welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Ryse was confused at first at what he meant by that. But upon seeing the mountains up ahead, the ramp leading up to it. It clicked in her mind, and her eyes snapped wide open, suddenly wide awake. "O-Oras, we're not going to jump over the mountains, are we?! That's not possible! We'll crash!" She tightened her grip on the Atronach, fright coursing through her. What was he thinking! He was suicidal, that was what he was! She didn't know if she actually could permanently die, or if she'd respawn, but she didn't want to find out today!

He could feel, practically taste the rising fear coming from the Phoenix Grim hybrid. When she cried out he laughed loudly enough for her to hear. "You live in a world of magic, shades, and many things that you people didn't realize were even possible in the ancient past and you think I can't handle this? Well go ahead and scream if you want, I'm gonna have a blast!" And with that, as they neared the edge of the ramp he shot six more blasts in the next four seconds before one last strong one as they skyrocketed up into the air. "WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!" Oras held his arms out, glee and joy on his face. This was what he lived for! Action, the adrenaline, the feeling of going on an adventure! He hoped and prayed his summoner would one day go with him on trips like this...
They were airborne for at least five to six minutes. They soared high in the sky, passing by the peak. As they rose, Oras looked to the left with a smile as he looked over at the horizon. The view was always amazing up high... After the nice view he turned his attention downward with a smirk. They began to descend.
Oras didn't do much as they descended, other than position them head first so he could control their direction better, as well as build up the momentum. As they dived, reaching terminal velocity, he pulled out a chunk of dry ice and Ryse would see it be sucked into his hand, his skin glowing temporarily. He closed his eyes, gave a deep breath. Then opened them with a shine across his eyes. He shot his arms out, forcing them instantly from a head dive to a foot first dive. He conjured another ramp on this end of the mountains, and the two of them ended up sliding down it. As it curved from a straight up and down slide to a ramp, his feet took control. When they reached the bottom he let out a blast of power to skyrocket forward, continuing on their way.

Scream Ryse did. For a full minute as they soared over the mountain range. She held onto him with a death grip, face pale with fear. But after the first minute she began to relax. While she was afraid what would happen if she fell - and how long she would have to transform into her hybrid form before she hit the mountains below her - she couldn't deny that the view was fantastic. It was much different seeing it while flying than while seeing it on an airship. A small smile graced her face, and glancing at Oras she saw that the Atronach seemed to be enjoying it too.
It didn't mean that the trip down towards the ground was any less terrifying. Hurtling towards the ground at an immeasurable speed tended to do that to her. She didn't scream this time, but she did hold onto him with a death grip yet again. When they safely landed on the ground, she breathed a heavy sigh of relief. After several minutes of just traveling on the ground, Ryse felt the call of nature. Both from the surrounding forest they were currently running in, and her own biological needs. "Oras." She said. Got no response. Tried again. "Oras." She frowned as it seemed like the Atronach hadn't heard her again. Took a deep breath.
"ORAS I GOTTA PEE! SO UNLESS YOU WANT ME TO GO ON YOU, YOU'D BETTER PUT ME DOWN RIGHT NOW!!!"

Everything had been planned out from the beginning. Every ounce of ice, every inch of land, every ounce of weight he needed to bring with him. It was all carefully calculated. He had prepared for just about anything.
Except one thing.
Hearing her scream that he reacted as any sane person would in this situation. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" He waited to see if she was serious before growling and roaring out his frustrations as he shifted his body to allow for them to skid to a halt. It was a quick halt, and when the did he not so subtly shattered the ice keeping her arms and waist in place, letting her fall to the ground and pointed to the words. "YOU BETTER DO IT FAST."

