Faust's Course for Sparring & The Practical Application & Development of Talents
It's exactly what it says on the tin!
Welcome to course S-391, otherwise known as Sparring & The Practical Application & Development of Talents. If you couldn't tell from the name, this course is focused around the development of sparring skills, the development of talents for use in situations where diplomacy has failed, and the practical application of talent-theory in order to help students potentially awaken any other latent talents they may possess in a (mostly) safe environment. If nobody loses a limb in the process, that's just a bonus. Unlike some other courses focusing on sparring and the practice of utilizing talents in simulated combat scenarios, course 391 will primarily be an informal class utilizing nontraditional teaching methodology to achieve its aims.
Sparring formats will vary wildly day-by-day, ranging from traditional duels to double-battles to simple physical combat training. Classes may take place on school grounds in designated areas, but will generally be delegated to off-campus locations to allow for talents to be used to their fullest extent without fear of collateral damage. In layman's terms, this means you get to take a lot of field trips to pretty locales and duke it out like the angry hairless monkeys you (maybe) are. Camping and hiking will occasionally be required elements of the course as a result. If that sounds like your thing, this course may be for you. Courses may also include lectures held either on academy grounds or in the field, as well as days dedicated to the training of / awakening of new talents.
Attendance is restricted to students of at least Freshman year (grade 9) of highschool. Grading is based on attendance; due to the shifting nature of the class-roster, its size and the frequency of field trips which may last a couple days at a time (potentially interfering with other course schedules), students are not encouraged to attend every field-session, and require an attendance rate of only 50% to achieve a passing score. Tests are mandatory-attendance and will generally, but not always, be held in unique conditions, possess unique modifiers to standard sparring procedure, or be carried out in official tournament-style.
Additionally, Ludwig will treat students to lunch or dinner during multiple-day outings as well as on test days, depending. Yeah, you get free food.
Meetings for field-trips, tests and lectures will be called via (Discord or site-PM). There is no hard limit to the number of students who can be active in the course at any given time. Attendance will be tracked. Be sure to describe your talent's functions to the best of your knowledge and abilities. Course description may be subject to change.
