welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

His name was Asahi Yuuto. His first name meant Ray of light on the shore, his last name meant helping humanitarian. And when it came to it- that was what Yuuto considered himself. A HUMANitarian. He did his work for humanity and he did it well. No other species mattered as much in his eyes. He had been working for a long time. And was a stellar hunter. And yet even after all this time his prey still eluded him.
But the last time he’d nearly gotten close it was because his son- no- that creature hadn’t been alone. It had a weakness to be exploited. A pacifist blood devil. He had called his contacts to hear if there was anyone who might know of any such a thing, and had been told that he would be meeting a man here today.
He was a strong man, bulked up to the extremes despite being in his fifties, with greyed hair and a stubbly chin. At his waste was a silver sword in its sheath, and at his back was a a bow and quiver filled with a variety of arrows, the phoenix fire arrows hard to mistake for anything else given their brilliant red and orange hues. His keen green eyes were scanning the crowd, looking for a man with the description he had been given.
Yuuto was always armed and ready to fight any unholy creature that might be unfortunate enough to give him even half a reason to strike.

His name was Askel which could mean a divine cauldron or the father is peace, it really depended on who you asked, but both suited his purposes. The man was someone who fought to keep the world peaceful by taking out anything that needed to be taken out and occasionally made a pretty penny doing so. Compared to the beasts he brought down? Askel was absolutely divine, even if he was far from an angel and had very fleshly vices. He'd long ago ditched his surname as there was no reason for such a thing, he would never marry nor be a true father, such things would distract from his job, no one would inherit his name.
Right now, the human male had one thing on his mind and the fact this sounded related was the only reason he had come out of hiding. As he waited in the corner of the café, he looked at his phone once more, the image on it reminding him of what he had to do. Setting it down on the table he sighed pinching his nose as his sharp brown eyes focused on the image of Nyx and himself. Back than, he had for a brief moment in thought the original job he had been hired for was actually possible, that he could make an upstanding citizen out of the monster. However, Askel had since come to the conclusion that ever so slowly the beast was starting to rear its head again and one day the pacifism he trained her in would shatter and she'd be just as dangerous as the first day he met her.
Oh Askel could remember that so well, tracing his hand over the several very visible scars on him from the battles he'd had with that cursed woman. He should have killed her when she was out, but he knew it wasn't that easy, no matter what realm he brought her to it seemed she ended up as an immortal species that somehow resurrected in blood.
Looking up he finally caught sight of who he was here to meet, waiting to be approached.

Upon spotting the man, Yuuto walked over to where he was sitting and stood across from him. “Would you be Askel?” Of course Yuuto knew that he was of course. But he was trying to have some semblance of politeness.

Brown optics looked forward as the other man, who appeared as if he may be around the same age as himself, finally stood across from him. So this was truly the man his business associate had spoken of when telling him another hunter was seeking him out. "Yeah, sit down, whatever this is, it must be swift." Not that he didn't like people as the man was normally fairly social, often enjoying company even when taking care of that beast. "I have a problem of my own to deal with sadly or I'd be more polite." but with Nyx seeming to start behaving as she once had again at least in how calm she was becoming? Askel knew he likely did not have much time before the conditioning he'd put her under would wear off and she'd be willing to take life again.

Quick to business. That suited the vampire hunter just fine, he thought as he sat down. “I have been searching for a particular vampire for a long time, and have seen that he seems to have some sort of association with your blood devil. I was wondering if you knew anything about her current whereabouts, so I might be able to find him.” If they were as close as Yuuto hoped, if he could find the girl he’d find the shell of a creature that looked like his son. And finally put an end to him.

