welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

The nephalem was yet again hurrying from his classes, holding his books tightly against himself as he ran. He was trying to be extra careful and avoid people today.. His two natures had spiked as they usually did every month. There was always that one day they just randomly spiked and it just so happened to be today. He didn't want any encounters, didn't want to risk anyone setting them off. How unfortunate for Zekigne that this would not be the case.
The young nephalem saw a crowd of people and his heart rate skyrocketed from the sight. He began trying to weave around the individuals, which he had become better at over time. Practice made progress right? He had to push through a few people unfortunately, but eventually he pushed passed and made it to the... Courtyard? He meant to take the shortcut. Did he take a wrong turn? He stopped and began turning around, trying to remember where the shortcut was. It probably wasn't a shortcut anymore at this point, but it was the most quiet path to his dorm. Less chances of running into someone. Better take his time than risk the chance of his nature's sparking. 'Of course this would be easier if I just-' Zekigne shook his head hard, his eyes closed, to cut off the voice before it could finish.

Anarra stood by one of the benches, hands clasped behind her back - one of the gestures she'd learned from the humans which she was trying to emulate - marveling at the nature around her. Spring was well on its way, and the air was considerably warmer than it had been months before. The snow was gone, and flowers were blooming. Looking at a garden to her right, she leaned forwards and gazed at it, watching with a tiny smile as the flowers brightened in her presence, their colors becoming more vibrant and buds blooming right in front of her eyes. Undoubtedly, spring was her favorite season. Winter was much too cold, and she went dormant during that time. But spring was when she and nearly every plant awoke again. It always made her happy to see the world brighten.
Something rushed past her, and turning away from the flowers, she spotted a familiar blond haired boy standing to her right, looking a little lost. Perhaps she should try to assist him. Straightening, she made her way over to him, trying to give her best smile. Which would look more like a grimace than an actual smile. Usually having a skull for a face meant she didn't have muscles, and she was still trying to get used to using them. At the moment she was practicing being human. "Hello, Zeke. It's me, Anarra. Are you lost? Do you need any assistance? Directions to a classroom?" He had books in his arms... maybe he was trying to remember how to get to one of his classes.

Sitting through the normal classes like math or social studies for examples became much more difficult for the young Blood Devil as the days went by and she couldn't quiet figure out why that was happening. For the day she didn't have to worry about it anymore because she had sat through her last class for the day. Unlike numerous other students who only had to make it across the campus at most to arrive 'home' after classes, Nyx was a special case and had much further to travel back home for the day. Of course, when someone had wings and free range teleportation the trip to the edge of the city was easy, but she often chose to not use those quick fixes to the trip having been discouraged from using her talents or biological features when unnecessary by Askel. Of course, where was he now! For moments as she stood at the corner of the courtyard her wings extended fully intending to fly back home before she heard voices that disturbed her from this.
One voice counted as voices when it addressed someone else who wasn't her. Taking a few jumps with her wings extended she stood on her tip toes behind the two of them, not speaking yet since the boy had not responded to the questions as of that moment.

When someone walked up to him, with a rather... Creepy smile, or what seemed to be an attempt at one, he felt his body stiffen instantly. 'She's probably wanting to hurt me, I should use my powers to-' Zekigne shut his eyes tightly to stop the voice. When he opened them again, the woman was almost right in front of him, which nearly made him jump into the air in itself. She asked so many questions he was a bit overloaded, still trying to remember who this 'Anarra' was. 'B-but wait, I've avoided everyone in the school.. Except.. Two people... Now that I think about it, that deer thing said she was-' His eyes widened as he realized who, or rather what, he was talking to. 'SHE BURNED ME WITH THAT DAMN HOLY FLAME!! IT'S TIME FOR REVE-' He took in a sharp breath as he held a hand against his forehead. To the outside it would look as if he had a headache, even though that wasn't the case at all. "A-a-aahhh, no, that's. That's fine, I can, um, find my way from here. Th-thank you thooo-" His voice trailed off as he saw the flying figure behind Anarra. The figure with, demonic wings. His eyes widened.
'A demon? I can't save demons, I'm not as good as my mother yet! WHY SHOULD I CARE ABOUT SAVING IT?! I SHOULD KILL IT WHERE IT STANDS BEFORE IT KILLS ME!!! SCREW YOU BOTH!!! SHUT UP, JUST SHUT UP!!!!" Zekigne placed both hands on his head, taking two terrified steps back before he tripped. He didn't even have enough time to cry out before the combination of all three nature's screaming in his head and contact with the ground knocked him out.

