand or pedestal rather than landing on the ground. She continued to speak, stating how even though she didn't expect to find him here, there was in fact something she wanted to ask him. Oras cocked an eyebrow. "Oh? Is it about how strong I aim for not letting those idiot's insults, punishments and threats get to me? Or how about wanting to know how I change ice on a whim? Oh do tell~"

"While I am interested in how you create your ice forms, I have a different question in mind at the moment." Anarra stated. "I was wondering if you could.... teach me how to read and write."
The hybrid grew up in the forest, where human interaction was minimal apart from the grave robbers or the occasional traveler passing through. She knew how to read somewhat. She knew the meaning of certain words from her sparse travels to the nearby villages located beside her forest; looking at the word and studying how humans reacted to it gave her an indication of what they meant. But reading entire sentences - and something called paragraphs - was something she was unable to do. Writing was another thing she was unfamiliar with. She hadn't had the need for such a talent, not when she was a deer and living in the deepest parts of the forest that she called her home. Not having hands was also another reason.
Now that she was at the Academy, these things were something she needed to learn if she was to succeed in her studies. She couldn't very well do the assignments assigned if she didn't know how to complete them in the first place.

Oras nearly tripped and fell down when he heard her request. When he caught himself and straightened he held his closed fist to his mouth and cleared his throat. "I'm sorry, I don't think I heard that right: What were you asking me?" When she repeated her question he blinked a few times before pressing his hand against his forehead. "You got to be kidding me," he muttered. He shook his head and pulled his hand away. "Why not ask the teachers themselves? They're literally paid to teach things like that. And they have experience in teaching. I don't... Teach. I show how it's done, how much people have to train to be better. I encourage others, I don't train. Why on earth would you ask me to teach you how to read and write?"

"I am asking you because the faculty themselves have responsibilities such as teaching their students and taking care of the school grounds. You, however, do not have those responsibilities." The plant deer pointed out.
"I am aware that you must attend classes with your summoner, but as you have yourself stated, you do not actually need to learn the information the teachers give you. So you have the time available." She walked forward until she was standing right in front of him, looking at him with those empty eye sockets. "I am also aware that you enjoy a challenge. As I doubt you have taught anyone before, which your previous statement suggests, I would think that teaching me would give you an adequate challenge. Experience and knowledge comes from all different places, Oras Auro. And I believe you, having walked among humans and the like for far longer than I have, will be able to teach me what I need to know."

He listened to her as she told him how she didn't ask the faculty because they were already busy teaching in the classes, as well as caring for the school grounds. He raised an eyebrow. "You've got to be kidding me. That's your argument? You do realize that they have more free time than they let on right? You tell them you need help with reading and writing and they could teach you every day without losing much of their free time. If your only argument is: 'they have free time and you don't', then you weren't really taught how time works either."
She began to continue and he listened. So her argument was that he had the time, and he liked challenges? Come on she had to do better than that. "Awww, using my own words against me. Learning from the master I see~" However... The way she ended. Was that, her being honest or was she just flattering him to get him to help? He really couldn't tell with that woman. He gestured to the horns. "You should do that thing you do. Changing the color of your flames depending on your emotions, people would really like it." He wasn't sure if she was just buttering him up or not yet, so he'd go ahead and see if she had some way to strengthen her argument. "Except there isn't much to reading and writing. I could probably find you several people in this school who could help you learn while keeping their free time safe."

"Oh? There is not much to reading and writing, you say?" Anarra tilted her head, confused. "I was under the impression that it was the opposite... no matter. In that case, then it should not be too difficult for you to teach me. Unless.... if you believe you cannot do it."
A hint of teasing broke into her voice. If she could smile, she would. "Here I come to you with a challenge. Will you not even attempt to teach me? Would it truly be too difficult for you? After all, you said it would not be." Obliging to Oras' comment, her flames turned green, the color of amusement. Perhaps changing her flame colors would help in communicating herself to others. She couldn't show expressions on her face, after all.

