welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Akeldama was doing her best in studying, she really was. But the temperature in the library was jut perfect for napping. And somehow the desk was so comfortable. The dream she had slipped into was nice at first. It was a couple dancing. What she saw before her was hard to wrap her mind around. They were like no creature she had ever seen, and that was saying something considering the world she found herself in now.
To be frank, she would not have pegged what they were doing as dancing if her dream had not described it to be as such. Then the dream started to turn strange. And at the first bite one of them took to the other Akeldama woke in a scream. It was if she herself could feel her soul being rended and consumed by the action.
Yet even as she woke reality was overlaid with the nightmare, and she scrambled up and away from the phantom nightmare that only she could see. “No no no! Stop! Please!” She whimpered, holding up her hands in useless defense.

Kaname went into the library in yet another attempt to find a book about the sword that she possessed. Her last few attempts had been derailed by surprisingly pleasant socials with other students. That was great and all, but the hybrid needed to find facts and fast. She dipped into the library in yet another effort to get something done. Once again she got derailed by a situation that she had walked in on. Kaname spotted the Akeldama girl from a few weeks ago sleeping on a table but acting like she was in distress; her hands were raised in what looked to be a defensive posture.
Kaname quickly waked over to Akeldama and tried to wake her up. "Hey Akeldama, wake up! It's Kaname!" Kaname whispered to her while shaking her shoulder.

It took Akeldama a moment to place the girl she’d only seen once before, immediately grabbing onto her name as if it were a life raft. She could see the girl, but the nightmare was not gone. It was overlaid this reality, and felt all too real. “Kaname. It won’t go away.” She said with a trembling voice, trying to be quiet for now she remembered she was in a library. She was up now, standing and clenching the desk with a death grip.
For those who could see her aura- it usually was either a golden sand, shifting with its flow, or a thick miasmic red. Currently it was both, and the red was stretched far beyond her body, thinner than usual as it was spread out further. It writhed as if it itself were being attacked by the throes of the nightmare.

Kaname saw Akeldama act in a way she had never seen the other girl act before. That was not too hard because they had met only once before, but the point remained. It was clear that Akeldama needed help and fast. However, Kaname had no idea of what to do to really help her.
"What can I do to help?" Kaname asked Akeldama softly. The latter was standing straight up with an unbreakable grip on the table and the hybrid did not know how to help. She wanted to go get a faculty member but did not want to abandon Akeldama for even a moment.
Kaname could see the supernatural and thus was able to see Akeldama's aura. The hybrid did not know what it normally looked like, but right now she saw that it was both a light gold like sand and a thin red, and the red portion was stretched far beyond her body. The aura writhed as if it itself were being attacked by whatever unknown force was that was affecting Akeldama.

“Make it stop eating me!” Akeldama shouted, in her fear forgetting for a moment where exactly she was. She could see, but it was overlaid with the waking nightmare of that being. Her nightmare told her that it was a daemon, as if that were self explanatory. But she didn’t know what that was. Or why it was supposedly eating her because it loved her. Or rather, not-her. This wasn’t her.
It was someone else. “Make it stop.” She said again, clenching her eyes shut in the hope that would do something. Tears began to well up in her eyes.

Kaname had no idea what to do and her growing panic was only compounded by Akeldama's own panic. The latter was pleading for help, but the hybrid had no idea of what to do to help. What could she do? Maybe Akeldama herself could give her an idea of what to do in order to assist. "What can I do? Do I use a weapon, do I go into the dream world, or what? What I can I do?" Kaname whispered her desperate query to her fellow student. She hoped that Akeldama could give an answer before it was too late.

“I don’t know. Stop them. Stop… Stop us. We… We can’t stop.” She didn’t know what was happening right now. Focus. Akeldama managed to tell herself. Kaname was asking how she could help her. She had to think of a way to communicate what was going on. “Its… Its a daemon. Two, one… I’m not sure any more.”
What was currently going on- unbeknownst to Akeldama- was that this was a nightmare. Not her nightmare per say, yet it was happening in the confines of her mind. Were it her nightmare waking up would have been enough to free her from the visuals. This was the nightmare of a far more enduring and vast entity. This was Capone’s nightmare, and Akeldama was straddling the line between her own mind and her future mind’s nightmares.
Her fingers were beginning to crackle with paradoxical energy.

Kaname did not want to hear that demons were responsible for what was happening to Akeldama, but now Kaname had a faint idea of what was affecting the girl. The hybrid still had no idea of what she could do to stop them. If she could go into the dream world, maybe the hybrid could sort them out with her sword.
Kaname looked around to try and spot any signs of the supernatural and thought that she saw demons hovering just above Akeldama with their hands gripping her head. She was not sure if they were there or not. Maybe she should try to find a demon expert to help so that Kaname did not screw things up.