Ryse scowled at Oras as she tumbled to the ground, brushing off dirt and leaves off her clothes. "Well what did you expect me to do? We've been traveling for a day and a half! I'm not an Atronach like you are! You should have expected this. I'm also going to change out of these dirty clothes, so don't peek or else I'll melt you!"
She stood there glaring at Oras until she was sure he would do the decent thing and turn around and allow her some privacy. Even then, when he turned around she went behind a bush and did her business. There was no way she would let her mother see her in dirty, sweaty clothes. Plus, she just felt gross after having traveled all this way nonstop. Once she was done changing and other business she stepped back out.
She was now wearing a short sleeved red shirt and a pair of shorts. The temperature here was different than in Mistere. Even in winter it was much warmer, and the humidity was nearly always high. She took a breath of air, smiling as she looked around. She had missed this. The scenery here was also different than in Mistere, and while to someone who hadn't been to Hisakawa before the plants around them would look foreign, to her they simply reminded her of home.

He did NOT want nor need the description of what she would be doing right now and it only made him worse. Ice exploded from his position as he glared at her, his eyes glowing brightly and dangerously. "I'M NOT A PERVERT YOU STUPID MORON NOW GO!" He conjured up a wall of ice and literally shoved her into the forest before he sat down and shut his eyes tight. He was using every ounce of his mental strength not to blush right now. He wished he could just freeze her solid and take her like that...

Ryse smiled in amusement at the Atronach sitting cross-legged on the ground, eyes squeezed shut. Took a step forward. And tapped on his forehead with a finger three times. "Okay, Mr. Sensitive. You can open your eyes now."
She'd stuffed her dirty clothes in the bag, and she wasn't wearing her jacket anymore. That was in the bag as well. There was no need for it here, where the humidity made the temperature feel at least ten degrees warmer than in Mistere. She could comfortably walk around now that the air was warmer. She wouldn't be needing it again until they left to head back to the school. She was wearing a short sleeved shirt and a pair of shorts. She laughed a little that Oras's reaction would be so extreme. It was like he was shy or something.

He felt her touch his forehead and opened her eyes. When he saw her in the shorts and short sleeved shirt he wished he hadn't looked. And instead he wished he had just grabbed her wrist and shot forward. "Sensitive my ass, I'm pissed cause we're running LATE NOW!" Speaking of which. He leaped to his feet, grabbed her wrist, and made three powerful blasts, launching them like a rocket forward, not giving her time to prepare. The path reforged and the two of them sped off once again.

"Hey- WAAAH!" The words she was about to say was cut off as she was suddenly whisked off her feet once again, Oras dragging her along until she managed to grab ahold of him and cling to his back once again. "We're only late by a few minutes, idiot!" She shouted over the sound of the wind. Her mother didn't even know they would be arriving anyways. Getting there a few minutes late wouldn't hurt anything.
Another day and a half of travel, Ryse finally saw the familiar structure of her home coming up into view. A beaming smile lit up her face, and without waiting for Oras to stop she launched off of the Atronach, shifting into her hybrid form and shooting forwards towards the house, flying as fast as her wings could carry her. The building wasn't large in the least, only being a single story. It was rather small, but well made. It was obvious that the home was hand made, and even though it wouldn't be apparent to an outsider, her keen eyes could still see slight damage where those bullies had vandalized the house. She flew around the house, sniffing the air, her tongue lolling out of her mouth in excitement. She could definitely smell her mother's scent, but couldn't locate exactly where she was.
"Mom! Mom!" She called excitedly. Upon waiting a few minutes, flying around, and receiving no answer, Ryse's smile disappeared. Landing on the ground, she tilted her head in confusion. "Maybe she's out hunting?" It was possible. They rarely bought food unless they couldn't catch that much to last them. Mostly they hunted or grew their own food.

