welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

Akeldama was sitting in the Courtyard. Only recently having been introduced to the school, she still didn’t quite feel comfortable in it yet. She hadn’t yet been to any classes yet, seeing as she wasn’t quite sure which ones to take or which grade she’d technically count as.
That’s what she was trying to do right now. Fill in the paper work. She was currently stuck at the age part. She looked twenty four… But that was only how she looked due to her curse. What should she put down?
If one were to look at Akeldama they’d see that she was in somewhat nice cloths, but that they were worn and raggedy. And also that there was a certain vile odor to her. She hadn’t had a proper bath in awhile, and it showed in her barely combed hair.

Wandering through the courtyard, Virudh's eyes soon rested on a girl that didn't look very... What's the word... she pondered, if she had to guess, the girl appeared like some kind of homeless person. The kitsune wasn't entirely sure how to place such a person in her mind. The school hadn't appeared to be a place that had such people wandering about, but it was possible, right? Or is this a student that just... doesn't have much other clothes? Or maybe it's a species thing? she really didn't want to judge, but noticed herself that she was now standing still and staring towards the girl.
Blinking a few times, the kitsune started to walk towards her in hopes to maybe have a conversation. Unless the girl just didn't want to be disturbed, she looked to be older, so she would assume that she is older than her in age. Coming to a slow halt near her, Virudh held up a hand to wave a little, "hello, are you from the academy?" she asked curiously, hoping she wasn't being a problem. As she got closer, her nose did pick up a scent and she halted that moment to keep some distance as she looked a bit more curious on the smell. Slowly looking around if it was something there or if it really did come from where the girl was seated or perhaps the girl herself.

Walking in the courtyard without her sword, Kaname was trying to figure out what to do about classes. She felt like she did not have enough, but few of the other offerings really interested her. Kaname's attention was diverted from that issue by the presence of another person... and a strong odor. The source of the odor appeared to be a girl with gray skin and dark hair wearing a red dress. She might have been a new student. She certainly looked new. Kaname decided to be nice to her because the hybrid knew what it felt like to be ostracized for petty reasons.
"Hi there. How's it going?" Kaname asked the dark-haired girl.

“I will be soon.” Akeldama said, straightening up the papers in her hand awkwardly. It’d been awhile since she’d had regular conversations with people. She had isolated herself from society for… Maybe a year now? Two? It was hard to tell. She had a time piece, but it was broken.
And a time piece only told you the time of the day, not anything else. She could wind up the clock to set up the right time. But no matter what it always ran too fast. She looked up to the second person, then back to her paperwork. “Difficult… I’m having a bit of a hard time answering some of the questions.”

Virudh nodded, so the girl was new here. Basing things on her appearance and... smell, she wondered if there was a special circumstance that got her to this school. If she was going to be staying in the dorms, the kitsune figured the girl would actually get a shower once everything was sorted. Assuming that she was still in the progress of getting a dorm. "Will you be staying in one of the dormitories?" she asked, though noting that a second person had arrived. Possibly a friend? She hoped she wasn't being a bother already.
"Hello," she said while waving a hand in a greeting to Kaname. Looking back at the girl, she was having a difficult time with answering questions, "do you mind if I ask what those are for?" she asked curiously. Having a new person around, perhaps at some point she could have a tour around the academy.

"Hey there. Nice to meet you." Kaname greeted the kitsune from her dorm. New faces were popping up on campus daily. It was also possible they had simply not met. Campus was a big place, after all. There was also the possibility of wildly different schedules preventing them from meeting until now.
Kaname's attention turned back to the girl in the red dress. She claimed to be having difficulty with some of the questions on the paper. Maybe she could help.
"What kind of trouble are you having?" Kaname asked the girl holding the papers.

