welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

The Vamp Wolf | Golden eyes would blink a few times. “I have?” What exactly would be scarier than deities? If this was about that one time with Mordred, he would have frankly considered some deity a much bigger enigma and something to be cautious about. Another vampire…regardless of what status and whatever they claimed to have, he’d at least know approximately what to expect of them, being he knew what they were and what their species let them do at least. Plus, deities were most likely even harder to kill than a vampire. Just because the gang man was a little too temperamental, he didn’t see it as grounds to see him as scarier than an actual deity. “Honestly though, people talk smack about things and other people all the time. It’s honestly pointless to try to police and punish literally everyone who ever utters such a statement. How did we come to being insulting anyway? I personally was just making a silly joke that didn’t even need to mean anything. If we’re going to assume that deities cannot even swallow a damn joke, then you’re really painting them as sensitive snowflakes who demand to only be revered and nothing else. Anyone could take offense at a joke in the end, but you won’t see me walking on eggshells around every person I ever speak to because of that. I’d be damned if that’s how I had to live my daily life.” Hell no, and he was not about to make special distinction for some Gods he didn’t even know. If their feelings were hurt so easily, then they ought to work on growing a thicker skin.
“Have they? I’d bet that some get their deity status simply from heritage, or through something that didn’t even require them to prove anything of that kind. And even if they are better than me in…let’s say their area of expertise, whatever they are a God of, that does not mean I can’t have them beat in others. I think it’d do them well to be humble sometimes. Who wants to follow an arrogant God who believes themselves to be above all by default? Not me, that’s for sure. As for the hierarchy thing, I just don’t like the aspect of us letting status basically erase someone’s negative qualities. No, just because you have a high position of power, it does not erase being a fucking asshole, and people should have the right to not bow to you without getting ridiculed for disrespecting some damn status. I do not like how society makes some people virtually untouchable just because they’re high class. It’s not always the person of lower status who is wrong, but many will by default take the side of the one in power and defend all kinds of disgusting acts.” Just like claiming Gods deserved respect by default, without even pausing to think whether they all really acted worthy of it. Why? Only because of the notion that deities are simply meant to be above everyone and should be worshipped? He did not understand that type of thinking. They could be corrupt too. Fallen angels and the like existed, so clearly being holy does not make you a wise ruler full of wisdom and care automatically.
Anyhow…. “What do vampires have to do with it? Now, I did not hear about that one before.” He was getting a little confused there, but apparently they couldn’t discuss that now. “Hmph, I’ll make you tell me later then.” He’d certainly like to know what that was about, assuming they were really speaking of the same issue here, which he was quite sure was the case. Unless the guy had a lot of these hidden sides and personalities, which would be extremely worrisome. He’d snort. “Oh no, luckily enough, Scholars and Hunters have very little reason to share classes in most cases, especially since he’s no fighter in general. I do not believe we take anything together right now. That sleepless dolt simply happens to be my roommate. I feel blessed, really.” Well, he was back to joking about, it would appear. |

