welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Nyx had been a bust. Ozaki had managed to get her leg, but she’d teleported away after that. He absentmindedly checked his app to figure out where his GPS tracked bats were, and saw they were still on the move. They were moving too erratically to yet be on anyone’s trail, so he put the phone away and morphed into a bat, flying upwards himself and to his next hunt of the night.
He was feeling like a vampire hunt tonight. So he went to the one place he was certain that there would be some. A territory he had reverently avoided for fifteen years, that of the Blood gang. He chirped a few times until he had a few bats nearby that had heeded his call, then asked if they knew if any other vampires were close.
They chittered their affirmation and gave a general direction. The infernal gossipers that they were, they were about to launch into a tirade about the vampire in question, but that went completely ignored by Ozaki.
He hated using this unholy powers. But if they would help him hunt vampires he’d gladly do it. He landed on the roof nearby the vampire, and morphed back into a humanoid, peaking over the room top like a leopard over the bushes. When he saw who it was Ozaki froze for a second.
He was here. The man who had sired him. This whole time he had been here.

Against all the wishes of his right hand man Mordred had decided to go out on a midnight stroll. He wasn't upset that they had tried to stop him, after all he had given them plenty of reason to. Last time the boss had gone on a stroll like this he had ran into a group of hunters and had gone out of his way to beat them senseless. At the same time being the boss of a gang meant there was surely plenty of people who wanted him dead and even more who would happily go after him for a bounty. Casual strolls were simply not something he should've been doing without at least a few of his own men to cover his back and yet here he was. Completely alone strolling the streets without a care in the world yet for some reason he kept feeling like he had forgotten something.
He tried to ignore the feeling. It had been plaguing him for awhile now. It had started years ago and hadn't completely gone away since then. Regardless of whatever he was doing the feeling would never go away. He had even had his right man begin writing down everything he needed to do to make sure he wasn't forgetting anything. Yet even when he had confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt that everything was in order the gut wrenching feeling refused to go away. As a result Mordred face contorted into one of frustration.
AHHHH! What is it?! I know there's something I have to do but what is it?!"
The outburst wouldn't bring back any memories to the vampire noble's mind but it did at least help him feel a bit better. It would've been embarrassing to let out such an outburst in front of his gang, there was no class to yelling after all, but on the streets alone he had nothing to worry about. With a sudden change of interest the gang boss decided he was going to treat himself to help improve his mood. A visit to a bar would do it but he'd have to find one that was up to his standards. It might take awhile but it would help him blow off some steam and maybe he'd even run into a girl he liked. After all it had been forever since he had been on anything resembling a date and being completely honest working on gang stuff all the time was starting to get a bit boring. A date sounded fun and if he managed to find the right girl maybe he'd even be able to settle down though he wasn't so sure how many people would be okay with dating a vampiric gang boss.

At hearing the vampire suddenly shout Yuuki Asahi was a little surprised. That didn’t seem like the vampire he remembered. But nonetheless, it had to be. Asahi would never forget his face for as long as he lived. The vampire pulled out a dart from one of his pouches, the red fluid within turning clear with just a tinge of red, and let it fly rapidly, aiming for the vampire’s neck for the quickest effect.
He had left just a touch of blood in it so that if the vampire moved he would be able to manipulate its trajectory to still strike true.

"Huh?"
Before Mordred could even react the dart had imbedded itself into his neck and inject the tranquilizer into his bloodstream. With the last of his energy before the dart went into full effect his head turned to face the attack. His eyes flaring up with anger. He hated these types of assailants. Those that would attack from the shadows with toxins and venoms. There was no honor or bravery in this kind of fight. Just cowardice. In his rage Mordred ripped the dart out of his neck and yelled one last time before allowing himself to fall into unconsciousness.
"Show yourself coward! Do you have no honor?!"
With that the vampire noble's legs collapsed beneath him and his body plummeted to the ground beneath him. He had fallen asleep before his head had even reached the ground. His last thought being how his right hand man was definitely going to mock him later and tell him I told you so. Why did everything have to be so frustrating? All he had wanted was a simple night of fun on the town.

Asahi did indeed have no honor- at least not in the respect that Mordred was speaking of. He did not reveal himself until he was certain the vampire was completely unconscious, descending down to ground level to heft him up over his shoulder and start walking home.
Normally he’d be a bit hesitant to do such a thing. But right now Asahi just didn’t give a damn. He would be able to easily kill this vampire. It didn’t matter what he saw before he woke up.
