welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Many things had to be done before someone started school, no one could deny that, only most students tended to regard those tasks as only completing summer homework or enjoying the break. As someone much more studious than average she did not regard things in that way. Instead, the teenager wanted to take every step she could to ensure that no matter which of the classes she enrolled within, her scores would be highest or darn close to the highest. To pursue the end she desired the long haired girl had went through the channels required to gain access to the library early for a study group, sure this meant it had to be open to others, but she still obtained what she needed. With access to the library? She could discover which educational books were checked out the most, and thus which ones she should read before classes began! Plus, the best part of all this was that she already had one of her many group activities for the year, running the school's study group from its student stand point unless someone else stepped up to do so.
It was a little after 10'am when the short female strode to the library door and propped it open with one of the chairs from within the building, wanting to make sure anyone wishing to attend the study group felt welcome to do so. "Eldritch Academy Study Group Is Now In Session. I'm Lavender Floretta Smith, Now, If You Please Everyone Introduce Yourself Please." that was a good place to start, she had some popular books on the table but if they were going to be studying together, they'd all need to know what to call one another.

Hmh… school did mean learning, right? Of course, that was the whole concept of a school, so you shouldn’t be any genius to figure that one out. It was practically a self-explanatory question that Wani wouldn’t ask himself. The important question is; how? There were many ways of obtaining the experience needed to excel in classes and studies - you could always do it at home alone, or with a close friend, or with other friends and classmates at a meeting point. Wani challenged himself a little, this time… social activity!
He felt very welcome when he spotted the chair holding the door open despite being a little late. This part of the library was usually pent up by the workers and the librarian, and he remembered the first time here where he lost his pencil inside this room. It had been an awful while, he had a new pen, and it was time to ready for class.
And thus, as he entered, that confident face of Lavender met his collected, silent smile as he stood in front of her. “Sorry, got a little shindeiru on the way. Wani. Ōwatatsumi Wani,” he greeted and gave out his full name before entering, “I… I’m new around here. If there’s any hand signs, handshakes or secret morph code language that you use, let me know. Otherwise, I'll create my own - a language where 'bae' means 'poo' and you message each other backwards.”
His eyes darted directly into Lavender’s with a certain, odd curiosity mixed with the silent, sharp *glare* feeling. Somehow, he felt like he had something personal against her… or with her… or maybe he was just losing it, who knew?

Kaname had been sitting in the library for at least thirty minutes in the area designated for the Eldritch Academy Study Group. She did not want to be late for the first meeting, so she remained where she was. She would need to hit the ground running, so to speak. She would be taking classes with older, smarter, and more experienced peers, so she needed any legitimate advantage she could get. Kaname was nervous but ready.
When the clock struck ten a short teenager walked into the library and over to the designated area for the Eldritch Academy Study Group. She had long brown hair and appeared... stunted. The half-ghost could not quite put her finger on it, but the girl looked shorter than she was supposed to be. That did not matter at the Academy. What mattered was physical and academic aptitude.
A dark-haired guy entered and introduced himself as Wani, Omatatsumi Wani. It was her turn to introduce herself. She would keep it short and simple.
"I'm Kaname Hayamoto." Kaname introduced herself to the group.

