welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Note: If prior signed up via registration thread, you're more than welcome to post freely! If a student wishes to join otherwise, please feel free to contact me or sign up and post right after! [attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"]As a practical use of the day at hand, the opening of the class setting was much different than one could come to expect. Despite the changing of season turning the warmth of summer into the eventual beginning of the best season to exist, there felt the need to have the class in the outdoors. Still, the weather and sunlight, the little breeze to pass through few trees about the surrounding area of the grounds was a show that her need to bring a class of students into the outdoors was little to the cause but a show that her sign was less than careless or in any sadistic form... less she ended up gaining students with a fear of the outdoors or just those too cowardly to keep to the registration they'd volunteered for. There was no real need to try and weed out people as though they had signed up for the military or to martyr themselves for a cause, but a little give for the take. Open the game with a little neutral standing and then when the chips were down she could call out all the bluffs, divvy up the pot, and turn some lost causes into champions. Ultimately, that was a farsighted goal.
The field was barren. Not a soul to be found or tools of any form to indicate they may or may not be in the right location, but anyone strolling up to the normal classroom for the day would find the door locked and a note to show they were to report to the field. When there, they would only a very large purple colored tarp laid out, staked into the ground the corners over top of the grassy area. An unnatural thing at the least, however their note would show that the directions were to find said tarp and be seated on it. Her goal for the day was to let the students become acquainted in a free environment, free of stressful surroundings akin to the school. In her experiences, the confines of really any building is more inducing of stress, while the feeling of the outdoors provides a more sensible and easy going way of socializing.
The last noted thing to which people were to note in it were that social driven electronics and handheld games were forbidden to be used outside. That meant cellphones and other devices had to be kept away in pockets or bags to which they would not be allowed to be used. Of course, in wait of the teacher to actually arrive may cause one or two to play on them anyway, she had her ideas in mind to make them regret going against the dragoness' rules. Sususmu doesn't have high expectations for fencing class, if only because of the name. Bladed weapons class would be a clumsy name but a nicely technical one, swordplay class would have a kind of pirate-y ring to it, and knifefighting class would just plain be badass. But fencing? As far as he knows, all that involves is piddling around with blunted rapiers in stupid all-white masked uniforms. Useless in real combat and a waste of everyone's time.
Well, he'll just have to wait and see. Sususmu is the first to arrive at the purple tarp, as usual leaving a river of blood in his wake over the lush green grass. Now no students have an excuse to be lost; they could just follow the red trail. He doesn't want the instructor (who is, apparently, late to her own damn class) to yell at him for making a mess of the tarp, so he sets cross-legged just outside of the edge. He feels ridiculous out here alone, so he resolves to leave if no one else arrives within five minutes.
Tick tock, tick tock.

Jinn walked calmly towards the outside area where apparently the class was held. Jinn walked calmly around with a pair of slim fit dark grey jeans and a white shirt over his shoulder. It was warm enough to walk around without a shirt so he took the opportunity to do it. He had to keep his tan up anyways. It was his incubus talking to him to always look as good as possible although it mostly went automatically.
Jinn reached the place and saw someone already sitting under the purple tarp. He nodded lightly towards the other student before he sat down in the middle of the grass. He waited a few seconds before he laid down on his back so he could really soak in the sun. Jinn loved just laying around in the sun. It was one of his favorite activities when he had nothing to do.

Kaname was excited. Fencing class was going to be one of the only times that no one complained about her carrying a sword. Well, a rapier, but it was still a sword. She did not get why everyone was so on edge about her katana when she never brought it out. Oh well... today they would have no right to complain because fencing class was a school-sanctioned class that she was taking.
Kaname entered the room and found the bird-human fellow from the other day. He was patiently waiting for class to begin. She wondered what mistreatment the poor fellow had experienced between yesterday and now. Maybe teachers were nervous because he did not look as normal as the rest of the students. Were they calling for him to be hidden away somewhere?
"Hi there. How's it going?" Kaname asked him without a care. She was excited for this class.

