welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

As the clock struck three, Kaiden carefully adjusted his cards on the table, looking down at his hand for another moment before his steely blue eyes shot back up to his opponent, who sat nervously across from him. Kaiden was sure he had this game in the palm of his hands.. After all, he was a master at it. He had the best cards out there, and this kid was just a rookie. Unluckily for Kaiden's enemy, he had bet $20 on this game.
"Uhh... O- Okay! I place my warlock card here! That gives me two additional mana crystals and with that I get to move my "Dark Terror" from the void into my hand! After which I can place on the field and use it's side effect "Insanity" to disable one of your monsters for 2 consecutive turns! I use the side effect on your monster "White Eyes Blue Dragon" to get rid of the protective ward over your core, and then move my monster "Shrieking Banshee" to attack it head on! Dealing 1200 Attack points! With that I end my turn!"
Oh this kid was almost as smug as Kaiden... But he had planned for this all along.
"Oh that must've felt good." Kaiden responded in a calm and collected manner. Something that instantly made his opponent worried. "However, it won't be enough to save you!" Kaiden laughed, slamming a card down before him. "I call upon the Goddess of Valantier, rival of the void! Upon placing this card all void type monsters are instantly vanquished back to their realm! With that done, I play my monster card this round. "Black Eyes Red Dragon"! The twin of "White Eyes Blue Dragon" When both cards are on the same side at the same time, they can combine both their attack points to TRIPLE the total output! Shattering through your ward and dealing 4500 Attack points! Instantly killing your core and winning the game!" Kaiden laughed, dropping the cards on the table as he leaned back. The other kid stared wide eyed at his deck... Kaiden had an extremely rare card, the "Goddess of Valantier" that almost always guaranteed victory when the enemy used a void type deck. Top that off with the rare dragon twin cards, Kaiden thought he was pretty much unbeatable. He had spent many years collecting cards for the popular card game "Gathering the Magic", so by this point he was fairly good at it.
After receiving the money, the kid took his deck and left Kaiden alone at the table. The library was pretty quiet today. "Uhh.. If anyone else wants to play "Gathering the Magic", I'm willing to bet! I will allow teams as well if more than one wants to challenge me!" He called out. He only received annoyed looks so far, so Kaiden decided to avoid eye contact with the people at the surrounding tables and continue to adjust his deck. Waiting for some worthy challengers...

[attr="class","boneshatter3"]It was hardly a strange thing for Clementine to be stuffing her face into books or taking notes of things she'd seen around. The curious alien was always interested in expanding her knowledge and could never seem satisfied not having enough of it. Yet, her own twin was a little different in her approach, it made the realization of those whom met her that she was surely nothing less than attracting opposites. Still, the two had plenty of commonalities that would make it obvious of their relationship. Still, her sister could be a.. bit of a crybaby sometimes, but purely in her own opinion to which she's told her on a number of occasions. As her roommate as well, it wasn't as though either one had a daily dose of one another. But in the end, she wouldn't want to be roomed with anyone else if she had to choose.
Sitting peacefully in the Library, the 7th grade student wizzed her eyes through line after line, page after page in a nearly inhuman pace. Training herself to read at an extremely fast pace had taken lots of discipline, but she had the motivation to do so and it's always paid off in her favor. Of course, she's taken her time to read, but the most part was always left to her own pace depending on the book of her choosing. Yet, a noise erupted in the distance. Someone being loud in a library? How incredibly rude... With a sigh, she slammed her book shut after another loud disruption of her reading. Someone was gonna get it... The point of libraries was for a quiet, peaceful area to read without distractions, not for large chants and battlecries.
Scooping up the book she started on, the young girl jumped down from her seat and pushed her seat in before she started off in the direction the loud noises came from. On her way over, a boy whom seemed to be upset and annoyed, holding something in his hand that she couldn't tell at a glance rushed by her. Taking a moment to stop and watch, the voice from before had her turn back over and a look of annoyance washed over an otherwise emotionless face. "Kaiden..." She muttered to herself, walking over while he announced his desire for opponents. Lightly slamming the book down on the table, the girl looked up to her elder brother, glaring at him. "Onii-chan... Why are you making an idiot of yourself?" She asked, pulling up a chair beside his and climbing into it. "Why must you play these silly childish games? You could put the money from these cash grab games into more beneficial things, you know... like getting a girlfriend." She looked down to his deck of cards, pulling off the top card and looking at it. "At least the art isn't subpar... for a carbon copy, mass produced piece of paper." Kaiden was now just quietly mulling over his cards, making sure everything would be ready for the next game when a familiar voice hit his ears. He turned with a curious glance when he heard his little sister Clementine approaching. She asked him why he was making an idiot of himself, and at first it took hima moment to understand her meaning. However, as soon as he made the connection to the game he simply rolled his eyes. "I don't expect someone like you to understand the level of intellect it takes to master a game like this." He responded sharply, getting very defensive over his favourite card game.
"Right, I'll just use the money of my hard earned winnings to BUY a girlfriend." Kaiden responded, looking through his deck again to realize a card was missing, only to quickly snatch it out of his sister's hand. "What would you even know about such things? Unlike you, Clam, I've BEEN in a relationship before." While that statement was true, it probably wasn't the best example. Evident by the nervous look that formed on Kaiden's face as he finished that sentence. His last relationship didn't end exactly well, and bringing it up now with his sister who was still too young to discuss such things with made the boy uncomfortable. "Besides, don't you have better things to do than make fun of my hobbies?" He asked the girl, raising an eyebrow at her.