Well this was going to be fun.
With the school year fast approaching Kaiden knew he needed to get his act together and buckle down on his studies, even if it was still technically summer vacation. He was entering his freshman year of college, and from what he had heard, the professors were a lot more unforgiving than the teachers he had been so used to by this point. With that thought in mind, Kaiden figured attending a study group would be his best bet to get some study hours in. He couldn't work at his dorm because he always got so distracted by the mess... And the video games. The cafeteria was out of the question, WAYYYY too many people in there for his liking, nothing would get done if he went there. The Library was the safest choice, and luckily he had heard in passing that someone was hosting a study group this afternoon. Perfect. Exactly what he needed! There was only one problem though... He was running very late.
The man was running through the large courtyard, careful not to run into anyone on his way. His dumbass spent the entire night before playing video games, as a result he slept until 2 in the afternoon, and the group was scheduled to meet in only a few minutes! While normally he wouldn't care about his timing in events that weren't his mandatory classes, Kaiden was trying to be much more responsible this year, and knew there was a strong possibility that kids younger than him were going to show. He needed to set an example, right?
A few minutes into the study session, the blue haired boy burst into the library, carrying a stack of textbooks that almost fell from his hands when he ran through the door. He got quite a few angry looks from annoyed students and the librarian. He simply gave them a nervous chuckle, speed walking to the room. He opened the door and turned to greet everyone. "H- Hey guys! Name's Kaiden and I'm here to stud-" He was cut short however when he noticed a familiar face in the group. Lavender.
What was she doing here? "L- Lavender? Why are you in this study group? What do you have to study at your age?" He teased through a chuckle, but was still equally confused as to why his little sister had come here. Kaiden also braced for the response from his sibling. He knew it wouldn't be nice given the current circumstances of his entry. Kaiden also took time to notice the other few figures in the room. There was another young girl who he hadn't seen, but looked around his sister's age (maybe they were friends?). And another dark haired boy that Kaiden hadn't recognized.

A... Study group. The name was something Olivia was familiar with, but not all too happy to have going on inside the library. Yeah, sure, they were allowed to do such a thing. As well as reading the library was used to gather knowledge and share it with people who wanted their grades either to be higher or stay stable... But it didn't mean she had to like it. Being rather recluse in a lot of ways the ghost found comfort in the library. Not too many people came here on a regular basis, and the ones who did barely ever made a sound. If one were to drop a pin in here the whole room would hear it. But a group. A group of people coming together meant it was going to be rather noisy, especially for a library where it was common courtesy to be as quiet as you can. While the girl would have liked to reject Lavender's quest to hold a session here it wasn't really her final say in the matter. She was merely a small hurdle to the bigger person. Rejecting it wouldn't have gotten her far, so instead she hesitantly agreed on the one condition it wouldn't cause ruckus. ... And then they started coming in like bumbling buffoons and causing a ruckus.
A small sound of someone clearing their throat piped up from the table next to the group's, the ghost sitting in the seat closest to the edge. The rather large red book she was currently reading was opened in her hands, though she had placed a bookmark there a few seconds before she made the sound. Glaring pink eyes shot each one of the students a look, an expression of pure annoyance upon her ghostly white features. "Excuse me, some of us are trying to read." She would linger on Kaiden, the scowl on her face becoming more deep the longer she looked at the boy who had just come in last and caused the most amount of noise. "If you people cannot learn to keep your voices down i'm afraid you'll have to move this session somewhere else." Her voice came out like pure venom, unforgiving and sharp. But to her right now it was as if they were trying to get themselves in trouble or something.

Wani was part of the study group, but she wasn't too surprised seeing him around, while most athletics sometimes tended to be a bit shy of books, Wani seemed as competitive as she was. Failing something? Wouldn't be an option for the boy from what she had seen so far. "Please do not use any made up language in my presence I grew up with twins." and whelp, twins learning to speak was always an interesting experience. At points? She couldn't even understand them now, the two half aliens on a wave length of their own, but she could understand them well enough especially since she was there sister at the end of the day. She gave him a soft glare with her friendly smile, hearing the sharp foot steps that suggested someone else may be late, refraining from her lecture for the purpose of not giving it twice. Once her brother came running up, she figured no one else would have the gull to be late after Kaidens stunt, so it was time, sitting down smoothing her skirt nicely.
"Kaiden will you please, this is a library if you're going to drop things and act like you're playing a video game don't waste my time." she scoffed, glaring at him and scolding him for dropping the books and disturbing everyone else, her voice softly kept low as she could. "Also, being late is very rude, both of you, not only does it impend the study group but it interrupts, disturbs and inconveniences anyone else who happens to be using the library. In the future try to act like you have common respect for those around you!" her voice got more stern at the end, face marred with a serious frown before she slowly let it fade back to a smile and focused her gaze on Kaiden. "The founder of the study group should always be present at it, I'll be here every time big brother, I always have something to study to keep higher grades than you." she sounded good natured, as if it was friendly, but he was her brother and he'd know by now she meant it.
As the ghost intervened the young teenager stood up, walking over to her with an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry for them miss." she even gave a little apologetic bow, before returning to a friendly smile. "Do you normally read in the same space? If there is a collection of others who normally read in the same general space I can move the group elsewhere in the library to put the most distance between readers and studiers and thus keep the most silence for someone like you." she didn't like too much noise reading either, she could just do it because of Kaiden and the Twins.