The process of getting home took slightly longer than he had planned, given the fact he had run into another vampire on the way and tried to off her. He’d eventually left on his own. Asahi knew exactly how much time he had with this dart, as well as how much time he would likely need to make his preparations at home. Upon arriving at home he grabbed a chair and chains and wrapped them around tightly enough that it would be enough to keep even a vampire bound. Then he put a blindfold over Mordred’s eyes, not wanting to risk getting influenced by a sire’s power to control their spawn.
With his remaining five minutes he went to his book shelf and pulled out a few books, revealing an old journal of his pushed up against the back. There was a large slash mark that went through the back half of the book. This journal had marked the beginning of his habit of putting the the journal he always carried with him on the same side as his heart.
It had been mere luck that the journal had been there that time around, luck that had saved his life. The time after were less luck.
Multiple pages were splattered by blood, marking a time before he realized he needed to keep the journal encased in something water proof in order to preserve it from what Olivia liked to call “his chronically accident prone ass.”
The writing near illegible to anyone but him, and as he flipped through the book he found what he was looking for. For years he had been obsessed with wondering what his sire was like. What he would say if he ever met him. He’d written out various scenarios a hundred times over in this journal, as it was the only thing he really felt he could actually confide in. The only way to vent his rage towards his unjust changing and ensuing abandonment.
He had his flock- but they could not truly communicate to the level he had needed at the time. And he had had the school… But he had not wanted to get into much depth with people about his conversion story. It wasn’t exactly something pleasant to talk about.
But the man who was responsible for changing him was here now. He closed the journal and hid it behind the behind the books again.
He should be awake by now… Asahi looked back to the vampire, expression subdued. “You awake yet your honor?” The last couple of words were spoken as a sarcastic curse. Honor. The man dared speak about honor and cowardice? It'd taken him near the whole trip home to think of that one, but he was proud of it.

By the time Mordred had woken up he had already been tied to a chair in chains and found himself looking up at his attacker. With the darts affects just wearing out of his system he was still a bit drowsy but he still could just make out what the person in front of him was saying. Your honor? Who was his assailant? He couldn't see the man's face but going purely from his voice he didn't seem to be any older than seventeen. Had he been kidnapped by a child? Mordred had been taking care to keep track of who his enemies were but at the moment he couldn't think of anyone of them that would sarcastically refer to him as your honor. Honestly, he had no idea who would even refer to him as your honor in the first place. In his gang there were a collection of individuals that referred to him as the Lord but he couldn't think of anyone who referred to him as your honor nor could he think of any children he had angered recently.
"Yea, I'm awake. Now what do you want? A ransom or something?
From what he could tell so far this kid wasn't some assassin sent to kill him. If he had been he would've been dead already or at the very least heavily beaten up. It was clear it wasn't one of his usual rivals either since they would've none better than to leave his limbs intact while holding him prisoner. With his life and limbs intact Mordred was truly starting to wonder what was even going on here. He was curious enough that he hadn't even attempt trying to escape from his bindings as he waited to see just what exactly this kid wanted from him. However, this vampire had never really been the most subtle of individuals so instead of waiting for answers he cut right to the point.
"Also if you don't mind me asking who are you? It doesn't look like you were hired by any of my rivals and considering how you have dealt with the situation so far it doesn't seem like you are a hired professional either. So tell me kid who sent you? Did someone send you after me in exchange for some quick money? If so I advise that you let me go now before things get more complicated than they need to be. The gang will come to take you out when they realize what's happened but I'd prefer if we can avoid that. There's no honor in killing a foolish child. So how about this? Let me go and tell me who hired you and I'll double whatever they are paying you. A good deal for both of us right?

A ransom? Asahi had no desire for money out of this man. Frankly he was fairly certain that once he got what he wanted from the vampire, he’d skewer him in the heart. “Don’t you dare call me a child you scum. And I almost doubt you’ll even recognize the name. But its Yuuki Asahi.”
Ironically enough if he had used the name he usually went by nowadays- odds were Mordred would not recognize it. Yuuki had long ago cast away his father’s name in favor of his mother's. In part to make it harder to track him through any digital systems. But there had also been the fact that he had not wanted to be associated with a man that was hunting his own kind… Even if that kind had forced him to become one of them to begin with. Eldritch Academy had shown him that not everyone was like that. It’d become a home to him.
But today it was like he could finally see right for the first time in years. His father had been right about all of them. Asahi had no idea how he could have deluded himself for so long.