The hybrid blinked, confused as the boy jumped into the air upon seeing her. Had something she said frightened him? She knew that she looked quite different in this form than she usually did. A 20 ft deer was much more noticeable than a human. Perhaps he hadn't recognized her. Or perhaps it was her attempt to smile... she wasn't quite used to expressing emotions as of yet. "I can revert back to my true form if that would make you more comfortable." She replied, the "smile" dropping from her face.
Hmm... the boy said he didn't need any help... that was a shame. She was looking forward to speaking with him more. Perhaps she could-- what was he looking at? Whatever it was he had seen seemed to frighten him even more than seeing her. Before she could ask what was wrong, Zeke stepped backwards and fell to the ground, knocking himself out.
'Oh dear...'
Kneeling to check on the boy, Anarra turned her head to see what had caused the disturbance in the boy's behavior. A creature with bat wings, horns, and a long tail, it seemed. A vampire? Vampires didn't move about in the sunlight. So some sort of demon or devil, then. She'd encountered some in her forest home; most were more mischievous than harmful, but there were a few she'd had to drive from the forest as they posed a threat to the creatures living there. "I don't know why you're here. But if you've come to harm the boy I will not stand for it." There was no anger in her voice, just a simple warning. She was not so heartless as to attack the young devil outright; the girl had to do something to threaten her or the boy first. She was fond of Zeke, and while the devil in front of her looked rather young, there was no harm in being cautious.

Nyx was beyond used to other's having a frightened or otherwise negative reaction to her presence. Whenever she walked through a crowd? The girl didn't need to fear bumping into other's because no one wanted to be near her at first glance and wanted her around even less after they realized what she was. Nothing about their response broke her small smile nor dropped her spirits because she had seen it millions of times before across her life. Not even the fact she looked as if she was only around seven at the oldest stopped the judgement, and she knew that would never change no matter what she did. Why get upset over something when it would do nothing about the issue? She had absolutely no reason to care about their fear nor swift judgement.
"Oh shit!" the little devil extended her wings taking a quick jump and flap to end up beside the boy who had just hit the ground. While she had many people run off, behave terrified or even behave aggressively because they initially believed her dangerous? Someone actually fainting was not something she encounter frequently, understandably this concerned her because she didn't want to hurt anyone even in a way unintended like this one. "Thank goodness he's not bleeding." it meant she hadn't caused too much damage by scaring the consciousness out of him for just existing in the same space as he did.
Looking at the other girl she could spot the judgement from miles away, the attempt to be cautious while not just outright saying that she believed her dangerous, such fronts were annoying. "Why I'm here? Oh maybe because I go to school here and my mother is the occult studies teacher!" honestly it was weird calling Dawn her mother but legally the older woman had adopted her meaning that in the eyes of other adults, Dawn was her mother. "I know you're not going to believe me, but I'm a pacifist." even for the simply mischievous and less dangerous species of Devil's being truly pacifist was next to unheard of, closely associated species like demonic ones and sucubi or incubi didn't help any either with the dangerous reputation of things with features like hers. "Plus even if I wasn't, an unconscious target or one so scared to faint like that isn't something a Blood Devil is fond of challanging from the few of my kind I've seen." Of course, after admitting her species she realize that it was just going to cast more doubt on her claim on being pacifist, but oh well, it wasn't like the other girl who had already judged her was going to believe it to begin with.

