"It's way too early for me to think about college. Well, not really. But I think I'd be getting way ahead of myself if I started thinking about college now. At least I can continue to go here instead of having to transfer somewhere else." Kaname said to Ariya. The Ghost/Human hybrid did not even know what she wanted to be yet. Other than alive, that was. That was a given. Whatever the definition of alive was nowadays, she had to meet it.

"What about you? What do you want to study in college?" Kaname asked the fox-girl.

"Well, I'm more so going to do college stuff as a sort of insurance that I'll actually get a job somewhere. Although I have been thinking of becoming a florist. Flowers always make me feel calm, and they're just beautiful to look at, so being a florist might be my kind of work." Ariya replied. She then looked down at her sketchpad, and looked back at Kaname. "Well, either that or getting into some kind of art-related career. I'm still mostly leaning towards florist, though." she added. She then smiled sheepishly and said, "I know it sounds like I'm thinking things too far ahead. I tend to do that a lot, but sometimes I like figuring out where I want to be in the later part of my life." And knowing where I want to be isn't an easy thing for me. she thought to herself.

"You're a step ahead of me. I don't even know what I want to be." Kaname admitted to Ariya. She honestly did not know what she wanted to do with herself. That was not good. She needed at least a basic career plan before she went to college... if she got that far. Kaname was just trying to make it through high school first.

"My mother's an elementary school teacher and my father's an economics professor. Those are two dramatically different fields. I'm not sure if I want to go into teaching." Kaname stated. Her parents were both teachers. However, that did not mean that the hybrid wanted to become one. Being a teacher took a certain skillset, a certain something that was hard to quantify. Kaname was not sure if she had that something needed to be a successful teacher.

"Oh, do your parents want you to be a teacher like them? Or are they okay with you doing something else?" Ariya asked. She wasn't really trying to be nosy with that question. She was just feeling a little curious, and wanted to continue socializing. At least until they were done talking. Ariya remembered a few of her cousins who had parents that were clearly trying to force their career choices on them, and she didn't like what she saw of that, though she hadn't done anything about it. Not that she could have, anyway, as she really didn't the ability or right to.

Ariya simply hoped this wasn't another case of that type of family situation. She was sure that kind of issue happened in plenty of families, but she still didn't like it. Not that that was any of her business though. She smiled at Kaname though. "Well, I'm sure whatever it is you decide to become later on, your parents will support you." she said. I might just be overthinking this, or maybe I'm just being a little overdramatic. I'm such a weird person. she thought to herself.

As the other's spoke she listened to the felines question, sighing slightly when he asked the question laughing after the sigh had ended. "Not currently, I don't even really know where to start looking my brother's is his armor but I don't know what mother was or what father's is." she didn't have much of a baseline to search off since her twin sisters also didn't have theirs yet to her knowledge. Turning she sat down so she could see the other two but remain sitting next to the cat, reaching her hand over to scratch between his ears, it wasn't as if she hadn't seen other people get away with such. Lavender was still listening to the conversation of the other two even if she didn't have much to interject at the moment, not a single clue existing to what she wanted to do with her future.

"My parents? It's a bit complicated." Kaname said to Ariya.

"They cared for me physically and made sure that I had food, clothes, a safe home, and a decent education, but they were so involved in their jobs that I kinda fell by the wayside. There wasn't any physical abuse or mental abuse, but I was just kinda there. They didn't have too much time to take up with me because their students and their jobs came first." Kaname explained to the fox-girl. It was a cliche story, but it was what it was. She still liked her parents, but she wished that they had had a little more to do with her after the incident with the sword and her change into a Ghost/Human Hybrid.

"But you know what they say... the cobbler's children have no shoes." Kaname quipped. Kaede and Adam Hayamoto were so busy teaching the children of others that they did not teach their own daughter very much. That irony was funny and sad at the same time.

"Oh, that is true." Ariya replied. Although she felt relieved that there wasn't any real abuse involved, she was a bit bad that Kaname had been, in a sense, neglected by her parents. "It's too bad, really. Parents should always make time for their kids." she said. "Er...not that I'm pitying you or anything. Just sympathizing." she added quickly, not wanting to make anyone mad.

Ariya smiled at her acquaintance. "I'm still sure that your parents, when they're able to pull away from their work, will support you in whatever you decide to do." she said. She noticed that Kaname was carrying a sword. "So...um, what's with the sword?" she asked out of curiosity.

"They were good parents. They still are. Instead of throwing me out like some parents did when their kid was discovered to be a supernatural, they sent me here. I'm better off than many kids." Kaname said to Ariya. Perhaps the silver-haired girl made them sound worse than they were. Her parents were surprisingly accepting of her, though still a bit worried. They were not quite sure what to make of their daughter being a newly minted Ghost/Human Hybrid. When the fox-girl's question turned to the sword, the conversation got serious.