Not a professional? Asahi took that in and immediately wondered where he had gone wrong. Perhaps he should administer a lower dose of the sedative in order to keep the vampire at bay. His body was restrained, but there was no telling what kind of talent he had had. For now, Asahi opted to not use any more sedative. He wanted the vampire lucid for what was going to happen next.
He could inject more easily with his darts at any point. “I don’t work for anyone. I don’t want your money. I just want some answers.” And to see him suffer for all the pain he had put Asahi through. But he’d save that for later. No need to put him on guard and make him need to resort to such methods to get his answers.
“I want to know why you turned me fifteen years ago.” Their variant wasn’t the type where it could happen by mere accident, you had to first drain the person of their blood, then feed them vampiric blood back. It couldn’t have been an accident. Surely there had to be a reason. Even as he was right now, he could not comprehend why. Hunger was one thing, but why did this vampire go and change him?

Asahi. Mordred definitely knew that last name and a wave of pure anger flooded throughout his entire body as he heard it. The chains holding the vampire noble with rattle and strain as his muscled would suddenly tighten after hearing that name. While it was impossible to see behind the blind fold the gang boss's eyes with burning rage. If he wasn't currently chained down he would've already been at the Ozaki's throat trying to strangle the life out of him. Asahi was the last name of the man Mordred hate most in this world. The man who had taken his 'daughter' away from him. A person he would never be willing to forgive.
"Asahi...... You must truly want to die to so casually mention that name in front of me brat. I know the name. I will never forgive that name for taking my daughter away from me. You a relative of that lower than dirt scum Yuuto? Forget sparing you. I'll cut your body into pieces and send the pieces to him individual. Than I'll find that church of his and burn it along with all of its followers to ashes. I spared Yuuto once and he's a fool for thinking I'd forgive him from coming after my family a second time."
The vampire knight's words were filled with malice and hated but if one listened closely enough they could hear the pain in his voice. The pain of a loss that had struck a hole in his heart that nothing seemed to be able to replace. A hole that was only temporarily sealed by the man's bloodlust and rage. It had been many years since he had gone on a rampage and now he was on the verge of going on one again. The chains holding Mordred continued to rattled and he fought against his restraint in his state of rage. He could call his sword to him but in the state he was now he wanted to beat down the man in front of him with his own bare hands. At least that was his intent until he heard the boy's question and the memory that had been buried in his subconscious for decades was dragged to the surface.
Yuki Asahi. The son of the man he hated to much. The boy he had turned all those years ago during his blood rage. A crime so horrifying and brutal that Mordred had buried it away due to the shame it brought him. In his rage he had attacked an innocent child and torn his throat out all those years ago. He remembered snapping out of his bloodlust and finding the poor child lying on the floor bleeding out from his neck. The terrified eyes looking back at him as the life began to fade away from them. The reason he had turned the son of the man he hated most was guilt. Guilt for having torn a child to shreds and guilt for not being able to save one of his own.
So its you. The child from all those years ago.....

Taken his daughter? Ah yes. Well. Yuuto had killed a few vampires in his time. Ozaki had done his best to prevent too many deaths by his father’s hands, but it had taken a couple of years before he had thought of the system, and even more to perfect it. And even now it had its faults, as bats were creatures often preyed upon by the stronger creatures of the sky. He’d recently updated it to be sure there were at least a pair of tracker bats close by, in case one was taken out.
The pure rage of the vampire’s response was almost alarming to him. Amusing… All that would have been merciful compared to the reality of what he actually ended up doing. Sickeningly enough even now Asahi would not turn back the clock to fix it. Even now in this disgusting form he wanted to make the most out of his life. Which in his current interpretation of things meant killing as much of these vermin as he could.
Asahi took out a dart, ready to lash out with it should Mordred succeed in even breaking so much as a link. This was only at 33% strength of the first one. So he should remain at least conscious, though not able to do much more than sit there and listen. Maybe some slurred responses.
“Yah. The child you turned and left for dead. You know what happened after you left? I lost everything. I tore my mother apart, I was thrown out of my home. I had nothing!” Asahi threw as strong of a punch as he could manage at Mordred’s face, literally screaming at the man. “You took everything from me! And why!? Why did you do this to me? WHY?”

Mordred didn't try to resist or even try to shift his weight to avoid Asahi's punch. The chains no longer rattled or strained against him. Instead the vampire noble just accepted what he had coming to him. His rage had been replaced with a painful wave of guilt as he listened to the child in front of him. All the fighting spirit Mordred had built up to that point had quickly died away as he heard the rage and pain in Yuuki's voice. At the same time though the punch to the face had completely caught Mordred off guard and he spent a few moments in stunned silence before he began his answer.
