welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

IF "I LOVE YOU" WAS A PROMISE
WOULD YOU BREAK IT IF YOU'RE HONEST
"This is the last of them." The rather thin dressed in a dark cloak man grunted as he plopped down the last box in front of the store, right on top of one of the many piles of boxes scattered around the front of it. To anyone passing by, it might have looked like someone was getting ready to move, with various boxes of all different sizes strewn about the place. But actually, it was the complete opposite. Someone was not moving out, but rather, moving in. Kim had bought this somewhat small store soon after coming to this dimension. The previous dimension she had jumped to during her adventure, while pretty diverse and chock full of dumb people willing to spend their coin on her magic uses, was a little too diverse for her services. In a world where anything and everything was possible, her magic and witchy stuff was rather dull compared to being able to walk outside and see a dragon. So, she left. Too boring, she supposed. A little strange perhaps, seeing as how the world was so big and magical one would think you would never get tired of it. But as someone who came from such a world and was used to those sights it wasn't really enough to catch her attention. Normalcy was stranger to her than magic. Plus there were some real assholes with god complexes who back stabbed her there. She'd rather leave them to rot and have more fun elsewhere than deal with them in charge. And this place? Was a pretty good start. Skiagis, it was called. She learned that after asking about and getting a few strange looks. It was a place where magic existed, yet was not the entire life of it. It still held mystery while also not normalizing it. Pretty good for her business. very good, actually. You never wanted a world that was too full of magic and yet not one that was completely unaware of it. Trust her. She ended up on a normal dimension once and it ended up with an angry mob with pitchforks almost burning her at the stake. Fun times. Fun times.
That all was besides the point, however. This was going to be her big breakthrough. All she needed, were some supplies. Thankfully, forging some papers and documents using her skills had landed her with a rather big sponsor who was willing to help her completely set up shop free of charge. Granted he only wrote her through papers with letters cut out from magazines and left money for her in dark alleyways under blood moons, demanding dark sacrifices of virgins in return for his deeds but other than that he seemed like a pretty neat guy. A little weird, but neat... Since he was giving her an entire shop for free. And not just a shop, but her entire first supply drop too! Kim scanned over the boxes, counting in her head the amount he had promised to make sure it all was here. After the sixty sixth box, a smile edged onto her witch's lips. "Alright, looks like everything. And i get more once i start selling, right?" Kim looked over the to shadowy man who was wiping the sweat from his bow, who nodded at her question. Or at least she thought he nodded, it was hard to tell with a hood draped over his face.
"This is merely half of what the Dark Lord Mortem will eventually gift to you. You do well, you receive more. Such is the way of our glorious leader." There they go with that 'glorious leader' crap again. This dude must really be full of himself if he forced them to call him that.
"Yeah yeah, leader schmeeder. Look, i wanna go eat my lunch, where do i sign?" The feline asked, her split tail swishing behind her, annoyed it has taken this long to get all the boxes set up. She had to get up early for this delivery and he spent the first half reciting something about the darkness eventually taking over this land and how she was helping their almighty lord yada yada. Honestly Kim had zoned out about half way through so she didn't even know or understand. Nor did she care. All she cared about was setting up and getting money. A black smoke shrouded the hooded man, a clipboard with a paper attached to it and a black pen appearing in his grasp a few seconds later. He gave it to Kim, who took it from his hands and looked over the paper. There were a lot of words, so she didn't bother to read it and just signed her signature at the bottom with the pen. Not really having a signature in the first place, it ended up looking like someone who tried to write in cursive but who also didn't read anything above picture books. A mess, in other words. With a final stroke it was finished and Kim handed it back over to the man. But, the man did not take it back.
"A signature is only half of the contract. A blood pact must also be made onto the scroll in order to make it official." The witch rose one pink eyebrow, letting out an annoyed grumble, her arms crossing over her chest.
"Blood? Come on, man. I just got my clothes back from the dry cleaners yesterday after i gave your 'glorious leader' more sacrifices. Do you know how hard it is to get virgin blood off of white cotton? It stains. Does it have to be blood?" A silence soon followed for a bit before the hooded man spoke once more.
"... I suppose not. Any sort of spiritual essence will do as long as it comes from you." Right after he finished his statement a sound grunting and snorting came from the witch before she spat out a wet loogie onto the paper next to her name. Upon contact the paper vanished in a purple flame, along with the pen and clipboard. The hooded man bowed. "Praise Lord Mortem." He spoke.
"Uh, yeah. Praise Mormons or whatever." Completely butchering the name and not caring too much she merely watched the cloaked guy vanish out of sight with a single teleport. Strange fellow, he was. Were all of Mortems lackeys going to be this way? Probably didn't get paid enough, minimum wage here sucked.
Left to herself and the many boxes surrounding her Kim's yellow gaze looked them all over once more, walking over to one of the closest ones and picking it up. She leaned it to the side, judging its weight. It felt a little heavy, but yet not heavy enough to be straining to her. Actually, feeling it within her grasp, the box felt kind of... Warm? Leaning her head down Kimial jostled it up and down rapidly to hear what was inside. Hopefully nothing fragile. She'd hate to have to have another one of those guys near her for the rest of the day.

