welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Fun fact: most nurse's offices are just converted science lab classrooms.
This statement was, of course, patently false, but it held true for one Academy professional in particular: Historia Llewellyn, the only veterinarian on the grounds. Over the past couple of years, she had slowly transformed her office into something suitable for medical practice, converting most of the fireproof lab desks into beds (which were conveniently fireproof for the occasional ever-aflame individual) and swapping out most of the chemical storage for various medicines. Though students were officially advised to bring only their pets, familiars, thralls, and creatures of such nature to Historia, she quite often found herself visited by those with larger-than-life transformations, simply because she had more space to work with.
At the present, though, her workplace was more than a little off-putting. The floor was strewn with various shredded plastics swept into a pile. The woman herself was off to the side attempting to pump air into what appeared to be a makeshift blood pressure monitor, but scaled up to accommodate the occasional dragon. However, she seemed unable to inflate the machine with eldritch energy without rending the pressure sensor to shreds, and thus Historia found herself in a corner of her office making herself a cup of cocoa using a Bunsen burner to cheer herself up.
She looked up from her chocolate mood-booster right as a potential patient walked in.

It was a bad idea to transform into a form where the urge to harm someone skyrocketed. True statement.
Yet, here she was in her tiny foot tall feline form limping down the hallway finding that thanks to whatever damage had been done to her left hind side she couldn't seem to transform back into a humanoid, which was an occurrence that hadn't taken place before to her memory. Of course, if the young girl had the memories of the warrior she'd once been before coming into this realm? She would plenty recall if she damaged something her humanoid form didn't have while in her feline form than she couldn't transform back until healed and vise versa, least not without an insane amount of energy burn. The amount of energy she would annihilate forcing the transformation in this state would put her into a feeding frenzy luckily she didn't know how to force the transformation back anymore, she had to be able to easily preform it or she just couldn't.
Normally she would just go to the normal nurse or better yet just go to one of her parents who worked in the school as the occult studies teacher and inventory manager. Nyx was not dim enough to believe any of them could help with an injury to her feline body. "Hello?" the voice was telepathic as she was incapable of speaking verbally in this form due to felines lacking the vocal cords to do so. "I had a bit of an accident, I'm a Blood Devil but I have this feline form and now I'm stuck in it." most devil's couldn't pull the stunt she did of transforming into an animal, but she was an expectation and sometimes it just felt nicer to be the cat instead of the devil, for one people weren't as afraid of a tiny foot tall feline as they were a species that was known for desiring murder.

The potential client being a cat, Historia was already in the process of crouching down and saying "Hello kitty!" Of course, the telepathic explanation quickly put away the idea of continuing to address the person before her in cat-speech-mode. Although she had not encountered a Blood Devil personally, she'd heard a few tales of their fortitude-based warrior culture. Still, her knowledge was not at all complete, and so she bent down to pull out some encyclopedias from the shelves and had a quick refresher session for herself. "Hm, hm, yes, I see. Well, that didn't help at all." She closed the tome and grinned. Of course, with the wide variety of eldritch abilities that the kids carried nowadays, there wouldn't necessarily be any species-specific information that was relevant, but it never hurt to check. "So, stuck as a cat. Why don't you loaf up over here?" She kicked the end-segment of one of her wooden lab-tables, causing it to drop over and create a ramp up to the table. "I can perform a general examination of you, but it would make things faster if you could tell me why you can't transform?" Of course, it was probably the leg. But the powers that be assigned all sorts of strange handicaps to the talented, and thus it would have been rude to assume. Historia also briefly mused whether she would have to prepare some steak for dinner if it ended up being a blood-related thing.

Some may call it fortitude, however when observed their culture just looked exactly like murder, repeated bloody murder. Expect for Nyx she was totally a pacifist and would always stay that way because she was different! It didn't matter that more than her devil form wanted to imagine the induvial before her dead, this feline body wanted to see the entire school building engulfed in brilliant flame. The girl had fought the imagination of her kind for her entire life, there was no reason that she couldn't keep going so.
"My name is Nyx." she didn't want the vet having to constantly have to refer to her by such a bulky inconvenient name considering she had a real one that was much more easy to use. Thankful for the ramp she slowly limped her way up the wooden device unto the table it was connected to, slowly settling down upon the surface. Now that she was more accessible? The nurse would be able to spot black markings across her cream pelt most notably the black triangles beneath her optics and the skull where a tag would fall. "Sorry, I can't tell you why, this has never happened before as I rarely use this body." she had just been trying to make things better even though in the end her transformation had done nothing to improve the situation that led to her mangled hind quarters. "The few times I have used it, well I didn't actually use it, I mostly just morphed and ran at most, I didn't really spend time in it nor do anything that could count as real use." something felt off about being in this body as if something was missing beneath her tiny paws almost all the time.
Without her memories the feline could not even close to phantom she was missing riding on the shoulder of Chaoris until battle began. "I can tell you that this body itself is connected to my ability to wield flames from the underworld." but that pretty much amount to all she knew.