"Because you were dying. You were dying and it was my fault. Your father had killed one of my own and in my rage I had ripped you to shreds despite the fact that you were just an innocent child. I couldn't just leave you to die for my or Yuuto's mistakes. I had also hoped that turning you would force your father to realize that vampires weren't just monsters that needed to be eliminated but people with the same feelings that humans have. I wanted him to acknowledge that Meggi was just an innocent girl that he had killed, that he had taken everything away from, and not just some homicidal bloodsucker that he seems to believe all of us are. Regardless it was my mistake and I was the one who abandoned you after turning you into one of us. There isn't anything I can do to bring your mother back or make up for her lose. If you want to kill me for what I've done I won't stop you."

So this was the answer he had sought all these years. Knowing didn’t make him feel any better. There was still a black rage inside him. That’s the blood that’s black, his talent whispered. Who the fuck even cared though? No. This rage did not belong to anything he had imbibed. It was his own, in the shape it was always meant to be as a son of Yuuto Asahi. He could scarcely believe himself that he had spent years of his life actually helping the creatures who had taken everything from him.
“Meggi?” His tone lifted slightly, squinting a little at the name. His inflection implied a familiarity with the name. Something’s wrong. No. It wasn’t wrong. Asahi was seeing clearly for the first time in years. “That can’t be true… He didn’t start any of that until after…” After he’d killed his mother.
Asahi snorted, shrugging off what would later be a world breaking epiphany. “Like it even matters though. He was right about you soulless vermin, all you are is a bunch of over-glorified leeches. Meggi was no different.”
He’d kill the man. He would… Asahi just wasn’t going to do it when he was offering freely though. Now he had the man who had ruined his life at his disposal, he had options. How to kill him? Slow, fast? Skewer him with a stake in mid-sentence so he never even got a moment to suspect it coming? So many choices. But Asahi knew he wanted this man to suffer.

“Don’t you dare! I’m willing to ignore up to a certain level of your ignorance but I won’t allow you to speak ill of Meggi! Remove this blindfold and be silent.”
The man’s words were filled with anger and hatred despite the fact that the gang boss was currently at the hunter’s mercy. Yet the moment they reached the young vampires ears he would find himself suddenly compelled to obey. It was a power Mordred hated to use on those he turned. The power of a vampiric sire. With Ozakj within hearing range there was no escape unless he covered his ears and considering that Mordred was currently blindfolded it was unlikely the boy knew what was coming.
Any guilt Mordred had felt about the boy he had quickly died away when he insulted Meggi. While it was unlikely that the knight would kill him if Mordred got his hands on him in the next few moments there was definitely a chance the gang leader would try to maim him, especially since Yuuki would be capable of recovering.
“Also let me just clarifying something before I cut you into pieces since you seem to have misunderstood something. Your father was always hunting is. There wasn’t some event that started it or it occurred after. He was always a racist killer”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What?! No! Asahi found himself walking towards the man without being able to stop himself, and found himself unable to respond in any manner to his words. He removed Mordred’s blindfold. Apparently the trait that enabled a vampire to control their spawn was not reliant on eye sight. He felt so stupid. And terrified that he would be unable to do or say anything as his inevitable death approached.
Perhaps it was better this way though… Asahi did not want to feed again. He had gone so far to even file his fangs down with a silver file. An act that was both pure agony in the process of doing, and living with until they grew back. Asahi did have painkillers that could numb such a pain. But no… For the things he had done as a vampire baring this pain was the least he deserved.
He locked eyes with the man who had stolen everything from him, leveling pure hate at him with green eyes that looked so much like Yuuto’s when lit up with rage as they were now. He might not be able to speak, but by damn he could do this much. The fact that Yuuto had always been a murderer did not affect him in the least. Not now any how.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mordred bit into the upper portion of his lip using his fangs and stared right back at Yuuki as the blood dripped down his chin. As it dripped something odd would begin to occur. As they fell off his chin the blood froze in mid air collecting into a ball. At the same time the blood coming out of the gang boss’s wound was bleeding far more profusely than it should’ve been. After all he was purposely drawing it out.