What Kaname saw in the aura was the two vastly different color of auras shifting against each other, the red aura far more vast and agitated in the state of the nightmare. Not so much demons in on themselves, but it could appear to be a conflict of spirits. However, if one were looking it would not appear as though either one of the spiritual entities were devouring one or the other.
Akeldama’s agonized expression changed to pained glee. “We- We won’t stop. I won’t. Its too late now.” Her voice was cracking. It fluctuated wildly between fear, regret, and a maniacal glee. “There’s nothing you can do.”
A cackle began to grow from Akeldama’s lips as tears flowed down her cheeks. “Its too late now! She’s already apart of me! She’s mine now, we will live on together. Forever. You can’t change that. This….” Akeldama pulled back her left sleeve, revealing a strange looping mark on her arm. “Changes nothing.”
Only a daemon would recognize the markings as anything other than a strange occurrence of the skin. Or understand what they truly meant. Unholy fusion.
With a start Capone woke up, Akeldama’s sandy aura shifting away to inside her body as Capone’s red aura stabilized and pulled back closer to the vessel as she came back to reality. Capone, Akeldama’s resident daemon, looked around the library at all the people staring at her, then felt the tears on her face and how she had exposed the mark on her arm. Akeldama had shared her nightmare… Poor thing. Capone knew she should say something, but for the life of her, she wasn't sure what.

Kaname was not exactly sure what had just happened, but she did not like it in the least. Someone named "Capone" claimed that the joining of himself and Akeldama was permanent and that Kaname could do nothing to stop it. Akeldama exposed a strange looping mark on her arm as proof of the claim, then the aura stabilized. Akeldama came out of the nightmare and started to cry... that was something Kaname could help with. "Are you OK, Akeldama?" Kaname asked her fellow student while ignoring the stares of all the other people in the library. Kaname could care less about what they thought. Right now Akeldama needed someone to care for her, not ostracize her.

That was right… She could use this person’s help. Akeldama, the fragile thing, would need it more than her. But… Capone could easily black out her memories. She’d done it plenty of times. Usually it was during the fact, during a total possession. But after the fact shouldn’t be too hard. Capone shook her head slowly, a negatory response to whether or not she was okay.
No. No she wasn’t.
“How much did you all hear?” She asked the person before her. She could get quite verbal and loud during her nightmares. So she had to know the extent of the damage done. This... This was stupid surely. Foolish. But Brownie Points, a part of her once severed away and now rejoined... Wouldn't say this was. This was an opportunity. Capone was just... Not sure about it at all.

Kaname had heard a few things, but nothing terribly specific. She would tell Akeldama what she did hear in order to try and bring some peace of mind to the visibly distraught girl.
"First I heard you say “No no no! Stop! Please!” before putting your hands up to defend yourself." Kaname said to Akeldama.
"Then when I asked how I could help, you shouted “Make it stop eating me!” The hybrid continued to list what she had heard.
"When I asked how I could stop them, your answer was “I don’t know. Stop them. Stop… Stop us. We… We can’t stop.” Kaname continued. She then added another part to the list so far.
"At one point you told me “Its… Its a daemon. Two, one… I’m not sure any more.” Kaname added before stopping for breath. Akeldama had said quite a bit over the brief but terrifying ordeal. She would let Akeldama respond before saying anything else.

“Oh boy.” Capone muttered under her breath, bringing up her hand and sweeping back her hair from her face, looking at the ceiling for a moment. She was quiet for a second, taking a few breaths. “Do you people know what daemons are in this dimension?” That would further tell her how much had been revealed.
Capone was personally doubtful they would know. But this dimension was more magical than most, it was potentially possible. If they did know then she’d just revealed a lot more than she had ever really wanted to let be known. But at least this girl had been fully honest with what had been said. Capone could know what she was dealing with here. She rubbed at her eyes vigorously, wanting to remove any evidence of tears. She couldn't cry in public. Her pride wouldn't allow it.

"I'll give it to you straight. I have no idea what daemons are. That's why I was asking for advice on what to do." Kaname admitted to Akeldama. She had no idea how to deal with them. Her first impulse was to use the sword, but knowing her luck the sword would only empower them instead. She did not want to face powered-up demons in the middle of a school library without any idea of how to really fight them. She noticed Akeldama trying not to cry in public. The hybrid did not blame her. People were quick to make fun of people who did that, even if the reason was fully justifiable. That was why Kaname never cried in public, or at all.

No idea huh? Well that was good news. “Well then.” Capone rubbed at her face, trying to banish the nightmare from her thoughts. That was good news at least. “We should probably at the least get out of here.” She said as she made her way out of the library, not entirely certain whether she wanted Kaname to follow or if she wanted to tell the girl more. But… Maybe it’d be a good idea? She wasn’t sure though.
