Name of Talent: Yang
Concept: Yang represents the darkness that is Calabus. Calabus Akamagi is a mysterious creature that no one is quite sure how mere scientists got hold of, let alone why it chose Rika out of all the candidates it had to choose from to become its host and master. It is an immortal spirit that takes on a physical form to interact with the world around it. It typically only shows its true form on the battlefield where it lives and thrives. Outside of this it becomes the dark side of its host, becoming the coldness to the warmth that Rika has. It is a creature that can summon various creatures and spirits to the field during battle and out of it thanks to the souls it has a contracts with. It acts as a guardian and keeper of this odd power using it only for the one it deems worthy of it. Calabus is a familiar to Rika and typically poses himself as a horned male with a devil tail or a dog (see npc description in Rika's Thread Tracker for images) when not in battle. He fights along side Rika in battles.
Extra(s): He can appear as a horned male or dog on the battlefield if he wishes; however, his form is usually determined by his mood or what is needed in a situation
Positive Mechanics:
Calabus works as one with Rika who he has a deep bond with him allowing the pair to be able to communicate telepathically to sync up in battle and also allows the familiar to wander where he wants, but still be able to find and come to Rika if his master needs him. Calabus's abilities are as follows.
1. Spirit Purge: Due to his strong connection to the spirit realm, he has the ability to do the following:
- Travel between the spirit and living realm freely and bring a few people with him if he wishes.
- Guide spirits lost in the world back to their home.
- Can use specific abilities to send spirits back to their home world or eliminate them such as:
using specific energy attacks or energy infused items that can have various effects on spirits such as damaging them, restricting their powers so they cannot hurt another, sealing them into something for transport, or even killing them plus many other effects.
- All attacks and powers used are attempts only and have the ability to fail if a spirit is strong or has resistance to such attacks.
2. Nature/Spirit Talk: Calabus is deeply connected to the world around him allowing him to be able to communicate with the natural world. He can speak with animals and plants allowing him to gain information from them and also form bonds with them that can then be used to request things of the living. Spirit talk represents his deep connection to the spirit realm allowing him to speak, see, and interact with things that others cannot. These spirits can be natural spirits that exist in the realm of the living and also the spirit of the dead. As a result of this deep connection he can create bonds with spirits and requests things from them.
3. Command: Using nature talk or spirit talk,, he can use his ability to ask things from animals, insects, and plants to do tasks for him, such as:
- having plants move out of the way or come up to form bridges, small barriers, or to attempt to ensnare and tangle something.
- having animals retrieve small things for him or go to places he cannot reach, or act as his eyes and ears for something, or to
even attack or aid in a task/battle.
This ability extends over to spirits also and allows him to connect and request things of spirits in an area he is in. Much like nature talk, the type of spirits he can command is determined by the area he is in and the power that can be used is determined by the type of spirit he calls upon. He uses this power for battles and also to get tasks in life done. An example of command is: he can call upon a forest spirit and ask it to use its powers over nature to help him in a battle or with a task. This power does extend over to the dead; however, unlike spirits of the living realm, there is typically a very specific deal made with the dead to get them to assist. Also unlike the living spirits were bonds can be made and kept, bonds with the dead are temporary due to the fact they have to be returned to their own realm lest they become twisted and hostile. Both spirits and things of nature can come bound to a element, with a weapon, or sometimes both depending on what is able to be summoned.
Negative Mechanics:
1. Command works well on normal animals and plants and even those with magical properties; however, more effort and bonds have to be made with creatures who have higher thinking than your typical animal or plant (ie a dragon, a fairy, etc). For spirits, command works well on lower ranking spirits and even those with magical properties allowing him to form bonds easily enough with these or non-hostile ones. However, more effort and deeper bonds have to be made with spirits who have higher power or energies and hostile ones have to be tamed first. The same rule applies to important NPCs.
2. What he can call upon is reliant upon the area he is in. For example: he can command fish if he is underwater. These creatures are not summons nor are they bound to Calabus. Just like people nature beings or spirits can choose to remain loyal, betray, or leave if they wish.
3. While Calabus can wander where he wants and can usually come to Rika when called no matter where he is, dream worlds, spirit worlds, and otherworldly plains can make this a challenge for the familiar since they run on different rules that can seriously mess up the connection between himself and Rika, making it hard to find his master.
4. Since these abilities are tied to Calabus if he is ever release from his contract with Rika or cannot reach Rika in general Calabus takes the power explained above with him leaving Rika with just his own base powers to use to defend himself and others.