The Nightmare would watch the pair quietly as he took in the words. His eyebrows would raise a bit at the comment about deities and Sharaku’s reaction to it. “Did you?” he would ask kind of curious what on earth could be scarier than spirits or deities in this world. However, the curiosity would die down a bit as he took in the rest of what was said, his eyes closing as a hand went to his chin in thought.
“We are not omnipotent, but I would argue that that some deities are and would hear things. Just as I would say some would smite you for just a joke. I can’t speak for the majority of them, but I would still take caution there is all. And well,” he’d reopen his eyes. “I suppose that is your choice if you decide to joke and stuff and while I don’t see it insulting. I wonder if maybe one will. I am not trying to ruin your fun….just worried you’ll anger something…” And maybe that was the problem. He worried too much. These two had some valid points and maybe his view on deities was a narrow one due to simply being taught only one side of the story. He had been taught that even if you didn’t worship them you should also respect them because they had powers beyond you and could smite you if one took offense…though maybe that narrow way of viewing them was invoke fear and worry in folk. Maybe…these two were right. Maybe deities while powerful were just like people and as such should be treated on equal ground. He wasn’t sure with that one as he frowned a bit in thought, his mind pecking at it for the moment and going a bit deeper with it when it came to the whole issue of bowing and hierarchy. “Being what you are, would you ever want to bow or cower before one?” he would ask Yuuki. He had to wonder if being turned didn’t give him that ability anymore. Wouldn’t it hurt him? It seemed that certain words related to the beings couldn’t be said without causing him discomfort, so what would happen if he was before one? That curiosity aside he would narrow his eyes after a while and focus on what Sharaku had to say. To this one, he would hum a bit.
“So what you are saying is that deities are like the rich and should not be treated any differently than anyone else unless they prove to you they deserve such respect? Also you see the hierarchy as a way of keeping the divide between those of higher power and those of lower power and in turn should not be observed or followed? Following it is being blind? Everyone is on equal ground? Is that correct?” he would ask, his tired brain trying to process, sort, and stash this new way of thinking within it. It was a strange thing to considering how the books and the way he was brought up was so different than what could be considered a rebellious view that he was getting from these two. It certainly gave him something to peck at later, but for now he would just store.
In any case, the talk of deities would eventually roll over to focusing on him. To the questions posed, the Nightmare would stretch his legs out a bit as he shook his head as he addressed each in reverse. “Before I became a being of the dream world I recall being part vampire. Though I don’t think my issue is as simple as adjusting to a sleeping pattern because of that side….I mean wouldn’t the shift to something else null that anyway?” Well he did sleep, but whether it was night or day didn’t seem to matter. He could crash at any time of day if tired enough, so he had to wonder if the vampire piece of him had anything to do with the sleeping at all…Probably wishful thinking. He knew what the cause was…but honestly was not ready for that battle and thankfully both dropped the subject…something the Nightmare would have to return the favor for some way; however, he wonder how long he could escape it. Sharaku did say he would make him tell him later, didn’t he? The Nightmare would sigh inwardly at that one as he gave his roommate a nod. “Fair enough,” he would say. Might as well agree to face it. He would have to in one form or another.
Oh look! A different topic!
“Hmph,” Rika would begin looking at the ground with a smirk. “I may not be a fighter or take any classes with you, but I can beat you to death with a book if need be. And I am not a dolt. Jeez mon.” He’d shake his head at that one. “Though I wonder if I should not be worried about you feeling blessed about me being your roommate alone.” Did that mean he was happy he only had to deal with him when he decided to come into the room? Or when they ended up meeting like this? Despite the minor curiosity, he wouldn't let it go into negativity land as he understood this was not to be taken seriously. So expression would remain amuse for now as he roll with the joke despite his tiredness.

“Well… Guess you wouldn’t think so.” Ozaki responded in regards to Sharaku’s and Rika’s surprise that apparently he had faced scarier than gods. Ozaki’s own regards to Mordred were a bit… Skewed.
Ozaki listened to the verbal ping pong between Rika and Sharaku for a bit. Wondering if this was how annoying he must sound to Sharaku when he got on one of his worried spirals.
When Rika asked him a question about whether he would bow or grovel to a god he responded curtly with a, “No.” Meanwhile doing his best to avoid even thinking about the kinds of emotions that kind of question could stir up in him. Just a no. It didn’t need any more explanation than that.
When Rika continued on talking Ozaki felt his annoyance at this whole topic of the gods rise.
Rika had almost. Almost closed the book on the part of the conversation on himself. But the fact that Rika had continued the conversation was telling him that maybe Rika really did want to talk about it. After all, he was continuing it when both he and Sharaku had shown they were willing to drop it. But… Again the problem may more be the place rather than the people, so Ozaki would just answer Rika’s question with a shrug.
If he didn’t want to talk about that he wouldn’t try and bring it up or continue the conversation.
Then the revelation that both Sharaku and Rika were roommates brought him partially out of his annoyance induced withdrawal. “Huh. Surprising to be hearing about this for the first time.” He could perhaps counter Sharaku in saying that there were at least a few classes Hunters and Scholars should share. After all, knowing each and every one of the hundreds upon hundreds of species in this world and their weaknesses was one that both scholars and hunters might need to know.
But he was right in that most of their classes did not intersect. And he just… Didn’t feel like getting into that. Even listening to this talk about deities left him drained and loathe to speak much. Rika was bound to keep worrying no matter what he said or did. And Sharaku didn’t need his backing him up. He had that conversation handled on his own. The annoyance resurfaced just as quickly as it had vanished.

The Vamp Wolf | "Well, I just couldn't care less. I'm not about to spend my whole life looking over my shoulder being paranoid of some deity not liking something I said. That's just no way to live. Would you stoop to that for anybody else? If not, then why for them?" Most of them had barely any involvement in 'normal' people's lives, so what was it to them even? There ought to be no need to spare them so much thought just because.
He'd cast Rika an odd look at the question about bowing to them. He was pretty sure their stances on that were rather solid, so why would the other vampire's answer anything but no? He didn't get why that needed to be asked, given how the conversation had been going so far. Still, he wouldn't comment on it himself.
Shifting a little to stretch his arms briefly, taking a bit of a break from his mock praying with a faint huff. "You've got some of that wrong. No. I do not think everyone is equal in the end. What I believe is that we should not eat everything we're spoonfed without question. Someone seemingly in high power could have gotten there with shady deceptions and is in fact trash that shouldn't even deserve as much as you. I prefer using my own head to gauge how worthy people are, rather than blindly believe the public hierarchy systems we're being told to follow. It's really not that complicated of a concept." He did not think it was. Hopefully that would be enough to stop the downpour of questions, because as much as he liked discussing, he did not want to explain himself over and over and confirm his words multiple times.
Uhh. "It's clearly not about that, so that line of questioning seems unnecessary." Where did changing sleep times even come from? Though he did have to wonder what this thing about having been part vampire before was all about...but not now. If they weren't bringing up these issues out here, then it was better to just stop it there.
He'd snort. A surprise, yes. "I know, right? I should have scared him off by now, honestly." Actually, it was in fact almost surprising it was somehow working for now. "Also, come on dear...I've taken a full on electrocution for you, and you think a book will kill me? Please. Anyway, I meant the blessing in general. Just that it happens to be you out of all the people. A blessed coincidence, really." He'd shake his head there, trying to act grumpy. |

