welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Ozaki had filled out all the right forms to requisition this classroom for his brewing tonight. There were a lot of things he did not have at home that would be far far too expensive to get all at once for this one thing he needed to make.
He had everything he needed, amongst those ingredients being a bouquet of forget-me-nots, and a spirit in a jar. It hit the sides of the jar angrily, and Ozaki did his best to ignore it as he worked on throwing everything together, stirring it just the right way, and keeping it at just the right temperature.

It was one of those nights where Shirone was awake due to napping through the afternoon. She had been idly strolling the school buildings, on all fours as usual.
Until she came across a classroom still in use, where she could vaguely feel the spirit presence being disturbed. In an attempt to find out more, Shirone jumped up to a windowsill and peered inside through an opened window.
Something big was happening, or at least, the dude making a ruckus made it seem like that. In fact, the guy looked familiar.... and after a moment of pondering, she knew why. That incident back then with Nyx. Now curious, she observed in more detail... and found the source for the disturbance she was sensing.
A jar. A locked up spirit. And while she knew that these practices were common, she couldn't quite pass this by, so the white, ice-eyed cat entered the room and quickly sat itself behind the spirit jar, resting her front paws on the thing and only then let a disapproving meow resound.

Ozaki continued his preparations, sniffing the beaker a few times to be sure that it was of the right smell. Blackberries. Weird that it had to smell particularly of that for this to work. At least for this particular part of the process. He was doing alright so far. It was then he noticed the cat in the room, and looked at it with brow furrowed. He guessed he shouldn’t have left the window open.
It suddenly clicked for him, and he bolted out of his chair as his instincts screeched at him to get the hell away from the divine being. He calmed after a second, still highly nervous but trying not to be rude. “Aaah…. Hi there… Umm… Excuse me. But this is school property so… Can you… I mean are you a student? A teacher?” Odds were that this cat was sentient. Usually things without some measure of intellect didn’t get to the level of divinity.

The sudden recoil wasn't what Shirone had exactly expected to see as a reaction to her presence and she simply tilted her head where she was and began to mull over why he didn't recognize her.
In fact, she only registered his questions on a side-note. Until she finally had the revelation. This guy hadn't seen her current form. Without further ado, the cat hopped from the table and as it touched the ground, changed forms. Within a second, a tiny, white-haired girl in hoodie stood in the room and placed one hand back on the jar.
"Suzuya Shirone, College Freshman.... so, what are you doing? Looks interesting... .... and... what about this spirit?" The quiet girl, once more tilted her head at the staffer.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend. Its just my variant of vampire doesn’t take well to… Umm… Holy… Types. People. Cats. Cat people.” Ozaki was bungling this. And now he didn’t have the easy out of him saying she couldn’t be here. Of course she could be here. “I don’t remember if I introduced myself that night.”
Everything was a bit of a blur after he had been charred alive by that phoenix fire flare. He was completely healed by now at least though. In response to her question he looked a little guilty. “I’m Ozaki. I’m working on a potion… And… I need part of the spirit for the potion. Its kind of like an ingredient I guess.”

Outwardly unfazed by Ozaki's ramble, the gears inside Shirone's head were turning fast. Right, a vampire. And apparently one weak to divine presence. "You were introduced..." As far as she recalled, his name had been called during that encounter.
However, the next part had her up to speed in a millisecond. She let him finish, then closed her eyes before asking. "You mean to say that you need part of a soul for this..." And opening her eyes again, the Nekogami fixed her gaze on the vampire ".. did the spirit agree to this?.." And then after a moment's consideration, she added on. "...Or rather, did you ask?.."

Ozaki bit his lip, having to be careful not to draw blood. “Umm… No. But it has… Well.. It has killed multiple people. And I only need a piece.” He started fidgeting heavily with his nails, looking down at the page of the second book he had in here that was opened to a part that would tell him how to split off a portion of the spirit’s soul.
To those that were unwilling it would be quite the painful procedure. “But it can’t exactly… Talk any more. So I can’t ask it.” It had lost a lot of its mind in the rapid state it was in, even before he had put it in a jar. If it were willing the method would be painless. Artists put a piece of their soul into whatever they made all the time. It was usually not painful, but it was intensive and required caring a lot about what was being done in order for it to truly work.

