welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Ryse Azar fumbled with the door handle, her arms full as she was holding a doll house. Finally, she succeeded in turning the knob, and pushed open the door. Her room had already been decorated for Christmas; some lights had been set up around the room, a wreath hung on the inside of her door, and she'd even decorated a small tree with a few ornaments and lights. Some candles had been placed around the room, the small flames helping to illuminating the space along with the lights set up. She and her mother celebrated Christmas every year, and while this year she wouldn't be with her mother, she still wanted to get her something nice. Which is where the doll house came in.
The house was made of a rich golden brown oak wood, polished until it almost gleamed. The roof was painted a dark green, as was the door, and the trimming on the windows. Everything had been detailed carefully with gold designs all along the edges of the sides, the roof, and the windows. The entire thing had been hand made and hand painted, even the furniture inside. According to the store owner she'd bought it from, it was an antique. While Ryse wasn't sure if this was true or not, it seemed too new to be an antique, it definitely seemed to be expertly made.
Her mother loved to collect handmade things, and even made her own things if she couldn't afford to buy them, and was quite good at it. The cherry wooden charm of Vissarion she always kept with her was evidence of that. Even after all these years, it hadn't rotted or worn down. The detail was as grand as the first day her mother had made it.
Shutting the bedroom door behind her, Ryse set the doll house carefully on her bed. As she did so, her mind wandered to the interaction she'd had with Oras, the Atronach. Her small smile faded into a frown, and the candles dimmed in response to her dampened mood. Along with wanting to buy a nice gift for her mother, she had needed to get her mind off of what had happened in the courtyard between them. Oras had mocked her repeatedly, and humiliated her in front of a student. Luckily, nobody else had witnessed the event, and the random student who'd seen her didn't know the giant creature they had seen was her, so she was sure she didn't need to worry about anybody blabbing about what she was. Hopefully, anyways.
She shoved the memories to the back of her mind, the candles flaring back to the same brightness they were before. What had happened, happened. She couldn't change that. All she could do was focus on the present, here and now. And what she was doing right now, was wrapping a Christmas present for her mother.
Walking over to the closet, she pulled out some colorful wrapping paper, tape, and a pair of scissors, and began to measure out how much she would need to wrap the doll house.

As the candles flickered just outside the dollhouse something small began to stir inside. From where the girl was standing now it would be completely unnoticeable as a small figure, approximately three inches in height, groggily rolled out of a pink bed in the upper right hand corner of the house. As his senses returned to him he slowly began to feel around his general vicinity until his hand finally found what it was looking for. His left hand glided over the cold silver of his prosthetic arm that he had left on the bedside table before he had gone to sleep. As he reattached his silver arm the blurriness began to leave his vision he began to take in the environment around him.
The doll house truly was designed by an expert craftsman with a true passion for their craft as from Nuada's perspective it was almost impossible to tell that he wasn't in a real house. The furniture throughout the bedroom was all decorated with intricate and beautiful designs. Even the bed he had been sleeping on before had covered with what seemed to have been fur blankets. The fairy truly had to marvel out how much effort the builder had put into this masterpiece. If he could enchant the building so that it had electricity and a water system he would never have any reason to leave. Before he could put any more effort into that, however, he had to figure out where he was and why he had just seen the lights flicker outside.
Moving towards the window he looked outside and finally came to realize what a mess of a situation he had gotten himself into. He had originally climbed into the doll house while trying to return to the city after heading home to the forest for a weekend. At the time he had thought it had been a great idea. He'd have a little house to stay in, no travel fees, and he could just sleep the whole journey. Unfortunately it seemed he had made a major miscalculation. He had slept through the journey and had stayed asleep long enough that the house he had taken residence in had been bought. He had no idea who this girl was or even where he was though it did kind of look like a dorm room. Was the girl in front of him just another student at the academy? There was no way of being certain but for now he had to try to think of a plan.
He could try to sneak out of the room but if he somehow got caught he'd get accused of breaking in. He didn't want to startle the girl in fear that she might panic or even worse mistake him for an insect and swat him. Collecting himself he did what seemed like the most logical thing at the time and walked down the stairs towards the front door of the building. As he traveled through the building he took notice of the rest of the great detail that had been put into it as he tried to compose himself before reaching the green door. Than with a small knock and a short pause he opened the door and began to speak.
"Hello there! It seems I had a bit of a mix up when at the store and I ended up here by accident. Sorry for the inconvenience but could you tell me where I am exactly?"
The fairy had a friendly smile spread across his face as he spoke trying to be as non threatening as possible though. He paused for a moment after finishing his sentence before a look of realization rapidly spread across his face.
"Oh! I'm terribly sorry I almost forgot! The name's Nuada. Nuada Tine. It's a pleasure to meet you!"