Askel sighed visibly, pinching the bridge of his nose again as the biggest mistake of his life was brought up to him once more, 'his' blood devil, that monster was not his expect to finally put an end to her. Luckily though, the involvement of Nyx allowed him to be helpful to the other male considerably. "When I noticed that the original mission of making her an upstanding citizen was never going to remain a success I dropped her off at Eldritch Academy." even if it was violent, at the very least it could channel the violence that was going to emerge from her soon anyway, giving him more time before she became truly dangerous to the world or worse yet found a way to retrieve her memories and tried to bring that dark god of hers to this realm. "From what I've collected since she's being cared for by the occult studies teacher, so if she's been around your vampire, it has to be around there somewhere, she hasn't strayed far, I made sure she wouldn't." years of conditioning meant that unless she regained her memories she would do everything possible to remain right around where he left her, praying he'd come back for her. It was ironic to have a woman who had nearly killed him dozens of times now waiting on him like a lost puppy while he plotted their final battle.
"And make no mistake, I have no attachment to that thing, it's not my daughter, Nyx was the subject of a paying job." the male grumbled his comment slightly, flicking through his phone to find information he hadn't needed for over a decade. Knowing that that beast was likely in this other hunter's way? Askel could not let the man go in blind to what he was actually facing. "Also, if it's between you and your prey, you'd be best to give distance until she's out of the way." he took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, hitting them against the table to loosen it so he could put one in his mouth but stop short of lighting it, looking out the window. "It's no typical Blood Devil, that beast is more dangerous than it seems, but it's not due to your skill or any such thing. From what I hear you're highly praised." pretty much as greatly praised as he was, a hunter of equal caliber to be respected not sent to slaughter against something like that devil. "Here." he slid his large screen phone across the table for the other man to glance at. Within the picture album he had opened? Were numerous images of wanted posters for Nyx in her prior state, photographs of disseminated bases, massacred villages, burnt out masses, and even a few of the woman herself in battle that had cost him a few scars to get. "She doesn't remember who she really is, nor what she is capable of, but make no mistake that ability is still inside her, and no doubt will emerge to protect her should she truly believe her life is in danger." if Asahi tried to go through Nyx to kill the vampire, it could be a very bad ending.
Chewing on the end of his cigarette he looked back towards the other man. "I'll get her out of your way quickly as I can, but no matter where I take her, that demonic beast ends up immortal." it was very difficult to kill an immortal and now that she was a blood devil, containing her was even more difficult as she could teleport via any blood even her own. "Please don't provoke her, wiping her memory may not work a second time and if she regains her memories, we could have more monsters on our hands as she alongside others followed a chaotic god before I pacified her." with the underhanded method he had used to subdue her the man didn't doubt that one versus one honor would be out the door should she remember what he'd done. "Even if she doesn't summon others or regain her memories, Nyx herself as you can see, is bad enough, nearly every single scar I have is from that thing. If it wasn't for the spells I cast prior I would never have survived a single encounter. So I've been searching for a new way to at least contain her, or should she regain her memories, keep her busy, until I can figure out how to kill that cursed warrior for good." but options were limited.

Yuuto looked over the pictures with a keen eye. A deadly foe indeed. While Yuuto had been known to go after the occasional demon or two, his primary quarry were vampires. Usually, if they were doing it right, they were subtle hunters. This level of carnage was uncommon in all but the most audacious and ravenous vampire nests. He’d been trying to root out Bloods of Mysterie for awhile now, but had found difficulty with that too. They were as clever as their kills were bloody.
“Eldritch Academy huh…” He wondered if his boy really had gone to work for that repugnant school full of freaks and abominations. He couldn’t really see it. But he would consider it a possibility. Getting close to that school without reason though, would prove no easy task. Maybe it was about time he enrolled his new daughter in a few classes… “I’ll avoid a direct confrontation with her if you think that this is best… The only request I give is that you avoid killing the vampire in question if he’s with her at the time. He is mine and mine alone to kill.”
Yuuto pulled out his own phone and showed the man a picture of his son back when he was human. This one had been taken a few weeks before Yuuki had been turned. They had gone out on a family camping trip that had gone a bit sour by the end. But even so Yuuto remembered it fondly as one of the last times his family had been together. Yuuki had paused to take a selfie of himself and the spectacular mountain range behind him. His smile threatened to rival the sun itself in that picture. It was his mother’s smile. And though father and son shared the same colored eyes, it was his mother’s eyes that glimmered with light and joy in that moment.
Yuuto had deleted and destroyed many a picture with Yuuki in it. Their family album looked like someone’s ex had gotten to it and scratched out all the faces they didn’t like. But he knew he had to keep at least a few of them in order to show people what he looked like.
And this one was hard to rid himself of for some reason. “Make no mistake, this was back when he was human. He’s far more dangerous now than he was then.”
Often times he wished he could get a better picture of Yuuki. One that made him look a little bit more threatening so people would believe him when he said that this child had turned out to be a dangerous vampire with multiple lives slain by his hands. But of course, you couldn’t exactly take a picture of a vampire.