"Well, having a form you don't transform into too often does come with its own set of problems, now doesn't it Nyx?" Historia mused in a bedside-mannery voice, lilting and smooth. She continued to chatter in a relaxed manner as she put on some nitrile gloves and prepared to examine her patient. Matters of the eldritch not being her strong suit, Historia decided to just go with a normal cat examination for starters. "I've heard that transformations are like muscles for most; it helps to keep them active if you want to stay consistent with them. Of course, I can't turn into anything special as well, so that's all hearsay on my part." As she droned on, she did a cursory check for a pulse and temperature, noting both to be higher than expected. Such things were common enough with transformations, though. She then checked the inside of Nyx's cat mouth for any tooth impairments or gum disease. That having been concluded, it was on to the physical examination. Drawing blood was a last resort, and asking a student for a stool sample would've been too unfortunate for everyone involved. She went through Nyx's feline limbs methodically, checking the health of her claws briefly for each one as well. Finally, Historia paused when she reached the hind leg. "I thought as much when I saw your limp, but...it seems like your leg is damaged here. I should've asked, but I guess your high pain tolerance carries across to your cat form? Feels like a break here that's pretty serious by cat standards."

It could be like a muscle in a sense that would make a lot of sense. Of course, everything would be making much more sense if she could remember why she had transformed in the first place! However, the only clues as to why she had morphed were present in her mangled leg, the bite mark on her paw, scratch on the side of her face, bruise on her gut and some black blood on the side of her face. Plus if the vet had any idea of how to see signs of psychic power misuse on their patient it would become painfully obvious that whatever had caused her injuries also forced her to activate everything she could at once scrambling her brain like an egg. "I suppose, this has a purpose but I can't recall what it is." what was the purpose of this body again? Why did she have it.... Wait... Where was she again. Crap.
"Uum." confusion was clear in the felines eyes, head tilting to the side as she flicked her ears. "Who are you, where are we, and what am I doing here?" she laughed slightly, but the words held every trace of scenery, the cat couldn't remember. Actually, it was fairly alarming that her memory seemed to be scrambled as if the vet didn't know about mental abilities it would be easy to assume she had some sort of internal damage around her head, which could be extremely dangerous. "My leg?" briefly she glanced down, red eyes widening slightly as she poked it with one forepaw. "Oh yeah, I guess It feels absolutely normal." though it clearly was not. "Um.. Why am I a cat, I don't normally take this form." her head hurt, slowly she lowered her body once more and placed one paw over her eyes to block out the light.

Historia frowned as fresh symptoms came to light from their conversation. A lesser-used emergency power was one thing; if nothing else, it was quite popular in heroic literature. However, a transformation that caused amnesia was almost certainly an abnormality. If this was a common occurrence, her patient would most likely have already prepared some sort of contingency, like a folded note or collar explaining the details. However, the physical examination had yielded no such thing. It clearly wasn't her first rodeo ever as a cat, either, since this girl Nyx seemed familiar enough with the transformation. So, whatever was causing the memory issue was most likely an externality. She checked the feline's eyes quickly with a weak flashlight; they seemed concerned, but otherwise responsive enough for now.
In situations like this, the first thing to do was to put up a calm face, which Historia did. "No worries. The important thing is that you're not in pain, and there don't seem to be any seriously threatening injuries." Of course, under normal circumstances a Blood Devil wouldn't be in great pain to begin with, but it was still a small reassurance that things weren't horribly wrong. "For now, let me help patch up your injured leg. Then we can figure out your feline transformation lock together." The vet then, in a somewhat peculiar move, went over to her work desk and picked up a strange energy drink, chugging it all down in one go. While that was digesting, she grabbed a small splint and some bandages. "I can heal you easily enough, but I'd like to take any precaution to make sure your break heals as properly as possible." The first step in doing so was to set the break using the splint and bandages, which Historia did. Internally, she was thankful about not having to be particularly gentle owing to her patient's physiology. "Now then, let's get this out of the way so we can see about the rest." Historia took a small rod that was reclining against her desk and waved it. A calming wind emanated from the veterinarian herself; her special talent that would heal the wounds of others in accordance with her body's current state, hence the use of an energy drink. However, eldritch effects, curses, chemical imbalances, diseases, mental conditions, all of those were outside the scope of her abilities, and so she didn't have much hope of alleviating the amnesia unless it was by chance due to some blunt force trauma. After the wind subsided, Historia moved over to start removing the splints. "How are you feeling now? Anything different?" Again she also pulled out her flashlight to check the cat's visual response while feeling the break in the leg to see if it'd been fixed, or if some outside force had prevented that.