After a moment the ball of blood would take action taking on a blade like form and swirling around the man at rapid speeds. Cutting the chains, the chair, and Mordred multiple times over. Free from his chains and covered in cuts the knight would rise to his feet and raise his hand out towards Ozaki with his palm facing the now blood soaked ground. The blood as well as what seemed to be tiny sparklingly particles of metal joined in with the blood with suddenly fly up to Mordred hand in a whirlpool while transforming into a strange looking great sword.
The blade was made of steel but appeared to blood vessels running into it starting at its hilt. To make the weapon even stranger a small beating sound like that of a heart could be heard coming from the blade if one was listening closely enough.
“It seems I’m going to have to beat some respect into you. Prepare yourself Yuuki Asahi”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Asahi, for all his bravado moments ago, felt a strong ripple of dread course through him. He backed up as the blood started to gather. The other vampire had cut himself multiple times, yet even so the man did not seem to be wary of that. Indeed it seemed that it had something to do with his talent. Asahi felt transfixed by the sight before him before he suddenly remembered…
Mordred’s command had been to untie him and remain silent. There had been nothing about what he ought do afterwards. With one of his altered darts still in hand, he had an easy offensive move to be made from the get go. With a person who could command control over him at any moment, there was only one real option. He may have been accepting of the idea he might die a moment ago. But if there was one thing Yuuki was, it was a person with a powerful will to survive. Whatever it took.
Asahi flung the dart in his hand at Mordred, then took off running as quickly as he could toward the door. He was already withdrawing another dart from his pouch, whose contents were rapidly changing colors from red to transparent. He had to get here as fast as possible before the other vampire could verbalize another command.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With a quick turn of his wrists the knight’s sword moved to block the dart knocking it off the the side where it crashed into the floor. Strangely enough rage was no longer alight in the vampire’s eyes. It was something else now. An emotionless void that seemed to only have one intent in mind as they silently tracked their target as he fled. Despite Ozaki being someone he turned Mordred didn’t hesitate in his pursuit.
Drawing power from Avalon the boss shot after Ozaki at high speed with only one intention in mind. To cut. His mind had gone blank for everything but that singular thought. To cut down the enemy in front of him and bring them to their knees. With that in mind once Mordred got in rage he would swing that blade at full force aiming at the place where his shoulder connecting to his right arm.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This man moved fast. Far faster than Asahi would have predicted considering he had cut himself in multiple places. And there was the fact that even without the usage of adrenaline he was pretty damn fast. Adrenaline which he found himself robbed of as the man who had moments ago been chained, successfully managed to lop off the arm that had been been reaching for it.
The moment the limb was severed black blood spurted from the open wound and from the arm that dropped to the ground like the dead weight it was.
He could still reach for the door with his left hand. By the Artemis’ bow did this hurt. If he weren’t ordered to remain silent he’d have screamed out from the pain. But as it was, not even a whisper could be uttered. If he thought his fangs had hurt before, this was so much worse. But he had to keep running. Fighting this man wasn’t an option.
Asahi managed to fling open the door and run out into the hallway, cupping the place where his limb had been severed with his remaining hand, then bringing that hand to his face. Black blood. Black. That was bad…. But it wouldn’t matter once he changed it.
The blood shifted colors within his hand to a transparent one, which he then brought to his mouth and drained with his damaged fangs. The sensation of drinking through his damaged fangs was pure agony. But nothing compared to what would happen if the other vampire caught him. The adrenaline hit him quickly, and within seconds Asahi was running considerably faster… As well as bleeding faster as well. But that was to be expected from someone who was running for their life. A vampire’s heart beat slow, so under normal circumstances when bleeding did happen it was sluggish. Heavy exertion would naturally make it beat faster, as would adding this adrenaline. But at least what he drank would both help him ignore the pain and run like a Selene damned cheetah.
He knew the risks of using adrenaline with a wound such as this. But if he didn’t there was no way he was getting out of this alive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mordred's body hurt all over. Sure cutting himself all over allowed him to summon Avalon far quicker but now he was wounded and had lost a significant amount of blood. He had trained to work through pain liked this but his body still felt like it was burning as his wounds were worsened by his rapid movement. He needed blood quickly and so did his sword. As such the moment he cut Yuuki's arm the sword began to feed before the knight had even seen its color.
It was too late by then though. The sword had already absorbed the blood and transferred it into his system. He had no idea what it was or what its effects where but for now it seemed like he was fine. There was no sign of poisoning or anything like that. Shrugging it off Mordred turned his eyes back towards his target. Yuuki Asahi. The man who dared to mock Meggi’s death. The young vampire he was going to kill. Kill as slowly and painfully as possible.
