welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

A darkness had settled across the city, a few lamps attracted moths to them as their light pierced the darkness, a new moon had made the sky its home. Hiding away not a star twinkled across the darkening sky and the clouds overhead although not visible felt heavy and warm as if they contained a thin blanket of snow. It was perhaps his sixth night under these stars, the academy being a rather new home for him the man had barely found a good place to call his den, he needed a place of solitude,a quiet cottage on the edge of town with a small brook running outside so he could hear the slight burbling of water as he dozed off. Apple trees would blossom in the spring, their bounties later turned into rich apple pies and sauces which would fill his stomach many a night. He had a place now yet it was not home, the small apartments walls were confining and restrictive, the windows barely opened far enough to get his head out and there was no air flow. So it was nights like these when he wandered, the imprisoning human form he normally wore during the day was stripped away, he was shape shifted no longer but just a purebody of natural spirit and mythical legends whispered amongst the hopeful nomadic tribes people of his homeland. Soft the light flickered off his antlers, luminescent green vines budding and flowering then fading away into the night as a slight trail of holy fire followed in his wake. Had his presence been smaller the moths would have gathered to him, yet the majestic beast stood taller than a human, their heads barely reaching his chest it had amused him at one point. How small their bodies were for this wasn't even his full height. Yet tonight he was more unsettled, feeling uneasy from the place that was not his home a heavy rock had sunk into his chest, one of emotion and longing, sadness for what he had left behind. A ruckus caught his attention, the plants had started to feel agitated, for someone was disturbing the nights silence. Towards the entrance courtyard in the park, figures casting shadows from the surrounding lamp posts as if stood on a stage they acted as spotlights. Raised voices, an argument was taking place. A silent glider his movements were smooth, an elegant pace towards the situation as eyes familiar with the tones of darkness read the situation. A truck sat nearby, its engine still on the thrum of it broke through what would have been a wonderful peace, there were three humans. Perhaps it would be more polite to shrink a little, height decreasing until the two species would look each other in the eyes. Two of them held nets of sorts, a loop on a stick it was one he had seen before, impounders, capturing wild and non-sentiant creatures which caused trouble. Angry the third seemed to be jabbing at a small cat standing inbetween them all, he could feel it, the furious emotions, while there was some hints of pain, tiredness and distraught in there. "Excuse me for the interruption however you are causing quite the scene, this night is so peaceful and calm with every creature wishing to mind its own business. Even the plants found complaint with your behaviours, now is there something the problem?" Voice quite human, its smooth tone was not excessively deep yet perfectly average, a slight hint of eastern accent hung to his constants as the queries was made. Appearance

He was cornered. It wasn't often he found himself in these types of situations, backed up against the cold steel of a lamppost, feeling the warm blood trickle freely from a couple of wounds these bastards had caused him in the struggle, staining his clean alabaster white fur a putrid crimson. In fact he could not recall having to face catchers like since his old stray days, the days before Angelica took him in as a Familiar. The streets were overrun with animals, at least back in those days, so it was only natural they would hire people to take care of the problem before someone got hurt. But these catchers... Well, there was something different about these. One of Felis' eyes stayed shut due to a head wound's blood trickling down it, while the other one's pupils contacted into a sharp line. His gaze kept on the three catchers that currently stood over him, large and boding. His body pressed up against the black lamppost, muscles tensed and claws unsheathed, his chest heaving from running so fast to try and get away. Yet, they so easily tracked him down. These guys had experience with this sort of thing, it seemed.
"I... Already told you. I'm not an animal, not like the rest of them anyway. I have a conscience, let me go- ACK!" The tom was met with a painful current of electricity shooting right through his body, starting at this shoulder and ending all the way at the tip of his tail. Felis slumped over onto the ground, feeling his magical energy seep out of him. His talent was fading. He didn't know how it was possible but the electricity was sapping his energy every time they shocked him with that damned pole. He could feel it being nullified, his body becoming more and more numb with each passing second. And Angelic's magic... The small amount she put inside of him the day they began their contract... It too was slowly seeping out of him. Too much longer, and he would end up just as a normal cat again. Even now words and memories were escaping him. It was harder and harder to think straight. His instincts were kicking in. He wanted to fight. He wanted to rake his claws into these guy's skin until it was raw and red, but the energy was weakening him. He could barely even keep his eyes open. He just wanted to sleep, to close his eyes and drift off. And yet, a laugh coming from one of the catchers invaded his thoughts instead.
"Oh we know. But do ya know how hard it is to come across magical sentient beasts?" Though his vision was blurred Felis could still make out the man's sinister smile. The man gestured to the other two men to back up a bit. They complied, taking a step back. The middle man, the man who was wielding the electric rod, walked closer to Felis. Felis wanted to reach out, to snap his neck outward and bite onto his leg. But the energy just wasn't there. Instead he laid there, a helpless pile of red and white fur, slumped over on the ground lazily. The man bent over and picked Felis up by the scruff. It made the tom hiss out in pain as he had done it quite roughly. The man picked him up by his scruff alone, very painful for a adult cat given their weight. Felis dangled limply in his grasp, unable to move. "Looks like we don't need the nets after all. This little guy's given up already." The man shook Felis, causing him only more pain. The man grinned. "You'll fetch a good price i'm sure." Suddenly, just after the streets had grown quiet after his words a new voice piped up. Felis wasn't sure who it was, as his head pounding blocked out most sound she could here. But the man, at least, was intrigued. Still holding Felis by the scruff he let out a questioning noise, spotting the strange animal near them. The other two men flinched over, their nets on the ready. They all stared at this new creature for a few moments, like they weren't sure what this thing was before the middle guy spoke up once again. "Oi, piss off, beast. Unless you wanna end up like your friend here." The main guy warned, tightening his grip on the scruff.