Anarra was silent for a few more moments, studying the young devil. Or, Blood Devil, as she'd called her species. She always had a hard time telling whether humans or other human like creatures were saying the truth or if they were lying. It was easier with animals; their body posture and their thoughts helped her a great deal in that area. For humans, however their facial expressions were more complex. Sometimes they smiled when they were crying, and other times they were frowning even when they should be happy. It was confusing to her.
Perhaps the girl was telling the truth after all. If it was true that blood devils didn't challenge unconscious targets, it meant she didn't have to worry about her. Besides, she didn't know what the word 'Pacifist' meant anyways. She assumed it meant peaceful, but she wasn't sure. She was deeply concerned about the boy anyways, more than she was about the devil, even if her expression didn't show it. The boy's safety was what mattered to her, even above her own.
Inspecting Zeke, she noticed that there was no damage to his skull where he'd hit the ground, and he hadn't suffered any physical injuries that she could see. Transforming into her hybrid form, she caused a small patch of flowers to sprout from the ground around him, blooming a pastel blue. "I don't know why he fainted upon seeing you, and it seems like you two have never met before. He's always been fearful, but never has he reacted this way to someone. It's rather concerning to me." She was silent, thinking, before continuing. "If you wish to speak to him, I would suggest standing behind me out of sight so that I can calm him first when he wakes." She was sure she would be able to protect Zeke if the devil turned out to be lying. There wasn't any harm in letting her talk to him.
The flowers, when they bloomed, would release a scent of blueberries that would wake any person that was unconscious. Perhaps him seeing her as a deer rather than a human would help deescalate the situation. Plus, she wasn't sure if Zeke seeing the devil child again would cause another faint or if his fears would increase substantially. When the boy would start to awaken, Anarra would gently nuzzle his hair. "Are you alright? You fainted."

If Zekigne could make it happen. He would trade sleep for unconsciousness every single night. At that point his twin natures wouldn't haunt him in nightmares or dreams. He would just, be out. No thoughts, no dreams. Just resting. He wished he could have that every day. As he drifted back to consciousness, he groaned. Stirring slightly as his body began to move again. When he opened his eyes he saw a massive skull and nearly freaked out... When he recognized it. After his initial jolt he stopped moving and just stared at her. "A-Anarra?" He asked, trying to push himself up to a sitting position. "W-what ha... Where..." He looked around and remembered. He was in the courtyard... With other people... Including a 'DEMON'! Zekigne grabbed his head with both hands, which resulted in him losing his balance and rolling back onto his back. However he didn't hit his head this time.
"Ah, listen," he said as he scrambled to his feet. "I-I should probably get going. N-need to go back to my room and-" when he stood up he saw Nyx and jumped in shock, his books falling again. He didn't move for a good while, afraid Nyx would figure out he was half demon and kill him for it. He didn't realize she was a devil, not a demon. But at the same time, he wasn't even considering she was. All he knew was the fear that he would be found out. And that something bad would happen.

She had been standing with her back to the skull headed creature, actually being content not to stare directly at an exposed skull as it gave her weird feelings. What was this sensation in her chest at the sight of a skull devoid of any flesh? Nyx couldn't say she remembered feeling it before, but it was not at all unpleasant. The little Devil was just a bit concerned as to what having a positive sensation in response to seeing such a thing meant for her continued pacifism. Absolutely stilled behind the larger beast she could hear clearly when he freaked out again ending up on his rump again because he feared her without reason.
"Coward."
The female seethed out the world, rolling her eyes as she ignored the urge she had to simply end his life so he wouldn't have anything to fear anymore, that wasn't what she was. "You quiver over my mere presence, shove yourself into utter blackness, for no reason. I'm a pacifist." with that comment she stepped out from behind turning on her heel to face him again, pure white hair bouncing with the movement. "Plus, even if I wasn't as a Blood Devil I have a handler, the big guy standing in the hall back there with a tranquilizer gun. I can't do a thing to you even if not for the fact I don't have any desire to in the first place." well actually that last part was quiet the lie she was currently actually picturing what he would look like missing a few limbs but suppressing those idea's was day to day life for her.

