welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

the feeling of the forest around miruku set chills down his spine as his paws pressed against the forest leaves. ever so slightly he took his steps, as to not make a crunch sound in the nature sounding trees. the songs of the warblers and swallows seemed to merge into one chorus. if one were to listen closely, you could hear the trees shifting in the wind, adding to the harmonious melody. miruku was on a mission, that mission was to find his breakfast. searching far and wide for his lovely witch that had bestowed upon him the power of intelligence was always taking a toll on his body. the distant sound of a bell broke through the sounds of nature, doing what they did best. it let miruku know that it had just hit noon, and it was officially time for miruku to eat his lunch. lifting his very pristine nose he took a sniff, seeing what was nearby for him to munch on. a drool-occurring scent hit his nose and his head instantly dropped. his eyes zoning in on the area that the smell came from. about thirty yards off? miruku's paws began to move. his doubled senses taking sight of his victim instantly. his snowy white pelt not doing much for him in the realm of the forest. rather than being one-hundred percent stealthy I ought to focus on my speed... it was something that miruku had been working on quite often. his pelt never did him justice while hunting, and rather than relying on his human shapeshifted form to just purchase food, miruku loved the feeling of letting loose during a hunt. his paws moved swiftly without making a sound. within close enough distance, making sure he was downwind, miruku checked his prey once more. it was a tapeti, rather medium in size... enough to fill miruku up till dinner. licking his muzzle-born lips, miruku began to make a move. all that could be seen was a flash of white and a squeal of the rabbit as it realized what was happening. the large bounds that the rabbit began to make, were rather fast for a rabbit. miruku began his chase, his paws moving twice as fast as before until at last his jaws tightened around the tapeti's neck. the snap sounded in the clearing. the only sound following after miruku had began his hunt apart from the rustle of the students nearby (as miruku was rather close to the school) were the trees shifting in the wind. the birds had taken off rather quickly after miruku had made a move.
lifting his muzzle into the air, he thanked the gods for his meal before he dug in. just as he took his fifth bite, his ears perked. a wolf had made an appearance, miruku's eyes narrowed as he barred his teeth. his low hostile yelps being directed towards the wolf. in return, the wolf pinned his ears back, and let out a low growl. miruku spread his legs, as he made himself appear bigger. the wolf , not taking to the threat began to sway his tail back and forth before it made a move. the leap that the wolf took towards miruku made miruku leap out of the way. the fight was on. miruku bushed his tail and attacked back, nipping the wolf's legs before the wolf pawed miruku away from him. teeth clashed against fur as they fought, miruku was no match for the wolf in the moment. his void talents were all but unusable as he had not been in his mistress' presence for over eighteen years. the wolf picked miruku up by his scruff, a loud cry of alarm left miruku's throat as he called for help. surely someone will hear me? miruku felt his body being thrown around as the wolf tossed miruku from side to side until chucking him across the way. his back, hit a tree and he fell to the forest floor. his eyes were open for nearly enough to see the wolf eat the rabbit and leave the clearing.
the pitch black was all that miruku noticed as he fell into a slumber, his beautiful white pelt, all matted and bloodied by the fight with the wolf.

[attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words [attr="class","gold"]notes ulla [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see Why….?
Despite the beauty being presented around her, soft echoing chirps from the birds flying overhead to the faint whistling of the leaves as a passing breeze blew by. Did her sense of ease refused to lay still and instead the unsettled nerves of unease grip at her spine, forcing the petite child to cast a wary eye over her surroundings.
Surroundings in which she was using as a means to bid her time from returning to her dorm room knowing the… C-Cat. No C-word was there resting with nary a care to notice the girl who was not at all happy with his presence in her space. The girl fumed in thought. Taking her chances to calm down by inhaling a deep gulp of air and then right before she could release, the loud cry broke her peace, scaring away the two hummingbirds drilling a hole on a large spruce near her right.
The cry even caused her to cry out a surprise yelp as she turned her neck from left to right trying to locate the noise. Someone needed help? But really what can a girl like her do when she’s supposed and actually is just as defenceless in terms of fighting but hey, what she cant beat using brute strength there’s a thing called tactics she can always use.