Ookay, so he wasn’t exactly clear what this supposed scarier than gods thing was, but then again he didn’t see a need to press it any further either. Whatever was faced was clearly not going to make itself known without further prodding and while the Nightmare would’ve liked to do that, right now he was fine with not over digging and thinking the matter. His brain was already a tired mess and it was already being worked with other matters. Namely this god topic.
He did take notice as it went on that Yuuki seem to fall quiet and an emotion began to come off of him. One that suggested he was displeased with the matter all together. Hmm. Was he angry or annoyed? The Nightmare wasn’t sure and for the moment wouldn’t press the matter as he had Sharaku’s counters to deal with….and what a counter they were.
“W-well no, but still…” He honestly didn’t have a good counter for that. The guy did have a point. If gods were to be judged on the same level as everyone else…and he didn’t bow to just anyone, what really gave them the free pass and made them the exception to the rule? If he thought about it logically, if no one taught him about gods or how to supposedly behave before them, would he even see them as different or worthy of being bowed to? No. No he wouldn’t. So why was it that if there was so many ways gods could be approached and viewed, why was it emphasized they had to have the highest respect and should be worshiped and bowed down too? The questions were there, but for now he’d tuck them in the back of his mind. He’d have to deep dive on this at later time.
Speaking of questions, he’d get a short response and an odd look at the whole bowing question. Guess he should’ve expected that considering the matter as a whole with these two. Even so he had to ask…even if the answer to that was apparent. Speaking of answers and moods, the next set of words delivered did indeed shut the Nightmare up as he gave his roommate a narrowed look as he struggled with some emotion within. “No…it is not complicated when broken down like that…even so…Do you find me dumb because I believed what society said about them?” His voice was quitter than usual as at this point he wasn’t even going to try fake being pleasant or not being even more moodier/emotional thanks to being tired as hell. Was his mind going into a negative zone and was it the other’s fault? Yes to the first and no to the second. The conversation made him think a lot and question himself…and that in turn drove him down the hole of negativity until it finally surfaced as the question posed. Now how the other would take this was completely unknown, but hopefully that wouldn’t cause any drama…especially not in front of another. After all both had probably had enough of that shit storm the last time to last a life time.
Well wherever that dip into darkness went, the conversation would eventually turn towards him, but thankfully not go too far as Yuuki decided not to really answer his question and Sharaku’s words while it could’ve opened another sort of door, the Nightmare wouldn’t let it as he shrugged as he stretched his legs out a bit before him as he sat. He would observe his shoes taking note one had a hole in it as he gave a shrug. “Maybe it is…” he would say and leave it at that as he wiggled the exposed and bare toe that could be seen through the hole. Heh. He really was tired. He would’ve never have gone anywhere with flaws like this in his design. Ah well.
Moving along, the Nightmare would find himself being pulled out of his gloom by the joking nature of him being roommates with Sharaku. “Heh. If I haven’t driven you to run or hang me then, there is nothing you can really do to scare me away. You’re stuck with me.” Eh sure the other was a the polar opposite of him….and yes…he did do things that drove him batty and yet….somehow he was fine with that and didn’t mind Sharaku. He kind of liked him there.
“Eh-heh,” the Nightmare shifted uncomfortable at the reminder of the past. “Yes you did. I’d be disappointed if a book could take you out,” he tried to roll with the joke though it was an awkward affair…maybe no one would notice. And what was that? The Nightmare would blink at the last part as he saw the other actions. Was he saying he actually liked Rika being there too? Or was he reading too much into it? He wanted to question it, but instead just shook his head with a light smile. “Well I suppose there are worse roommates than me.” Well at least the words came out smooth enough and his smile and body language were natural enough even if the words confused him slightly.

