welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

After receiving the information about the class' location, the students would find themselves descending deeper and deeper into the depths of the school into floors that went several levels underground. Down here it was dark, quiet, and damp. The only light sources came from the dim torches that lined the walls. However, they were spread far apart from one another, making the trek through the small stone hallways shrouded in shadows. The students would need to rely on their own senses to move forward towards the faint glow of the next torch. Because in the end, that is all they had to do. Every single student that signed up for this class would've been given a very vague note in their mailbox. All the note had on it was a date, time, and cryptic message that said: "Find the light in the dark... Delay for too long and the shadows will take you.". Aside from that, they were on their own. Unknown to the students, this was their very first test of the semester! All they had to do was find her class... Simple. Or was it? As the note implied, there was more layers to this task than simply following the torches. If any student lost their way in the maze of tunnels... The nightmares that lived in the dark would take them. And if the note wasn't enough to make the students fearful about the terrors that waited in the shadows, the faint shrieks from far away sources that echoed through the tunnels would be. And to top it off... No amount of light magic could pierce the darkness either. These shadowy tunnels were not natural. A dark magic veiled them, and would resist any attempt to bring light into the fold. Even those who had a natural affinity for the dark would find themselves stumbling about, unable to see properly. This darkness was indeed a manifestation of something sinister. Something only Nevira could produce.
Nevira lied in wait at the end of the dark trail. Sitting in a dark chamber at a desk with her hands clasped together, her eyes shut, and her long pointed ears listening intently for the first students to arrive. The room itself was considerably brighter than the tunnels. Scattered all around it were candles, many of them oozing with wax as they silently burned. There were many desks in the room, obviously meant for the students. However they looked very old. Most were wooden, but damp and filled with rot and cobwebs. Veiled across the walls on all sides were red curtains as well, giving the impression that something was being hidden behind the blood coloured drapes.

The weird little note was met by skepticism and annoyance, sending the dude who just wanted to take enough classes to squeak by in the academy and mainly focus on building his strength delving into the very belly of the academic beast. Even being out in the sun as much as possible all day couldn't have prepared him for this. Kiran was a being that thrived in the sun's rays, so the deeper and darker the halls went, the weaker he felt. He wasn't so drained that he'd be ineffective; it'd take more time without the sun for that. But..maybe this class hadn't been a good idea after all. The phoenix was always up for a challenge, but he didn't like feeling off his game.
The screams that echoed off the moist stone walls were eerie, but Kiran chose to assume they were from recordings. This was a challenge. A game. Maybe it was naivety (which was weird, considering all he'd seen in 500 years), but he had never considered this illustrious school to hide any evil shadows, and while he could be wrong, the mindset made this task easier. To make things even more easy, he didn't fear the dark between dim torches, for he was a type of torch himself. Once he got annoyed enough with the lighting, the boy blessed by the phoenix sun god simply rose a hand and lit it up like a mini star, attempting to make the lighting designed to intimidate useless.
Except, that didn't work. Kiran was bamboozled. The darkness seemed to fight back his light with a ferocity that startled him. He could almost feel it pushing his light, absorbing it or crowding it until it was a dull glow as useless as the too-far-spaced torches. Literally fighting some magical darkness in his already weakening form was a waste of resources, so with a grim expression he extinguished his sunlight and resorted to carefully following the tiny fires. Feeling helpless made the previously shrugged off screams sufficiently terrifying, and if he thought he could turn around and get back topside, he would have in a heart beat just to drop this class! Kiran was too far in and knew he'd only get lost turning around. It was like a maze. With much trepidation, the teen just bared down, determined not to be made a fool of in these tunnels. Even if he stumbled and scraped himself on the stones in this sinister darkness, he would make it to the end. He just wouldn't think so much and start running. There was no way he'd be late just because this sadistic instructor thought to test them on the way in! His pride fueled his anger, and so he ran around through the dizzying dark tunnels until finally he saw a light at the end of one of them.
Now that it was much brighter, he found his way to the chamber in no time. It didn't disappoint. The note had set the tone, and it seemed the instructor was more than willing to push that tone to its max setting. Angry peridot eyes took a second to look around, having half a mind to tell this witch off, but also knowing he was at a serious disadvantage if she was...inclined to do something about it. Her classroom was spooky and oozing danger, matching her perfectly. Occult candles, blood drapes, desks on the brink of extinction. "Edgy..." he muttered passive aggressively instead, choosing not to sit in the rickety desk for fear it would crumble under his muscle weight. Standing awkwardly beside the desk instead, he turned his eyes back to the teacher, Ms. Nevira. "Er, Kiran Jiang...present?"