And if shit does hit the fan she can use ‘it’. A proverbial sigh slid out of her slips when she realized how her own conscience egged her to follow the sound it took awhile to trail after the loud cry. It sounded near but in reality still took time to track down where its echoes originated from. By that time the small corpse of the unfortunate rabbit was near if not fully devoured by the beast who was now looking at the downed fox as a second course that’s of course when she stumbled into the scene.
Wolf… why must it be a puppy!? The girl gave another long-suffering sigh in response. Why must her own senses as a dog lover be tested like this?! She internally groused. But still managed to retain a semblance of her calm as she dug around the small messenger bag she had with her. “let see…” She mumbled, an idea coming to mind thanks in no part to the rather failed experimental potion she unwittingly failed to salvage during her own self studies in alchemy. Well mistakes happens, and this stinker of a potion might have an actual use after all. Without much of a hesitation, she threw the concoction over to the feral looking predator. Glass broke at its feet as the bottle landed, crashing and in turn breaking the fragile glass bottle into a million shards but that wasn’t all, the after effects of the glass breaking was the noxious, if not stomach turning stench it unleashed. A kin to the stench of barrels filled with rotten fish meat being preserved and left to rot in only water for years on end.
Kurenai defended herself from the smell by using her scented handkerchief as a face mask. Scented with a mild sakura fragrance from her favourite perfumes she waited until the creature couldn’t bear the offending assault to its senses and fled before she approached the mangled form of the downed fox. “Poor thing… might as well bury you to keep the rest of the wild life from scavenging your poor corpse…” She softly muttered, staring in pity at the wounded creature she thought off as dead. Just as she was about to bend over and examine the creature. Her eyes widened in surprise when its chest rose weakly. Alive…. The creature was alive, oh dear. Though it didn’t seem like it was going to last for long if she didn’t intervene. Without thinking further she took off her cardigan and carefully wrapped it around the poor creature’s body before carrying it gently back to the dormitories.
Time was of the essence, the quicker she got back the better it was for the wounded creature which is what she did exactly. She made no stops until she got into the familiar sakura scented room she shared with... She dared not tip her thoughts over to that subject of her roommate least she murder the rest of her focus she needed to help the wounded creature. Bandages, then some cleaning solution. By the gods Kurenai sighed in relief for once thankful for the impromptu lecture her godfather gave her in first aid. The knowledge now being applied directly to an animal instead of a human. Which...was a good right? She didnt have to worry about being the cause of someone's death. Well not really the fox in her care still counted as a living being. A living being that was half dead... but animals were animals. Another sigh left her lips when she did the final knot to the bandages surrounding the creature's worse wounds and she was done. He was all bandaged up and resting within the random box she found. Nestled with the blankets she found within her closets. Now its a game of wait and see if the fox will pull through.

black walls were surrounding miruku, his body drained.. unable to move. 'where am i?' the thoughts filled miruku's body as he tried to figure it out. oblivious to what had occurred, his memory seemed to be nonexistent. his paws were unmoving, he couldn't even see his paws with how dark his surroundings were. all of a sudden, miruku felt a powerful essence around him. the darkness became filled with the most horrid scent, one that gave the poor familiar a terrible headache. just as the smell had come, it was gone as a shock went through his body. his muscles warmed up as if someone were cradling him. yet with the feeling of being held, came the memories flashing forward of his companion, khyra. he had been but a lone fox, having lost his mother recently due to a badger attack when he had been found by the witch. her aura nothing but honey-coated negativity, and as he watched her he had grown attached. all at once, she had seemed to notice him, and as she touched him for the first time, he accepted her. that was the point in time that miruku had gained his intelligence, no longer being a plain fox, but the familiar that he is today. the adventures he served with his mistress continued to flash before him, the darkness was gone.
suddenly, the scent of sakura filled his nose, and he felt at home. time seemed to take turns, slowing down and speeding up. the presence of comfort came and went as well. (as kurenai leaves, time slows, when she is back in the room time flies by...) this could only be described as days and nights flying by. miruku's strength slowly yet surely came back to him...
feeling fully strengthened, miruku saw a small light in the corner of his eye. turning, he viewed it full vision. it was a room, and from afar he could see his own body in a box. an out of world-feeling, seeing yourself in the third person. miruku walked towards it till he was in the room. suddenly, his body jerked and his real eyes opened. the "dream world" faded away as miruku grew accustomed to the room he was in. his body was in the random box, with blankets underneath his body. he sat up, and looked around.
the figure he saw was a rather cute female, her aura very similar to khyra's. his heart leapt with joy, as he realized that she was the new soul that khyra had possessed. my mistress... at last... miruku stood to his paws, "khyra?"his voice shook. tears welled up inside him and so he leapt out of the box, midair he shifted. his human body coming forth. his white fur, turning to blonde locks atop a blue-haired boy. a pair of ears were atop his head, soft much like the fur he had while in his true form. his unawareness to the naked body being on display for all eyes to see.

[attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words [attr="class","gold"]notes ulla [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see That feeling when she wanted to do more but cant since she did all she could. Nai was having that very corundum of thoughts tracing along her silent thoughts. Once left to her own devices without the full defence of her work occupying her mind. Giving her a sense of distraction, she craved to pacify the need of her mind to be always on the move. To be busy rather than stew at the noise chirping around her head from unspoken ideas, reminders of random subjects she made notes to research on another date. But nothing, I repeat nothing in her usually work load helped distract her mind from wandering right back to the subject at hand. The fox currently recovering inside her room.
The albino’s light lavender gaze found itself travelling to the aforementioned subject from her current tome she was perusing for an upcoming paper about herbal remedies and the properties certain plants have within the medicinal spectrum. A few times her thoughts went to how she could add it to help the healing creature but then… the more logical part, decided to add its own two cents by reminding her how it was the fox’s own job now whether he would live or die or follow the cycle all life swore by.
How… undeniably vexing… to be forced to wait by the side lines.
On the plus side, taking care of the tiny creature gave her the necessary break she needed from planting her face on the nearest book she can grab on. “Well little kit… I’m certain my worries are all for nothing…” She softly whispered. The albino girl’s delicate hand toyed with the soft now semi clean white coat the fluffy creature had before she pulled herself right off her knees and back on her own feet to work once more in preparing her lunch for the day. She still had a few hours or so before she needed to leave for her first lecture of the day.
Lucky for the girl today seemed to be one of those days where classes were going to a snail’s pace with only two lectures scheduled for the day. Just wait, until she feels like the overachieving child that she is and she starts looking for ways to increase her number. Tao often told her, how she was a born workaholic. Lately…she hasn’t bothered denying what she knew by now is Tao’s blunt view. If he thinks that way then…why bother?
“Khyra?....”
Kurenai froze in her tracks.
Yea freeze seems to be a good word to say about how the girl’s body stiffened on command. A voice? In a room she knew she was damn well alone. In that instant the girl whirled from left to right trying to locate the source of the voice. But nothing.
Nothing except….
For the blue eyes staring back at her from the now awake fox. No that couldn’t be? Silly Nai, forest creatures don’t speak people unless of course…
CREAAAAAAAAAKKKK
Went her mind, if you listened closely you’ll hear the gears slowly turning as the shock froze every bolt before another smaller version of her ran in carrying a bucket of boiling water. In one quick momentum doused the wheels with the boiling liquid to cure the ice clinging around it.
The fox…spoke?
And it spoke again this time causing Nai to question whether she was dreaming one hell of a crazy dream induced by cold tea. Of course! she couldn’t believe it! Let’s ignore the other points of her being around shifters and how this fox could easily be one of them….
LET HER IGNORE IT.
Maybe she’ll be able to justify the shock cursing through her body.
“Uhm…” The awkward albino reluctantly found her voice. “Excuse but what?....” Reluctantly and then confusing followed right after the fox called her by another name? Perhaps it owner? Or a friend of his he mistook her for? She clearly didn’t know this.. ‘Khyra’ person but the name… She felt something from it but at the same time couldn’t connect it with anything she knew. Think of a puzzle with a piece she knew she had turns out to be the piece a dog of hers accidentally ate. Just about summarize how she felt about the entire name. Now if she thought the guy was done giving her heart attacks…
No…he wasn’t, he’s about to prove to her he intended to give her an aneurysm by jumping out of his crate and mid-air physically shifting into a human body. A young male with golden curls around his head. Whats more… is his complete, and utter lack of clothing… Hear that?
That’s the sound of her head just… internally going on a meltdown.
Tick…
“……………..”
Tick……
“…………………………………”
TICK.
