Personality:
The polar bear spirit known as Maxtla is quiet most of the time, taking pride in his ability to blend in with humanity and do what has been commanded of him. Though a demigod spirit in the form of another, he holds himself to keep the standards of his own spiritual kind. Maxtla is a bringer of silence and a keeper of secrets. He looks down on those that are unable to complete their orders and those that speak to much about what should remain in the shadow. While he does not avoid a fight, he is not known to be the aggressor unless it is a direct order for such a thing.
In public, Maxtla is a silent creature, preferring to keep to himself unless someone or something engages him directly. Even then he may ignore the being doing the talking should it be something he has no interest in. Any care for rearing family he had in the past has long since diminished, his orders to keep the polar bear spirits safe his primary concern due to the banishments that happened so long ago.
History:
Maxtla is a son of the Polar Bear God, Nanuk. He was created alongside his ninety nine family members, Tlapa, Tlacringit, Kayi, Tlapat, Klin, Naklin, Tlamo, Tlatim, Tlaslo, Tlapinti, Kripya, Tliyel, Tliyelin, Blotla, Pactla, Hiryla, Retaw, Tlayinq, quinaya, quinyaya, Kriplyana, Puntla, Allatla, Fritla, Gristla, Mactla, Jatla, Dinliltla, Sulitlana, Mentlana, Tidla, Ertla, Kriyantli, Hahatla, Semla, Ontla, Intla, Shlim, Warintla, Mextla, Penstla, Penstla, Mortla, Ylaipi, Pritla, Nootlin, Rotlana, Skriniya, Bluwid, Tlanid, Evertla, Talini, Priyakli, Chiup, Blontla, Tlalman, Tlalam, Tlanip, Protla, Attla, Sotla, Tlun, Astrila, Clim, Tlapi, Krikaya, Ashtla, Huantla, Tlanana, Depptla, Trinkyi, Tronkyin, Shiya, Katiyana, Tlinro, Nyik, Ragnitla, Akitla, Privtla, Chahatlin, Hootlin, Geltla, Briktla, Striktla, Erolinyat, Chachat, Krotla, Tlarin, Motla, Sotla, Nylaipin, Tlayopi, Truyi, Tlapripta, Carpitla, and their mother, Tla.
The Polar Bears hunted by the wild, aboriginal tribes of the coldest, northernmost Wildes rely on their hunters to treat their carcasses with respect. Certain traditions grant the bear a peaceful passing onto the Hereafter. Disrespect and disgrace of their carcasses and body parts make the path to the Hereafter turbulent and harsh, with some bear spirits not surviving and falling based on the level of poor treatment of their remains. Fallen bear spirits are left to wander the world as lost souls, many of which seek revenge on the people and tribes that disrespected their remains.
A certain tribe gifted in magic and spirit-handling talents paid no heed to how they treated the hunted bear carcasses, as the lost souls that dared challenge them were met with a horrifying and absolute end, sometimes destroyed, and other times cast into the pits of the Dark Place, a hell. Witnessing so many of their distant relatives dying in such a manner, Nanuk, the Polar Bear god and king, sent one of his daughters to deal with the taboo-breaking tribe. He sent Nylaipin, whose name meant ‘The Snows of Yesteryear”, in hopes that she would purge their stain on bearkind and make it no more than a blot in the past.
Nylaipin obeyed her king and father’s order, setting out to eradicate the tribe that disrespected and damned many good polar bears. She fought bravely, resistant to their spirit-based charms, and killed off the grown hunters, destroyed their houses, and looked for any bear remains she could find in order to properly bury them at the very least, so that some might find a narrow path to return home on. However, there were a few faces the large polar bear demigod could not bring her massive claws down upon. The faces of innocent children, whose parents had committed a sin against Nanuk, but had no fault of their own. No blood was on their hands and in her mind, they did not deserve to die.
Rounding up these couple of children, Nylaipin carried them all, their tiny hands and fingers clinging to her snowy-white fur. As the children road, their language not let developed, they murmured the word ‘Poba’ in their desperate attempts to pronounce and name the tenderhearted polar bear. She carried them to a local tribal village that had done right in the eyes of Nanuk. The kind families were eager to adopt the children, taking them from her white pelt and accepting them as their own.