His sword offered up no resistance and in fact he could hear it calling out for him to cut Ozaki down. To chop him into pieces and drink all the blood in his body. Without realizing it both the sword and Mordred had come under the influence of the black blood. Bloodlust unlike anything the knight had felt in decades was suddenly surging throughout his entire body. Holding the point of his blade in the direction of his now much faster target Mordred willed the weapon to change.
The sword suddenly began to collapse into a thousand particles of steel, blood, and circulatory tissues which than reforged itself into the form of a bow and arrow. A black metal bow with the same veins running through it that the sword did. A string seemingly made out of black blood materialized and as Mordred drew it back a black arrow emerged. With his target insight the gang boss released the arrow sending it flying towards the lower section of his target’s spine. A paralyzed target even if only temporarily will definitely make the pursuit easier.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was just as well Asahi had turned his head to check and see if the other vampire was catching up, as he did so just in time to see the bow and arrow forming. This time they were formed of the black blood they had drawn from him. That blow had taken much more blood than it ought to, Asahi was realizing now. He managed to dodge the blow last moment, and as he turned a corner he wiped around, drawing a dagger from behind himself. He usually had two on him at any time, hidden. The trench coat he was wearing gave ample opportunity to hide weapons like this.
The vampire chasing him had the ability to command him to stop at any point. If he was unable to speak, he might as well try and rob him of that ability as well. Killing him would be preferred, but running as fast as they were he could not be certain of a sure fire shot there. And if his blade got stuck in the vampire’s chest on the wrong side that’d be problematic. Even if he did have another one, it’d take time to draw.
The moment the other vampire turned the corner Asahi aimed for the throat. Cutting the head off would be lovely… But if he could not do that now at least damaging the vocal cords would be nice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Damn”
The arrow had missed its target and imbedded itself into a nearby brick wall. For a few moments it maintained its rigid form before reliquifying and dripping down the wall in the form of black blood. The fact that his blood had currently been dyed back would usually disturb the knight and stop him in his tracks but in his current state he paid it no mind. His bow on the other hand was incredibly interested. It wanted to get to it’s source. She wanted to dissect the fleeing vampire and dissect him for information on his blood but in her current state that was impossible. So she’d just have to let Mordred do it once they had captured him. Urged forward by his own bloodlust and Avalon the gang leader ran after Yuuki.
Without thinking Mordred ran around the corner only to find a blade coming at his throat. There was no time to completely evade the strike but with the time he was given the knight to move away from the knife to reduce the damage. The knife cut into the front of his float hitting some arteries resulting in blood spraying out of his neck.
If he was just a human it would’ve been a fatal wound as a vampire though he had just temporarily lost his ability to speak as blood began to fill his throat. Regathering himself the gang leader planted his feet into the ground before swinging the fist with the now in it directly at his assailants face while holding his other hand over his open throat and exerting his blood control.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The fist came down like the hammer of Thor on Asahi, knocking him back a few feet. He was starting to feel hungry… Right. He should use his blood manipulation too to stem the bleeding. But he had to do this thing real quick first. Asahi held up his remaining hand and used his talent to convert the blood that he could currently see drenching the vampire into gasoline.
The scent would hit the man like the fire truck that would have to come in should things go as badly as they could with this. Already Asahi was rapidly pulling out and flicking on a lighter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The smell of gasoline. It attacked Mordred’s nose mercilessly and it only took the knight a moment to realize what the hunter was planning. An execution by fire was definitely not a pleasant way to go. Asahi’s talent was definitely a troublesome ability and it was something the knight was going to have to deal with immediately.
Without hesitation Mordred turned his bow back into a sword and charged the young vampire. The black blood he had spilled before and shot before that hadn’t been converted to gasoline was attracted to him and dragged by his blood manipulation. The knight moved as fast as possible stabbing his sword forward at full force aiming at his target’s gut. The blood under his control swirled around him and behind Yuuki spinning around them at high speed. Further blood could be seen being dragged out of the knight’s wounds and from his sword adding further to the blood tornado surrounding them.
The blood loss was definitely going to hurt Mordred he had been far to reckless with his assault. Yet if he was in such close a range and they were both trapped within the blood tornado than Yuuki couldn’t light him ablaze without introducing himself to the fire as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was funny how you didn’t realize how nice having two hands was until you were in a life or death battle against your sire. Ozaki had had to drop his dagger in order to get the lighter. Needless to say using a lighter to deflect a blow was not nearly as effective. Not that he tried to do that of course, as he realized in decent timing enough to step to the side. Rather than being impaled he got a hefty gouge in his side… Not much better… But at least the sword wasn’t inside of him where it could do more damage. He’d hate to think what would happen if it changed shapes while inside of him.