Eldritch Academy was indeed quiet the disgusting place, but it was also slightly necessary for teaching new hunters the sort of world they would truly face, one that didn't realize how much danger it was letting it, a world that needed heroes like the two of them more than ever. "The potion only worked on her memories, she still has the feelings she once did." he elaborated slightly, as it was clear the hunter was willing to work with what he was given, devoted to the cause rather than pride. "So direct confrontation will rouse them, hitting her from behind doubly so as that's what I had to do in order to bring her down." Askel did not want to currently know how violently she would react to being hit from behind once more, especially since her feelings of honor were intact. "The most important thing is if you end up forced to fight her in anyway, battle her emotionally that is the way she is least used to defending herself. She may be capable of all that, but emotionally she's insecure and weak towards herself, especially without her god." after-all, no matter how long she had lived the girl had first died as a teenager thus her emotional state had not matured much expect for when she had her god to ground herself to. Nyx knew what she was, it made fighting her emotionally even easier.
"I won't touch yours, though I can't promise not to injure or maim him if he choses to get in my way, he will remain alive until you can kill him." Askel would very well defend himself if he had to, but he carried plenty of poisons he could likely use to immobilize the vampire long enough to get Nyx and go wherever he'd need to take the beast to kill her. "Hmm. Hard to take pictures of those suckers." The male mused out the comment as he looked at the boy, understanding the few basic changes that would have adjusted his appearance with the transformation. If he had been unaware of an ability Nyx herself had he would figure there was no way to ever get a picture of a vampire, but understanding the working of one of her abilities, the hunter suspected he may be able to find someone to help the other with this problem. "I'll look into if any of my contacts have a talent that can capture memories or something. It's not exactly a picture so it may loophole that nasty ability, making it easier for you to make people understand what a monster that thing is." that had to be one of the most annoying abilities to deal with, behind constant teleportation and revival.
Removing the cigarette from his mouth, Askel rolled it between his fingers carefully. "We can keep talking if you want, but I have to get going, I have an appointment to evaluate some containment units to see if they'd found anything capable of restraining her." something that couldn't be teleported out of, projected out of, time traveled out of, was physic energy proof and underworld flame proof.

"That will do." He replied in regards to Askel promising to only maim Yuuki. He just needed to be the one to do the killing blow. That much was his duty as the boy's father.
It seemed they were on the same wave length in regards to this vampire then. That was good. It was good to finally be able to talk with a fellow professional like himself. One that did not get fooled with the often times deceptive looks of their prey. This was a strange world they lived in. One where someone thousands of years old could appear to be a mere child. "I'd definitely appreciate that." Getting an accurate picture of what this creature looked like now would help his cause in finding and killing the boy.
Nothing was ever as it seemed when it came to these inhuman creatures. “I’ll walk with you for a bit then and we can share contact information.” He had a feeling this man would be useful to keep in contact with. Even if he himself had plans in regards to how he might get closer to the creature who had eluded him for nearly fifteen years. “Might I ask what grade you enrolled the devil into?”

It was good that promising simply to not end the vampires life was enough, doubly showing they were on the same page about the danger of these beasts that pretended to be sympathetic or akin to men.
Briefly the man sent a short text on his phone, simply asking a female associate of his to go over the talents of men she had 'worked' with to start seeing what he could find from there. Hopefully? The gorgeous girl would know something that served useful for the two of them, even if the mer was not exactly his favorite person to deal with due to her being inhuman, he understood there were levels of danger. He could endure a merperson to take down things like blood devils, vampires, hellhounds, demons, undead or such. Plus that little fish owed him for saving her from a less than savory client who only wanted her tail meat, not that he hadn't been hunting the banshee anyway first, but still she owed him.
"That sounds good." exchanging contact information would be a good idea since they seemed to be very much on the same wave length. They could serve valuable assets to each other as time went on! Especially considering they were both hunting very slippery prey. "The last year of High School, since she never went through most of high school in favor of violence before her memories were wiped, it was the best bet to keep them at bay to get her into the last year and preset her going to college." She looked young and would need a guardian for beyond that, but the subject matter would not revive any memories within her. Hopefully. Anyway, they were now heading towards the warehouse district where many imports were stored until distributed.

The most annoying thing about inhumans was also something that was going to come in handy for Yuuto in regards to his “daughter.” He had only done the bare minimum legally required for her regular schooling. It was useful to have a chunk of time out of the day where she was out of his hair. Overall she was a well behaved child though.
Odds were she’d struggle in high school, having to skip a few grades. But he could fudge things a little bit. He didn’t need for her to succeed in high school. Just to be there to be his eyes. As well as be his eventual in for separating the blood devil from his vampire. Perhaps getting Yuuki alone somewhere for an ambush.
He had many plans already forming in his head, but none he was yet willing to share with the other man. His pet phoenix was too valuable to reveal to just anyone. As they walked he told the man his number and was at the ready to add Askel’s number within a moment.
After that, he asked in a conversational way, “So, how long were you hunting her before you finally managed to pin her down?”

