welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Esialeth found herself in a room achingly bare of any decoration. Further inspection revealed that the room was at least decently sized, and the four-poster beds were perfect for hanging light curtains around. Eager to mold the place to her liking, she began to unpack. First came the heaviest bag, full of the books she'd collected over the years, which she arranged neatly underneath her bed. Next came the bedding: white cotton sheet and a weight-enchanted blanket. A cute pillow. She hurriedly unpacked her clothes (there were a lot of them) and hung them in the closet. Finally, she threw open the huge window and set her tiny pot of daffofils on the sill. Done.
Feeling a bit like Cinderella, Esialeth waited for her heartbeat to slow down and wondered about her roommate. She was hardly unfamiliar with the campus, but it was her first time living in the dorms. She only moved here for Tia, after all. She remembered her experience filling out the forms, simply checking "random" to avoid more paperwork. How ill-advised. Shaking her head, Esialeth got out the pastry bag from earlier and got out two cupcakes: strawberry for her and vanilla for her elusive roommate.
She looked around. Her roommate had yet to arrive, the mahagony desk beckoned just so, and she had yet to put the finishing touches on her necklace commission...so she got out her last bag, a backpack with fraying side-strings and odd burnt marks. Her tools. Countless variations of pliers, small crystals, a couple welders soon found themselves scattered on her pristine mahagony desk. Oh, well. She could fix it later...once she found the wire cutters...

The dormkeepers of the faculty had finally granted the blonde her simple request-- a room with more space. She had been informed that she would be stuck with a roommate, but surely that would not be too much of a problem. Most roommates were gone, at classes or parties most of the time. Other were generally quiet or kept to their own side of the dorm. If this new roommate was not, and preferred to be loud and make a mess of things, Inglisse was certain she could find a remedy for it. She could not promise the most humane remedy, but she would solve the problem nevertheless.
She had her belongings and bedding transported to the room almost magically, by use of some eldritch technology. Unfortunately, she would still have to unpack by herself, without the help of any handy tools. Upon arrival to the room colored in shades of green, Inglisse spotted the silver haired and amber eyed girl at a lovely mahogany desk. Smiling warmly, the girl made her way over to the other student, eyeing the tools curiously. Did this girl enjoy some sort of crafting or fixing of objects? If so, they might just get along fine. Inglisse herself was an inventor and scientist of sorts. She enjoyed picking things apart and putting them back together.
“Good afternoon,” the platinum blonde greeted, hands folded comfortably behind her back. The girl wore a humble fur-lined hoodie with skinny jeans, a black shirt, and boots. On her shoulders sat a little floral creature with tiny paws, birdlike wings, and a rosebud for a head. It seemingly ‘stared’ at Inglisse’s new roommate in silence.

[googlefont=Meddon] Esialeth Rose U pon seeing her new roommate, Esialeth suddenly felt very, very old. The gap between their ages could hardly have been more than half a decade, but the contrast even in their appearances alluded to their extreme differences.
Platinum blonde hair, painfully tight jeans, stylish boots; by all accounts, youthful. Esialeth resisted the urge to sigh in dismay when she realized that her altered court gown and silver-white hair would make her look like she walked out of a centuries-old monarchy.
Esialeth deftly avoided eye contact with her roommate; she feared that if their gazes were to lock, she would lose her nerve and jump out the window. Again. Instead, she examined the strange creature perched on the girl's shoulder, but avoided extending her magic and sensing it for herself. This was a discussion, not an interrogation.
"Hello. My name is Esialeth Rose. It's a bit of a mouthful, so some people prefer to call me by my last name, but I don't particularly, uh, care. It's nice to meet you," Esialeth gave her what she hoped was a warm smile.
"The vanilla is for you, if you want it..." she drifted off, twisting the last wire in place, then refocused on the conversation. "And, if it's not presumptuous to ask, I'm quite taken with your pet. What...is it, exactly?" ✿

“It’s nice to meet you too, Esialeth,” the girl repeated, getting used to the name and sound of the unique name on her tongue. “Quite the elegant name. Does it have a particular meaning?” she asked politely, warm smile still on her face.
The girl offered her the vanilla cupcake. Quite the kind person, having some basic manners despite being seemingly shy, judging by her body language and words. This certainly would be interesting, but so far Inglisse did not feel this would be a roommate she had to remedy. “Thank you,” the blonde hummed happily at the offer of the cupcake. “My name is Inglisse Carroll, by the way, but most people call me Lissy. It’s a pleasure~”
The silver-haired woman then focused her attention on the little creature perched on her shoulder. So, her new roommate took a fancy to the tiny being, did she? Well, she might as well not lie about its origins. After all, the reaction was certainly entertaining in most individuals. “This is not a pet, per say, but more a creation. An experiment of sorts. Its name is Mister Peckings. It's a rosebud given a dove’s wings and kitten paws, all tied together with the soul of a mulberry plant, but I’m not sure how long it will last. So far, it has trouble flying, but that soon shall be corrected,” Inglisse explained eagerly, visibly quite proud of her work.

[googlefont=Meddon] Esialeth Rose A feeling of dread washed over her, almost like someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over her head. She sniffed, drawing upon years of court frostiness. "I cannot say I am overly fond of biological experiments," said she, speaking with the elegance and poise of a noble. "Are the subjects not in pain?"
She cleared her throat delicately before continuing. "Moreover, my name does not have a particular meaning, although it is nice to hear that it is appreciated." More like she didn't want to tell her what it actually meant. But such details could come later; Esialeth felt no need to spill her life story to someone who was essentially a stranger.
"What year are you in, then?" she said, if only to avoid tension. "You are in college, are you not?" ✿

“This one wasn’t in pain,” Inglisse confirmed, eyeing the subtle signs of discomfort in the silver-haired girl. She was not too surprised; many jumped to the conclusion that such experiments could be cruel and inhumane, or at least a touchy subject. While the girl could not confirm that some of her subjects went without pain, she could at least testify that the mulberry soul holder experienced no pain, nor did any of its components.
The platinum blonde gave a nod in response to the girl’s further statements. “I’m a sophomore in college. Second year,” Inglisse responded. “And how about you? What is your intended major, if you are a college student?”

[googlefont=Meddon] Esialeth Rose E sialeth could have sighed in relief. Moving out of a room immediately after settling in involved so much paperwork, which she, like many others, heartily detested.
"Well, that does me at ease. Anyway, I'm not really a student anymore. The school allows me to conduct my research and run my own lab, and somtimes I take classes for fun. I do feel a little old sometimes, though."
"I'm going to my lab-office thing in a couple days. The school loves throwing money at my work and not me, so I have a lot of resources at my disposal. You could join me, if you're interested," she said, banking on Inglisse's perceived interest in experimentation. "Do contact me if you've got any burning questions that you want to discuss, because I'm absolutely aching for some proper discourse—oh! That reminds me. We should probably exchange numbers."
Very smooth, she thinks. At least I'm genuine.
Esialeth barely resists smacking her forehead. ✿