Ryse might have been focused on measuring out the length of wrapping paper, but that didn't mean she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings. Besides, her hearing was pretty good, considering she was part Grim. Therefore, as she was cutting the paper, something that would've been impossible in her original form - it was kinda hard to hold things when she only had paws and talons instead of hands - she paused as she heard a slight knocking. Frowning in confusion, she turned her head in time to see the small green door to the doll house opening, and a small creature walking out of the house.
'........What the-?'
Had she accidentally bought an enchanted doll house? It was quite possible, considering the magic and magical items were quite common, but she'd thought the store owner would've told her if the house had any sort of magical properties to it.
The teenager blinked at the tiny creature, tilting her head slightly. She wasn't scared; she saw no reason to be afraid of a creature that was three inches tall. Instead she was intrigued. She stood up, leaving the scissors on the ground beside the wrapping paper, and walked over to her bed. She stopped in front of her bed and knelt so she could see the creature better. It was a strange creature indeed. Obviously it was not a doll; no doll would be walking around on its own. For the most part it looked human, but the metal right arm and blue dragonfly wings on its back told her that it wasn't quite a human. Plus, he didn't smell like a human, if it indeed was a he. What sort of creature was he?
She was surprised when it spoke to her and asked her where it was, and realized that she'd been staring at it for quite some time now. Which was quite rude of her. It was intelligent enough to speak, after all. She should treat it - or him, whichever it was - with the same respect. Staring at it wasn't the best way to start a conversation. She only saw it fitting to answer its questions, and to introduce herself as well.
"Umm.... w-well, you're in my dorm room. You're in Eldritch Academy at the moment, in the Cobalt dorm." Ryse replied, feeling a little uncertain. What should she say? The creature seemed friendly enough, but she knew from experience that appearances could be deceiving.
"My name is Ryse Azar. It's nice to meet you too, Nuada."
Nuada. That was quite an interesting name, and one she'd never heard before. She hesitated a moment before asking the creature a question; she didn't want to insult it. "If you don't mind me asking..... what are you? And why were you in the doll house? You don't.... uh.... live there, do you?" Which made her wonder if she really had just bought someone's living quarters. She knew that if she had fallen asleep in her bed, then woken up to find her house in a completely different location than where it'd been last night, she'd be terribly confused too.

"Dorm room? Ah, perfect! For a few moments there I thought I had ended up in the completely wrong location"
It must've been some strange twist of fate that one of Nuada's fellow classmates had ended up buying the dollhouse he had been sleeping in. If it had been anyone else there probably would've been far more explaining to do and after that he'd still have to eventually find his way back to campus. There was no telling what the odds of the dollhouse being bought by another student of Eldritch Academy but the fairy was assuming they weren't very high. It was this disbelief of the miracle of a situation that he had found himself in that caused the man to almost forget about the girl standing right in front of him, who was probably even more confused after his outburst. After a moment or two the man would break out of his self-congratulatory trance as he suddenly remembered that he wasn't alone in this room.
"Ryse. That's a nice name. It's a pleasure to meet you Ryse Azar! I hope you can forgive me for my intrusion and I had no intentions of breaking into your dorm room."
A cheerful small was spread across the fairy's face as he spoke and he had himself in the most friendly manner possible. While he had been nervous about the resident of the dorm freaking out upon seeing him it appeared that Ryse wasn't that type a person. As a result Nuada was able to act like his usual joyful and carefree self despite the fact that it appeared as if he hadn't accidently broke into some girl's room. The dorm room of a girl from another dorm too boot. It would be awful for his reputation of rumors about this began to spread but this fairy had never been the type to worry about such things. After all Ryse seemed friendly enough, at the very least she hadn't swatted him on sight.
As the girl's questions continued Nuada stood silently and listened to them intently. He was an unwelcome guest in this dorm room after all, at the very least he could try to be as polite as possible. However, as Ryse asked whether or not the house had belonged to him the small fairy couldn't resist the urge to let out a hearty laugh. It was a cheerful laugh as if the girl had just told him one of the greatest jokes he had ever heard yet his expression never gave any sign that he was mocking her. It was a welcoming laugh as if Nuada was expecting Ryse to join in at any moment despite the fact that he hadn't given any context on his situation.
"Hahahahaha! I like you Ryse! Your policy on strangers has been a bit concerned about your general well being but you seem like a kind individual and its not everyday that someone manages to make me laugh at myself this hard. Now than to answers your questions. As for the first one, I am not exactly what you would call me exactly. My mother is a fairy from a forest that is a bit of a ways from here and my father was a phoenix so I ended up being a little bit of both. As for the house, there isn't any reason for you to stress yourself out. I don't live there and as far as I can tell no one does. I just hitched a ride on it back to the city and accidentally slept to long. Though it seems I had the favor of lady luck since I still ended up where I needed to go and even got to meet one of my classmates in the process."

