welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Kireina had a fondness for the library. It was a good place to study and learn about new things. Kireina loved reading. The Akh was a bookworm. If you knew her, you'd know that Kireina was a bookworm. Whenever she was bored, she would go to the library and study. Kireina scoured the bookshelves, looking for a book that would make her interested. She eventually found a book, took it gently out of the shelf, and headed over to a place to read. Kireina's ears, though, were ready to pick up any noise she heard. The girl was easily distracted.

The Vamp Wolf | Golden eyes scanned over the covers of the books on a shelf, the tall young man clearly searching for something. He had been more or less standing there silently for a while, trying to find a book he was after, a little annoyed that it was taking so long. Well, it's not like they were that terribly organized, but still, finding a specific book could be a challenge at times. There were so many stacked on these shelves, one after another. Thankfully, he did eventually find it, proceeding to walk out towards the sitting area with said book in hand. Instead of going to a table to sit at however, he would pause for a moment, looking across the area before shrugging to himself, and just leaning against the closest edge of a bookshelf. Oh, he could go sit down, but he wasn't a huge fan of potentially sharing spaces with strangers, which could always happen in the library. Therefore, he'd snap his book open while standing there almost boredly, probably looking at least a bit out of place with his behavior. Then again, when did he ever care about that...? |

Kireina soon noticed that she wasn't alone when she noticed a man. She looked up from her book, looking at the man. " Hello." Kireina said, putting her book down. " I guess I'm not the only one here." The Akh was generally a very friendly girl, so whenever she saw someone appear, she would always say kind words like "hello", and so on. It was rare to have Kireina ignore you. She was not one to ignore someone, except for if class was going on.

Kaname strode into the library on her quest to learn more about the sword that was always tugging at her mind. It wanted her to use it to claim more souls and more blood to consume. It claimed that she owed it compensation for bringing her back to life as a Ghost/Human Hybrid instead of killing her outright like it had so many other people in the past. Kaname ignored that and started browsing the shelves for more books on the weapons of the ancient war. She had not seen Rika in awhile, but the search could not wait because the sword seemed to be ramping up its efforts to control her.
Kaname spotted Golden Eyes from her dorm leaning on a shelf in the library. He was trying to look cool and mysterious by leaning on the shelf to read his book, but she was not buying it. She knew his game and was mildly amused by it. He and Oras had gotten into a snark duel to see who could out-snark the other... it was kind of funny to watch. Anyway, on to the bookshelves.
She began looking in the Ancient History section and found a large book on famous swords used during the war. That was exactly what she was looking for. She gently pulled it from the shelf and started looking for a place to sit and read. All the private rooms were taken, so she had to find a public space. She spotted an empty table next to a red-haired girl and made her way over to it, then sat down and gently placed the book on the table with it giving off a gentle WHUMP due to its weight.
Kaname began reading Notable Swords of the War and was not finding anything yet, but she had just started reading it. Finding something useful would take time. In the meantime, her eyes wandered to the redhead just a table away from her. Why was that?

