Name of Talent:
Living Enchantments
Concept:
By focusing magic into a physical manifestation to imprint it upon an object the user is able to bestow an element or supernatural function to any object for a short period of time. In the case of combat related enhancements, this can be in the form of adding elemental damage or resistance properties to the object. As far as functional enchantments the results largely depend on the object being enchanted and could include such things as enchanting an oven with fire, enabling it the ability to heat up and cook things without the use of fuel. Brooms could even be enchanted to perform sweeping chores independently. While the duration of enchantments on an object are typically limited, certain methods of application may allow the user to enchant the same item multiple times with different effects or even create a permanently enchanted item. Doing either of these two things however is not advised as attempting to layer multiple enchantments onto a single item or creating a permanently enchanted item has been known to cause certain undesirable side effects.
Extra(s):
Normal enchantments last for up to two hours and can include features of any element the caster is able to use. The affects can be combat or non-combat oriented and either offensive, defensive, or functional in nature. Layering more than a single enchantment onto the same item reduces the overall duration on the enchanted item.
Positive Mechanics:
1) Enchantments vary based on the shape, theme, and function of the object being enchanted. (User discretion is advised)
2) Objects can be enchanted with a single permanent enchantment or may be imbued with multiple enhancements for a short duration. (usually between a 1-2 hours time limit)
3) Singular enchantments may last for up to 5 hours instead of being permanent.
Negative Mechanics:
1) Adding more than one enchantment to the same object or creating an enchanted item with a permanent effect causes the item to become sentient. Sentient items created in this way almost always have negative personality traits. For example: A permanently enchanted toaster may choose to attack anyone who actually tries to use it as a toaster.