Three seconds. THREE OF THE MOST awkward seconds of her life before the shock forced the girl to screak out in surprise and in her bid for modesty tossed her blanket towards the naked male. “W-What, just what!? Actually clothes! Please get clothes!” The girl squeaked, her face flushed red as she turned away quickly.

with the blanket tosses at miruku's general direction, he failed to catch it as it stuck to his face,. "ahh... sorry about that." taking the blanket off his face, he dropped it to the floor. as if on cue, miruku created human clothes to wrap around his body. he had been watching the girl as he referred to her as khyra. she had seemed unresponsive, which dropped his esteem considerably. sucking in a deep breath, he bowed to the girl, "i apologize if i scared you. uhm, i am miruku.." his blue gaze awaited for what the girl's face would do. khyra was the one who named me, if khyra is inside of her somewhere, then she ought to recognize it somehow...
miruku wanted his mistress back, his fingers twitched as his unease continued to waft through him. i want her back... just as he thought that if khyra was in her, miruku's thoughts led him back to a time that his mistress had talked to him. the night was full of clouds and you couldn't really see any of the stars. it was then that his mistress told him about the fact that each host she lived in never lived for long and that when they died she simply entered a new host. miruku was zapped back into the present as he thought of the fact that sometimes the two souls would fight, and how the human soul could be completely ignorant to the witch's soul.
if that was the case, miruku would have to work hard to figure out a way for khyra to return to him. meanwhile, he should grow closer to whoever the human soul was. "er, sorry about all this. what is your name?" miruku could not help but suspect that the girl preferred him in his familiar form. "i am a witch's familiar. perhaps, you wish i be in my true form? my fox?" his uncertainty laced his voice as one hand reached to his hair. his fingers playing with it nervously.

[attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]words [attr="class","gold"]notes ulla [attr="class","sun"]A Foreign Sun * I never thought I'd see Pride? What’s pride again? Seems like today is just one of those days where the world itself wants to take a gander and smack her poor innocent pride around. Poor thing, it was simply minding its own business now it was at risk at being turned into another one of the bored deities personal chew toys. Really… Today was just one of those days.
Kurenai mulled over a careful reply to the boy in front of her. She could say formerly naked right? Because by all rights if he hadn’t called upon his robes she might as well call him naked. But like as magical as he turned from fox to human, he willed clothes to appear and cover his naked skin. That… right there should be known as magic if… she wasn’t already used to the damn idea of how the world nowadays is hellbent in breaking every laws of physics the universe held since time could remember.
Which… was pretty long, still did it stop this world’s inhabitants? The answer didn’t need to be spoken out, when in fact it was glaring right up front in bold colours. “You didn’t scare me… startled yes…” She paused, warily picking the words to follow her statement until she settled with the following. “A nice warning would have been nice.” She gently intoned. The well mannered mask that managed to slip a few inches was firmly back in place to hide the girl’s minor slip of manners. “So… do I look like this friend of yours?... I’m really sorry but that’s the first time I’ve heard of that… name.” She frowned. Brows slightly furrowing together in deep thought. Scrunching her eyelids tight in minor frustration. The name…
As damned as she’s to admit it. There’s a thing about the boy’s given name that… resonated but at the same time didn’t. It was confusing her, the answers she wanted felt like it’s there standing at the tip of her tongue but by some frustrating force remained unreachable to the albino maiden.
“Miruku… its derived from ‘child of the forest’ am I correct?” She shook her head, the soft delicate quirk of her lips offered an apologetic smile. She kept her thoughts along with the frustrating sense of familiarity behind a thick mask, hiding the rest of her confusion for the odd sensation plaguing her mind.
“And no, its fine! Really stay in which form you wish.” She answered in regards to his offer of him turning back. Well it’s too late for it anyway. She knew she could shift into human now, so why not just let him stay as one for the time being. Plus it gave her an extra form of assurance she wont be seeing him in his birthday again.
“Witch’s familiar? Cant say I’ve heard of them…” Kurenai apologetically said. Turning a small apologetic smile at him in silent apology. “But where’s your partner then?... is she in the school as well?” She furthered her question now wondering if the boy was indeed with someone within the academy. “O-Oh where’s my manners. I’m Shimazu Kurenai, it’s a pleasure to meet your acquaintance.”