Olivia didn't like leaving the library, much less the school building in general. Not that she was hermit, she didn't find much trouble with the act of leaving... It's just that given the choice she would rather be locked up in the library alone. But that couldn't be the case, sadly. This was still a school and a school required you to go from class to class. A bit sad for her, but what was she going to do, cry about it? No, she sucked things up and went with it. That was how she worked. Besides, given her history, she needed to be able to fend for herself anyway. Fencing would end up helping her more than hindering anything. The ghost made her way across the field, very easily spotting the purple tarp from a mile away. Not that she could have missed it, of course. If the vibrant color wasn't enough there was a trail of crimson blood that one of her fellow classmates felt behind. Lovely. She wasn't sure what their teacher had in mind, or why they were out here in the middle of a random field with a tarp... But well, that's why they were here. To figure this thing out.
Finding her way to the trap slowly Olivia stood on the edge of it, looking out to her fellow classmates who were already here. She only recognized one of them, the girl with the katana. But given their other encounter, she didn't seem to like her too much. However, the ghost didn't really care all too much. Most people ended up hating her anyway. Figuring it was for the best the girl knelt down and took a seat near the closest corner of the tarp, looking away from the three students with a pout. Where was their teacher? A teacher, late to her own class? She wasn't exactly making a good first impression.

Humans were an adaptable species and Lavender had never once questioned if she should be able to excel in more than one environment because her kind was known for doing so. Yet, this class may be the window into a discovery she wouldn't expect, information about herself that no one around her could ever expect to come to light. Anyway back to current time, she had headed to class early and thus arrived to seat herself on the purple tarp several minutes before class was supposed to start. However, the seated student changed what she was doing after a few of her peers arrived standing up to walk over to Olivia slowly, no rush here. "Are you sure that you want to be sitting so far from everyone else?" an idle finger tapped against the pendant strung around her neck, fiddling with it slightly. "You can sit with me if you want." No one should be left all on their own, not each person had to get along but they should at least be able to sit together. Lavender could understand someone with low desire to interact she'd had shy friends and such before, yet she was not just about to let someone be ostracized, even by themselves, not if she could do even the smallest thing about it.

Crishendia was flying towards the area, rather than just walking there. Landing near the tarp, she did like the chosen color, but didn't really step onto it yet as she looked over the people already there. Rather uncertain, she did recognize some faces, but upon seeing one, she recalled a 'don't stare' situation, so averted her gaze and instead searched for where the teacher was while she started to move around onto the tarp. Her wings then started to fade slowly away, honestly she didn't know if she was allowed to have wings during class or not. She usually hid them since they took a lot of space. Especially inside buildings it wasn't very helpful when you took up an entire corridor. They weren't that easy to fold away.