| Emma Lockwood Nickname: Em, Tabby Species: Neko Age: 18 Dorm: Vermilion Notes: Silently Observing.
|
After a tiring morning socialising in the Vermilion common room, something was that definitely not her forte, Emma had decided to seclude herself to the library. She had expected like most libraries that it would be near silent aside from the sound of pages turning as students studied various textbooks or just enjoyed a good fictional story. The neko was definitely drained from her previous conversations, in fact if she wasn’t careful she would more than likely fall asleep reading at this point. She raised her left hand to her mouth as a quiet yawn escaped her lips. Well, she wasn’t against taking a small nap in the library should it come to it, but first she wished to do a bit of preemptive studies for the courses she had signed up for.
Emma had decided to sign up for a couple classes based around the world’s species, one of the few things that did interest her was learning all about how different races and cultured worked. Plus being able to speak multiple languages would always come in handy should she choose to travel in the future. As the lavender haired girl entered the library she noticed a few unfamiliar faces, not surprising, she knew very few people here and the ones she had met seemed strange to say the least. Honestly, she wasn’t sure why she expected the people here to be normal, this was definitely not the academy for regular minds and bodies. Still, they were definitely a lot more quirky than she originally anticipated.
As Emma’s orchid eyes scanned the shelves she found the section she had been looking for, information on the known species of the world. A little light study on some of the more common races in the country would definitely help her in the long run. Carefully she placed a finger on the spine, gently pulling the book out towards her and out of the shelf, she looked around commiting the location to memory so she could easily return it once she was done. The neko nodded to herself, satisfied she would be able to remember the exact shelf and location without hassle as she made her way back to the seating area. Before Emma could sit down however, she spied what appeared to be a giant of a man, well at least compared to her small frame, he had to be at least a good foot and a half bigger than her in her current form. While she wasn’t generally one for staring, she had come from a very small village where most of the townsfolk were either human or neko and while she was short compared to most this man made her feel like she was but a mere morsel that he could swallow whole.
Emma sighed to herself, turning her attention away from him, not wanting to be caught practically glaring at him considering her sullen expression. She was being ridiculous, sure he was tall, but there was no way he could eat her without at least chewing her up into pieces. ‘Unless I go to my full cat form, then he probably could.’ Emma contemplated as she sat down, watching as a strange fiery red headed girl attempted to converse with the giant of a man. She carefully lifted her book up to cover her face, attempting to appear as if she was reading it while observing from just over the pages. She was interested in how the two creatures would interact, a book teaches theory, but seeing interspecies interactions first hand would be far more interesting. As the redhead approached the giant man, Emma noticed that she wasn’t that much shorter than him, only a few inches in difference. ‘Geez, is everyone in this academy a flipping giant?’ she asked internally as she continued to observe.

The Vamp Wolf | It would appear that his choice to remain on the sidelines was actually paying off. More people seemed to be strolling in, and Sharaku was kind of glad he didn't have to deal with someone asking to sit beside him or any of that common nonsense. Besides, it wasn't even as if he minded standing, and it gave him a good way of seeing everything in case he did end up having to bother. Which...he did pretty quickly as the redheaded girl that was there before him chose to address him. Looking away from the pages of his book, he'd give her a brief contemplative look. "..." Saying hellos felt really awkward in all honesty, but guess he had to if he didn't want to be seen as rude for absolutely no reason. As much as he typically didn't care about what others thought of him, getting on literally everyone's bad side was not quite his intention either. "...Hey. I suppose not, although the library is a public space and almost everybody here is a student...so I wouldn't think it unusual for people to gather here." Whether on purpose or not depended on circumstance, but that was not really his point anyway. That said, he took notice of a familiar face coming around as well, looking towards the girl from his dorm for a bit, though he would blink away after a while. He honestly wasn't sure how well they got along despite the fact that they've met more than once before, and he wasn't the one to initiate conversations all that often either way.
As for the third girl...he did sort of notice he had been stared at very shortly, but considering his current position, he wouldn't say he found it all that unusual. Actually, he would think it amusing if someone decided to waste their time glaring at him. Why? No real reason besides the fact that it'd be funny to entertain the idea that they found his existence important enough to focus on over the books which were the main reason anyone would step into the library in the first place. And now he was getting distracted too, apparently. The tall young man would huff to himself under his breath. Such a great start. |

Kireina slowly nodded at the man's words. " True." She replied, before noticing even more people arriving. Wow. Apparently this library was rather full of people today. " Hey guys!" She greeted cheerfully, but she then covered her mouth quickly in case she was a little too loud. Kireina was definitely too energetic, though. She then glanced at the neko girl. Hm. She seemed familiar. She was from Vermilion, right? " Hello Emma!" Kireina greeted. " How are ya?" The red-haired girl liked conversing with people in the same dorm as her.