Ryse frowned, her brows furrowing in anger as she first thought that Nuada was laughing at her questions. The candles blazed as her anger caused them to burn brighter and hotter than they were before. But then the small creature explained that he was laughing at himself, and her anger dissipated, the candles returning back to normal. The small creature wasn’t making fun of her... or at least she didn’t think he was. He did say he liked her after all.
Taking a seat on the floor, Ryse looked at Nuada. And she looked a little embarrassed as Nuada said he was concerned about her well being based on her policy towards strangers. ”Yeah.... I can be too friendly to people I just meet.... my mother always tells me I should be more careful about trusting people.” She ran a hand through her hair, giving a little chuckle of embarrassment.
At the mention of Nuada’s parents being a fairy and a phoenix, she glanced at him in curiosity. “Is that why you’re so small, then? You’re not that small usually are you? I don’t know anything about fairies...” If that was the case, then she wondered how hard it was fir him to get around. And..... wait, his father was a phoenix? And Nuada was a student here at the Academy? She wondered how many half phoenixes attended the school; Nuada was the first one she’d met besides herself. Could he control fire like she could?
She was brimming with questions, but promptly kept her mouth shut. She didn’t know him well yet, and she wasn’t sure if he would make fun of her or not. She had already been made fun of once today; she didn’t want it to happen again. Instead she said, ”I’m surprised you’re so open about sharing that you’re a half-breed.” Wasn’t he afraid of being made fun of too? No... he wouldn’t have shared that information if he was. ”What dorm are you in, by the way?”