It's hard for Sususmu to be afraid of things that go bump in the night when he is a thing that goes bump in the night. Being half demon is bad enough, but half yokai to boot? That's a nasty combination.
So he navigates the passage with relative ease. The unseen creatures leave him alone for the most part, sensing him as one of them (which annoys him more than it should). And though his vision remains murky, like water clouded with ink, he is naturally able to see in the dark. This coupled with his enhanced sense of smell (surprisingly useful at times like this) and the presence of the torches help him get his bearings. Finally, the negative energy shrouding the area, the hatred and the fear and the bloodthirst, only invigorates him. It beckons him. It sings a nuclear note in his veins, which respond in turn. The stench of blood is strong around him.
Like Kiran, Sususmu isn't in a good mood when he reaches the classroom. He hates moments like these, which remind him that he can't escape who he is, what he's made of. He sits in the desk closest to the door without bothering to introduce himself, folding his wings and dropping his head onto the table.
In the passage, a trail of blood left by Sususmu throbs a dull red in the faint torchlight. It leads straight to the classroom. Perhaps other students will notice.

Jinn walked calmly through the dark hallways with his hands in his pockets. He lets out small yawn ones in a while. Jinn wasn't scared of the dark or anything that lied within it. He was a creature of the dark himself so if there was something that tried to scare him they were messing with the wrong person. Jinn heard the screeches in the distance which just made him chuckle a bit while he continued walking. His eyes turned a bit red when he grew tired of them before he screeched back at them. His screech was far darker though since Jinn used the demon incubus that rested within him. It was loud almost defining if someone walked beside him. It was only a sign that Jinn wasn't to be messed with no matter what.
He finally reached the end of the hallways and saw a bright light at the end. "Well this must be the end then." He said calmly towards himself before he walked through the door. He blinked a couple of times when he got into the brighter lights and looked a bit around him seeing several other students before his red eyes turned back towards his blue-gray ones. "What's up everyone" Jinn asked them calmly before he made his way towards the back of the classroom and sat down at one of the dusky desks. He leaned calmly back and rested his feet on the table.

I am young, don't know 'bout love...
we are wild, can't get enough~
What is with all these weirdly located classes? She couldn't help but think, so far she had noticed that each of her teachers had a certain uniqueness about the way they presented their class. You had Ms. Lo Mika who had practically done a performance to start her lesson, then Mr Theo who had made them follow a map, and now this teacher was having them descend down into what Quinn could only presume was the schools basement. She wasn't sure what to expect from a class titled as Fundamentals of Light and Dark 101. But still, it seemed like an intriguing class to take, so she had signed herself up. She was a little anxious about the fact she hadn't been able to pre-emptively study up on the class like she had for Ms Lo Mika's Magical Creature's lecture. But she would just had to try her best, hoping she would grasp it once they got into the swing of things.
She twiddled the note between her fingers, thinking about it's message; Delay for too long and the shadows will take you. Her mind was sceptical regarding this pretence, if the shadows they were encountering were magical, and capable of capturing a slow student. Surely the school wouldn't permit any harm or danger to befall a student, it seemed unrealistic to her. Unless the phrase have a different meaning, something more symbolic. She was surprised that her feline eyes did not work as well as they did normally. Usually Quinn had no trouble seeing in the dark, in normal darkness, it was clear and crisp to her. But this was different, this only proved her theory that these shadows were of an unusual nature. Fortunately the remaining sense of hers remained strong, she could hear the steps of those walking ahead and behind her, despite being quite fair of. She could also smell those who had taken the path, along with the other musky scents of the dark , drab pathway.
She arrived at the end of the tunnel, the room brightening up, she looked around at the classroom. Recognising a few of her classmates that had already around, deciding to go for familiarity, she moved over to where Kiran was sat and slid into the seat next to him. She wrinkled her nose, the unpleasant smell of dusty rotten wood hitting her nose, this place was clearly not well-kept like the rest of the school. Was this the teachers personal preference? Surely the school could afford a few nice desks. "Talk about gloomy," She muttered to Kiran, before looking over at their teacher. She was an interesting looking being, with blueish skin and pointy ears. Quinn sat back in her seat, usually she would be unpacking her stationary by now, but she really didn't want to get it out on this gross desk. She made a mental note to bring some fabric next time to lay out on the desk.