The box had seemed so inviting and welcoming to the tired tanuki. All she did these days was eat and sleep, and any form of shelter was a good sign to the bakedanuki. The box was dry and comfortable, so without much of a second thought, the silver-furred raccoon dog had taken a flying leap into it, and within the hour, had fallen into a deep sleep. Little did she know the box would be sealed and quickly transported that day. It really was not like she minded or noticed; she was asleep and did not take note of the rocking sensation as the box was magically shipped off.
Izayuki slept through it all, far too physically and emotionally tired to bother waking. Faint and muffled voices could be heard from afar in her dreams and sleep, but nothing too jarring to wake her. Everything was fine. Everything was peaceful. Then some fucker picked up the box and started effing shaking it. If nothing else woke up the small raccoon dog, that certainly did. If she had been anywhere else, the automatic reaction would be to scream “whoever is holding the box, your mom’s a hoe”. Unfortunately, the waking brought Izayuki back to the cruel realization that she was not in her old home, but the cold unfamiliar territory she had been wandering. As such, the first thing she felt was fear.
At the shaking, the bakedanuki could not help but let an aggressive growl rise from the back of her throat. Realizing she was trapped, the frightened canine began to scratch fiercely against the walls of the box. A trapped tanuki youkai was unable to shapeshift, that much was unfortunately true. She would have to hope whatever evil being that was shaking the box would let her out, or that her dulled canine claws could work their way through the walls of the box.

IF "I LOVE YOU" WAS A PROMISE
WOULD YOU BREAK IT IF YOU'RE HONEST
Was it normal for boxes to growl? Because Kim was pretty sure cardboard wasn't a living thing. Then again she barely knew what was supposed to be natural anymore that she didn't even question things like that anymore. However, she had never received something that growled before, at least not in the mail. Upon hearing the deep grumbled Kim ceased her shaking, holding the box back in front of her, looking it over with a raised eyebrow. Did they send her a living thing? Seemed kinda cruel, they didn't even pack air holes. How was it still alive after being trapped in there for so long? Well, if it was a magical creature she guessed maybe it didn't need oxygen. What was she supposed to do with a live animal? She couldn't even look after herself let alone another living being that she was supposed to take care of and sell. Whatever. That Mortem guy better give her double for having to deal with what he couldn't look after himself.
Suddenly, the box began to vibrate and move about as the creature inside slammed itself against the sides. Kim, startled by the sudden harsh movements, accidentally let it slip out of her hands and onto the pavement below. Due to the impact the weakened tape sealing the cardboard shut split open, revealing what was inside. A very familiar silver raccoon dog. Or, its actual name, a tanuki. Kim's tired, wide amber eyes gazed upon her cousin and squinted, confusion spreading over her face. Well, of all things she thought that could be inside the box it certainly wasn't... Her. What in the world was she doing in her shipment? She should be back in that other dimension, not here. As far as she knew the youkai had no such ability to do this. Very curious indeed. Yet, the witch's curiosity would not get in the way of letting her sneak in a snarky comment or two. "Well, i don't remember ordering a live asshole." Kimial's surprise turned into a tooth grin, a little happy to see someone she knew, yet disappointment on who it turned out to be. Her and Iza never did have the best relationship. Their egos usually got in the way, even though half of the reason the youkai was alive was all because Kim decided to help her out. So she deserved at least a little thanks, right? But no. She just got yelled at. Family. Ungrateful assholes, all of them. Kim's smile turned into a thin line, noticing the tanuki was laying on quite a few of her tapestries, decor she needed to make the shop feel at home. "Long time no see, cousin. You can tell me how and why you're here in a minute, just at least get off the merchandise before you wrinkle it. I've got a living to make." If the tanuki didn't resist she would find herself being lifted up and out of the box by a strange force before falling face first onto the ground. No doubt she would need her help again or something, that's how they always met. Not that her cousin would thank her or anything, and not that Kim would help her this time without a price. Minako was the only reason she got off free so many times. But with the goddess practically abandoning her she didn't exactly follow orders anymore.