Feared her without reason. This might have been true for most individuals, but not with Zekigne. There were many assumptions being thrown between the two due to ignorance of what the other was. He thought she was a demon, not a devil, thus reacted in fear. She thought he was an ordinary person when he was in fact a nephalem, thus she thought he was a coward. When he heard her call him a coward he looked down, trying to avoid eyesight. 'HOW DARE SHE CALL ME COWARD!!!' His right arm twitched, heat emitting from it for a split second before Zekigne regained control. When she started lecturing him and calling herself a pacifist, his nature grue stronger. 'A demon of deception. She's lying! No demon is a pacifist!' When she said the words 'blood devil' however. He gave a sharp gasp as his body tensed up. And when she finished speaking, he gave a very, long, exhale of relief as he slumped against the wall. Extremely drained from his terror, but very clearly no longer terrified.
"I, I'm sorry I didn't.. I wasn't afraid because... I thought you were.. Someone else... I'm sorry, please forgive me.."

Nyx could care less for what someone was, if they behaved like some coward that was exactly what they were in her opinion regardless of their species. Though, she didn't know where these idea's of cowardice and judging it were coming from not too long ago she had never believed such things, it had all started shortly after she met that desire demon. What had that monster done to her? The young girl couldn't even ask for help as it felt eerily natural to think that way as if sometime long ago that had been exactly how she saw the world. Faintly she remembered having arguments as a little girl with Askel over what was cowardice and what wasn't, he seemed so tired with her after each one.
"Eh, to be slightly more fair, the rest of my species is extremely dangerous and blood thirsty to the point they kill each other in greeting. I'm just different because I was raised by a human, I don't know another devil like myself." and she had met her fair share when visiting bracklethorne to learn about her own kind since she had known nothing about them before that day. Spinning on her heel she tip toed over to one of the raised garden beds plopping herself down on it to look up at the sky. "Honestly, I've no clue how the others managed to assimilate enough to even secure their bloody jobs, but it's whatever. I want to work somewhere that helps people instead of hurting them." something in her stomach dropped at these words as if she was lying even though she believed it to be the truth. Zeke was slightly right in a sense about deception, her true nature was bloodier than she had any phantom of but she just couldn't remember it. "Anyway, not everyone is a stereotype you judged me on my appearance thinking I was something else, but you'll loose out on a lot of friends that way." she was happy again, giggling slightly at her observation kicking her feet as the raised bed was taller than her legs, wings extended to warm in the sunlight.

Zeke's behavior certainly worried the hybrid. Even if he'd thought the devil was someone else, who was the 'someone else' he was afraid of? Perhaps it was someone who endangered him. If that was the case, she would teach the offender a lesson. At the moment, however, she had nothing to go on other than his words. She made a mental note to discuss this in more detail with him later, when they were alone. She saw no reason to speak of such personal matters in front of another student.
When the devil flopped down onto the garden, a spike of anger arose, the flames on her back flaring red. Manipulating the plants around her, Anarra would tap the devil's shoulder to get her attention, then made a 'shooing' motion for her to get off of the flowers, snorting and stomping a hoof on the ground. Irritation was clear in her voice, though she wouldn't be able to express this on her face. "Please do not be so rough with the plant life. They are not your resting place. They are living beings just like you or I."
Laying on grass? Or a tree branch in a tree? She was fine with. Laying on a garden bed where flowers were growing and being flattened / killed them by flopping on them like the devil had done? Was not. Having lived in her forest home for many years, she was quite protective of nature and wildlife in general. Anyone who would harm the innocent plants growing in the gardens was going to make her unhappy. Plus, being made of plants meant she knew what they needed to survive, as knowing this information affected her own well being also. They needed sunlight, water, air, and plenty of love and care. Whoever was in charge of the gardens here was already doing a pretty good job of it. "If you wish to warm your wings in the sun, you can rest on the bench right in front of the garden." A bench may not be as comfy as a garden bed. But a bench wasn't a living thing. It didn't die when creatures laid on it.