Inquisitive as she was, Shirone noticed how his eyes went to an opened book and immediately began to study the pages. Soulsplitting techniques. All the while, her attention at hearing what Ozaki had to say.
"I see..", was all she replied before she lifted the spirit jar right in front of her face to observe the spirit inside. This went on for a little while, until Shirone finally sighed. "This then, shall be your punishment, to offer some of yours for the ones you took. Balance is required." She then fell silent for a moment, before returning her gaze to Ozaki. "This one will likely be more cooperative now... but, be wary when stepping into the realm of spirits."
She left it at that cryptic remark and seated herself on a closed windowsill to continue her observation of the whole process. Did anyone ever say something about curiosity and cats?

For a moment there Ozaki had thought she was talking to him whilst saying that, and was getting a tad riled up. If he had had the soil to offer, he wouldn’t be doing this. He then realized his mistake and was glad he hadn’t said anything aloud in contest to it. When she said it would be more cooperative he found himself confused. “What’d you do?” Was it some sort of magic thing she just did? He would need to know I case it altered the method of soul splitting he’d have to use. If it were the willing one... it would probably still be a little tricky given that it barely had a mind of its own to care about much of anything but revenge. Never mind helping him make the potion he was working on.

And once more the girl's head tilted. For several seconds. "...You saw what I did.. I told it to.." She explained this as if it was natural to do that. And to her, it was. Thus, it took her a while until her face lit up with realization. "I suppose you don't know what I am, then?...", she asked curiously and once more her form shifted, but this time she retained human features, while cat ears, slitted pupils and fangs grew on her, along with a tail. To top it off, a blue hue of color enclosed her eyes.

Ozaki’s eyes lit up in understanding as it clicked for him. He had seen her turn from cat into human, but many species had transformation magic. There were even a few types of cat-based species out there. But he was getting it now. She was a nekogami Commanding a spirit to provide part of its spirit willfully would be easy for them. “Oooh. I see now. Sorry for not figuring it out before…” He muttered, turning back to the spirit, then back to the book.
He’d like to pay her more attention… But this was a time sensitive concoction. And he couldn’t afford to wait.
Alright then… This should be easier if it were at least compliant. It if were compliant and cognizant of the good it would hopefully produce, this would be much easier. He might not even have to do anything, so long as the spirit itself played a part in creating the potion. Indeed if he could get Shirone to help even this might not be needed… But he dare not ask Shirone to help, to actually get her to care to the depths that would be required he’d have to tell her his real purposes for making this. And she might not even care about that reason.
The vampire wasn’t exactly jumping at the bit to tell people his sob story. If she were fully willing and cognizant it would not even hurt. All Shirone would have to do was genuinely care and want to do a good job, with all of her heart and soul.
Ozaki took a small blackboard and drew the ritual markings that were on the book onto it, placing the jar on top of it. He muttered a few words to the jar, most of it the spell. But the rest of it was also required in order for this version to work. He had to ask, appeal to its nature. Ozaki wasn’t sure if that were possible, but he had to try. “If you give me this I’ll let you go back home, I’ll put you exactly where I found you. I just really need this. Its important to me. I need this to work. It may be the only thing that can fix things.” And while it could not understand the words, it could understand the intent of what was being said. It could feel his aura, his emotions laden within it. He was earnest and desperate. Coupled with the nekogami’s aide, it complied with the wish of the spell, and a small piece of it split off.
Just the tiniest drop, but that was all that was needed. Even a singular grain of one’s soul was enough to bring life to dreams. Ozaki unscrewed the jar slowly, surprised when the subdued spirit did not even try to escape, and reached his hand in slowly to pick out the tiny piece the spell had provided.
Upon putting it into the potion the murky black substance turned into a stunning aquamarine blue, vivid with the life it had just been given.