Several days ago shortly after studying, the young teenager had checked numerous books on different subjects out of the library. Now, the young girl had to return what books she had borrowed and register more of them so she could get even further ahead of the curve. Politely the long haired woman went around putting everything she had taken prior back in the exact place it belonged, then taking anything she needed from the stuffed shelves, steps quiet and movements small. It was during her endeavor to finish picking out books that she noted a slight commotion of familiar voices. "Yeah, but the art could be so much better if the artist actually cared enough to make them unique." she agreed with her sister on the fact the cards were subpar, but growing up around those twins she believed the same thing about stuff like her sports equipment, just mass produced tools. "Are you so sure that's what you want big brother?" the dark haired teenager grimaced slightly, the twins could be handfuls with their hobbies just like she could. Only, each of them were a handful in a different way. "Which one are you getting Clem?" finally she nodded to her sisters book, clutching five to her own chest.

[attr="class","boneshatter3"]"Someone like you"? What exactly was the point he was trying to make with that comment? She raised a brow in response, looking up to her elder brother from the odd way that he had responded to her technical disrespect of his gameplay. "If by 'intellect' you mean the mathematic skill it takes to count down from 8000? Yes, by god you're a regular Einstein, Onii-chan..." Her stare carried no physical sign of sarcasm despite what she had replied with herself, looking down to the card in her hand to examine the monster. "And who decides these names? It sounds more like the titles of mmorpg bosses than for a silly child's card game." Staring at his prized card he used at the end, wondering what appeal it gave to others.
Logically, she could equate the way she will read through book after book, novel after novel, or textbook after textbook. While there was some similarities, she couldn't find anything worthwhile in it but to keep up with. There was zero reaction when Kaiden snatched his card from her hand, almost as though she were staring at the blank card in her hand that replaced it, but it only lasted a moment before Lavender had come over to the two. A quint surprise, but it wasn't entirely something she could see having missed. It wasn't until Kaiden's next couple of comments that the younger girl had taken her attention right to him and off of their sister. "I don't believe you're old enough or have enough hot air in your head for one of those inflatable ones." She paused and fixed herself up to be sitting in her seat more upright, placing her hands on top of the book she'd set on the table. "Also, I am Twelve years old. What experiences could I possibly have?" Of course, she didn't expect an answer, just the usual annoyed stare he gave when her comments got to him. It wasn't that she tried to, it just always kinda came out the way she thought it.
Looking down to her book, Clementine had looked up to the dark haird girl and shrugged her shoulders. "I simply had plans to read and kill time before my Psychology class was to begin. I've been through several so far, I'm just pacing myself at the moment." Her eyes scanned the few books in her arms, pressing against her chest as she tried to keep them still from tumbling over. "I take you're prepping for classes, Lavender?" She guessed, unsure of whether she was in the right ballpark or not. Kaiden's patience was wearing thin with his sibling. The monotone reactions he got from her were not exactly entertaining him in the slightest. However, his attention on Clementine was shifted over to the new arrival, Lavender, his other sister. It seemed she had also come to terrorize him. Why did the universe place him with such insufferable sisters? Yeah he still loved them, but that didn't make them any less annoying from time to time. Especially now. Granted Kaiden was only acting this way because both of them were practically disrespecting his entire childhood. From a very early age Kaiden had become obsessed with this particular card game, and had begun building the current deck he had since before any of his sisters were old enough to even remember it. Not that it mattered at all to any of them... They just didn't understand it, so they disregarded it. TYPICAL.
"For your information, I am content with the current artwork on these cards. Plus these ones are really old, the new ones are a lot more uh... Flashy. More detailed." He responded to Lavender. Kaiden simply scoffed at Clementine's remark about the hot air around his head, as if she were acting any different. When she asked him what sort of experience she could possibly have, Kaiden simply laughed. "Exactly. None. So you have no right to judge me on my love life, thank you very much." He grumbled, turning his attention back towards the table. He went on to adjust his deck, setting up the stage for the next round of games while his two sisters discussed their studies. "Yeah, yeah, fascinating... Could you two talk about your boring books somewhere else? You're scaring off the competition." Kaiden said while staring at the table with one hand on his chin, carefully assessing his strategy for the next round.