Akeldama wasn’t sure what Virudh’s question meant, so she’d answer what she guessed it meant. “They’re the admission papers.” She hesitated to answer the second question, bringing a bit of hair to her mouth to begin to chew on it nervously. This was a school of magic. So maybe it’d be alright to share her little quirk of nature. But she was nervous.
Maybe she could be vague about it. She took her hair out of her mouth, but continued fiddling with it with her fingers. Akeldama spoke softly, hesitant to make eye contact with either of them. “I’m not sure what to put for my age. I don’t exactly age normally, and while putting down how long ago my birth date was would technically be the most correct answer. But that doesn’t feel right… I don’t look or feel ten years old.”
She more looked to be in her mid twenties than anything else. But if you got a peek at her birth certificate you’d see that… Yes. According to what it said, she was ten years old. At least that was what she was supposed to be.

Listening in on the two, Virudh didn't exactly get a response on her wondering if she was staying in the dormitories. Perhaps she would be in the Acolyte Hostel or even just at home. Did she have one? All-in-all, the kitsune didn't really know whether she would be staying like... anywhere? Still, she didn't want to keep asking things and went on to listen to the two as they were going over what appeared to be admission papers.
Hearing she had trouble with the age area, Virudh thought on it. Honestly, she would consider it to be best to maybe add in both ages? Real age and 'human' age, if she could call it that. One to define how long it was since she was born and one where she put down more her mental age, what age she felt (and looked) like. Though, looking like a certain age meant fairly little, especially considering how many others looked like in the academy. This included even the teachers. One could very well feel old and look like a little kid. Otherwise there were a lot of shapeshifters too, so it wasn't like appearances said much at all.
Virudh wondered if the admission papers allowed for two ages to be included, perhaps even add behind it with brackets what both numbers meant. One for the real age and one for the mental age, so it would be understandable, otherwise just adding a slash between the two ages, if there was little space, would likely work. Considering the staff of the academy should be used to this sort of thing, right? Looking at Kaname, she wondered if she had perhaps a better idea as the kitsune wasn't the one asking, she felt she'd be in the wrong to start butting in.

"I don't know how the registration process works, but my dormmate may be onto something. I'd put the physical and mental ages too. You know, Just to cover your bases." Kaname said to the girl holding the papers. Kaname was no administrator. She did not even know what exactly her registration papers said because her father handled the paperwork. That was yet another flaw she had to overcome.

Akeldama then realized that she had accidentally ignored one of the student’s questions directed at her. She was mildly flustered at that, but opted, since she wasn’t asking again, to pretend she just hadn’t heard it. Answering that question would be complicated anyways. Akeldama herself wasn’t even sure where she’d be staying, or if she could afford to live here in the first place. Was there rent? Surely there had to be.
The woman chewed on her pencil a bit, trying to determine her mental age. She supposed she’d go with what her physical age had been before the time jump. “Lets see… I guess that’d be ten, fifteen and… Twenty five?” She was completely guessing on her current age. Akeldama didn’t exactly have a calender to go off for her unnatural aging.
She’d been born ten years ago, had aged rapidly to fifteen, and a year ago had aged herself up to a full grown, six foot tall, five inch giant of a woman. Not that she currently looked her full height, being as hunched over as she was. “God the admissions people are going to have a headache looking at this.” The black haired girl muttered under her breath.

Explaining the age possibility, Virudh pondered what kind of ages the girl would fill in actually. Honestly, it was hard to pinpoint a lot of people's ages, whether one had an appearance to their age or not. Some races simply looked too different and how old some species could get made it also a bit more difficult. Still, she didn't want to start going on about those. Listening to the girl as she guessed what she should fill in, "I think the true and mental ages would be enough," she tried to add in when she was coming up with ages. It seemed a bit odd what ages she brought forward. Honestly, perhaps she found it hard to figure out the actual ages, she didn't know what species she was after all.
"The true age to reveal how many years you've been alive, from your date of birth onward," she held out one hand as to indicate what she was meaning, "and the mental age to show where your state of knowledge and understanding lies." Those two seemed like the most obvious, Virudh was assuming she was bringing in possibly her 'physical' age as in the age of her appearance? "The staff of the academy will understand how someone would appear differently from those ages. Some of them are themselves very different-looking and may even vary in their own true and mental age as well as the age of their appearance, especially considering we even have a cat giving classes in the school," the last she added due to the fact she doubted cats really got that old. Or was that differently for magical animals?
Honestly, Virudh had no idea how to position such faculty at all, "I'm sure the faculty that handles the admissions will be understanding, perhaps you could even ask them when you hand the admission form over if you had these things correctly," she continued with a smile, "I'm sure someone there might be able to point you in the right direction if I was completely wrong." Her ears were quite sensitive, so picked up some of the words muttered, as difficult to follow as it was. Honestly, she hoped she didn't bother the girl by this.