Nuada froze up as he saw the candles flare in the background as his laughter seemed to have greatly upset the girl in front of him. For a moment a flash of fearful realization appeared in his eyes as he came to fully comprehend the danger he was in. While the fairy didn't really know what this girl was it was fairly obvious that her talent gave her some kind of power over fire. The miniature man may have been part phoenix but he wasn't going to take his chances and let himself get roasted alive. So after an awkward laugh and embarrassingly rubbing the back of his head he spoke again.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you in anyway. Sometimes its just hard not to laugh at yourself."
The man let out a sigh of relief as the growing flames precedes to dissipated and Ryse seemed to have calmed down. For now at least it seemed Nuada has managed to save himself from a fiery death and not completely ruined his chanced of making a new friend at the same time. After a moment the fairy's usual gleeful grin returned to his face as the girl began to respond to his earlier statements. While being overly trusting left you vulnerable to being tricked and abused it wasn't necessarily a bad trait. It showed that one had an overabundance of trust/optimism when it came to others and Nuada would never disrespect such a pure ideal. After all it wasn't too far off from his own beliefs and it was also was stopping the authorities from being called on him now.
Oh, I wouldn't say there is anything wrong with being too friendly. I mean that would be like saying someone was too kind or too generous. The only thing you have to remember is that some people aren't like that and given the chance will take advantage of you. As long as you are at least a bit cautious I think you'll be fine."
As always Nuada's optimism seemed to emanate from his very being as if he had complete faith in the world around him even though he knew there was darkness that lived in this world with him. Sure, there were criminals, murderers, demons, and other evil entities that occupied this world but in his heart the fairy believed there was far more good in the world than there was bad. After all everything comes from nature in someway or another and nature was something fairies respected above all else. Before the small man could contemplate the nature of the world any further his ear perked up when the heard the next question Ryse asked and a playful grin spread across his face.
"Well than let me teach you a thing or two. After all who better to teach you about fairies than a fairy himself!"
With that said Nuada would suddenly run towards the edge of the bed and jump off sending himself plummeting to the ground below. If one didn't know any better they could've mistaken it for an attempt on his life at first but mere moments after he entered into the air he suddenly began to grow at an rapid rate. In place of what had once been a three inch tall man now stood a full grown man about five feet and nine inches tall. The dragonfly wings that had been on his back rapidly grew in size as well but in order to avoid knocking anything over he had folded them up behind his back. If the girl looked at the man's face now she would see an smug expression spread across it as if he was a magician that had just pulled off his ultimate trick.
"Along with our wings we fairies are able to control our size so this would be my normal height. I only shrink to that size when it can benefit me in someway, such as hitching a ride in a dollhouse to the city. It's a cool trick isn't it?"
Before Nuada could show off anymore of the tricks he knew the girl's next statement truly caught him off guard. His usual joyful grin was replaced with an expression of pure confusion, almost as if he didn't even comprehend what she had said. Than looking at the girl he spoke with a very confused tone.
"Why wouldn't I be? I mean being a hybrid means I get the best of both worlds right? I bet you won't find any pure breed phoenixes out there being able to shrink to a size where they can live in a doll house. Now if you don't mind me asking what's your species? The little fire trick from earlier makes me want to say something fire related but I'm not sure if that was just a talent or not. Oh and I almost forgot I live in the Vermillion dorms."

Ryse gasped in shock as she saw Nuada dive off the bed, and almost lunged forwards to try and catch him. But her eyes widened in surprise a few moments later when the tiny three inch fairy grew into a fully grown man. She stared at him for a few moments before getting to her feet as well. Nuada was a few inches taller than herself, it seemed. She then heard his explanation of being able to shrink at will. Which brought up a thought that should've crossed her mind before.
She gave Nuada a flat look, anger sparking in her eyes as she looked up at him. "So what you're saying is that you used me as your pack mule? Why didn't you just fly here? You have wings." The fairy had told her that he'd ended up in her dorm on accident, but that could easily be a lie. She had no way of knowing whether he was telling the truth to her. And now that he was his regular size, she was feeling uncomfortable having him in her room. She didn't normally have people visiting her room; she didn't exactly have any friends at the academy.
She liked him better when he was only three inches tall.
The teenager crossed her arms. "I'm part Phoenix." She replied to his question. "I can control and manipulate fire."
Confusion crossed her face as she realized that she hadn't seen Nuada doing the same thing. Granted, her moods could affect any fires in the area, and this was done unintentionally a lot of the time. She'd thought all Phoenixes could control fire..... was it different for Nuada somehow?
".......You... can't control fire?"