Eventually, with some directions and more energy wasting, they finally made it to their destination. Oras was panting at this point but was fine with it. While Ryse ran off in her hybrid form like a puppy. He opened his bag and found one last chunk of dry ice. Oh well, it lasted him at least. He absorbed it and returned to full strength once more. He began to scan the area now as he heard Ryse start calling out for her mother. Then he noticed something.. There were tracks that came out of the home. But nothing going back in. That meant that, according to Ryse's rising worry, that either she was late... Or she was being attacked by those bullies she mentioned. Oras wasn't about to take the chance. Sprouting his massive, demonic shaped ice wings, he launched into the air and scouted the area... Sure enough, fire in the distance.
He landed and made the full transformation. Entering his true form which had terrified Ryse during their own battle. "Better stay here Ryse. Don't wanting you getting caught in the crossfire and wetting yourself." Oras shot like a rocket towards his target... Or rather several miles away was where he originally headed, in case Ryse decided to chase after him. If she did, he'd shatter into crystals after he was out of her sight. Stealthly moved back on course, and continued on his way. Soon enough, he found her. Surrounded by seven phoenixes. Oras shattered into fragments, shifting into form two ice, making him both a liquid and a solid at the same time. Wanting to shatter their puny minds and terrify them since he was literally half their weakness now.
He split in two, his two sides moving around the mother and reforming in front of her. Standing taller than usual at nine feet rather than seven eleven. His wings shot out and up, spreading out as well as his arms and tail. A blast of cold and water shot out, hitting all of the phoenixes. His glowing eyes narrowed and he spoke with his demonic voice: "Run now and I promise only to beat you to near death."

Ryse moved to follow him, flying after him, wanting to help. It was her mother that was in trouble! But after she lost sight of him, she couldn't track his scent, and so returned dejected to where the house was.
Ariza Azar screeched in rage, flames rising towards the sky as she glared at the Phoenixes dead set on attacking her. She was like a living flame, her feathers and wings ablaze as she stared down the seven who were surrounding her. Four had darker colored feathers, which identified them to her as moon phoenixes. The other three were just as brightly colored as she was. "Do you really think Vissarion would look on your actions and think you to be good Phoenixes? Worthy of being left alive after what you've done?!" She screed, eyes narrowed into slits.
"You're the one Vissarion looks down upon." One of the Phoenixes sneered. "We've only torched the living place of a monster. Both you and the creature you call your hatchling are stains on this race. You taint your bloodline by letting that creature live."
"Did you really think your 'hatchling' would ever truly be one of us? It tries, so very hard. But it simply can't, because it's not. And it will never will be." A second stated coldly.
A third one stepped forward, which was shot by a blast of fire from the older phoenix. The one cried out in pain and backed away but didn't flee. It glared at her, pain on its face. "I wonder.... you may revive after death. But will that precious mutt you've raised? How about we go find out? It should be quick work taking care of you. And once we find it, we'll kill it. Slowly. If it revives, we'll just keep doing so over and over again until it begs for mercy. And we'll make you watch."
It was at that moment that Oras had intervened, spraying the phoenixes with cold and water. The flaming birds screeched in surprise and pain, all except for Ariza who watched the newcomer with narrowed eyes. She was unsure if this new person was a threat to her as well, or if it came to help her. "Who are you?" She demanded.
The seven phoenixes had heard Oras's statement, but did not leave as they were told. Instead they simply launched themselves at both him and Ariza.

When Ryse's mother asked who he was he simply laughed. "Oh come now. Did your daughter not describe me in her letters?" When no one backed off he grinned. Or he would have if his mouth wasn't covered. "Don't say I didn't warn you." His right hand flexed and he summoned his sword into it. However it wasn't a simple three foot sword anymore, but now six feet to match his new size. Not only that but it was now glowing light blue and covered in a sheet of frost. Oras rushed at the center phoenix so fast he was almost swifter than the blink of an eye. Ryse's mother may have fought in the war, but she was getting old. She was tired. These kids even though green were young and full of energy. However so was Oras.
And he was more experienced than they'd ever be.
His sword thrust through the first one's left wing and completely hacked off the second one. He then sent a torrent of ice piercing into it's back with enough force to send it into the mother, pushing her out of the way from the other phoenix's attacks. One down. He still had a few seconds before they recovered from his assault and retaliated, so he figured he would attack from the sides. He flew into the air above them and threw his sword between them and the mother. When it pierced the ground a wall of energy launched up from it and he landed on their side of the wall, creating twin swords of ice before rushing back into the fray.
With the last of his surprise he slashed one of the phoenix's across the wings, chest, legs, and finally head before flexing his left hand, shattering the sword and sending it's shards through the phoenix he was fighting and towards the next one. His eyes flashed with a dangerous rage and power. Showing them they were very very wrong to cross someone like him. Just as they recovered, he shifted his form into form four ice. His fire resistance form. Two out of seven, possibly three. He wondered if they were going to be stupid or smart, only one way to find out.

