♦ STUDENT INFORMATION ♦
Name: Alistair Cyber
Gender: Male
Age: 48
Year in school: College
Dorm: Vermillion
Height: 6’1” (Human); 10 Inches (Grim/Cat)
Appearance:
Personality:
Often seeming largely apathetic at a glance, Alistair tends to give the initial impression of a detached, grim person at a first glance. He by no means bothers to project a sunny image for the sake of others, as he doesn't really believe the majority of the population deserves to be treated gently or with too much care. At the end of the day, everyone's out for themselves, and it'd be a waste of energy to play nice with people who probably do not care about you anyway. That being said, he doesn't actually ignore everyone around him, and will engage if he sees something he considers to be of interest in some way of form. True to his original nature as a mischievous cat demon, he does have a penchant for poking into people and messing with them simply for his own amusement, and to alleviate some of his boredom. He doesn't seem to have much of an issue with treating people as a game to play from time to time, although he does usually try to keep himself under the radar. It'd be a pain in the ass to be forced to move elsewhere again, and as much as he lacks in compassion for people, he doesn't think himself dumb. Not dumb enough to try to get killed again, that's for sure, albeit he isn't even sure whether he can die again. He'd bet some people would try to though.
Generally not the nice person in the room, he can be tough company to handle for some, and easily considered mean by the more faint of heart, but to him, that's just how life rolls. If you don't like something, you should just do something about it. It's as easy as that, and if people let him annoy them, it's pretty much an invitation to keep going. He could stop and think about taking pity on them but it's not like anyone ever really did for him, and besides, he couldn't see himself as a goody-two-shoes anyway. It's boring, and he'd swear it might be possible to get diabetes from the amount of sugary sweetness some people seem to display.
History:
Once upon a time, many years in the past, Alistair used to be just your everyday stray kitten out on the streets in a poor neighborhood in Arka. He had no name to his 'person', nor was he treated well by most of the people there. They had their own lives to secure, and nobody had the time nor resources to care for a random cat. Nevertheless, the lone feline had managed to scrape for himself enough to survive, prowling the streets as he vaguely registered just how uncaring and even unpleasant people could be to those that were not already one of their own. That was perhaps the beginning of a consciousness, and the main driving force behind his eventual transformation into a demon cat. What was originally just a ball of fur everyone passed over became a slight menace that would cause issues, playing cruel pranks on people. A form of revenge for being forgotten perhaps, although the specific motives remain mostly unknown.
What is known however, is the amount of dissatisfaction the circumstances have created as time went, the matter having reached the ears of the local church as the residents pleaded for someone to exorcise the demon, or simply do away with it in one way or another. No one was really brave enough to take on the clearly demonic cat though, unsure of what exactly it could do, and not wanting to get themselves cursed for all eternity on accident. As such, a tense stalemate went on for a rather long while, until the church higher ups came up with a brilliant idea. If they could lure the devil cat in, and use it as a sacrifice, they'd be able to force it to serve them! It was a bit of a rough plan, there was no denying that, but they were definitely determined to get it done, for it sounded like a potentially amazing turnabout solution to their problem.
Whether it was pure luck, or a deity's blessing shining upon them, they did indeed manage to succeed in their goal after a few failed attempts, the poor Bakeneko ending up a few feet under the ground without a way to escape in time. Happy times? One would perhaps assume so, but the celebrations would be quite short-lived in the end. The now turned Cat Grim was clearly not pleased by the position they were trying to force on him, and would very quickly start actively rebelling against his captors. With some of his previous abilities still remaining despite the rebirth, the black-furred feline would go out of his way to bring the dead at his graveyard to life, haunting anyone within the vicinity of the graveyard he was bound to. Instead of things settling peacefully, the people ended up with a nightmare potentially worse than the original, and out of fear of the now mutant creature, they eventually resorted to completely shutting down and wiping out the graveyard in question to get rid of the beast once and for all.
With the place he was meant to 'guard' no longer existing, Alistair became free to roam around, and although he did consider bringing further disaster upon the people, he had also come to be tired of all the bitterness, choosing to instead abandon the area, and run off all the way to Mistere to seek a maybe different kind of life. Despite his experiences with other living beings, he would become bored all by himself very quickly, and so the Grim-turned demon cat had taken on a journey to somewhat fit into a normal society, even enrolling at the widely known academy to see whether it was worth it for him to work with others or not.
♦ SPECIES INFORMATION ♦
Name of Species: Church Grim/Bakeneko Hybrid
Baseline Dimension:
CG:
Minimum two feet tall at shoulder, maximum eight feet tall. Average is generally 4-6 feet tall at the shoulder. Length varies.
B:
From average domestic cat height, to human size. Nekomata and Kasha specifically can be many meters high and/or long.
Baseline Appearance:
CG:
Church Grim are animals, typically dogs, and have black fur, almost any eye color, abnormally long and flowing tails, and white fangs. Their fur is shadow-like in nature and flows unnaturally with a black aura.
B:
Bakeneko generally appear as basic cats, some of which can stand and walk on their hindlegs. In human form, oftentimes their feline ears, tail, claws, and fangs are visible.
Culture/Origin of Species:
CG:
As per tradition in some Skiagis cultures, the people of the church were to bury a dumb animal, usually a dog, alive for it to become the designated soul to protect and guard the graveyard. The rule was simple; the first being buried after the opening of the cemetery was fated to protect it for eternity. Their soul would remain alive and bound to the yard as they upheld the duty of protecting the cemetery from demons, gravediggers, trespassers with ill intent, and the like. The task was said to be from an ancient agreement with a god and was a sacred duty for an animal to uphold.
B:
Bakeneko begin their lives as ordinary, unintelligent domestic cats. Upon growing older and hitting what is deemed a long period of time to have lived, the felines become self-aware and gain the ability to speak common languages. As they grow, they often become larger in size, sometimes reaching human height when standing, and learn many types of uncanny innate abilities. Bakeneko are innately malevolent and mischievous. If a Bakeneko lives long enough and grows in their malevolent nature, they become a Nekomata-- a larger and darker version of a Bakeneko, and possess a forked or two tails. Nekomata tend to prey on other beings, specifically humans. Kasha are the epitome of cat malevolence. They constantly crave flesh
Traits:
CG:
• Buried alive - - Having faced a mortal death once before, Church Grim do not age or die by natural causes, but simply fade away or eventually pass on. They have +2 to their Resilience Aspect.
• Faire Chlaidh, the graveyard watch - - Church Grim can walk invisible- unseen, unheard, untouched, and unscented at will.
B:
• Shapeshifting | Bakeneko can shapeshift into a variety of forms, including that of humans, monsters, and other cats.
• Re-Animation | Bakeneko possess the uncanny ability to bring corpses back to life and use them as puppets.
• Ghost Fire | Cats have the ability to summon and use a ghostly fire for protection, misdeeds, or fighting.
Flaws:
CG:
• Omen of death - - Being representative and guard to cemeteries, Church Grim are rare to be seen in public and often are only known to be associated with death. As a result, they are often ostracized and cast out of communities, known as ones who bring an early demise to those they are around.
B:
• Bakeneko shapeshifting is far from perfect. They cannot hold shapes for too long and often will display their physical feline attributes if a single transformation gets exhausted.