The violent shaking stopped, only to be met by an abrupt fall and rather painful impact with the ground. Izayuki let out a yelp as the box landed hard on the pavement, but at least was relieved to see that the tape at the top had slit open and revealed light and an unfortunately familiar scent and face. The snarky tone to reach her ears confirmed that it was indeed the real Kim, and not some alternate asshole of this dimension. In reality, the youkai was happy to see a familiar face that actually could recognize and remember her. Unfortunately, that person had to be her bitch of a cousin, the bunuki witch.
She was eager to leave the box and tapestries she sat atop when Kim requested. Izayuki hated the confined space and did not want to risk being trapped in it once again. Of course, there likely would be many a silver hair on the fabrics she napped on, which was at least pleasing enough to leave behind. She narrowly avoided the odd force that was doing its best to evacuate her from the box. The bakedanuki really was too dazed and confused to fire some witty remark back at the witch. Instead, she cut directly to the point, standing on all fours next to the box, her fluffy silver head looking up at the pink-haired woman. “What are you doing here…?” she asked, more surprised than anything else. Perhaps her cousin would know a way back home, if she managed to butter her up enough. The thought was revolting, brown nosing her prick of a family member, but Izayuki would do just about anything for the chance to find her real family again, and not just this person who happened to be related by blood.

IF "I LOVE YOU" WAS A PROMISE
WOULD YOU BREAK IT IF YOU'RE HONEST
Strands of silver fur meant nothing when lint rollers exist. ... Actually, did this dimension have lint rollers? That would be something she would have to look into once everything was solved and put away. If not it was pretty inconvenient, but the tapestries would survive nonetheless. Mutt hair didn't stand a chance against a good washing. The witch was just thankful the youkai wasn't as vengeful as the last time they met, where Izayuki had used her dark blood to kill a flower she was looking for. Bringing back a dead plant was one thing, washing blood out of fine thread was another. Weirdly enough, instead of vengeful or even spiteful her cousin seemed to be confused about her presence. She couldn't exactly blame her, youkai were not skilled enough to dimension hop, at least not on their own or without using some extremely powerful spells. Which is why the youkai's presence in his dimension was even more curious than her own. This wasn't even the Izayuki of this dimension, unlike some of the character she had noticed around looking a lot like others she had seen. This was the Izayuki from the wizard world, the one she helped and saved, she could sense the very specific energy within her. This was her without a doubt. Kim crossed her arms over her chest, looking down at the oddly colored tanuki with a lazy yet stern expression. "Hm, i thought you knew a lot about my kind because of out last meeting, but i guess it was just dumb luck. Witches are masters of dimension hopping. How do you think i got to your home dimension originally? Dimensions are basically layers, all taking up the same space yet separate. I know it's a little hard to understand with a pea brain, so think of them as a big onion. Onions have layers, but all layers are still apart of and make up the onion. Think of me as a... Onion traveler... Actually that sounds kinda lame but whatever. What i'm saying is i hop from dimension to dimension because i feel like it. Right now-" pausing, she would gesture to all the surrounding boxes. "-I'm setting up shop, gonna earn me some money so i can live and crap. Like the responsible adult i am." A bit of sarcasm on her part, as even she didn't think of herself as an adult really, let alone a responsible one.
Placing a hand onto her hip she'd look back down to the tanuki, curiously once again taking over her expression. "But what i'm more curious about is how you're here. Youkai aren't supposed to be able to dimension hop, at least by normal standards. So how'd you do it? Sell your soul to the devil or something?" She wasn't asking for Izayuki's sake, and more of her own knowledge. If youkai suddenly learned how to hop around that could be really annoying.

Izayuki’s first instinct was to growl over the insult, but Kim managed to redeem it by making a rather lame and amusing statement afterwards. So, witches could hop dimensions? If that was the case, maybe Izayuki did have a chance to return home if she could convince Kim enough. That would be annoying, brown nosing the other tanuki until she got what she wanted, but the youkai was desperate. Besides, in the past she had always managed to find Kim at a time when she needed her. As unfortunate as it was, Kim had managed to save her from physically dying, undo her unwanted possession of Astrid, and later help her manage her own dark nature. Three instances, all unasked for but without thanks. If only Kim were a little nicer, then maybe it would be easier.
The question then came as to why the bakedanuki was there. Avoiding eye contact and gazing at the ground, the ayakashi spoke in a hushed voice. “Onmyoji,” she answered simply. “A powerful onmyoji was hired by that godforsaken council of corruption. He sealed me away, I estimate for about three years by that world’s timeline.”
She hated that. She stopped herself from mentioning that it had taken all her magic and power to free herself from the seal. Either Kim was going to figure that out by herself, or at least hopefully assume Izayuki still retained the power she had before. She hated feeling so weak after she had grown used to her old strength. Even worse, the onmyoji that had sealed the bakedanuki away was none other than someone she had trusted. A friend, really. He did it out of a feeling of righteous justification. Perhaps Izayuki was not the nicest or most conventional saint in the books, and had stooped to using questionable tactics at times, but did it really warrant her removal from that dimension and into a sealed prison?
“Say, you wouldn’t have a way for me to get back, would you? I leave this dimension and get out of your hair for good. I can figure out a way to pay you whatever you want,” the bakedanuki said, gazing back up at Kim. She decided to venture out and not sugarcoat her request. Back home, she had plenty of money between her own fortune and what she had received from her deceased spouse. That, or she could conjure up some other way to reward the witch for helping her get home.