Kaname was trying to interact with Lavender and the others in the study group when some female voice hissed at them and gave a not-so-friendly warning. Kaname frowned. It was not even a week and the upperclassmen were already throwing their weight around. What a drag. She was hoping that she could get through the first week without conflict.
Kaname's resolve to stand up for the group against the upperclassman wavered when she spotted what she was dealing with. The individual in question was a ghost. A female ghost, to be exact. She had pale skin and pink eyes that stood out. Kaname felt her irritation drain away... she was facing a full-fledged ghost.
The hybrid did not know what to say. She did not want to be shoved around by a Ghost with entitlement issues. On the other hand, she did not want to make enemies if it could be avoided. Ghosts could be dangerous enemies.
"Where else in the library is there for us to go?" Kaname asked the ghostly upperclassman.

Somewhere else to go? Olivia didn't think they exactly got what the problem was. It wasn't that they were here in the first place. This was a public place, after all. It's just that they were causing too much noise in a place where it was the main rule to keep quiet. Her annoyed pink eyes turned to the human who apologized for the rest of the students in her group. Apparently she was Lavender, the person who the ghost recognized as the girl who put in the request to have this session in the first place. Well, at least she was apologizing, that was one step in the right direction. Still, didn't make Liv forgive them less for disturbing her. Her gaze would flicker over to the ghost hybrid who inquired Lavender about their location. She recognized her as the girl in her homeroom who carried that sword with her. A strange one, she was. She seemed to be surrounding herself with equally strange people. "Your location is not the problem, this is a public space in a free country. You may be where ever it is you are allowed to be. I simply ask you abide by the library's rules and keep your voices down to a minimal level. There are many who are also studying, though do not wish to do so in a group like you. Please respect that and we will not have a problem." Hopefully they would heed her warning. This was not a day where she wanted to get her hands dirty.

Kaiden soon regretted opening his mouth in the first place, after the hard scolding from both his younger sister and another girl he didn't recognize, however she gave him a very creepy vibe. Even though she looked relatively normal, her pale skin and red eyes didn't sit too well with the young student. However his attention was shifted right back to Lavender when she continued to punish him for his actions. At this point the boy could only smile at what his younger sister was saying. "Higher grades then me? I don't expect learning shapes and colors is very challenging, but I guess if you need to study for them then you must be having trouble." Kaiden chuckled, making fun of her age in the process. It wasn't a very fair comparison he thought, she was 6 years younger than him after all, there was no way the stuff they were teaching her was more challenging than what he was going through. Especially when learning to master his Talent. The legendary Darksteel armor could be very uncooperative at times.
"Besides, nobody said you had to wait for my arrival to begin studying, shrimp. But now that I'm here, let's get to it!" Kaiden said with a smile, belittling his sibling as he walked past her, ruffling her hair in the process before plopping in an empty chair across from the ghost. Her glare made his smile fade into a nervous expression though, and he quickly switched eye contact to the other members of the group. He silently whistled to himself as he twiddled his thumbs while his sister, the ghost, and another girl conversed. He began to silently open one of his textbooks and careen through the pages, not really reading them. He was a picture kind of guy after all. It got him this far, didn't it?
Olivia might've caught Kaiden staring at her from time to time, but if she looked at him he would instantly turn away pretending to be reading his textbook. In truth Kaiden was trying to determine exactly what about this girl was so off putting to him. She wasn't very normal... Or at least by normal standards go. None of them were exactly regular joes either.