Shaking his head he spoke. "Let me clarify: It's not difficult in the sense that regardless of what experience one has over the years, and from different lands and cultures, it doesn't affect language much. Not unless you intend to blend it with other languages. So as long as there's someone who knows the language, and has a textbook and dictionary on it, they could teach you just as easily as I can. Capiche?" Then she went on to try and goad him into doing it. Sending insults and teasing. Oras just smirked. "Oh come now. Cut the bait and hook tactic. I know I can do it, but I also know that it's going to be very annoyingly tedious and frustrating. You'll most likely take a while to master it which will be very frustrating most of the time. Sorry Anarra, but you can't trick me into helping by baiting me like that. It's an overused and frankly desperate tactic. Come on, do you not have any other valid reason for me to teach you? And answer me this: Excluding the free time like other students and teachers have: Why me?"

The green in her flames flickered and died, returning to their usual ghostly light blue color. "I apologize. I was merely trying my hoof... well, I suppose the correct word would be 'hand'... at teasing. Perhaps I gave off the wrong impression." It was easy for her to do so, and she assumed that was what had happened.
"Truthfully, the reason I am asking you is because I consider you as an ally. I believe the term humans use would be 'friend'. I can depend on you in a fight, and that makes you trustworthy." If she was willing to learn something such as reading and writing, then she would learn it from someone who she trusted. And at the moment, she trusted Oras more than anyone else.

On hearing her apology, and her words following it, he shook his head with a smile. "Don't be. Teasing only works on people who let it. I don't let anything get to me. You weren't half bad, it just doesn't work on a master. Though if you want to learn how to be better at it, just hang out with me a bit~" he said with a chuckle. She then continued to speak and what she said next surprised him. He half expected something similar to what she said, like 'you're the only one I really trust at all', but she was calling him an ally. A friend. That she could depend on him in a fight. Of all the people he had seen and spoken to during his time here, even his own summoner, was happy with his combat skills, and mentioned him fighting by their side.
The shock would show on his face for a second before he forced a change to a smirk, cocked an eyebrow and chuckled. "Oh? So you see me as an ally and friend? And only after such very little time. Well if that's the case, I wouldn't want to lose a friend of mine. Though I would like to ask you something first:" He turned to look at the Academy. "Everyone I've spoken to keeps telling me that we're in a time of peace. Where violence and fighting is bad and we shouldn't do so. Especially publicly like I did. I want to know your thoughts on that."

Anarra was silent for a few moments as she thought. "I believe that peace is temporary. Just as the Ancient War did not last for hundreds of years, this peace we have will not last. From what I have heard from travelers, the three countries are at a tense peace with one another. Some time or another, this peace will break."
She gave a slight nod to the Atronach. "Fighting is not all bad. Duels to test one's strength can improve aspects in that area. However, things are different now than they were many years ago. Customs change. Perhaps having a sudden duel is no longer considered acceptable behavior. At least... not within the grounds of the school courtyard. Perhaps there are other places you can host your duels without fear of being punished."

Oras nodded to her in complete agreement. "They don't want to believe that fighting is important. They believe that since they're in peace time they don't need to fight. Well. They can call me an inconsiderate jerkwad if they want, that's fine by me." He chuckled as the ice shattered and flung his sword to him, which he caught and spun around twice. "I am kind of an asshole at times~ But nothing they do will stop me from training, and finding any good fighters. Cause once this peace time pops. Everyone will start pointing, blaming, and attacking one another. Just like the last time." He smiled sadly. "These fools never learn. It's why I always call them morons, I only speak the truth."
He sheathed his blade. "They may change, but I think I'll stay the same. Peace it seems, has made them lose sight of the danger in the horizon. Enemies, people who seek selfish desires and destruction. Will use this peace to infiltrate, and have the upper hand when the war starts. Until then however," he turned to her, looking into her eyes with a smirk. "When should we start teaching you the basics dearie? Can't interrupt my summoner's classes, remember."
