welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Dressed in a green t-shirt with black gym shorts and white tennis shoes, Kaname stepped onto the walking track around mid-afternoon. She let the runners and joggers pass her by. She did not feel like running today. She liked to walk just to stay active and not sit around her dorm all day. Sitting around all day was not something she liked to do if she could avoid it.
Kaname let the wind blow through her short silver hair and listened to the sound of her feet hitting track. She walked along the track and watched as faster students raced by her. That was fine. She was in no hurry. Her only concern was being run over by the most zealous runners on the track.

A bird plummets from the sky.
Well, he isn't a bird so much as a bird-human, and he isn't a bird-human so much as a bloodied monstrosity vaguely shaped like a bird-human. Whatever he is, his body slams onto the gym track just a couple paces in front of Kaname with a dull thwack, a muffled groan somehow escaping his stitched-shut, bone-white beak. His sticky black feathers spasm as he coils into a fetal position.
A clearly demonic energy settles over him, consuming sunlight. Joggers on the track give him a wide berth.

Kaname was walking on the track when a bird-human thing plopped onto the track in front of her. Kaname paused. Where did it come from? More importantly, how did it get here? Besides by flying, of course.
The area around it began to turn dark as if it were absorbing sunlight. Other joggers and runners were scrambling to be anywhere but on the track. Kaname could not blame them. Still, someone had to do something. What if the newly arrived entity was not a threat, just really bad at communicating? "Hi there. Are you OK?" Kaname asked the newly arrived entity. She hoped that things would not get violent and she could talk to the entity without incident. If she could not deal with it, she could at least buy time until someone who could deal with it came along.

Sususmu had expected—indeed, hoped—that he'd be left well enough alone long enough for him to crawl into some bushes or whatever and lick his wounds. That's the most he can ask for; people these days are more open-minded, but both pure-blooded and hybrid demons continue to face universal scorn (perhaps for good reason). It's not uncommon for people to have violent reactions to his presence. Sususmu's getting real tired of having goodie two-shoes stomp all over him when he isn't in the condition to fight back, despite that they'd be running away screaming from him if he were in perfect health.
Someone stoops by his side. Dread pools in the pit of his stomach.
"Dun' touch me," Sususmu mumbles with an ineffectual flash of his talons, despite that the stranger hadn't attempted to do so. He angles his up to get a better look and—oh, great. A human.
Somehow a sneer manages to straggle across his beak. "Got some nerve actin' nice. Here to kick the demon scum while 'e's down, aren'cha? Go on then, go ahead."
He's bleeding so profusely that he's practically swimming in it. Joggers are giving both of them weird looks as they pass by.

"Whoa, easy there. I'm not here to kick you while you're down." Kaname assured the strange fellow. He was a guy, wasn't he? His voice was deep enough to pass for a male's voice. Other people were giving them weird looks, but she did not care. People like the bird-human needed someone to watch out for them too.
"I don't care what you are. That fall you took was pretty rough. Are you sure you're OK?" Kaname asked him, being sure to keep a respectful distance from him. He seemed to be distrustful of people. That was understandable. He had taken a rough fall and had landed in a strange place. He mentioned that he was a demon, and from what she had heard they were not treated very well by most people. He was clearly expecting more of the same from Kaname and the other people on the track.

Doesn't care who he is? That's a first. Sususmu eyes the girl (who looks to be around his age, he finally realizes) with intense suspicion, sizing her up. He's gotten pretty good at reading human faces these days, so he's surprised to see a frankness in her expression. Is she just naive...? No, she can't be that stupid. His cynicism returns in full force: maybe she's just patting herself on the back for extending a helping hand to the downtrodden. What a good Samaritan.
"Whatever," Sususmu says, lurching into an upright sitting position. For a moment he sways as if about to topple once more, but he regains his balance. "Look, I dunno what yer tryna get outta helping me, not that I need help or anything, but it's prolly not doing ya any good. People won't think yer a good person for helping me. People'll think yer a demon sympathizer." And who would want that kind of reputation?
(ooc: does kaname have her katana with her right now?)

