welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

The teenager spent nearly too much of her time studying lately, but it was perfectly fine because now it was the weekend and while many of her advanced classmates who were taking numerous classes just like her had their homework left, the girl had finished it earlier in the week! Lavender was happy to get out of her dorm room again for the day, feet swiftly moving to carry her down to the basketball court and grab one of the balls off to the side of it, ready to play even if it was alone.

It was spring already. For Wani, winter had passed by mercilessly and without leaving a single trace, because now the roads were free of snow and the sun came forth through holes in the grey sky. A calm and relaxing weekend was waiting for him, and he was waiting for it. The previous weekends were used for homework - biology studies most for Ms. Merlissa’s classes. However, things would change now that he had this weekend off, so instead of dying out in his dorm, he should just make himself walk out and take a waddle across the fresh atmosphere.
… He could swear that he knew her. Oh, yes, it had been such a while, but he definitely remembered young, little Lavender. He hoped that she couldn’t read his thoughts - maybe she was stubborn and would take it for an insult? That was his only experience with younger children, since he was an only-child and only ever hung out with his neighbor’s children back in Hisakawa.
Was she going to play basketball all by herself? Seeing her prepare for a throw all independently was actually a little cute, but what kind of douchebag would he be if he didn’t join her? Besides, there was no way that she wouldn’t notice his presence by now; his arms rested through the court’s grid fence as he looked like he was about to nap anytime.
“Are you always out doing something by yourself…?” he spoke to her softly, “Care if I keep you company?”

❝ | Vow to leave me and not die yourself. Shine upon this ebony night, beautiful life. Smother my screams, sweet flame. Swear to cease me from reviving. Sing to this moonlight, beautiful life. Cremate this body of mine, sweet flame.
Sing me to sleep, warmth. Devour me, ebony void | ❞ |
Beneath the beautiful sky, the soothing atmosphere tickling at her frame with step and with her arms rose, the shadow formed a cross with the cast of the sun. Tapping against the concrete path with the occasional greenery tickling the bare flesh of her feet, she spun with the blossom of her dress, and with white cloths, she bloomed like a flower beneath the warmth of the sun. Lifting her arms above her head, to the sky, she motioned around with her thoughts, and for a moment, whatever danced she appeared to be doing wasn't quite a dance. It was practicing with balance and shifting weight, training with flexibility, on her side was Neve, the attendant, gesturing in motion, spinning motions that Aethon found herself mimicking, and with the silence in their dance, the movements known between sadness and desperation reflecting their inner emotions. The blizzard Pheonix believed expression through actions spoke louder than any words, and maybe, it helped her understand through these actions, after all, Aethon wasn't easily vocal in that regard.
"I believe that is enough today." Turning her heel with a final spin, ending on a note facing Aethon, the servant's hand returning to over her lap, she spoke with a smile. Gesturing the songbird to sit on a bench, next to the path many students crossed, and after a bit of conversation with the two, mainly Neve speaking about the task of today, along with the importants of Aethon taking care of herself, she transformed into an icy bird, on average with other phoenixes, but a little smaller, she flew away. "Try conversing." She said gently, like a mother, as she vanished from sight, but in truth, she hid in bushes or trees to oversee the songbird interact with the world. "Don't worry, I'll do my best." She murmured softly.
Once left to her devices, Aethon, the songbird wandered around the concrete path with a book in hand and those soft blue hues, she trailed around to the courtyard with a book in hand. Converse with others..?, a difficult request for the Songbird, but, she promised to try... Compared to her home, Hisakawa, everything in this academy was perplexing and nothing short of that. It wasn't that her blood was too rich, but how other interacted so casually, so friendly, threw her in a loop of thoughts and considering her past... Ugh, frustration with being a common person, a regular bird in a great world.
Shaking her head with her thoughts, she heard a few thoughts within the distance, from the basketball court, and with some investigation, she saw two teenagers. Ah, maybe it would be wise to watch the two, so with that thought, she sat at a bench nearest to the court to watch with her book in lap, opened as her head canted downward. She thought it'd be awkward to straight stare, so she pretended to do something else. She did offer a gentle wave of a hand and a wiggle of her fingers in greeting.

Spring was one of her favorite seasons as a child, though it was of a bit of an annoyance now because of feelings she didn't understand starting to rise up during it every time the season rolled around even beginning as early as late winter sometimes since her first period. Understandably? These spring days she tended to spend a decent chunk of time trying to figure out why her body was hot and her appetite changed like crazy.
Hearing a familiar voice she turned around not seeing the ball she had just tossed go right into the basket. "Not always, I just put school work over excessive socialization." she spoke up, explaining that she didn't like to get 'too friendly' during school hours because she needed to be able to focus again within seconds. "You can even play if you want." she laughed slightly at the round about way he asked to get into the game, brushing her hair to the side as she removed a scrunchie from her pocket to tie her long locks into a pony tail to make playing easier.
Blue optics spotting the other girl, Lavender started to decide if she was going to go over and pester the book reader to join them or not, gaze trained over there.

Excessive… socialization. That sounded harmful, especially with the adjective ‘excessive’ put into it. Wani was glad to have taken things very, very easily, not having felt the need to hurry up on a lot and taken time to process through things. Whereas Lavender prioritized school work, Wani was simply lazy. And yet, his grades looked fairly well in his year.
Maybe he just thought that he was lazy. Maybe he wasn’t fair with himself.
Anyway, she gave green light to let him join and play basketball with her. He let go of the iron fence and took a second of breath before walking straight through it. He then dashed towards the ball and picked it up before spotting the blonde spectator as well. He suddenly got the idea to put a little effort into this game in order to impress her - a typical middle school thing for a senior guy to think of - and with the basketball in his hands, he decided to start off by balancing it on his index finger and spinning it around- oh wait, it fell off, shit.
He picked it up again, a little fast to not appear too shocked and to have more time trying again. He balanced it on his right index finger, then proceeded to softly bash it with his left hand to make it spin- crap, it fell off again. This time, however, he was quick enough to grab the ball midair, but he began eyeing it like an obstacle. It was… mighty difficult to make it spin like those stars in the sports channel, it appeared.
