welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Ryse hurried from the class, textbooks in her arms. It was the middle of the day, which meant it was lunchtime for her. Her stomach rumbled as it demanded food, but at the moment her mind was on getting back to her dorm room so she could put her things away before she went to get lunch in the cafeteria. She wasn't going to get food all over her precious books and notes. No siree.
As she rushed around a group of students, trying to avoid them, someone stepped out in front of her, and she didn't have time to stop. She ran into the person, giving an 'oof' as she stumbled backwards, falling to the ground. Her books and notes scattered everywhere, much to her dismay. "I'm so sorry! Are you okay?!" She said in concern as she hurriedly picked up one of her books, looking at the person she'd accidentally barreled into.
What was it with her and running into people? This was the second time in the last few months she'd done this. First it was the boy Zeke, and now this other person. She really needed to watch where she was going..... She hoped the other person wasn't hurt.

Edgelord Stupidity tagged / notes / etc Another day, another group of papers Erika had to grade from one of her classes. Global Political Climates, a horrible subject but she had to cover it for the sole reason that it was a major requirement for those who wished to go hungry for the rest of their lives... oh wait, those were called philosphy majors. Detestible students, always asking questions that didn't pertain to the topic at hand or, the unforgivable sin, telling Erika she was wrong. The students would get to see just how "wrong" Erika was when they witnessed the violent assault from her red pen upon their papers, a color which would dash their hopes, dreams, and grade point averages in one fell swoop.
Suddenly, Erika's blissful stroll through the school's hallways was interrupted by a degenerate, uh... student, bumped into her. Erika's stance was firm so her body didn't feel the cold embrace of the floor, but the papers weren't so lucky. The papers were tossed by the wayside as the icy embrace of the hallway met them with harsh indifference. Erika's eyes glanced at the papers as they were liberally scattered about, and then towards the assailant who had the audacity to ram into her. Sadly, this is a situation Erika would have found hilarious had it not been for her being the one hit, truly a pity but now retribution would be had. A small cough escaped from Erika's lips as a glare would meet the body of the girl, and a pompous voice would meet her ear.
'Oh, I think you will find that I am quite alright, unlike yourself. What's your name and grade? Also, I hope your hands are as fast as your feet, for that will benefit you in picking up the mess you have made. Of course, once you have finished that... I'm sure you'll be more than happy to "help" me grade them... yes?"

Ryse froze upon realizing that she’d ran into a teacher. And one that seemed to be having a very bad day. ’Oh boy...
“um... I’m Ryse Azar. 11th grade.” She replied nervously. Scrambling into action once again upon hearing the professor give her a task of picking up the papers, she moved collect her things and papers as quickly as possible. Some students hadn’t cared about the things and had trampled her notebooks. One of them had landed in a puddle and gotten soaked, causing her to pout, thinking of all her ruined notes she’d have to rewrite. She could dry the notebook easily enough, but the pen she’d used to write them would no doubt be bleeding through all the pages by now. While collecting her things she picked up the papers, and within five minutes she’d collected them all and arranged them into a neat pile once again. She walked up to the teacher who was still waiting, bowing her head as she handed them back. “I’m really sorry that I ran into you, Professor.” She apologized guiltily. Luckily none of the papers had landed in a puddle like her notebook had, but a few were a little creased. “I honestly didn’t mean to.”

Edgelord Stupidity tagged / notes / etc "And late last century during the tragic battle of the border Captain Oliver didn't expect his own men to be caught in the blast of his miscalculated artillery blast, but that doesn't didn't make it better when he was court marshaled. Good intentions don’t make the action right. "
Erika stated with a harsh tone, palpable anger persisted in her tone even after the girl, Ryse, had cleaned up the mess. Such an afront to Erika’s very being wouldn’t be easily forgiven, and a swift punishment was in store for her in the form of having to watch Erika grade the papers. Erika, despite all evidence to the contrary for those who were casual observers, did have a heart. Taking note of one of the girls note books that fell into the puddle Erika took a mental note to ask her about its state later, she wanted her punished not failing… at least not yet.
“Now as for a punishment for your “good intentions”, and because you decided to ask if I was okay instead of immediately taking action to rectify your mistake… you’ll be joining me in my grading of these papers. You can of course choose not to come with me, as everything in life is a choice, but if you decide to avoid this punishment you may find college… difficult to enter in a couple of years.”
Did Erika just make a threat against her future? Yes. Was it petty? Yes. Was it an Erika thing to do? Maybe. Erika merely wished for her to learn that there were consequences to actions, intended or not since Erika was a teacher after all, and a damn good one at that! She had perfect reviews from every terrified student she ever had. Regardless of if Ryse agreed or not Erika would grab the papers and begin to make her way back towards her office, ready to once again slaughter the dreams of straight A students everywhere.

Ryse wouldn't quite put it that far as to compare accidentally running into a teacher as the same as a commander who blew up his own men by accident. Which she didn't know had happened. The history of Mistere wasn't one she knew very well. But she did know the point the teacher was trying to make. All actions have consequences; good or bad ones.
"Well, um... I thought seeing if you were okay was more important in the moment." She rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. She'd thought it was the the right thing to do at the time... had she been wrong in her decision? She still felt that it had been right, but the professor's words confused her. Then froze as the professor threatened to make getting into college very hard for her, her face paling. Ryse was a studious kind of person. She worked very hard when it came to her classes and learning. She probably worked doubly as hard as most students. And this was because of her drive to succeed. Her need to graduate and get a good degree. She'd promised her mother she would, and she was aiming to do just that. Not just because of what her mom wanted, but because it was what she wanted as well. Not being able to go to college would wreck that dream.
"N-no no! I'll come with you!" She exclaimed, following after the professor back to her office. Helping the teacher grading papers was better than not being able to go to college. Even if it meant skipping lunch. "What's your name? I-if you don't mind me asking."