Kaname could tell that the bird-human did not trust her. He thought that she was putting on a show. She was only helping him in an effort to shore up her own flagging popularity by trying to reverse her image as a sword-carrying nutcase waiting to snap. That was likely what he was thinking. It was also wrong.
"So you're a demon?" Kaname asked him. It did not change a whole lot. Someone in need was someone in need. She was already on the outs with most of the school. It was not like her popularity could sink too much lower.
"If you don't want me to help you... maybe I can get the nurse for you." Kaname suggested. If she did leave, chances were that bigots hiding in the student body would take the chance to literally kick him while he was down.
(OOC: Her katana is in her room ATM.)

"Whatever he is doesn't really matter that much." she had half aliens for sister's and never once questioned it, knew little about other species expect for that they were other people she could interact with. Lavender was jogging on the track but she broke from the group when they came back around, long hair swaying behind her as she walked up. "Get your head back on straight, demon or not makes no different in someone wanting to help when they see someone else who needs it." she was young, only about 13 at most and her bright blue eyes showed she really believed every idealistic world out of her mouth, didn't know that reality could sometimes be harsher. The shocking part of this, was that she appeared to be just human, one of the species that should fear others more considering their psychical disadvantages compared to most species. For whatever reason she clearly didn't give a damn that he was demonic, inserting herself into the situation without worry. "Not everyone wants something from someone or from doing something for someone." her eyes rolled slightly as she laughed and looked at Kana briefly with her gentle smile. Hopefully he'd warm up, even with her sports experience she didn't know if she'd be a deterrent to someone picking on him, if he wasn't just crazy. "If the two of us work together we can definitely get you to the nurses office, so just let us help alright?" hopefully, he'd know they were his best bet if he truly believed someone was going to kick him while down.

Sususmu very much does not want the nurse to help him (especially if said nurse uses a light-based healing magic, which would harm him more than heal him), but before he can say as much yet another human jumps into the scene, as if one wasn't bad enough. This one looks to be a little younger than the other girl, and yet there's no fear and disgust in her eyes, only a similar openness. What's with these people? They're humans, aren't they? And humans are never good news.
He wants to pull away again, wants to say something nasty enough for them to leave him alone, but then he becomes aware of all the stares this little group's attracting from passerby. The more people get involved, the greater the chances are that someone with less than good intentions will come along and misinterpret the situation. He doesn't like it, but it's better for him to quit while he's ahead.
"Alright, fine," Sususmu mumbles, attempting to straggle onto his feet. "If it'll get ya to shut up-"
A sharp pain in his skull causes his to stumble. He must've hit his head pretty hard.
(ooc: cool, just making sure.)

"OK." Kaname said to the bird-human. She did not care if the student body branded her a demon sympathizer for helping the guy. She would deal with the consequences later. The guy looked like he was about to pass to the next world. Kaname would not stand there and watch him bleed to death.
How could the other students sit there and watch him bleed out without at least offering to help? She recalled something her father talked about called "Bystander's syndrome." He said that large groups of people tended to diffuse the responsibility for taking action during an emergency. People often said that they did not take action because they assumed that someone else would.
Had Kaname made a mistake in helping the guy? That remained to be seen. She could take comfort in knowing that he did not bleed to death while she stood around twiddling her thumbs and waiting for someone else to save the person's life.
"So, do you want to get the nurse or should I?" Kaname asked Lavender.

At a diverse school there should be knowledgeable enough for the nurses to be able to handle any species, at least that was the way her brain worked. How could someone be stupid enough to have a large school like this and not have the proper resources in that manner? She couldn't see it. "If you get under one arm to just help him move I should be strong enough to support him, I do practice almost every sport in the book after-all" she could lift a good deal even if she didn't look ripped the girl had more lean muscle than anyone could see with her uniform on. With that she would move to help support him, and if Kana did the same start the trip to the nurses office. "Encase anyone less than savory is around I don't want to leave him with just one of us, he's safer with both of us."taking chances when someone was injured certainly was not the young girls style.

"All right, Lavender. I'm game." Kaname said to the smaller girl. She had a take-charge attitude that was uncommon for her age. Most people would not take orders from someone lower in grade than they were. However, when someone's life was at stake, pride was not an issue for Kaname.
"OK, we're gonna take you to get help." Kaname said while approaching the bird-human in order to put their plan into action. Hopefully he would not object to their plan. With the blood loss he had suffered, she doubted that he would object too strenuously.