Once again the girl's fuse was lit and the fairy found himself at her mercy once again. This time he truly didn't have any idea what he had done to upset her. He was fairly certain that he had already explained that ending up in her room had simply been an accident yet here she was accusing him of using her as a pack mule. It hurt to have such high levels of distrust directed at him but at the same time he couldn't judge the girl since he was just some stranger that had suddenly appeared in her room. Yet even as Ryse's patience began to waver the playful grin never left the man's face. It was going to take a lot more to break Nuada's cheerfulness than an angry pyromancer though being burned alive was still something he definitely wanted to avoid.
"Hey, I never said anything like that. As I said before me ending up in your room was just an accident. My plan was just to use the dollhouse to get to the city and than make my way to the school from the store. I only ended up here cause you bought the dollhouse I had fallen asleep in. So there's no need to go accusing me of using you as a pack mule. After all, how are you supposed to make friend if you just go around using people you haven't even met as tools? As for why I didn't fly here its pretty simple, its exhausting. I mean telling me to just fly here is like me telling you to just run to some far off location."
Despite Ryse's anger it seemed she was still willing to answer his questions, that was always a good sign. As he listened to the girl the smile across his face broadened as he learned that she was part phoenix as well. It wasn't every day that Nuada got to meet a phoenix hybrid like himself though part of him wished that Ryse didn't have such a temper. The fairy was fascinated to hear that the girl's phoenix heritage allowed her to manipulate fire, it seemed that she had inherited some traits from her phoenix parent that he didn't. It was unfortunate but Nuada wasn't about to complain, after all there was a lot of cool tricks he had as a half fairy that Ryse didn't have access to.
"Nope. I don't have any ability to control fire at all. If you tried to burn me with those flames over there the only thing I'd be able to do is dodge. What I can do, however, is this."
Moving his right arm straight out to the side Nuada partial activated his talent, making sure it was a good distance away from the girl before hand. From his outstretch right arm a curtain of sparkles began to fall as if it had suddenly begun to rain glitter from his arm. As these sparkling specks approached the floor they would vanish without a trance leaving it as if they were never there. The phoenix held his arm out for only a moment or two before the rain of glitter stopped and he lowered his arm to his side.
"Interesting, right? Though I wouldn't go touching the sparkles when its in affect since that will just create more problems for both of us"

Ryse searched Nuada's face, trying to see if he was lying or not. The smile on his face seemed real enough, and his words seemed truthful. Either that..... or she was just really bad at detecting when people were lying. It wouldn't be the first time, after all. However, the fairy seemed to be telling the truth.
After a few moments, the anger faded away, and she uncrossed her arms. "Hehe, yeah I guess that makes sense." She rubbed the back of her neck in embarrassment. "Sorry.... I have a hard time controlling my temper sometimes."
'Especially when people make fun of me.' She thought.
"So I guess you're a heavy sleeper, huh? If you managed to sleep through being carried to the store, and then to my dorm room, that must be the case." She gave a slight smile, hoping to get things on a smoother track. "Where were you coming from, anyways? If you had to travel by dollhouse to get to the city it must've been pretty far. Were you visiting family for the holidays?"
When Nuada replied that he couldn't manipulate fire, she was surprised. But she was even more so when he made it rain glitter from his arm.
She watched it rain down, her eyes widening in awe. It was kind of pretty in a way. She almost reached out her hand to catch some of them, only to withhold from doing so at Nuada's warning. Which made her think it was dangerous....... Wait... what? "Huh?" She turned her head to look back at Nuada, frowning in confusion. "You mean it's not just sparkles? What is it? Wait, wait hang on. It's not.....it's not combustible is it? 'Cause I would like my room to not catch on fire, thank you very much." She eyed the sparks warily.
Perhaps she should be more careful about stepping in that section of her room from now on, just in case she accidentally caused whatever those sparkles were to explode...

"Hahaha! I guess so! Though to be completely honest I had a few drinks before hitching the ride on the dollhouse. They probably had a bit to do with my oversleeping as well. Really wasn't one of my best decisions now that I think about it.... Well whatever!"
Despite the concerning words that were coming out of the fairy's mouth his gleeful expression never left his face. He was completely and totally carefree as if the whole event wasn't something that could've gone horrible wrong. However, it was probably even stranger that he was suddenly just admitting to his bad habits in front of a total stranger. The young phoenix seemed to not even understand what the concept of too much information was. He simply said everything that came to his mind without any filter whatsoever.
Great guess! That's exactly what I was doing! I decided to head back home for quick holiday visit. It was good to see my family again and I got to host a great party. Hmm, I should hold a celebration of some kind here at some point. A party would be fun wouldn't it?"
As Nuada began to talk about parties his excitement levels seemed to rise exponentially. Even as he suddenly began to pose question towards Ryse it almost seemed as if he had begun talking to himself as well out of pure excitement. The man loved hosting celebrations be it a party, feast, festival, etc. Extravagant celebrations were what he lived for to the point where one almost had to wonder if he was the son of a god like Dionysus. The fairy would even wonder that himself if it wasn't for the fact that his mother had told him his father was a phoenix. Unfortunately, the fairy was so caught up in his own internal party planning that he almost completely missed the girl's questions until the spark in her eyes snapped him back to reality.
The boy really needed to start being more careful about what he said around Ryse or he was going to get himself fried. The half phoenix seemed like a nice girl though she definitely had a very short fuse that Nuada was getting really close to igniting. As they say hindsight is twenty twenty and it was very clear now that he should've explained his talent before releasing the so called fairy dust into the room. It was easy to imagine why the girl was so upset, especially considering her mind immediately went to the idea that the dust was combustible. He'd be pretty upset as well if someone came into his room and released explosive powder all over it.
No. Of course not! I wouldn't just release the dust into your room if it was combustible especially considering the fact that you have a fire related talent. We probably would've blown up by now if I did that. I enjoy a good thrill but I'm not a psychopath. The dust just puts anyone who inhales it besides me to sleep but its not something you have to worry about. The fairy dust as I like to call it can only exist in close proximity to me so it loses all effect once it moves away from me."
With that Nuada lowered his arm and the dust appearing all around his body. A moment later the sparkles that once surrounded him completely vanished without a trance as if they had never been there in the first place.