[attr="class","biggie"] [attr="class","textie"]Late to her own class was not what was going on. Sure, in some aspects of technicality and of serious notations she could be considered late by the pupils she had been staring at with her own. One by one, she had slowly watched the class building on the tarp, not caring with the bell ringing whom had been late if any at all. Her concern was to watch for interactions. A little secondary study of how humans this young interacted amongst one another in a casual setting like a school. Mainly of her own curiosity did she plan it this way and let them see about wanting to expect some big reunion, but so far it seemed she'd gotten little to what she had hoped for. Of course, nothing seemed to be wrong with whom had arrived. Nothing short of the scent of blood on her nose now, even that showed it was nothing more than something she was ever more happy to have had the tarp for.... if he was using it. Well, at least on the upside it would be pooling in one location and not flooding the courts with it. Last thing she needed to have was an abrupt argument over something from which someone could not control about themselves. Now seemed like the appropriate time to come into the picture. Just a few to start and it made getting a few ground rules and introductions easier. She hadn't really been expecting about 30 or so people to show up either.. and honestly her social skills with other humanoid like people were.. last century. To really go about socializing to improve was her end game, and for the most part she truly felt like she was improving, but after a lifetime of actually speaking with one speech pattern, it would be hard to change around so easily. Coming down off of the lower rooftop that she had sat upon to gaze over the students, Morgan slowly made her approach toward the small group of students until she'd stopped in front of the tarp. Her eyes looking over each student one by one for only a quick glance before a smile formed on her face, giving a light curtsy with the pinching of her current attire. "Good day, everyone. Welcome to Fencing class, though do not think namely a rapier and fancy mesh will be all of what you learn her." She took a moment to walk around the tarp until she could feel she was properly facing the entirety of the students whom showed up so that they could all hear her with no struggle. She suddenly looked down, seeing the boy laying out as though he were sunbathing, giving him a rather icy glare. "Thee who hath come to think this is a summer retreat." She directed towards him with a light nudge of her foot. "Sit thyself up and start introductions of thyself to the class." Her goal was not to make an example in such a manner... but he asked for it. Oh, there's the girl who witnessed his embarrassing fall the other day. Sususmu sure hopes she doesn't come over—too late. "Nun'ya business," he responds warily, as if he's doing anything which might garner suspicion. Clearly he's not about to tone down the hostility, though he does direct a sharp nod in the direction of her weapon. "Cool katana. I 'ave one. Not very good with it, though." And there he goes, volunteering personal information about himself to someone he barely knows. He shuts his beak with a decisive clack.
The instructor arrives from... a rooftop? How long had she been up there? Her choice of clothing is odd, too. First as a maid, and now as an ice skater or ballroom dancer or whatever—why do combat instructors never dress appropriately for their own classes? This academy is ridiculous.
Her manner of speech is oddly formal to the point of archaic. Immediately after her warm welcome, she sets upon a boy sunbathing atop the tarp. It's an abrupt transition, but Sususmu personally thinks the boy deserved it. It's stupid of him to show laziness in a fencing class.

Kaname could tell that the bird-human still did not care for her. He probably thought that she was trying to gain his trust before kicking him in a vulnerable moment. Kaname was not that kind of person, but she was not going to bother him if he did not want to interact with her. She perked up somewhat when he mentioned owning a katana. "I've had this one two years. I haven't used it all that much, really. That's why I'm here. Though I doubt that fencers use katanas." Kaname said to him, attempting to return his attempt at small talk. It was clear that he did not want to talk very much, so she would leave it up to him to resume or end the conversation.
Kaname spotted the instructor, who wore a beautiful lavender and blue dress with long sleeves. Again, her attire was not the best for fighting. Again, Kaname suspected that this was another "learn the curriculum, meet your classmates" kind of day.

Crishendia stayed silently at the side as the teacher made her sudden arrival. Honestly, nothing thus far seemed normal about this school, so she didn't feel like questioning any of this. Neither appearance-wise, arrival-wise, or just the teacher in particular. Rather, thus far when she checked her upcoming classes, most of them seemed to be not in classrooms rather they were spread all over the place. With the map she found under the recorder from the Exploration class taking the cake. With all loops, waves, and so on being present like some sort of treasure map made by the teacher himself. Perhaps the guy was a pirate? Would pirate treasures be considering 'archeaology'?
Focusing back on the present, the teacher started to welcome everyone before her eyes fell upon Sir Sleep-During-Class, wait, that's the guy from the rooftop, from my dorm, blinking a few times. Perhaps the guy was just lazy, she wondered if he hung around on the rooftop more often. Perhaps even slept there during classes, she wouldn't know. Honestly, she made a mental note to remember the guy for the future. Still she wanted to judge fairly, but thus far the man had appeared rude, lazy, and a general annoyance. So she hoped those impressions weren't the actual full persona of this student.

