Appearance:
- Long brown hair, usually up in a style and accessorized.
- Green eyes, usually hidden by sunglasses during the daytime.
- Dresses to the nines all of the damn time.
- Almost always has a smile and will look at you as if you're an old friend, even if you just met her.
Personality: For someone who spent the majority of their life living in dim lighting, Leyla has always shone bright. A textbook optimist and insufferably cheery on all fronts, Leyla is a happy-go-lucky individual that doesn't seem to have a negative bone in her body. It is rare to see her without a smile and even rarer for her to not try and befriend everyone she sees. However, as much as she wants to please everyone and be their friend Leyla has no self-awareness that her personality can be grating to others. She also has absolutely no concept of the following: the word 'no' when it is being said to her; personal space; that not everyone is going to like her; and sarcasm.
In spite of being giddy to the point of ignoring or otherwise not picking up on important social cues from others when she is annoying them or otherwise not wanted, Leyla is not as dense as she appears. She may prefer to see the world in rose-tinted glasses (always in trend, in her opinion) but it doesn't mean she has no idea what's going on. She can be surprisingly shrewd and manipulative, especially if she believes that the ends justify the means, and stubbornly doesn't care about the opinions of others if it impedes on what she believes is right. Her optimism also gives people the false notion that Leyla is very confident, and while she can be, she has her moments of insecurities as well especially when it comes to her height and impending future as the next leader of her family.
Likes: fashion and weaving her own clothes, sweets, reading, visiting new places and learning new things, meeting people, parties, giving makeovers, cute guys (at least a foot shorter than her), and the beach.
Dislikes: being yelled at, the cold, hitting her head on all the things, bad fashion sense in others, having to wear sunglasses all the time now (she loves them, but she wants to see all the pretty colors even if it hurts her eyes!)
History:
- Hails from Mistere in one of the few Cave Cities that have yet to be shut down by progression.
- Comes from a prominent Aranian family known to make the most exquisite clothes.
- One out of eight children, and a potential heiress to her family's legacy.
- As a child she fell in love with the world beyond the caves through books and sought out adventure and friendship and knowledge.
- Attending Eldritch Academy to develop her talents and to see more of the world, as well as learning how to become a strong leader for her family.
- ... Even though part of her would prefer to be free and left to her own devices so that she can experience more of the world.
Name of Species: Arania
Baseline Dimension: Arania females are notably larger than their males. The average height of a female Arania is 6ft while the males average at 4ft. While they are the average weight of a human, whenever they become their spider forms they do gain some mass which bring them to the average of 80 kilos for females and 65 kilos for males.
Baseline Appearance: Arania come with a variety of features, though commonly are pieces of chitin over their body. While they can look relatively human, some Arania may have multiple eyes and may have a split jaw. Women are born with a natural sharp look, a femme fatale vibe to their face shape. Men tend to lean towards cute in terms of appearance.
Culture/Origin of Species: A common tale of the origin of these spider folk is that the first of their kind challenge a Goddess in a battle of weaving. Upon losing(though some sources said she won), the girl was turned into a spider for her arrogance(in the sources that say she won she was described to have turned into a spider from the sore loser goddess). However this is merely a fairy tale told among the Arania to remind children to respect the people around them, but they keep it as "history" in order to entertain the arachnophobic and their somewhat sadistic tendencies.
Traits:
- All Arania have a spider transformation. The extent of this transformation is varied but common transformations include just having spider arms sprouting from the back to allow climbing of walls and ceilings, a half spider form that allows them to produce web from a spinneret. Full spider transformations are only traits of head Arania or ex-head Arania.
- Arania species web is a very strong material that all Arania are capable of weaving and using for a variety of uses. This swiss army knife of a material can even be used to create homes and even act as sticky cages. Some Arania have even found a way to make the web solid like a wall and even fireproof.
Flaws:
- • Arania have sensitive eyes, being cave dwellers in origin. So often you see Arania outside of caves wearing something like sunglasses or shades (which honestly match their look).