“No dumber than anyone else who bought it.” Ozaki responded bluntly, yet dispassionately, to Rika’s question. Which was honestly the least rude thing he could bring himself to say at this point to the student. He let Rika and Sharaku banter between themselves without comment until the conversation got back around to them being roommates.
He mostly snorted a little at the mention of Sharaku being surprised he hadn’t scared Sharaku off. Yah… Sharaku could have rather of an abrasive personality at times. But he had a conviction that Ozaki could not help but admire and respect.
Electrocution? Ozaki’s head tilted slightly at this. That sounded like quite the story. But of course electricity and holy stuff were quite different things for vampires. But Sharaku knew that, and his variant allowed him not to be allergic to holy things in the first place anyhow. Didn’t really need stating there. No need to speak. The mere idea felt like too much effort at this point. Honestly he kind of just wanted to leave.

The Vamp Wolf | Tch. He honestly did not wish to deal with such questions. There was arguably no right answer to that. If he said no, that'd be a lie. If he said yes, he was bound to upset the guy somehow. Why did Rika even ask? It wasn't like he wanted more reasons to be depressed, did he now? And Ozaki seemed to be going for a somewhat vague response. As dumb as others who fell for it does not mention how dumb any of those people were in the first place. For all one knows, you'd think them brilliant and thus the Nightmare was not dumb at all either. It was all up to interpretation with that one.
Sighing faintly, Sharaku would move to stand up, giving Rika a pointed look with a raised eyebrow. "Are you going to be upset if I say yes? Because if that's the case, I'm not sure why you asked." He really wasn't. Hoping to hear no wasn't the best strategy. In any case, he'd remain briefly silent, until the matter of scaring people off was brought up. At which, he'd step forward to face the Nightmare more closely, putting one foot up on the edge of the fountain beside where the other was sitting to get a better leverage. "Trust me, I can always make that decision. Just because I haven't yet, it doesn't mean all is safe forever." He had a surprisingly high tolerance, despite his bouts of annoyance at people. That said, he was also capable of slamming the door hard in someone's face at any point, were they simply too much of a pain in the ass to be bothered with anymore.
"...I see that flew over your head." He'd shake his head with a huff. Regardless of other wording, his comment about being roommates being a blessing was still a sarcastic one, and was by no means supposed to imply the guy was a good roommate. He wasn't the worst no, as he'd consider someone that if they were uncooperative and tried to fight over every little thing in the room, but this here was not exactly ideal either. They weren't the closest of friends after all, and issues did come up. "Anyway..." Moving away from the fountain slightly, he'd look off into the distance. "I'm getting tired of this. I'm sure I've been here long enough as is. Maybe we should take a hike off to somewhere else? Unless you're happy to watch the water for longer." |

The Nightmare’s gloom was apparent as he gave Ozaki a narrowed look considering his words. Oh, he could’ve poked at that one alright. Demanded to know what that exactly meant. He could’ve gotten real nasty and dramatic about it in a flash, but he didn’t as he blinked tiredly at the teacher before his golden orbs slid towards Sharaku. To his question, he was quiet for a moment as he let what was said sink in for a bit. Was he going to be upset about it?
“…No… I am not upset. Besides…it wasn’t like no was going to make things better anyway.”
That was the simple flat answer the other would get. The Nightmare at this point was too much of mess from other factors to really draw up enough energy to cause a shit storm. Even if he did have said energy, he still wouldn’t do it. There was no point. It was just an opinion after all…so it didn’t matter. He would tell himself that even if it was a hard thing to accept and swallow. That aside, he would take note that Ozaki was still quiet and giving off an air that he wasn’t pleased with the situation both energy wise and the way he spoke; however, before he could formulate any question that he could poke the guy with, his roommate would make a move that would draw his attention as the other got closer to him and placed his foot on the fountain.
Looking up at the other with tired eyes and give a slight smirk, the Nightmare would respond. “Now where in all that did I ever say things were safe?” He was quite aware that if the other really wanted something, he’d more than likely get it. Though he wasn’t about to let the guy just run over him when it came down to it. If the other did try something odd or insane, he would try to resist the best way he could. Anyway…
“Hm?” The Nightmare’s smirk would disappear replaced by confusion as the other mentioned that his comment went right over his head. It had? So was the comment about him being a blessing not to be taken literal? It was a joke? The Nightmare wasn’t quite sure on that front considering their odd relationship to begin with, but he would soon let it go as the other moved away and shortly after suggested a hike.
“Well, I was planning to walk anyway not stare at the water. If you don’t mind, I’ll come along,” he would say shifting to get off the side of the fountain. Besides maybe if he could just walk long enough he might actually go to sleep….

"I actually should be heading home." Ozaki said, nodding towards the dawn, which had peaked by this point. While his umbrella could shield what skin was exposed, he was tired. Plus. He was just kind of... Done with this conversation. Perhaps this conversation was done too but... He just didn't feel like talking any more. At this point it wasn't even like he was annoyed or angry. Indeed, if Rika were attuned to his emotional state right now he might even get the sensation of a complete void of any emotion whatsoever. He stood up. "See you guys later." He said briefly and started walking off.