IF "I LOVE YOU" WAS A PROMISE
WOULD YOU BREAK IT IF YOU'RE HONEST
As surprising as it may seem, Kimial had a heart. Not one she wore on her sleeve, but a heart nonetheless. The weakened silver tanuki below her was betrayed, powerless, desperate. As someone she wasn't exactly friendly with many other people may find pleasure in this circumstance, maybe even humor it. But Kim, was saddened. It did not show too much on her features, as she kept her hard look about her, but seeing her cousin in such a depressive and homesick state actually sparked a but of apathy in the witch. She too knew what it was like, to be forced away from your family. Twice, even. It was easier and easier each time Kim did it, but for Izayuki, those people in that dimension were the only people she had. Not like she herself was a pleasant or constant family member. The none blood related people were her family, and she was desperate to get back to them. She was quite literally ejected out of the world by an Onmyoji. Kim didn't know a lot about them, but if they managed to seal away a high ranking youkai and take away their power they meant business. Undoing something like that would be hard, but not impossible.
Kim stared daggers into the tanuki for a moment, thinking on what she said. If this was anything else? Kim would have either told her to bug off or gave her a near impossible cost to fill. But luckily for the youkai, she had managed to hit a few heart strings of familiarity, so she would go easy on her. She would curse herself for being so nice later, of course, but in the middle of finally finding her feelings again after so long she wasn't about to stop herself. If she did, she would become like their family. Kim let out a sigh, rubbing the back of her neck. "Yeah, i can get you back. But i'm out of freebies for the rest of my lifetime, so it's going to cost you." She flipped her pink stands of hair back. She gestured to the boxes surrounding her once again. "I'm kinda hungry and i wanna get something to eat, but i still have all these boxes to unpack. So if you help out in unpacking i'll consider us even, at least for this. We have a deal?"

The bakedanuki instantly perked up as Kim said she would be able to help. So there was a chance to go back home? To see her family, provided they were still alive? Silver ears perked up slightly as she listened to Kim’s request. Unpacking would be no trouble at all. In the upkeep of her old inn, she had plenty of boxes to unpack regularly, be it for the tavern or library. “Deal,” she said, rising up to her paws and walking towards a box. She did not yet have the confidence to change her shape to an easier form for the task, such as a humanoid one, but her strength was almost about the same in any shape. Despite being unkempt and still rather hungry, she was at least well rested.
Approaching a box, the raccoon dog balanced on two legs and placed her forelegs atop a box. A sharp pale claw ran through the tape sealing it shut, and with an adept muzzle, she nosed the box open and reached her head in to try and grab some of the wares. “Where do you want me to put this stuff? Need it organized?” she asked, partly muffled by the cardboard. She did not know how to organize witch stuff at all, and would probably mess it up, but at least she could try and learn if it meant going home, right?

IF "I LOVE YOU" WAS A PROMISE
WOULD YOU BREAK IT IF YOU'RE HONEST
Well that certainly put a spring in her step. The witch didn't even have time to give the youkai the details before she was off of her paws and wandering up to the boxes to unpack. But of course, there was the question of what to actually do the boxes. One might think with Kim's careless personality she wouldn't care, but it couldn't be more of the opposite. At least, when it came to her possessions. She might be a mess herself but she was always cautious to take care of her environment. She hadn't always been like that, but after the tribe and being the main person people relied on to not die she was rather careful. That, and it was rather nice to at least be surrounded be cleanliness. It was a calm in the middle of the storm. Even after a long day of traveling and bloodshed she could come home and feel comfortable. "Alphabetical order. The shelves are already set up inside, i just need to organize the ingredients and make them appealing to the customers."
As a sudden pop settled into her brain, Kim's expression became more of a curious, her twin tails forming into a question mark. "You... Er..." she pushed her glasses up. "You do know the alphabet, don't you?" A valid question, not even one that was meant to be an attack. She genuinely didn't know if her cousin knew her alphabet. Youkai weren't as educated as witches, seeing as how they were wild beings. The boxes may be labeled with what was inside, but that would be useless if Iza couldn't read.