Whereas Nylaipin was content wih her mission, and ready to come back home, father was not so happy with her. She had not done as she was told, she had not gone through the entire cleansing of the taint that she had been sent out to wipe clean. His sister had become an outcast, no longer allowed to call home 'home' anymore. With her exiled, father chose one to walk the earth as one to make sure the events that had happened would never take place again. Maxtla was chosen to leave home and make sure that no one would ever hurt them again.
Doing as his sister did, Maxtla would take on a human shape and work himself into society. He had two tasks, ensure the safety and secrecy of the family, and make sure his sister did nothing to cause problems; or else.
Over the centuries, Maxtla was the silent killer that cause thise that would harm the spirits to disappear. Even more, the children of the tribe that had been saved would find that their descendants were dying at a surprising rate from 'accidents and natural causes.' Maxtla's task was not only to keep the issue from happening again, but to finish what his sister could not. They were not easy to find, the mixed bloodlines making it hard to pinpoint them on direct familial resemblance. it boiled down to being directly near them, and that was why he had travelled the world many times until he found himself in the same school that his outcast sister was in. Would she recognize him in this form? Or would he be able to hide enough to keep himself secret until his tasl was complete?
♦ SPECIES INFORMATION ♦
Name of Species: Werecreature
Baseline Dimension: When in humanoid form they typically range from 5 to 7 feet tall and weight from 100 to 200 lbs.The animal form is twice the size of it’s normal animal counterpart and it’s normal weight plus half.
Baseline Appearance: The appearance of Weres is realistic to humans for the most part expect their eyes come in a much wider range able to be almost every color. When in animal form they do tend to follow realistic colorations with pelts, save for the eyes. When the animal pelt doesn’t match the humanoid hair color at first transformation, a were’s human appearance may change when they transform back, if it does so this is permanent.
Culture/Origin of Species:
The rumor is that unholy creatures have stolen the pelt of humans and wear them to venture out of the wilds in order to invade civilized society. However, if you ask any Were for the truth the exact opposite is the truth! Each and every naturally born Were is born in a humanoid form, or turned from an actual human, it’s the animal that is worn by them in order to survive in their wild home. Most of the Weres that do venture out of the wilds mean no harm whatsoever and are simply curious about the other creatures around them. Short of the night in which they are corrupted by the full moon’s light? The species is dolce towards other creatures who can find decent common ground with them. However, living as to different things they are both efficient at defending themselves and vicious in doing so. Yet, somehow even when feral Weres will never attack each other as if they have some special way to tell who isn’t one of them.
Traits:
• Outside of when the Full Moon is hanging in the sky, Weres can freely transform between their animal and humanoid forms, or somewhere between them if necessary.
• Regardless of their current body these creatures have incredible senses that far exceed anything most others possess as they have the senses of two species stacked atop each other due to their were condition.
• Weres age extremely slow compared to humans having average lifespans of 300 years even in areas of great danger.
• Almost any injury dealt to a were from anything besides things containing silver, bane, something doused in vampire venom, will heal over next to immediately.
• Being excellent hunters these creatures have what one may call ‘predator sense’ once they locked onto a target for some reason, it's next to impossible to lose them.
• Many claim that were species are super fast that you just can’t see them, this is actually false, instead light reflects remarkably well off their pelt making them generally harder to see as it plays tricks on the eyes.
• Weres possess a venom in their fangs that when injected into humans via their bite, transforms the human into a were.
• When a were is not transformed to most interacting with them the species seems to be normal humans.
• Being a wilds dwelling breed, most weres have an impeccable ability to identify plants and animals from all over the place.
• Regardless of distance if a Were is capable of communicating telepathically with other Weres if they both wish to.
Flaws:
• Weres have an extreme weakness to anything involving the metal silver, it burns their flesh and weapons made from it are very efficient at killing them.
• Bane is highly toxic to Weres, even the smallest amount of this varied plant species or things derived from it is capable of bringing one down.
• If a Were shape shifting willingly is jolted with electricity the transformation is stopped and will not work again for about fifteen minutes.
• Once every moon cycle, on the full moon, weres are forced to transform against their will and unable to shift back until sunrise. Most weres unassisted by magic go completely feral during this time often needing chained or caged to avoid harming other species.
• The sole reason Weres tend to stay away from Vampires, is that the bite of the Vampire is poison to them.
