welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

The glacier Atranoch was leaning against the front gates. He had convinced Inglisse to let him conjure up three elementals who would follow and guard her whenever possible. The creatures were low intelligence but they had enough to understand the commands Oras gave them. He also told Inglisse not to research them other than observance or else there would be problems. He had also spoken with faculty and managed to find someone who was a bit more understanding, or at least more open to understanding. The individual was willing to accept the unexpected vacation time once they understood the, general and somewhat vague circumstances. With that out of the way, he and Ryse were free to travel to her homeland. Oras checked the bag strapped around his shoulder down to his waist. Good, the dry ice was perfectly cool. As long as it stayed that way they should be fine. all he was waiting on was the hybrid...

Ryse, as usual, had been awake hours earlier. When the sun rose, so did she. The urge to greet the bright star every morning was always too strong to fight, and this morning was no different. She'd woken up at the crack of dawn, a smile on her face, and thanked Vissarion for giving her another bright and sunny day. The air was a bit chilly, so she was wearing a light jacket. On her back was a small bag which she'd put a spare long-sleeved shirt and pants in, as well as a toothbrush and toothpaste. She knew that Oras said the trip would only take three days to get there, but she needed to at least bring a spare change of clothes. She wasn't going to be wearing the same clothes for three days straight, no sirree. Not going to happen. If he expected her to, she would smack him on the head.
As of the moment, she hurried along towards the front gates, an excited gleam in her eyes. She was excited to see her homeland again after being gone this long. She wanted to feel the humidity and the warm air, see the vast stretches of greenery that were abundant in Hisakawa, the bright colors of the plants that most people here in Mistere wouldn't even know the name for. But most of all, she was excited to see her mom again. Writing letters back and forth was nice, but nothing beat seeing her and hugging her. Even if she was going to her home to confront her mother. Part of her was nervous about that, but excitement quickly overrode it. Within a few minutes she spotted the Atronach by the gates and made her way over to him. "I'm here. You ready to go?" She asked, bouncing on her toes a little. Normally she wouldn't be acting so childish, but she couldn't help it. Mistere was nice with its vibrant culture, but it would never beat Hisakawa in terms of the feeling of 'home'. Not in a million years.

Oras saw her running over, and saw the excitement in her eyes. Well, he wondered how long that excitement would last when they took his unique style of swift transportation. When Oras was with his first summoner, he never had to worry about running ahead of him. His first summoner's talent, or at least his primary one, was one that increased his speed to unimaginable margins. Oras had to find his own unique ways to keep up with his partner, and he was in fact successful. However this would be the first time he had to take someone who didn't have fast movement along with him. This was certainly going to be a rather interesting trip indeed.
When she was close enough he flicked a pebble at her forehead, striking her solid. "You're late. Next time get here on time and you won't get a bruise..." His eyes focused in on her bag hanging from her back. "...Toss me the bag, I need to feel the damn weight."

"Ow." Came Ryse's response as the pebble hit her squarely on the forehead. Rubbing her head, she frowned at the Atronach, but took off the bag and tossed it to him anyways. "I didn't pack that much. I don't see how a shirt and a pair of pants would make any difference to how we're traveling."
Which... she didn't know exactly how they were going to get to her home in three days. They had to get to the mountain border and cross them first, which usually took a day or so. She was curious as to Oras's method. Did he have some sort of teleportation ability she didn't know about? She already knew he could fly... so was he going to fly them across? Or maybe they were going to jump across the mountain tops? She simply didn't know. But she was still excited nonetheless. If she was in her hybrid form her tail would be wagging like crazy.

Oras caught the bag very nimbly and easily. Swinging it so momentum slowed down rather than stopping all at once in case anything was fragile... In which case he probably would have tossed it towards her as it would never have made it. When he started feeling the weight, he was skeptical at first but decided it would be fine. He then began padding softly on the bag to determine if there was in fact anything fragile or not. Thank the world she had the common sense not to do something so stupid. He tossed the bag back over to her. "Depends on how you travel. We aren't going to be riding or flying after all. You ready to go?" he asked as he walked over to her.
When she said yes, and when he reached her. Oras grabbed her wrist with a steel grip. "Don't you dare loosen my grip," he warned her. Immediately a sheet of ice was conjured in the form of a path towards the mountains. Ryse would not be able to see the end of the path either. Oras took a deep breath, held his free hand out. Crouched lower. And darted off like a speeding bullet. He started with just his running speed, Ryse's feet being dragged on the ice. However he slowly built up his speed, absorbing the kinetic energy around him and building up his speed even more. Finally, when he hit the maximum speed he could go normally, he began channeling ice from his free hand in blasts and waves. Shockwaves to be more specific, causing his speed to increase by 4% with each activation. Slowly building up faster and faster. And all the while, ice conjured in front of them, though this time the edge of the ice path was only about two feet in front of them, according to immediate vision.

Ryse blinked in confusion as Oras grabbed her wrist. "Why would I do tha-"
She was jolted forwards as her companion beginning running, gaining speed every second. At first her feet dragged along the icy ground as she struggled to keep up with him, but soon she found that was no longer possible. A few more moments after that, and she was clinging desperately to Oras as she practically flew through the air, her feet not even touching the ground. Flying with wings was one thing. Flying without them, however, was something she never wanted to experience again anytime soon. A scream left her mouth, only to be carried away by the wind.
Using her other hand to grasp Oras's shoulder, she clutched onto his back, wrapping her arms and legs around him, squeezing shut her eyes as the wind was forcing her back. She buried her face into his back. All excitement was gone now. Now she was afraid. Had she known what the Atronach was going to do, she would've suggested a different method. But now it was too late. He was already going at top speed, it seemed like. They hadn't even reached the mountains yet, and already the air was biting through her jacket, making her shiver.