Adding in the other mans number was simple enough to do, though the hand he used to do was beginning to ache as the day wore on and the weather grew worse aggravating the scars across it. Promptly the mercenary hunter would convey his number in return placing his phone back into the deep pocket of his jacket afterwards. For the moment it seemed the other man was in no hurry to part ways, and he could deal with that easily.
In all the years leading up to the current day he truly had never gotten to talk in depth with anyone to convey the sheer chaotic order of battles that had been required to bring the devil woman down this far. "I hunted that demonic beast every single day for five years." Nyx was by far the longest span of time he needed to expend on simply managing to contain his prey. "She was beyond easy to track down, but after that is when it became complicated." with all the blood shed in the woman's dust it was entirely too easy to keep track of where the beast had been and were she was going. "At first I had to hang back, she was never alone, the army occupied an entire planet and it was simply impossible to fight through all the followers on it to make it to her." Of course, this had first led him to believe the woman knew she was being hunted and had fled to a location she knew to be safe from him, but he had quickly found out that wasn't her style. "That didn't last for but a handful of days before I found her elsewhere at the edge of a nameless village she'd just burned to the ground, than the second problem became painfully evident." He had banked on her being just like the stereotype berserker just the same as many of her comrades and the god she followed. "Every single one of them I encountered before her was strictly a berserker, easy enough to strategize against." though he had never managed to fight the god she worshipped and the army was so numerous he clearly could have never faced all of them. "She was different from the first fight, in spite of my experience and planning, I didn't last more than maybe a few minute's against her." sighing, it was clearly hard for the hunter to admit he had lasted such a short time on his first combat encounter with his prey. "Quickly I found if it wasn't her battle skill, it would be her ability to wield underworld flame, or her physic powers giving her a leg up, not to mention I could never disarm her because he revived her to be a warrior. My only saving grace was the fact I didn't try anything underhanded for long enough to figure out that until I did she'd ask all her comrades including him to keep out of it." Only that fact had given him time to research enough to figure out how he could skirt by her powers at least once to get a clear shot at the back of her head if he could just keep her distracted. He'd only tell that story to the other man if he asked though, but man was it a great tale.

Well. A story like that would make him look like an absolute travesty. He’d never been to another planet in search of his quarry. He only cared about one planet thank you very much. His own story involved trying to catch an eternally teenaged boy who continuously eluded him and forced him to stop wearing ties because he kept stealing them for some goddamn reason.
What the hell was with that even?! There had been a few times Yuuki had even managed to sedate and knock him out from a distance. And Yuuto could always tell it was him, because he’d wake up without his damn tie.
“Must be a hell of a contract to have you go that far.” Yuuto knew that the man was a mercenary. Money was his motivator.

Oh the contract had been one of his best pay outs ever, in fact he hadn't even burned through half of the payment he had received for removing her from that bloody lifestyle, yet. "Easily the highest paying one I've ever received." although at a certain point he was willing to admit his damaged pride had motivated him to keep chasing her down more than the money had. "The girls mother, a group of hunters and a few ex-friends from her old village were so obsessed with saving that monster they paid everything they had, believed whole heartedly the girl was still there deep inside." he had seen numerous times raising her over again, that the monster could surely behave almost as if she was human sometimes. "Sadly, I don't think there was ever actually anything human inside of her." but, even thinking she was a child, Nyx had a darkness inside her that he could see clear as day, something that hadn't just appeared because of walking down the wrong path. "She may have been born in human skin were we came from, but she was a monster on the inside from day one." the male made the comment as he knocked on the front door of one of the ware houses, mentally crossing his fingers in hopes they had found something capable of holding her.

It sounded like this creature had had multiple lives. Just as well Yuuto wasn’t truly going after her. He would leave it up to the man. But perhaps if things went well, he could help Askel out with his plans. It would do well to have a powerful man like this in his debt. But he wasn’t yet going to reveal his own plans for capturing his own prey. That would be revealing one of of his most valuable assets to a complete stranger. “Yes well… I suppose that’s the way with inhumans. And I suppose this is where we should part ways as well.”
Yuuto had walked with him to his appointment, but going in might be a bit far.