Eegh. By Belaray this was so much blood. He had a mental pang in thinking the word of the goddess of the Church of Purity.
Escape options were looking slimmer by the second. He could maybe turn some of this into something else, but not all of it at once. And in recalling what Mordred had done earlier with the chains, he knew trying to run through it wasn’t an option. It could turn into a lethal weapon at any moment, if it wasn’t already one. He let the lighter go out as he bit his cheek as hard as he could.
Asahi should really stop the bleeding… But he’d need as much as he could. With only one hand using his blood manipulation as an additional weapon was the best chance he had. Alright. He could at least slow the bleeding. He devoted part of his focus to that while engaging in the battle. There was a growing sense of frenzy in the back of his mind at all the blood loss. The bottomless hunger was growing out of hand. He needed to end this fight quickly, even if it meant not finishing the man off. Asahi couldn’t go into a blood frenzy. He couldn’t. Already his remaining hand was beginning to tremble with the sheer amount of blood loss and rising hunger.
Rapidly blood pooled into his mouth from the self-inflicted bite, and he used both the force of the spray and a touch of blood manipulation to try and aim the spray directly into Mordred’s eyes. Midair between them the color would warp, changing the vampiric blood into… Holy water of all things. He was trying to blind the other vampire to give himself a better chance of escape.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was too late. While wrapped into the tornado of blood Mordred’s mind lost itself to its hunger. He had expended far more blood than he should’ve. If the black blood hadn’t been corrupting his thoughts he would’ve thought his all more thoroughly but it was all to late now. He was starving. He needed blood and in his current mentally corrupted state he didn’t care where it came from. The speed of the blood tornadoes revolution began to increase rapidly and began to grow thinner. Pushing to the two battling vampires together.
Saliva gathered at the front of Mordred’s throat as the smell of Asahi’s blood entered his nostrils. It definitely wasn’t a good idea to drink another vampire’s blood but the man simply didn’t care at this point. As the hunter prepared his blinding attack a pair of bloodthirsty eyes would make contact with his own.
Eyes very similar to the ones Mordred had made almost a decade and half ago when he arrived at the Asahi house for vengeance. Eyes filled with rage, bloodlust, and hunger. As the holy water headed towards his face the blood tornado surrounding the two collapsed in on itself engulfing the pair as it was rapidly drawn towards the knight. There was no danger to getting hit by the blood. At the most it would feel like getting hit by a wave at the beach. Though it was far more sticky and red.
The blood swirled around Mordred with portions of it getting drained into his mouth. Regardless the blood pool hadn’t deflected the holy water only diluted it and as such as the blood all drained away into Mordred’s gullet revealing his body their would be small smoking portions where the diluted holy water had burned his skin.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Perhaps the blood tornado itself was not damaging, but the person it pushed him right into was. Despite all the rage pumping in his system, the moment he was forced to look into those eyes he felt it all switch to terror in an instant. Asahi frantically flicked the lighter, trying to get it to catch. But blood had clogged the mechanism, it wasn’t so much as able to even get a spark out.
Asahi pushed away as quickly as he could, dropping the lighter as he did so. “Not again not again not again.” He couldn’t make a sound, but his mouth was wording those over and over again as his eyes grew to steel again. He wouldn’t let it happen again. He could… He could do something this time. Right? Right?
Rational thought was leaking away milliliter by milliliter, leaving nothing but a desperate need to survive. He had to. What other choice did he have? He still had his vampiric blood dagger strapped to his back. If he had two damn hands he could pick up his other dagger and maybe cause a spark between them. But no. One hand. One. Hand.
He whipped out his remaining dagger, feeling an embarrassingly feral grow ripple out of his throat. Then he lunged forward, trying to impale the vampire straight through the heart if he could. There was no running away, no chance at anything else. He had to go all or nothing here. There might not even be a chance of winning. But by hell if Asahi would go out without a fight.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Blood. Delicious blood. Mordred felt rejuvenated as it reentered his system. Just moments before he had been expecting to starve to death but that seemed like a distant thought now. The black blood was still in his system corrupting his train of thought but at the very least his brain was no longer clouded by hunger as well. Pain still erupted throughout the entirety of his body but he had trained for stuff like this. His training as a knight and his sire had made sure of that.