The buzzing of the lights and the bright illumination itself was incredibly painful at this point even if she responded to it normally expect for the impulse to keep one foreleg spread across her eyes when they weren't being examined. Now, to understand why her eyes hurt but she had no abnormal response to the light, one had to understand how her eldritch ghostly abilities worked. Nyx was capable of seeing both future and past in many different way, seeing the dreams of others, project herself into an entirely different location, and envisioning based teleportation, all such abilities relied on her eyes! Triggering all of them at once wasn't just draining it was straight up dangerous because she just couldn't see all that at a single time and the things conjured forth by her abilities needed to be seen in detail, thus her vision couldn't catch up to itself. The girls brain was in a function were all it could really devote more than a few brief moments to was figuring out how to correct the network confusion she had caused within it.
Just like an actual cat she responded to the flashlight by trying to catch the little beam, batting her paws at the stream with a small mrw coming from her throat. Why couldn't she catch that? She had human intelligence this should be easy! Only, she was not actually clever as she had been due to the mental strain currently on her, before she could return to being humanoid she'd need to mentally cover enough to support that body again. At the moment even remembering she could transform back was a little bit beyond the small feline, her larger feline form also just outside of her memory. "Nah. I just feel like a cat." the comment was made as she stumbled and fell onto her back atop the table, rolling over with ease clearly not needing to adjust to this body.
Suddenly she froze, looking terrified as she glanced around the room scampering backwards until she feel off the examination table. "Why are we suddenly in the forest?!" but they weren't neither of them had moved expect for her backing up and falling. Her brain no longer had the ability to help her decipher the merged state of vision and sight that she was currently viewing, leading to confusion and panic.

Hoo boy. From Historia's perspective, there was one logical outcome for what was happening currently: sudden onset catification. The reaction to the light, the sudden clambering around for no good reason, the lackadaisical attitude giving way to panic were all symptoms of...simply being a cat. Of course, there had always been stories about people getting a little too into their transformations, but given the circumstances, this seemed to be an exceptional case. Truth be told, Historia did not feel herself qualified to deal with this. On the other hand, she also couldn't really think of anyone else who actually would be qualified to deal with this, and so she persisted. "If you can hear me, don't worry," she said in her placid bedside voice. "You're perfectly safe in the ve-" The veterinarian paused, wondering if fearing the doctor was an innate trait of all cats. "You're perfectly safe in the academy right now," she settled on. There were some feline mysteries the woman desired to poke into, such as whether cats could actually see invisible spirits and whatnot, but it seemed rude to take advantage. Calming her down wouldn't exactly solve the issue entirely though, and so Historia thought for a moment about how a cat might remedy their own woes. A solution did occur to her. "So, Nyx, do you have anyone you know that I can take you to see? A friend nearby, perhaps?" Though she didn't exactly want to run afoul of another Blood Devil, getting her patient to who could at least help construct a medical history seemed to be their best bet.

She could hear the voice of the other person but it was difficult to see Historia past the tree that was also occupying the same space as the nurse, tiny red optics narrowed into a squinted state as she looked around trying to locate the other. Trying to rely on her sight in the current state of it? Was a mistake as it was impossible for her brain to tell the difference between the vision she was currently in and the world around her thus it flickered around merging them and messing with them without discrimination. "I can hear you, but I can't see you." it was alarming, sprinting forward a few steps which resulted in her head slamming into the table causing her to hiss out and swipe her paw as if it was something her could defeat. "What! Why is something here, there's nothing here!" she couldn't see the table to her it was just an empty space of air atop grass thus she kept walking into it every time she tried to find her way around to continue looking for the other voice present.
Luckily for the nurse she would not have to face another Blood Devil since the young girl had been raised by a human and now resided in the care of two other species instead of her own kind. However, this did lead to it's own problems most notably that no one around her truly knew things that were not on the relatively new books about Blood Devil's meaning sometimes one of her guardians had to call a military base to speak with another devil to figure out certain things. Anyone she could be taken to see, the statement caused even greater confusion as her brain tried to think about who she knew and for the longest time, a good ten minutes, could only think of a man with bone white hair and blue eyes. Eventually softly things gave way enough for her to make out Dawn within the chaos of her head, scratching at the side of her face slightly to see if she could jog anything else. "Dawn." she couldn't say much else, sure she could remember what the older woman looked like but just barely. Where was Dawn supposed to be right now? This was so frustrating!