"U-um, isn't that a bit dangerous? What if something bad had happened while you were..... sleeping?" Ryse asked hesitantly. She herself wasn't old enough to drink, but surely getting drunk enough to pass out for however long it took to get from the wilderness to the shop, then from the shop to her room, wasn't good for Nuada's health. What if she'd wrapped the dollhouse with the fairy still inside it and shipped it off to her mother?! The older Phoenix would've no doubt tried to swat him.... or maybe fry him. Either case wouldn't have ended well for him.
"I guess a party would be fun." She replied, giving a small smile at the fairy's enthusiasm. The teenager and her mother always had a party during this time, though it was just for the two of them. But that was alright with her; nobody would've come to their house anyways even if they'd sent invitations out. They weren't exactly the most well-liked Phoenixes. As it was, it was safer if she stayed here at the Academy rather than returning home, considering the things that had been happening recently. Which reminded her. She'd gotten a letter from her mother earlier this morning. Perhaps she should open it later; after Nuada was gone from her room, of course.
"So it just puts people to sleep? That's all it does?" Ryse asked curiously. "Is that a talent from your mother? Or your father? She was curious how his parents met. Did they fall in love like those fairy tales she read when she was little? Or.... did it happen through some other circumstance?

"True, I guess something could've happened in my sleep but at the end of the day nothing did. To be honest, I consider myself to be a pretty lucky individual and so far nothing bad has happen to me while I've been asleep. While I'm awake, however, is an entirely different story."
As he spoke Nuada knocked on his right arm with his left hand revealing that it was made of metal. The arm had been lost it in a fight with a bear many years ago in an foolish attempt to try to impress some girl's he had met at the bar. It was totally reckless and insane even for the fairy's standards. He never forgot the look on his mother's face and the scolding her got from her when he returned home later that day without an arm. Yet as he revealed it to Ryse he had nothing but a smile on his face as he thought back on his own stupidity. This was just the kind of man the young phoenix was, an individual who never let themselves get hung up on their mistakes off the past but instead laughed as if the whole thing had been one great joke.
"So you agree?! Fantastic! Now we just have to make a plan, make a list of who to invite, and buy all the supplies for the party. We're going to need some great snacks and no matter what we can't forget the drinks! Can't have a proper toast without drinks! Hmm, we also need to figure out where to hold the party. I don't think your room or my room are big enough. Well whatever we can figure it out. Should we make a theme? I think the party should have a theme but I don't know what it should be. Any birthdays or celebrations you have coming up?"
Just like that Nuada had gone full party mode. There were no ifs, ands, or buts anymore. The fairy was going to host a grand party and there was no force in the universe that was going to stop him. Unfortunately for Ryse, the young phoenix had already decide that she was going to be attending this party even if she hadn't said it yet. The only thing that stopped the boy from continuing on his unending rate was the question the girl suddenly asked him about his power.
"Well it puts them to sleep and alters their dream so to them it feels like they are living in their perfect version of reality. It's a hard dream to wake up from because of that though it easy for someone to wake you up from the outside. As for where I got it from I'm not really sure. I didn't get it from my mother and I really never knew my father. So I either got it from him or I just developed the power by random chance. How about you? You get that fire power of yours from one of your parents?"