Kaname had spaced out a bit. Her dormmate was hitting all the relevant notes and relevant concerns, so the hybrid was keeping quiet. Her presence was almost superfluous at this point. Still, Kaname felt moved to comment. "My dormmate's right. If in doubt, I'd talk to the admissions personnel before anyone else. It's their job to help students get through the bureaucratic maze and get enrolled. They'd know exactly what to do to help you through the issue." Kaname seconded what Virudh had said. Again, Kaname's presence was not really needed. She was just here to second what Virudh was suggesting because it was sound advice.

A cat? The daemon within Akeldama’s body perked up at that. A feline merely one of her many lives as a daemon, but still this intrigued her. She’d like to meet this cat. A subtle shift came over Akeldama as Capone took over. The most notable difference would only be perceived by those who saw or were able to sense spirit energy.
Were it to be described in colors it Akeldama’s would be a flowing, radiating gold with the texture of sand. It extended three feet beyond Akeldama’s body in each direction, slightly longer than the reach of her arm.
Capone’s own aura was a dark red, akin to the color of blood. And looked as if it might flow, if it were not compressed to at least take up the same amount of space that Akeldama’s aura took up. It was incredibly dense.
But for those not looking for it or unable to see the spirit energy, the primary difference was that Akeldama’s gaze shifted from uncertain and wavering, to sharp and focused. Capone marked down the three ages of Akeldama, busying herself with filling out the rest of the application without Akeldama’s annoying dilly dallying getting in her way.
“Which class does this cat teach?” The daemon asked, not looking up from the paper as she asked this.

While she made suggestions, Virudh did feel like she was hogging the attention in this conversation. She hoped she wasn't being a bother to Kaname right now. As she did talk onward, it appeared she sparked an interest in the girl, one that she hadn't really been anticipating as Akeldama started to ask what class the cat taught. Thinking about it, she had read the classes and seen what was given, if she recalled correctly the professor was named 'Felis'. Right? Felix? Something along those lines, it was something on potions? From what she heard the cat was a witch's familiar, so a potions class seemed likely to fit the role? Cauldron class?
Virudh hadn't really signed up for that particular class, it didn't really have her interest. "I think... Potions? Alchemy?" looking towards Kaname, perhaps she had a better idea what class this was, "I've not signed up for it, so I don't know the details. I only saw it and spoke with others." There were a lot of curious sounding classes in this school. Perhaps to be expected, even if the standard ones like math, language, history and such do exist, there were also exploration, aetherology, alchemy, and several fighting classes. Honestly, it was a wild mixture of classes that were held in the school that it was hard deciding what to take and what to leave out. "There are a lot of classes in the school, so I'm bound to forget a few, just the part that the teacher was a cat kind of stuck out and stayed in my head," she explained in a sadder tone.

"Mr. Felis teaches Alchemy and Potions, if I recall." Kaname chimed in. She had encountered Mr. Felis three times before, twice in the academy courtyard and once in Mistere itself. He was a decent guy... or cat... cat-guy? Anyway, he seemed to be likable enough. "He's a white cat with blue eyes, so he's pretty easy to find. He's usually somewhere on campus. I don't know his schedule, so I can't give you any specifics." Kaname said to the new girl.