While Kaname read the book, she noticed that people were piling up around her. First it was the redhead, then Golden Eyes decided to saunter over to them. Next came a cat girl with lavender hair who seemed apprehensive about the redhead and Golden Eyes. Both of them were taller than the cat girl, so that was likely why the small girl was apprehensive. Kaname did not have many height issues since she was of "normal" height for her age, but she would not grow any taller for a long time because of her slower physical maturation... that slower physical growth was what she experienced in exchange for ghost powers and a 500-year lifespan.
Oh well. Kaname had read over the first two dozen pages and had found nothing of interest yet, but the book itself was interesting. It was a lot more interesting that the four tomes she slogged through when hanging out with Rika. The private rooms were still full, so she would have to wait to get some privacy. Still, she did not mind too much because the people were not too loud and no one really paid much attention to a freshman.
She listened to Sharaku talk and make an observation that she pegged as fairly obvious, but at least he was civil about it. The redhead, Golden Eyes, and the cat girl were all at a standoff over who would say something more substantial first. Kaname decided to let one of them make the first move and kept reading while waiting for someone to actually say something that she could act on.

| Emma Lockwood Nickname: Em, Tabby Species: Neko Age: 18 Dorm: Vermilion Notes: Stealth mission failed, abort!

Much to Emma’s dismay it seemed her attempt to stay covert was a complete waste of time. Not only did everyone in the vicinity seem blatantly aware of her the redheaded girl even took the time to greet her. Honestly the neko had avoided learning most people’s names, even the ones in her classes and dorm, still it seemed this one knew hers. Emma sighed internally, admitting defeat as she lowered her book and gave a small, salute like wave with her left hand.
“Yo.” she responded to the initial mention of her name, before groaning at the stupid pleasantry that always irritated her ‘How are you?’. Still it would be rude not to respond, “I guess I’m disappointed.” Emma answered, it was the truth after all. Disappointed that she wouldn’t get to simply enjoy the interactions from the sidelines and would have to actually participate in the conversation. Part of her thought she should probably ask the redheaded girl for her name, but she decided against it, for now she would just hope it would crop up in the conversation naturally.
Well at least this gave her the opportunity to find out more first hand, although It didn’t seem that the neko was going to have much chance to study before starting her classes after all. Emma closed the book she was holding before focusing on the location she had memorised previous, before opening up a small near invisible rift in the air to which she pushed the book through, the other side residing on the shelf she had collected it from. To anyone with heightened visionary senses they would notice a small ripple in the air where the book disappeared, to anyone else it would look like it had been swallowed into nothingness. Emma then made her way over to the two towering giants, now that she was closer she only felt more tiny in comparison.
“Tall.” the neko voiced her thoughts without meaning to as she gazed up at the golden eyed male, her face showing just as little emotion as her voice. Suddenly she remembered her brother's advice on introducing herself. While she tended to hate most physical contact, a simple handshake was doable. The lavender girl offered her small outstretched hand towards the giant of a man "Emma." She stated bluntly while awaiting him to shake her hand. Seeing as the redheaded girl already appeared to know her name, she didn't see the need to repeat the action to her.

The Vamp Wolf | Yes, he had said a very obvious thing, but really, there was absolutely nothing else coming to mind anyway. How else do you respond to such an obvious question? He was far too bad at small talk to be able to follow up on that properly. Look, you ask a question that has a common sense answer, that's what you're getting. There's nothing more to it. While he figured that many people might be using that as a simple conversation starter, in his mind it just didn't click. He didn't get what people expected, and probably never would. Eh, it was what it was, he supposed. That said, Sharaku would remain silent for a while, internally hoping that the momentary display of loudness from the redheaded girl wouldn't repeat a lot and grate on his nerves. For the most part, he was content to remain in his spot and simply watch, rather than put himself into the spotlight by saying something randomly. Besides, he was quite sure someone else would sooner or later, making it pointless for him to even think of making a move, especially since he didn't even care for doing that.
Lo and behold, his assumptions would soon prove more or less correct as the lavender-haired girl poofed her book away, choosing to approach him. Now that was hardly what he'd expect, considering that he had never addressed her in the first place, unlike the other girl there. Was she trying to avoid talking to the more cheery girl, or was there some other reason as to why he became the target? It was certainly a bit of a mystery, and he'd find himself raising an eyebrow briefly as a result of that in combination with the strange way that he was being addressed by. Nevertheless, it wasn't like he had any way out of this even if he wanted to, thus he would snap his book closed for now, kind of giving up on reading for the time being, turning his attention to the fairly short girl instead. Normally, he just didn't care about height differences, as he was far too used to towering above almost everyone with how tall he was, but it was worth noting that it could get physically awkward sometimes. He was good at ignoring things however, and that's what he'd opt to do this time as he glanced at her calmly. "....It's Sharaku.", he'd give his name, keeping a neutral tone as he took the handshake. He had to at least ask though. "I suppose it's nice to meet you...though I do have to wonder what's the occasion? I wasn't the one speaking to you after all." He was mostly just curious, though how it would be taken was beyond him. |