Wow, way to learn your place, Wani. That was what you got for coming late… he felt. Didn’t he, like, only come a few minutes late or- actually, he didn’t want to think about that. If there were events in the future where even a minute’s difference was crucial, he’d regret it for the rest of his life. Closed eyes and a small sweat pearl trickling down was his response to the sudden rebuke from Lavender and the white-haired lady whose name he had yet to know. “… Ok…” was his next response as he switched gaze between the ghost and the burdened girl with twin siblings… he should really be more forth with getting the names out of people. The white lily was probably too busy with her book. Maybe he should ask her later… he definitely should.
He remembered his assumptions about social competence; it was all random. He should just do his thing, and then events would arrive accordingly - that was his life up until now, after all. Unlike Kaiden, who really stood out at eyeing the pale girl from Wani’s angle, Wani immediately found a suitable seat and began… eyeing his notebook and almost floating pencil.
If he could write without lifting a finger, that’d just be great. He wouldn’t waver until that was under his mastery… but it was a long way to go. After a pearl of sweat trickled down, he simply grabbed his pencil with his hand and scanned his previous notes from previously…

Kaname sighed. The Ghost wanted to have her cake and eat it too. How were they supposed to communicate? Use sign language? This was why she did not care for upperclassmen.
The library was not for upperclassmen alone. It was for all the students. Sometimes students got loud. That was what teenagers tended to do when a group of them got together... they got loud and made more noise than they should. This was a school, not a monastery.
Kaname sighed. She really should not think that way. Olivia was just asserting her right to a quiet space. The hybrid had to calm down and think more rationally. She did not need to make enemies so early in the year.
"I can't make any promises, but we'll try and keep it down." Kaname said to the Ghost. That was all she could do. She could try and keep the noise down, but she could not control people's minds.

That crooked ass smile, hopefully the ghost would exact some sort of petty revenge on her brother eventually as she knew he would continue being some sort of nuisance he couldn't help it sometimes. Of course, she could cut him a break for having to deal with raising three girls, but she didn't even cut herself a break, why in the world should he get one. "Than you should have no problem studying this book, brother." her voice was snarky as she placed down an advanced geometry book in front of him. Sure, in the seventh grade she was not quiet to it yet, but he was in a higher grade. Yet, she didn't expect much he was more interested in video games than anything else, so he doubted he'd touched on anything not directly covered in classes as of the moment. If her showing him up a little or embarrassing him in public could be a motivator for him to do better and thus be more fun competition for her? His sister was completely game, it was far from the first time she had used such tactics.
Turning her focus towards the other two she smiled once more, slipping open a book on different species and placing it so the other two could read it too if they wished. "I figured this would be a good place as there are species and interspecies communication sort classes. I'm sorry if it seems weird, but I just don't know next to the first thing about very much outside of half aliens and humans." and she only knew about Half Aliens because her twin sisters happen to be such, through school before she was more focused with making friends than realizing what species they were or learning about it. Yet, as her world got more diverse, this was proving to be a disadvantage. All through speaking her voice was kept relatively soft, moving her chair beside the other two she could keep it lower. If the ghost had a problem after this? She was on her own, as she had pointed out herself, free public space.
Than her gaze flickered to her brother briefly, optics narrowing when she caught him staring at the upper class ghost. Discreetly her hand moved to pick up one of her erasers, holding it in her palm as she kept her attention divided between studying and seeing if she'd have to chuck it at Kaiden to make him respect the other girl.

