welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

The bakedanuki found herself wandering through the big city again. It was true that there seemed to be no way home for her. Her cousin was unable to send her back, and from what she had gathered in the short time she was here, plane-hopping was nearly impossible. To drown her sorrows a little, she managed to “collect” a bit of money through means of learning the currency and disguising leaves with a little bit of youkai magic as bills. She at least had that left; she could masterfully disguise something and leave the illusion on for a long time. The youkai wore a small blue satchel on her for keeping the leaves and pebbles, something she had “bought” from a shop in Mystopolis.
Izayuki had not yet attempted to shapeshift into something other than her raccoon dog form. She found no need to look human in a world that seemed fairly accepting of many creatures, nor did she really have the strength to transform for long term. As a result, she entered the humble coffee shop as a silver-furred tanuki. She took a seat at a tall table, forcing herself to stand on her hind legs and place her front paws on the table to see the menu. Alongside many varieties of coffees and teas, there were little snacks or desserts to be offered. One label in particular stood out to the hungry bakedanuki-- red velvet cake.
“Red velvet cake and iced tea please,” she ordered once the waiter came by, her voice somewhat hoarse from lack of use. The waiter nodded and went off to fetch the simple combination. She knew she would have to transform for the sake of not eating like an animal, but she was trying to put it off until the last possible moment.

Edgelord Stupidity tagged / notes / etc Inside of the tiny coffee shop activity bustled as the various patrons placed their orders, both of the sitting and to go variety. By one of the windows sat a white-haired woman, pondering over the menu and trying to cope with the arduous day to day activities she took part in. Beside her sat a folder fit to bursting as it overflowed with papers from various students. A pout filled expression lined the lips of the woman as her eyes glanced over the menu, she hadn't the faintest clue what to order. Many of the items weren’t true meals but café snacks, she should have just gone to a proper restaurant rather than this place, but it was close to the office and she had food at home, just second thoughts hit her mind as she debated internally.
While she was engrossed in her decision making the small little silver… thing… placed itself on a table near her and seemed to make an odd order. Normally Erika wouldn’t pay attention to another’s order, but this one caught her attention, it seemed oddly familiar. It was red velvet cake and iced tea, who in their right mind ordered that combination, milk was better with cake than iced tea. Heck coffee was better with cake than tea, especially iced tea, hot tea maybe but it would depend on the brew above all else. Coffee would always work so long as you avoided sugar, sugar was worthless it hid the flavor, unlike cream which helped the flavor. Her eyes snapped to a realization, she knew what to order. Signaling the waiter as he left the small silver rats table Erika gave him a delightful smile.
‘I’m ready to place my order.’
Spinning the menu around Erika pointed to the various choices as she stated them out loud, she didn’t know the IQ of the waiter so she wanted to make sure he understood her. Sadly, it was at times like these she wished the menu had pictures, everyone understood picture books.
‘I’ll have the red velvet cake as well, but instead of iced tea, a horrible choice I might add.’ Erika popped a glare at the little creature, ‘I’ll have black coffee, double cream, but no sugar that will ruin the taste and interfere with the cake. Do you understand?’
The waiter gave a sigh, ‘You realize I’ve taken your order before, several times?’
‘Oh? You have?’
‘Yep, that’s normal too, I’ll go put in that order…’ The man gave of visible frustration as he went to inform the back about the orders, Erika had been here for a few years and had gone to this shop quite a few times and since he was a waiter who had worked here for a few years… well he just understood Erika didn’t bother to learn his name or know his face, especially since he had even been in one of her classes and she still didn’t remember. Regardless Erika noted his attitude as typically of the help and she proceeded to hum a little mocking tune all while occasionally glancing at the strange creature, making sure to subtly show her superiority in the choice of café refreshments.
She also wondered how such a creature would eat cake, like a brute, or could its paws use a fork? That would be amusing to witness and, more importantly, mock.

A familiar voice hummed an order at the table next to her, mocking her choice of snack and drink combination. As the glare was shot in her direction, rose-colored eyes met it with a glare of her own. The white-haired girl ensured the waiter understood her order before he went on to the back to fetch the cakes.
The tanuki turned slightly in her seat to face the girl, a disapproving frown on her muzzle. “Have something against iced tea?” she asked. Perhaps it was better to be silent, and in any other case, Izayuki likely would have kept her peace. However, the calling out of her meal certainly had caught her attention, especially since it was from some stranger who did not know her. Additionally, there was something uncannily familiar about this woman, but the youkai simply could not place it. Perhaps it was someone she had met back in the other world, only it was this world’s version of that person.
The waiter soon brought her snack back out. He set the glass of iced tea and the large slice of red velvet cake with cream cheese icing on the table in front of her before placing a fork next to the plate. Eager to dig in, the bakedanuki decided to finally bother with shapeshifting. It was sloppy, but in a small puff of thin smoke, the bakedanuki had transformed into a woman with long pinkish ginger hair and silver canine ears. She was lacking a tail due to having lost it so long ago. As a result, the preferred body she was using no longer had the beautiful fluffy tail she once loved. The girl wore a basic long-sleeved white shirt, white jacket, and denim shorts. At least she did not have to arrange her tail to sit comfortably in the chair, but the phantom desire to still remained.

Edgelord Stupidity tagged / notes / etc As the little rat thing received its slice of cake and the gross iced tea Erika received her helping second. If the waiter had any class, he would have realized to serve HER first, but since he was just a lowly, thing, she would let it slide and he should be thankful that she was so forgiving of his insolence this time. As Erika took a sip of coffee and formulated the perfect come back to the little rats rude comment, that was totally unjustified and out of nowhere, Erika noticed the rat change into a woman. Oh, now it all makes sense the rat must be expecting.
'Because iced tea is inferior, one does not put ice in tea, the point of tea is to keep it warm little miss peach hair. I understand your plight though, expecting will cause the weirdest of cravings, tell me you are how far along? Six months your time for whatever it is you are?'
Well, all hands to battle stations, this was about to get bad. Erika had just started a war over someone’s taste in a drink, but it was worth it because their taste in a drink was clearly horrible. Princess peach over there didn't understand the majesty of coffee, and thusly didn't understand just how wrong she was, and of course, Erika would need to further hammer home the point.
'Is it a boy or a girl? What's the name?'

The stinging response to come certainly reminded the bakedanuki of someone, but she could not place who it was. Perhaps it was just another bitchy individual, and Izayuki had encountered plenty of those. The pregnancy comment reminded her of something else someone had mentioned at her combination of iced tea and red velvet cake long ago at the inn she had kept. Was it really that odd of a drink and dessert together? It was tempting to fire back at the woman, or perhaps kill her and cook her for dinner later once she was alone. However, the tanuki girl was simply far too tired for that and lacked the energy to bother.
“I’m not expecting,” she stated flatly and softly. She had tried that once. It didn't go well, needless to say, seeing as her own child aborted themselves and their twin.
She took a bite of the red velvet cake. It was mediocre, certainly nowhere near as good as her friend from long ago. She doubted she would ever find quality red velvet cake again, really. Izayuki took a drink of her iced tea before continuing. “If you don’t like iced tea, what would you recommend?” the youkai challenged, gently placing the glass back onto the table. If there something better to drink with red velvet cake than iced tea, she wanted to hear it. Especially since this cafe’s tea was mediocre at best.
