♦ STUDENT INFORMATION ♦
Name: Esialeth Rose
Gender: Mostly female
Age: 57, looks in her mid to late twenties
Year in school: Overqualified grad student
Mastery: Scholar
Dorm: Sage
Height: 5’8"
Appearance:
[redacted just look at my sidebar]
Personality:
First impressions
At first glance, Esialeth is reserved (and, for the more easily offended, cold). She is extremely well-spoken, yet around her friends, she is considerably more casual. She likes to scope out her surroundings with her magic (due to her brief jaunt with blindness, she learned how to do that). It makes her feel more connected to the world around her and keeps her grounded (pun because she has...earth powers)....
When her magic is concentrated, powerful, it manifests in high pressure (people might feel their ears pop) and the scent of jasmine and spring frost.
Hobbies
In honor of her sorcerous heritage, she is an avid reader, be it dizzyingly dense informational texts or 15 cent romance novels. She can often be found reading in the ambience of the library, not talking for hours on end. She has published several academic papers as well, all to widespread acclaim. Additionally, she enjoys all manners of art and academia, although listing them would be rather tedious (not to mention redundant). It might be more telling, then, to discuss what she's definitely not interested in: experimentation on sentient subjects, the limiting of free will, bureaucracy...there might be a pattern here...
Traits/Goals:
Found family: Unlike some others, Esialeth recognizes the value of emotional intimacy, not just in a romantic sense, but in a familial and platonic sense.
Passion: Whether it's for art, academia, combat, music, dancing, literature, romance—Esialeth wants passion in her life, wants to find something she loves and loves doing; to her, a life without passion is not one worth living.
Archivist: Esialeth believes in knowledge for its own sake. Most areas of study fascinate her, and her goal is to learn as much as possible.
Practical magic: Although she's a very well-developed sorceress in her own right and finds combat fascinating, her magic does not revolve around it. She uses her magic for things like appearance, chores, investigation, self-reflection, summoning—and yes, occasionally combat—but her magic is not combat-focused. In fact, the reason she's here is to experiment and study others' magic to advance her own; her knowledge of magic, and academia is technically already far beyond the graduate level.
Casual kindness: She is not one to go out of her way for others, perhaps even less so than the average person—but when talking to her, she radiates an aura of understanding. Esialeth understands the depth and diversity of others' experiences. She is especially sympathetic to those with rough childhoods, since she has experienced that as well.
History: (currently deleted bc it was...bad)
♦ SPECIES INFORMATION ♦
Name of Species: Half witch, half human
Traits:
• Archive - The witch has extensive knowledge on thousands of topics, leading to most witches being extremely intelligent regarding nearly all topics. However, this doesn't mean they are all knowing, just that they have a lot of prior knowledge to work with.
• Adapt - Humans can fit in anywhere; it is easy for them to learn languages, different talents, fighting styles, or cultures; this allows them to have an extra talent.
• Elemental - Humans have a natural affinity for magic based on the basic elements, nature, electricity, fire, earth, water, air and metal. This gives them strength when using the elements and resistance against them. From these elements humans naturally have 3 resilience aspect points.
Flaws:
• Discord - The two souls within the vessel can cause physical problems for the vessel as they can halt growth, whether it be physical or mental. The two souls are never truly at peace and when the souls are in complete discord, it risks tearing the vessel from the face of the land because of the two countering forces within them.