Aspen sighed, her expressionless eyes going up and down the small piece of paper and the instructions posted on the same. Were there no normal teachers at this school ? Well, she had signed up for this class, and where this was another class where she was confident in her abilities, she would be late again. She had already been late for Combat and Self-Defense, and now, having reckoned with the fact that the class would actually take place in a classroom, she would be late again, although this time not quite as much as she had been for that other class.
Stepping out of the building and taking the described path she soon stumbled over a trail of crimson drawing a line across the campus, rolling her eyes. So it would be this guy again, huh ? In any case though ... she simply had to follow this trail. Stoically stepping through the field of grass she approached the tarp and the group of people seated on and around it, just in time to hear the teacher reprimand a guy she'd never seen for lying down. Well, sucked for him. Wordless, and with her usual expressionless face, she sat down, acknowledging some students she had already encountered at that other class. The weird girl that carried around her sword, the pendant girl and, as suspected, the bloody bird man were all there, faces she recognized, though did not care too much about. The other ones she had never seen before. Well, unless they would prove to be worth the effort she wouldn't waste the energy trying to remember names and faces. Her hands in the pockets oher jacket that were as usual filled with coins, she simply sat, observed and waited for someone to do something interesting. She was here to learn more about combat, after all, and she would pay attention and learn, for the glory of the Azarov clan, of course.

Rayne abhorred being late. Her life was one of structure and discipline, the type that sleeps and wakes on the same dot every day and makes her bed tight enough to bounce a quarter off of. Admittedly, recently her routines had been disrupted. Between her recovery from grievous injuries, beginning her journey with her new arms, and adjusting to an academy setting drastically different than the education of her former life, Rayne was still floundering a bit. Add to that the last minute change of location for a class, and that sent the young blonde scurrying across the field after the teacher had begun the class. Woefully late. Her polished ankle boots picked up speed across the grass as fast as she could go without running and making a scene.
Upon approach, her azure eyes closed from the force of her apologetic bow. Given the outfit the instructor was wearing, she felt foolish wearing her active wear in preparation for a fencing lesson. Normally the uptight girl wore proper dresses of modified victorian flare, but today she had a simple long-sleeved button up of light cotton and a flowing green skirt better suited for range of motion. As with all her attire, her hands were hidden by gloves, in this case brown ones that already showed the wear of sword practice. "Apologies, ma'am," Rayne spoke quietly, though she quickly righted herself without acknowledgement and took her place on the tarp. It was absolutely her intention to cause the least disruption without being rude or disrespectful, but to also fade back into the background as quickly as possible so class could resume as planned. If punishment came, she would not blame the teacher. Rules were rules.
Now seated, her eyes began to flit around the new faces of those she had yet to meet. Such an array of differences. Pale hair, blood, odd hued skin, pink eyes...the human girl still marveled at them though she wouldn't stare. She had grown up in an environment where other species presence was rare indeed, so adjusting to life at such an inclusive academy was a bit of culture shock without taking into account how most didn't operate by the rigid guidelines she'd been raised with. As she continued to take inventory with sharp mental notes to stay ahead when they were inevitably paired off, she came across two other girls that seemed human. A younger one with a pendant...and one about her age that she didn't have the best angle to see, but seemed familiar. That inkling in her gut alone was alarming, since no one at this school should be familiar to her in any way.

Jinn laid calmly set in the grass while the others arrived. He didn't really care what happened around him and he didn't really care who was around him. The bird guy was somewhat interesting but he would save it for another time perhaps. Jinn just wanted to relax right now. The teacher wasn't here so what is the harm in that.
The teacher arrived not much later though and he twisted his head a bit while listening to what she said. She spoke in a dialect that was from a couple generations ago so it took Jinn a couple of seconds to get used to it. Jinn raised his eyebrow when she called him out introduce himself. Jinn calmly moved a bit up so he was resting on his elbows so he was a bit although still laid on the ground. "I am Jinn Kukki but everyone just calls me Jinn. What is your name sweetheart?" Jinn asked her calmly . Jinn was quite a flirt and flirted with lots of people he found were good looking although you can't blame a incubus for flirting.

This instructor spoke with an accent she was not adjusted to, giving her some trouble understanding exactly what was going on. Her solution to the problem? Was to observe others and go off how they reacted to the speech in order to deduce what had been said to enable her to respond as well. "Can you try not flirting with the teacher? This is a place of learning not some place to pick up a girlfriend." she had not hit puberty yet clearly, since any girl who had likely wouldn't be talking to an attractive incubus that way.