Hearing Nyx describe the blood devils caused him to shiver but he wasn't letting it get to him too much. She told him he was a pacifist, so he wanted to trust her. 'The poor girl must go through such a hard time. I wonder if there's anything I can do to hel-' Zekigne shook his head, shaking the thoughts away. She continued stating how he judged her on her appearance and mistook her for someone else. How he would lose friends that way. '...I kind of have to have friends to lose them... Even though I want friends, I shouldn't. I'd only endanger them...' Suddenly the deer girl snapped angrily at Nyx which made Zekigne jump out of shock. When the voices overwhelmed him again he grabbed his head with both hands as if he were in pain before letting go again. He looked at Nyx. "...I said I was sorry..."

Nyx actively tried to be different than other devil's but part of her was actually just like them outside of her knowledge, she mourned not for the little plants even though she hadn't actually killed any, this time. Whoever the other chick was could cry over it all she wanted, but beyond the reaction Askel had conditioned into her she didn't care for tears unless she was exceptionally close to the induvial, screams were more her style. The girl would lie without knowing it if ever asked, she didn't believe the truth. Blue optics focused in on the deer before the devil shrunk down into a foot tall cat and quickly climbed the tree at the end of the large garden bed, flopping herself down at the end of a branch promptly.
Large red optics looked down on the pair, gauging the reactions and what was going on, to be fair she actually wanted some space from the boy. He kept flickering intentions and such, she didn't know what to make of it considering she'd been discouraged in the past from actively understanding how her mental powers of sensory worked. Actually, it was giving her a slight head ache. "If you ever encounter another devil, don't try the 'living like you and I' line on them alright? No offense but I actually am warning you for your own good, if you want to save plants never tell a Blood Devil that, I may give a damn but I don't doubt the others would go on a plant massacre and try to get blood to drink from a plant." Luckily she doubted the two would ever encounter another of her kind considering the specialized work done by the others rarely crossed paths with a normal law abiding citizen, a happy smile crossing her face at that thought. "I mean I suppose they have their own sort of blood..... I wonder if we can drink that...." the feline was clearly thinking now, debating if plant blood counted as real blood to her stomach.
A long silence emerged as her eyes focused dead center on the deer with skull head, blinking slowly. 'Wait..." something had clicked in the felines head. "What do you eat?" if the girl was so concerned about plants, how did she survive in the first place, everyone had to eat something.

Anarra chuckled softly, which turned into a lighthearted laughter, her body shaking. Her anger quickly faded away as the blood devil moved to a safer location, and hearing her comments. Laughter in her voice as she replied. “I’m afraid you or other species that drink blood won’t get the nutrition you need from plants. She shook her head. “The liquid in plants is similar to what humans and other creatures have in the fact that it is used to transport nutrients to each part of the plant like blood does for the human body. However, from there is differs.”
Here she took a sprout growing on her body and cut it, showing the two of them. It stung, but she didn’t flinch. The result of the cut was clear liquid seeping out, not red. “Human blood has red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Plants do not. Plants have sap, which is similar to plasma in the human body. It only consists of water, sugars, and other minerals the plants need to survive. Their leaves also have chlorophyll, which traps sunlight.”
She felt like she was giving a science lesson, but she didn’t particularly care. She was educating her peers on the life she protected and took care of. And she was happy doing so. Hearing the question as to what she ate, she chuckled again. “I use photosynthesis. And even though I have a brain and living organs, my body uses sap instead of blood.” She grew from the ground when she was ‘born’, and she was made entirely of plants. But even so, she could still feel pain. She had nerves. Which was why being hit with ice or fire hurt; the water in her ‘veins’ would freeze or boil, and her body would shrivel and die.