In his calmer state of mind the gang leader’s eyes fell on the charging child besides him. A knife in hand it wasn’t hard to tell Yuuki was going for his heart. While the blood still urged him to slaughter Asahi with his thirst quenched the vampire noble was able to resist. Instead he recalled Avalon, which dematerialized and reentered his bloodstream. Than turns to face his enemy.
With a quick movement Mordred moved his open right palm in front of the knife direction. If all went as plan the knife would go through his palm and from there Mordred would use his stabbed hand to grab on to Asahi’s hand. It would hurt like hell for sure but if it succeeded he would use his other hand to unleashes a series of fists at Yuuki’s face while wincing in pain.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Him dismissing his blade had been confusing to say the least, but Asahi had been too desperate to care. And moving too fast, ultimately, to alter his course when the other vampire allowed the dagger to skewer his palm, then aim a bunch of punches at Asahi’s face. Asahi staggered back as blood began seeping from his nose. His concentration utterly shattered, the tainted blood ran freely once again.
He toppled over, and started to struggle to rise. His head was dizzy from lack of blood, and the multiple shots to the face. Only sheer instinct was keeping him awake at this point. Hunger, and the fear that if he fell unconscious now he wouldn’t wake up. But hell. As he was Asahi couldn’t even stand.
Mordred was merciless. As the young vampire stumbled backwards the gang boss quickly moved to close the gap between them. Unless the hunter managed to roll out of the way or defend himself he’d quickly find the bottom of a boot colliding with his unprotected face. His sire was trying to beat him into the ground. Put him in a situation where there was no way he was going to be able to resist. That was the knight’s goal. A complete victory over his opponent. If there was anything to be relieved about at least the gang leader was no longer planning on killing the poor boy.
Instead he planned to knock him out and than drag him back to the gang’s base. Decades had past since Mordred had turned the young Asahi but even still a small part of him still say the small frightened child he had maimed all those years ago. Despite everything he had said and even though the black blood called him to ripped the boy to shreds, Mordred refused to do so. Instead he compromised with his inner darkness. He wouldn’t kill Yuuki but he would make him suffer. He’d force the boy to look at the darkness of his family. The cruelty of his father and the lives that were lost as a result. He’d force him to look at what remained of the daughter that had been taken away by Yuuto.
Before all that though he was going to have to figure out why the young vampire’s blood was black. It definitely wasn’t a normal predicament. After spending decades without seeing any sign of Yuuki, Mordred was fairly certain whatever this blood was had something to do with his sudden kidnapping. Something was definitely going on in the city if Mystopolis and the gang leader didn’t like it for a moment.
Asahi was in no condition at this point to put up a real fight, and the more blows that rained down upon him the more cemented that became. Asahi was overcome quickly enough, collapsing to the ground in an unconscious heap. While Asahi’s healing factor was doing its best, there was only so much it could do against the cuts it had already gotten and the onslaught that followed.
Not to mention the healing factor itself likely knew that the black blood was no good in the first place. Even his talent was in a tizzy of how to interpret the black ooze it had injested. Pure darkness, raw chaos… But what did that mean? That was a question that would have to wait until Ozaki was awake and alert to his own mind and functions. For now he was out like a light.
Once Mordred realized Ozaki had lost consciousness the abuse stopped. There was no point in kicking the boy down anymore since there was no way he was going to put up a fight now. Still the old vampire had to fight the urge to continue kicking his kidnapper to a pulp. While he was no longer in a blood starved raged the black blood was still egging him on. Encouraging him to rip apart the fool who had dared to insult his lost daughter. Yet Mordred stayed his hand. While the boy was an almost unforgivable jerk, he had once been on of Meggi's friends and was now one of his children.
No matter how much black blood was in his system he couldn't kill one of his own or risk disgracing Meggi's name by slaughtering someone she had cared for. At the same time, however, the gang boss wasn't simply going to leave the boy here on the streets without teaching him a lesson first. Mordred was going to make him take back everything he had said about his daughter even if he had to beat it out of the young vampire. As result he reached down and lifted Yuuki off the ground before throwing him over his right shoulder. Part of him wanted to drag the hunter's son across the ground by his feet but doing that would definitely attract unwanted attention. He was too tired to deal with police interference right now and his right hand was going to kill him if he made them have the pay off the cops for such a foolish act again.
"Well I believe its about time I brought you back home and introduced you to all your siblings isn't it? Not that you could answer me right now or even really have a choice in the matter"