"So you wanna find out what's up with the sword, huh?" Kaname asked Ariya. The truth would be more than a bit heavy. Kaname would tell her if she wanted to hear it.

"It's a bit of a story. Do you wanna hear it?" Kaname asked the girl.

Ariya silently noted the seriousness in both Kaname's tone of voice, and her facial expression, when she asked her if she really wanted to know about the sword. She got slight uncomfortable now, though she tried not to show it. Ariya didn't really have anything else to do, except maybe do some sketches in the garden, but she could always do more of that later.

"Oh, uh, well you don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I'll understand if it's too uncomfortable for you to talk about." Ariya replied. Although she actually kind of did want to learn just a little bit about the sword, she wouldn't force Kaname to tell her.

"I'm fine with telling you about it, Ariya. I've come to terms with it." Kaname assured the fox-girl. The hybrid was willing to tell. She hoped that Ariya was willing to listen.

"It started one night when I was twelve years old. Someone broke into our home and stole my father's favorite sword. I was the only person who saw the theft, so I chased after the thief. I chased him into a park. He turned on me and stabbed me in the chest with the sword." Kaname started the explanation.

"I actually died for three minutes. Then I came back. The thief had already wiped my blood off the sword and was examining it to assess its value when I sat back up. He got so scared that he ran away and tripped on a tree root. He stabbed himself in the chest and bled out, but unlike me, he didn't come back to life." Kaname gave a short and sweet version of the story to Ariya.

"I took the sword back to my family, explained how I came to be part of my species, and the rest is history. That sword's been by my side a good deal of the time I've been here. It's like it has somehow bonded with me." Kaname finished her explanation to Ariya. Hopefully the fox-girl would not be too creeped out to have anything to do with Kaname.

Whoa. Ariya thought to herself as she listened to Kaname's story. She silently wondered what it would've been like to be dead for three minutes, and then return as a half-ghost person. She wasn't sure how her parents would've reacted if that had happened to her. It almost reminded Ariya of a tv show she used to watch when she still lived with her parents.

"That's a cool sword, but man what happened to you seems pretty intense. How'd your parents take it when you told them what happened to you?" she asked.

"My parents freaked out. I don't know if they were more worried about me or the sword. Anyway, it took a lot of explaining, but I don't think they really believed me. They chalked it up to me suffering blood loss." Kaname explained to Ariya.

"It took an accidental demonstration of my Invisibility ability before they believed a word I said. It happened when I explained how I came back to life. I accidentally turned invisible... after that I had no problem convincing them of my new status." Kaname said to the fox-girl. It was kind of sad that it took an accidental demonstration of newly acquired supernatural powers for her parents to believe her, but it was what it was. It had been said and done.

"After that they told me to keep what happened a secret from the neighborhood. I kept quiet about it and when I started high school they sent me to Eldritch Academy. And that's why I'm here." Kaname finished her brief recap of what happened after she came back to life as a Ghost/Human Hybrid.

"Wow, seems like you had a pretty....interesting life before you came here." Ariya said. Must've been tough for her. Having to keep your newly reborn self a secret from everyone until you can go to a place like this. I wonder what all the other parts of the country are like, and how would they react to someone who was half human and half something else. she thought to herself. Maybe one day, when she was able to, she would go do a little traveling to see.

Ariya looked around the gardens again, and smiled a little. She then looked back at Kaname, and said, "Well, this school is a nice place. And at least you are alive. That's the most important part."

"Yeah. I got a second chance at life. Not too many people get that luxury." Kaname admitted to Ariya. Besides the fact that the person who killed her died himself, that was another reason why Kaname was so accepting of her new life as a Ghost/Human Hybrid. She was still alive while many other people who had suffered premature death were not. That tended to put things into perspective.

"Life can be rough, but it beats death." Kaname told the fox-girl. The three minutes she was dead were among the most unsettling three minutes of her life Kaname had ever experienced. It was hard to describe, but things did not feel right. She felt disembodied and afraid.

Ariya nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it probably gives you more reason to enjoy living. You tend to stop taking your life for granted when you almost lose it." she said. It started to cool down just a little bit out in the gardens, and she felt a cool breeze on her face. She looked up and saw that the sky was just beginning to gain a bit of an orange hue, and that the sun was starting to set.

Ariya looked at Kaname and smiled. "Well, I should really return to my dorm now. The sun's setting, and I do my best sketches when it's still bright out. I had a lot of fun talking with you. Perhaps we'll see each other out here again tomorrow, or some other time if you're too busy. I usually come out here to the gardens to sketch after all my classes are done for the day, so you can always find me here. See you." she said, and began walking out of the gardens. She would be back here tomorrow as always.

ooc: I'll have Ariya return to the gardens in the next post.