Someone had finally said something that Kaname could act on. The lavender-haired cat girl had introduced herself as Emma just after the redhead greeted the cat girl. Since everyone else was making introductions, it was time to introduce herself as well. Kaname carefully marked her place with a piece of notebook paper and faced Emma, who was marveling at Sharaku's height.
"Hi Emma. I'm Kaname." The white-haired hybrid introduced herself with a wave.

| Emma Lockwood Nickname: Em, Tabby Species: Neko Age: 18 Dorm: Vermilion Notes: Feeling out of my depth...
|
“Are you two not friends?” Emma blinked at his response after the handshake, tilting her head with a slightly confused look as she glanced back and forth between Sharaku and the still unknown named red haired girl, "It only seems natural to introduce oneself before joining a group conversation." Surely it was obvious, she was greeted by the girl and it would be rude to start talking to her and disregard someone who was part of the conversation first. Well that’s what she thought at first, but as she pondered his question a little further she began to realise that maybe she was just curious because he seemed…. Odd? Not in a bad way, just in a different way.
Honestly Emma was beginning to feel she should have skipped over signing up for Inter-species Communications this semester and taken a regular communication course first at this point. The neko was definitely out of her comfort zone when it came to basic communication skills when it involved people she was not familiar with. Part of her regretted her decision to respond and not just ignore the greeting. If she had done that she would not be feeling so awkward right now, nor would her stomach be feeling like there were butterflies fluttering about inside her.
Emma jumped slightly at the sound of a strange voice greeting her, causing her to nearly lose her balance, only managing to catch herself just before toppling over and causing a scene. With a little sigh of relief she then looked up to see the owner of the unfamiliar voice. It was a female girl, only a couple inches taller than herself, at least not everyone here was gigantic. “Um, h-hi.” the neko stuttered in response, honestly unsure how to proceed from here. At this point she would just be happy if someone would mention the redheaded girl's name, perhaps she would introduce herself to this Kaname if they didn't know each other already. Small talk was definitely not her forte, but there was only one way to improve at something.
“So. What brings you all to the library?” she asked, looking at each of the three before her after finally composing herself and feeling her confidence come back.

The Vamp Wolf | "Er...no, first time I'm seeing her, just like you. Someone's just excited to say hi, I guess.", he'd blink somewhat awkwardly at that question. Yeah, no. The only person he knew here was the one he had not spoken with since this whole talk business began. Besides, even if he had 'known' her, he'd probably have to answer no to an inquiry phrased like that. Sharaku did not make friends easily, and simply having met someone before did not mean he'd think of a person as a friend. It'd take way more than that, and frankly, he would normally just claim he didn't have friends. Not really. At any rate, he'd furrow his brows slightly. "...I wasn't aware this was a group conversation. Pardon me on that." Perhaps he was just slow. Though it would be more accurate to say 'group chat' was far from the first thing that came to his mind when one or two people happened to address him in the same time frame. He was honestly hopeless when it came to small talk and having any sense for it. Albeit rather than being more self-conscious about it like the shorter girl, he was just...let's say generally disinterested in such endeavors and thus didn't catch on very well. It certainly got awkward at times however.
For a moment, he'd stare blankly off in a random direction, as his dormmate took the opportunity to chime in with introductions as well, focusing back onto the matter at hand when the new question was thrown out. At which point, he'd offer a vague shrug. "I wanted to read up on something for classes, as I had nothing better to be doing." Nothing very interesting, at the very least. |

Kaname just rolled with how things were going and let Sharaku do some of the talking. The cat person was wary of Sharuka, mostly because of his height. Now that she thought about it, Golden Eyes was a pretty tall guy. The hybrid had never noticed that before because she had been so wrapped up in her own business lately, namely research on a certain troublesome weapon.
"Me, I'm doing some research. Research on something for personal reasons. Namely how long I can live." Kaname said to Emma and the others. She was not lying... from a certain point of view. If she did not get a handle on her weapon, she might not live for much longer because the sword might turn on her.