Shirone rarely transformed into her Spirit Form, even if it was probably the closest to being her true form. This was due to the fact that, unlike her other two forms, this one clearly gave her away for what she was. The others made her seem either like a human or cat. Both were easier to walk around in without attracting attention, something that she wasn't especially fond of. And as far as her understanding went, her kind was extremely rare, so her true form pulled even more eyes to it. In fact, her kind was so rare that most did not seem to recognize them even in their true forms, which was why she was at least mildly surprised, judged by the rising of her brows, when Ozaki seemed to know.
Half expecting him to question her about her kind, she was somewhat relieved to find him focusing on the concoction he was brewing almost immediately after. It surely wasn't pretty to look at, but that didn't interest her nearly as much as what he did with the spirit next. Leaning forward just a bit to see better, tail swishing in curiosity, she observed how the split happened, without troubles and while Ozaki was finishing his potion, now a much kinder color than before, the Nekogami approached the table once more and took the spirit from it's jar, leaving it floating just an inch above her palm for a few seconds before it made a few quick spirals around the girl's arm and then the entirety of the room before returning to her and subsequently even to the jar, which the cat left open however. After having made sure of the spririt's wellbeing like this, Shirone returned her attention to Ozaki. "I'm sure you know this, but a promise made to a spirit is one that should be kept...", she reminded him softly before quickly coming to the other topic at hand. "... I didn't ask before, but.. what did I help you make?" Once more, her head tilted in wonder, while her ears and eyes fixated the vampire.

He nodded. While the storehouse would find an extra spirit handy, they would not bemoan the absence of something they did not even know he had had to begin with. He had no further need for it. Perhaps in the future he might, but Ozaki could easily acquire another one when there wasn’t a divine being lurking over his shoulder.
Ozaki took the beaker and then poured it into a crystal bottle that had been waiting on the side, twisting the stopper into it to make sure none of it would spill even if it fell over. He didn’t know why- but the potion was required to be kept in a bottle. A bottle specifically. Otherwise it would loose its effectiveness rather quickly. The bottle was even so pertinent to the cocktail that it was even part of the name. “Its called A Bottle of Stevens, and is said to awaken ancient feelings. Like… feelings you had long ago that have either been long since buried or moved past or maybe just shoved to the side. Stuff like that.”
He reached into his pocket and glanced at his phone quickly to see if he had gotten a reply from Olivia yet. Two weeks? Even in this bottle, he had to drink it within at least a week for maximum potency. And it would be best to drink it at such if he were to acquire the ability to replicate it within the first go. According to the book the effects of the serving size would only last thirty minutes. But that was on a normal person. For a vampire that would be five hours.
Five hours would be more than enough time to process and lock the potion into his talent’s memory.
But… She wasn’t here. Maybe he should go home and drink this. Or the bat cave? But what if something really bad happened and he needed help? Olivia couldn’t just drop everything for him. This could go disastrously if he did it alone. But if he drank here… There were other problems it could present.

While she was enrolled in a few occult classes, Shirone had to admit that alchemy had not taken much of her interest until now. Thus, hearing of the drink's effect had her blink in surprise before she leaned onto the table and drew close to the bottled liquid, studying it's appearance as if she could see more than there was. And then she recalled what Ozaki had been mumbling to the spirit before. Cats and curiosity, once more.
So, she switched forms to human in just about one second, then tilted her head the other way and waited for Ozaki to pocket his phone. "...Something that will dig forth old memories, then.. or at least, something similar..", she recapped in her typically soft, quiet voice. "...How would this be the only thing that may 'fix things'? Is there something you need to remember, then?.." All things considered, this was nothing short of a very blunt question to ask and anyone that was used to society would likely not have asked, but Shirone.. wasn't quite accustomed to holding her curiosity in check.

Oh. So she’d been listening intently earlier then. And now was asking him questions. He guessed he should have expected something like this. But he had been hoping not to have to answer any questions at all. “Well… The hope is to have someone else remember something.” He would be as vague as he could.
Though the way Shirone worded it made Ozaki wonder if it could work on memories as well as emotions. The potion seemed more focused on emotions… But weren’t memories laden with emotion anyhow? Wouldn’t remembering a feeling bring back the memory any how?
He was going to have to take it in order to replicate it later. But he could not be frank with her on that fact. People who found out how his talent actually worked tended to freak out later once they realized the full extent of what that meant. “Though I am going to have to take it myself to see if it really has the effect I’m hoping for.”