As he charged forward he could almost hear the scream building up in her chest. However at the same time, he doubted she'd be screaming at this speed. For now Oras just focused on running. When he felt her pulling herself over to him, he stumbled a little bit and his eyes widened as he sought his footing, succeeding. He growled, too angry to realize he had a pretty girl holding tightly against him as they ran. Or more specifically him running. He could feel her becoming colder so he went ahead and drew the cold into him, giving him more energy and increasing his speed even more by one percent. After that he went ahead and released another blast of power, speeding him up more.

The hybrid clung tightlyto Oras, keeping her eyes shut. At least now she wasn’t cold anymore. But now they were going even faster than before.... how fast was he going to go?! At the moment Ryse was still too scared to open her eyes, but the wind rushing past her did feel nice. She couldn’t deny that. “H-how long until we reach the mountains?” She called over the wind. She knew Oras was moving extremely fast so she wasn’t sure how far away from the campus they were by now, but she had a feeling they’d traveled farther than what she’d normally be able to in a day even if she was flying.

Oras was going fast, but he could go faster. There was a limit of course, he couldn't build it up forever. In fact he was beginning to reach the limits of his maximum speeds. However he was able to go extraordinarily fast. When he heard her yell her question, he didn't turn to look at her. He couldn't afford losing his balance. "About a day and a half!!! Don't worry about the time, just focus on not falling!! That will slow us down like hell if I have to pick you up and start building speed up again!!" With that he returned his focus to his running. He curved around a large tree, weaving in between them with relative ease. It was as if he'd been doing this for a lifetime. As they traveled, a fallen tree was seen up ahead, them almost on top of it in a second. Oras crated a tiny ramp of ice so they wouldn't trip and the two shot into the air through the trees. When they came down he made a miniature ramp along with the path so they didn't trip, fall or stumble, while retaining all of their momentum. Given a small boost with the tiny slide.

Ryse tightened her grip on him. Had she heard him right? A day and a half? "You realize that I can't hold onto to you that long, right? We're going to have to stop for breaks or else my hands are going to fall off! Unless you want to pick me up from the ground!" She shouted in order to be heard. How did he expect her to hold on for a day and a half?! She wasn't an Atronach, sooner or later she was going to have to take a break if he didn't want her falling off.

Oras sighed in annoyance as he formed his stronger form of ice around her wrists and hands, as well as her waist to keep her from falling if she let go. She wouldn't feel the cold from the ice as he was able to do that of course. "There now would you stop complaining?!" He let loose another blast, increasing his speed again. He was almost at maximum speed, so there wasn't much he could do at this point.

Ryse said nothing in reply simply holding on for dear life. The ice that Oras had applied helped, but she wasn't sure how long it would last for. After a while, however, the fear eased away and she lifted her head, opening her eyes. The world was whizzing by faster than she'd ever seen before. Trees were flashing by in a blur, the ice Oras was traveling on was a continuous line that went on forever. She was having a hard time seeing everything clearly, even with her keen eyesight, but the scenery was still pretty.

As the time went on, Ryse fell silent. With no more noise he was able to concentrate. In certain areas he actually enjoyed himself. Dodging obstacles while moving at high speeds. This was something he missed. At one point he even drew his sword, now adjusted to the unnatural weight of someone on his back, and began slashing at fruit, trees, and other such things as they traveled past. When they left the forest, entering the mass amounts of plains the country was made of, they were able to speed up since there were no other obstacles to worry about. As night fell, he could feel Ryse falling asleep.
....When she woke up, she would see the massive mountain range coming into view. With no signs of slowing down.

The Church Grim/Phoenix hybrid was always an early riser. Her internal clock was set up so that she quite literally rose with the sun, as the yearning for the bright star's light to return waned with each passing hour, so that when the sun finally did crest over the horizon she stirred from sleep, automatically awoken by the feeling of her fire flaring in response to the sun's rays.
She grumbled sleepily, stirring. It felt nice, feeling the sun's warmth on her, the wind rushing past her- Wait. Wind didn't blow in her bedroom unless she left the window open, and her bed didn't move. Blinking open her eyes, she saw that she wasn't in her bed in her dorm room. She was still on Oras's back, her head was resting on his shoulder, and.... the Atronach was still running? How had she managed to hold on all this time?! But more importantly, how long had he been running for?!
Lifting her head to look at Oras, disbelief could be seen in her blue eyes. "Oras? Have you been running all this time?" Maybe they took a break for the night? She didn't remember being set down, although it was possible she was too deep in her sleep to notice. But her body wouldn't be as sore as it was, like it would be after sleeping in an awkward position. Sleeping on someone's back wasn't exactly comfortable.

Oras could tell Ryse was waking up by the shift in balance. He almost lost it and fell but recovered quickly enough. While it wasn't ideal for him to carry a girl with him, he wanted this trip over with swiftly. He didn't like the idea of walking there, just the two of them without anyone else. He could barely manage thirty minutes with her in a room! There was no way in hell he was wasting anymore time with this. When she spoke up he cocked an eyebrow, though she wouldn't have seen it. "...Yeah? I don't need sleep food or rest, so may as well use the time. If I need extra energy I just use the dry ice I've packed with me." Had she really not caught onto the fact that he only felt fatigue and pain when he was hit by unnatural fire?
"Still, good thing you're awake. Hold on tight, cause I have to use both arms for this." With that warning out of the way he took a deep breath, let go of her, and held both hands out. In that instant, the path of ice shot forward a long distance... Before curving sharply up into a massive ramp... In the direction of the mountain. Oras grinned before he shifted his arms to point behind him, and began using his power to keep their maximum speed continuous as they fought against gravity.. Heading closer to the ramp with each second.