Ryse opened her mouth as the fairy began going off about the party he was already seeming to be planning. "Uh- um....." Big parties weren't really her thing, and she'd never been to a large party before in the first place. She was more of a 'Stay at home and read a book' kind of person. Besides, she didn't really know anybody here at the academy, except for a few people. Nuada was included in that very short list. "What if the party is a.... small one...?"
When he asked about her powers, she looked away, playing with her shirt sleeves nervously. "I.... I got it from my mom." Talking about her Phoenix half, she was okay with. But talking about her other half, she wasn't comfortable with. She would rather talk about anything other than that. Nuada seemed pretty comfortable saying that he was half Fairy, but for her it was different. Who knew how he would react if she told him she was part dog? He'd probably laugh at her.

"A small party? Hmmm..."
The overexcitement and joy would suddenly drain from the boy's face as he heard Ryse's suggestion. In the place of his glee came an expression of pure contemplation as if he had been completely lost in his own mind. At the same time he had lowered himself into a sitting position with his legs crossed. For a moment, it would looked as if the energetic party boy had spontaneously turned into a sage deep within meditation. Yet the thoughts shooting about beneath the surface weren't those of a wise man at all. No, the thoughts that were going through the fairy's head now were fill of cheer, feasting, drinking, and debauchery. He was trying to wrap his mind around what Ryse meant when she said small party. Put simply, for Nuada the idea of a small party couldn't exist. A party was suppose to be a grandiose event. Something that would carve memories of joy into the mind of everyone that arrived
If Ryse was looking to restrain the phoenix's enthusiasm her effort would be met with vain. Yet the man in front of her still tried to contemplate just how much he would have to give up in order to meet girl's request of a small party. Sure, he wanted it to be a huge event but there really was no point if he wouldn't be able to convince his unwilling partner in crime to go. So after a few more moments of contemplation the fairy quickly jumped back to his feet.
Okay! We'll have a small party! However, if I'm only going to hold a small party for this I'm expecting you to show up to one of my big parties later on. Promise?"
After finishing his sentence he held his hand out towards Ryse. A dead serious expression had spread across his face, a look he had not made this entire time, as he waited for her to shake on their agreement. It would appear as if the boy was treating this promise like it was a formal business agreement. Unfortunately, the entire agreement was unknowingly rigged since it was very likely that Nuada's idea of a small party differed greatly from the girl's concept of it. If Ryse shook his hand than a smile would quickly return to his face though there would be no escaping his parties now. Nuada wasn't one to let someone break a promise so easily. If she didn't shake his hand his face lips would curl down into a frown for a brief moment as he shook off the disappointment. After that his smile would return but too a much lower level of energy than it had been before.
"Your mother, huh? Well its an interesting power and it definitely matches the whole phoenix thing. Matches your personality a bit as well~"

Ryse tilted her head a little as she saw Nuada's expression become thoughtful. She'd mentioned having a small party for Christmas.... had the boy even thrown a small party before? He sure knew how to plan big ones. A small one compared to that shouldn't be so difficult.
As he shot to his feet, however, the teenager took a step back in surprise. And blinked, a smile appearing on her face as she heard his answer. "You will? Really?"
At his request, her smile faded a little as she thought. Big parties weren't really her thing. But.... Nuada seemed nice, and if he was willing to throw a small party for her, then it would be rude not to go to one of his larger ones. Nuada seemed to be pretty serious when it came to promises, and to parties. Besides, her mother had told her she needed to get out there more and experience new things. Going to a large party wouldn't hurt. After a few long moments, the smile returned to her face, and she nodded. "Y-yeah! Okay. If you throw a small party, I will come to one of your large ones. I promise. As long as it isn't on a school day." For her, her schooling was more important than any party. Not even Nuada's enthusiasm could pull her away if she was working on homework, or studying for a test. The only days she wasn't doing so was on the weekends.
"Thanks." She replied as the boy complimented her. "I think your.... sparkles? Is pretty neat also. It's definitely something I haven't seen before." It was probably handy being able to knock out people; especially those that tried to hurt him.