Couldn't make any promises. Well, if Liv had to give this girl one thing it would be her honesty. Most people would agree blindly only to then break that promise mere seconds after, but she at least took the liberty in at least trying in case they couldn't whisper at the correct tone. She would have rather heard it from the group leader's mouth, the one who made this session possible in the first place, but apparently that was asking too much. ... The ghost would remember this for the next time she wanted to do another one of these little sessions. Somewhat content with the answer Olivia's gaze lingered upon the hybrid ghost curiously. Just from the aura she gave off alone it was pretty obvious she had not liked her intervening with her dominance. Well, there wasn't anything she could really do about it, seeing as how she had to enforce the same rules onto everyone otherwise it wouldn't be fair. But you couldn't please everyone with treating everyone equally. The girl had learned this the hard way. Finally giving the group a nod Olivia turned away and reopened her book, starting off on the last sentence she had completed.
... .... .....
But a certain someone's stare was fairly distracting. Feeling eyes boring into her Olivia's gaze flickered up from her book to the boy who had chosen his seat across from her. The brother of Lavender, she assumed from their friendly bickering. She didn't have siblings, so she wouldn't know. But just from knowing siblings alone this was usually the kind of behavior they showed. Either that or they were dating... But given the age gap that was pretty unsettling. She could have sworn he kept looking at her, but his face turned away every time she looked up to check. Flustered, the ghost's face burned a soft blue, trying amazingly hard to catch him in the act of staring at her from time to time only to no avail.

Kaname just let it go. She was never going to win against someone who was convinced of their own superiority. Fighting that battle was a waste of time and effort. Kaname would do what she could to keep the noise down, but if the ghost continued to be offended, she could move away any time she wanted. The world did not revolve around her and her wants.
"OK, what book are we going to study first?" Kaname asked Lavender, the sort-of leader of the group. The smaller girl had the unenviable task of herding cats in a library. Hopefully this venture would accomplish more than pissing off a ghostly upperclassman.

Kaiden's attention to the ghost was stolen when Lavender plopped a heavy book of geometry in front of him. He gave her a mixed expression of confusion and anger as she tried very hard to punish him simply for arriving late to her little tea party. Not that he would care very much for more than a few seconds. Despite what Lavender may have thought about Kaiden, there was a reason he had made it to his freshmen year of college, and that's because he knew his stuff both in and out of the class room. He looked down at the book for another moment before opening it and reading the contents. He chuckled and leaned back in his chair again, putting his hands behind his head. "This book all you got, sis? Piece of cake. I remember using the same textbook two years ago in my math class." Kaiden said. While that statement was indeed true, it came with one problem... That was two years ago. His memory wasn't THAT good. Of course he couldn't let Lavender have the satisfaction of knowing she stumped him.
Then there was another problem. Once things had settled Kaiden began to notice the girl across from him was taking note of his stares, as it seemed every time he pretended to look away from her she'd be looking straight at him with those creepy red eyes. He visibly got nervous as his foot tapped on the ground and he began to awkwardly whistle to himself as he looked through the pages of the nostalgic geometry book. That's when he noticed in the corner of his eye her face change slightly to a blue shade... Fuck. She was completely weird and now she hated him. How much longer did he have to live?
However, it didn't seem like the ghost was the only one to notice Kaiden's glances as he felt a hard rubber eraser hit is neck. He looked up to his sister who was sitting a few seats away from him and gave her a glare, lifting up the book so it was standing on the table, and moved it like a protective shield in front of his face from both his sister and the creep across the table who was now starting to catch onto his little game.
Kaiden heard the other white haired girl ask the group what they should start studying and he looked up past his shield for a moment at the others before shrugging. "I think we got math as a candidate. Advanced geometry to be specific" Kaiden said as he glanced at his sister with narrow eyes. However when he looked back at the others he simply coughed once before lowering his head back behind his textbook.
How long was this study group going to be...?