Ariza may be rusty from not having to fight for so long, but it didn't mean she was any less experienced. When the wall was conjured she simply flew over it, shifting into a human and unsheathing the sword at her hip. The metal flashed in the sunlight, and as the first two phoenixes turned to ash by the newcomer's hand she slashed her own weapon down onto a third as she dived towards it, slicing through feathers, skin and bone. Ever since the creatures gained the power to shapeshift she learned how to fight in her human form just as well as she could in her true form.
The bird she fought against - the one who'd threatened to murder and torture her daughter - screeched in agony as his blood coating the ground, a deep slash in his back. He tried to snap his beak at her, but she rolled out of the way, rising in a quick movement and giving the bird another slash, this time to the face. As he shied away from her, one eye now blinded, she transformed back into her phoenix form and grabbed the assailant in her talons, picking him up and flying high into the air. The other bird tried to escape, but her talons pierced into his side, preventing him from doing so as it would only cause more pain. Once they were high enough she hovered in the air, looking at her now captured prey. The bird, whose wing was broken, was now pleading with her to let him go.
She narrowed her eyes at him, studying him for several long seconds, before replying. Her voice crackling with fire. "If you ever come near me or my daughter again, I will give you more than just a broken wing and a blinded eye." With that she let him go, just like he wanted, hearing him scream as he plummeted to the ground. Birds couldn't fly with a broken wing, after all. Death was imminent. Maybe he'd make better decisions when he was reborn.
Once she saw the body of her opponent hit the ground and turn to ash she turned her attention back to the other three left yet to be defeated, diving back down to rejoin the fray.

When the mother turned around to target the remaining three, she found them scattered and dead. Oras had spotted the movement of the woman leaping over the wall and laughed in enjoyment. It was great to fight with someone again! He shot forward like lightning and reached his left hand out. As he passed one of the remaining three his talons dug into its chest. He swung it in an arc over his head, burrowing his talons deep in its body. While his hand was melting that was actually part of the plan. He let the body slide out of his hand coming crashing down onto the ground, and Oras instantly turned his melted fingers into form seven ice. Turning the inside of the creature instantly into eight hundred degrees, killing it from the inside out.
This happened in a second. The next one took two. Oras flew towards his next target in a zig zag pattern, dodging the fire blasts from the two. He passed the fist one, striking it's wings with his tail. Swooping by his sword he grabbed it, deflected the next fireball, and stabbed it's side. The cut was the full length of its sword, the piercing strike nearly cutting it's body in half. However he froze the edges so it wouldn't bleed out, therefore dying a very cold and painful death. Speaking of which, he cut off it's wings for some excess humility and froze the wounds there too.
Just before she turned around Oras unleashed a fury of power, dropping the temperature around his final target to below freezing. Stunned and unable to do anything now, Oras sent an icicle through the head of his final victim. As the body fell with a thud, Oras turned to look at the woman while transforming back into his human shape with a massive grin. A look of excitement in his eyes. "Aaaah, it feels SO great to fight along side someone who.. Well can fight. It's been far too long." He sheathed his sword which also reshaped and walked over to her. "Your daughter says hi by the way."

The Phoenix was silent as she looked the now human ice creature standing in front of her. She was still in bird form, her eyes narrowed in suspicion. She glanced at the three piles of ashes that still lay on the ground, then looked back at him. If her daughter's letters had been accurate, the creature standing there was an Atronach, and his name was Oras. She also remembered that her daughter mentioned that he had been a jerk to her in the beginning, but was somehow nicer now. She wasn't sure what to think of this.
"Why are you here? Has something happened to my daughter? Did the school send you as its messenger?" Part of her wanted to fry him for being a jerk to Ryse. The other part of her wanted to hear him out.