It was a cat, small and rather simplistic looking yet it spoke the tongue that they shared with humans. Sentient indeed, a cat with a consciousness this was not permitted, whilst many would have said it wasn't his business to interject himself into the problem from the kirins standpoint there was every reason. This situation had disturbed him, and it was in his nature to only be where there was peace and serenity, neither of which could be used to describe the area. The men poked, the prodded and insulted, joking amongst themselves whilst looking down upon the creature, it was just a cat minding its own business, dangling there helpless like some sort of decoration or bauble on a christmas tree for these men to hold up and swing about as they please. Even if this had not been a sentient cat he would have protested, for humans were not that much higher than any other being in the world, sometimes they forgot that. A good price, he was referring to a black market type of sale, through the backdoors of casinos and underground where the authorities dared not search it was not rare for many a creature to be captured and sold, their mind tamed as their body shackled. Perhaps one day a greater species would evolve and enslave, yet now it was't just humans trafficking and buying. Oh they seemed surprised by his presence? Not that odd indeed for his kind were rarely seen out of Hisakawa yet it displayed their lack of knowledge in the world of non-humanoid beasts. Upon being told to 'piss off' he simply raised a brow slightly, as if considering and pondering the situation over he had the time to not rush. "I decline, and I am no beast. yet I must say- you should really consider putting him down." Helping a strange creature, one he had not met before. He was not known as a kind man yet there was no reason to abandon another who was in such a horrid situation, and he could only hope that in the future perhaps another would do the same for him.
Both hands were full, the human before him clutching a stained red bundle of fluff in one hand and a rod in the other, its end crackling with electricity snarling and biting, waiting for the slightest chance to leap forward and snap at every nerve. "So you want to end up like him? Come on then." Sneering the leader of the trio motioned forwards as the other two started to edge forward, they had no elegance at all really their motions were jalty and harsh, it was amazing that they were the same species as many ballet dancers which flew across the stage. Two of them had the sense to lunch at the same time, the first coming at his antlered head with a net, the fool really couldn't think that he had the strength to take on both antlers? Yet the other was acting in a much more disgraceful way, leaping forward with the cattle prod at the ready, its electric end jabbing towards him whilst the cat in his other hand simply swung in a pendulum like fashion. He could easily dance out the way of their futile attempts, his speed excelled and in a situation such as this four paws thankfully increased ones dexterity. The holy fire across his body strengthened slightly, power channelling through him as he started to focus on his talent, the hive mind whispering with joy and activity as the Kirin called forward two plants he was most fond of. Winding around the trio poppy like plants stung their skin, thorns piercing the think tissue paper like skin as each one got just a mild taste of an opiod. "I would very much like it if you put the cat down now. Don't you just want to curl up, listen to a bedtime story with your favourite blanket." mostly meaningless the words simply acted as a soft and warming sound, their minds relaxed indeed yet soon enough their imaginations would be quite reactive, reactive to the vine which was spreading across the yokai's face, transforming it into one of a horrific beast with eyes like that of satan and teeth dripping with the blood of those they loved most.
A soft bed of honeysuckle awaited the feline, for the man with that taser on a stick shuddered for a moment, standing still before uttering a shriek which would have- quite literally, woken the dead. Hands uncleaned as both the live beast and the tool were pulled down by the force of gravity acting upon them.
