• CHARACTER INFORMATION •
Name: Astrid (The Keeper)
Gender: Female
Age: 517 (physically looks around 20)
Occupation: Time Patroller ("Librarian" on this planet)
Height: 5'4"
Appearance:
Personality: Astrid is a strange one. Even for Galifrey's standards the girl is anything but a normal alien. Well, for an alien. Super smart, charming, kind. All of those things describe the girl to all of those who know her. She has been known to go out of her way to help people, though that goes as no surprise given her people's protective and pacifistic way of life. She also adores adventure, as her job requires her to go pretty far away from home, so she has gotten quite used to chance. The new sights and scenes beyond her planet's walls intrigue Astrid in a way that only true adventurers can understand. Yes, Astrid seems to be pretty much the average time lord. Knowledgeable, faithful, ambitious. Even a few childish tendencies thrown in, having been a prodigy and somewhat groomed during her younger years. These can come out from things such as getting easily frustrated or thinking she is above other races.
But even with all of those traits the girl is not without her flaws. In particular, one major flaw. Anyone who has come across her for extended lengths of time could tell you she is not what she actually seems. At times, it is small. A smirk, a side eye. It could be anything really, something out of the ordinary for her character. But it's there, always. A little craze in her expression, in her eyes. It is something dark, something foreboding. A menace.
Yet, no one knows what. At least, not yet.
History: Astrid was born like all other Time Lords on the distant planet of Gallifrey from a combination of matter and biodata within the birthing center of their world. Joining her many metaphorical siblings she was cared for by the caretakers in the nursery up until maturity. However during that time she had made quite a name for herself. It was found that she was incredibly smart and a very fast learner even for someone within their race and showed much promise. So once old enough to be counted as a teenager within their society Astrid made the bold decision of joining the Academy, of course with some pushing from the caretakers due to her excellence. However, upon entering the academy Astrid began to change. While she continued to gather good grades and absolutely toppled everyone else studying there, her behavior became a little unstable. Most people noted it began to change after her exposure to the Time Vortex, a procedure all who enter the school must go through to gain time's knowledge and understanding. Some say the vortex changed certain people, driving them mad. Though hardly insane Astrid began to grow more rebellious against her peers, starting fights and faltering concentration. With it, her grades soon began to drop and she was promptly kicked out due to skipping classes. In other cases that would have been it for a Time Lord, they would have been downgraded to a civilian and nothing more. However, the army stepped in and asked her to join them instead, not wanting her brains to go to waste. With no other option and wanting to conquer these strange side effects of the Time Vortex Astrid agreed. Times were hard at first, being so used to the academic life. The training was hard but she eventually got used to it, and with the hard work the side effects gradually became less and less of a problem. Soon enough Astrid was now toppling the ranks of the army, the first in her race to ever be ranked so high in both branches. After enough years of dedication and work she eventually graduated the training courses and became a full fledged Time Patroller, in charge of keeping the Time Vortex safe from all those who wish to use its power for themselves.
At one time, during a war on Gallifrey against the Slavine, Astrid even managed to rescue one of the council members from being slaughtered. Some say the two bonded a little too closely after the event, though none have ever proven such a thing. Because of this Astrid was awarded with the position of Officer not long after the event, making her the youngest of her kind to ever earn the position.
These days Astrid is making as many missions as possible, helping the Time Vortex stay safe in any way she can. But peace only lasts so long...
• SPECIES INFORMATION •
Name of Species: Time Lord
Baseline Dimension: Despite being Aliens Time Lords have the base build as humans, though tend to be more sleek.
Baseline Appearance: Appearance varies from Time Lord to Time Lord. Endless possibilities. However one thing sets them apart from humans. Time Lords have two hearts, and a slightly larger brain. They are also capable of changing eye color.
Culture/Origin of Species: Time Lords are a type of alien species hailing from their home planet of Gallifrey. They were the first to gain the knowledge of time and how it works, building off of it to create an empire and the technology to tame it. From this empire they look after the Time Vortex, undoing damage that other species attempt to inflict upon it for their own gain. While inherently being pacifists they are not afraid to start wars in order to keep time balanced. Young Time Lords, once they meet a certain age of incubation in the nurseries, enter either the Academy or the Army. The ones that enter the army are known as Time Patrollers, tasked with accepting missions from the council and ensuring the safety of the Time Vortex. While Academy students eventually graduate and travel to progress the planet's knowledge of the universe. Any Time Lords who enter neither become regular citizens of the planet.
Traits:
• Having two hearts, Time Lords gain a +1 to Vitality, while also if one heart is injured in any way the second heart can sustain their body by itself until it is healed.
• Because their brain is more advanced than a human's Time Lords have entered the point in gaining minor telekinesis and telepathy powers.
• Time Lords have mastered regeneration. When a Time Lord is injured their body begins a regeneration process that heals their ailment in a matter of minutes. However if they gain a fatal injury their regeneration is dialed up and their entire body regenerates, giving them a new body with new appearances. This way they can live practically forever.
• All Time Lords, being exposed to the Time Vortex's energy all their lives, gain a vague sense of events that has happened and will happen within the universe. They cannot, however, gain specific information from this.
• Time Lord's bodies are rather tough, storing all their knowledge and power into one being. They gain a +1 to Resilience and can withstand harsh conditions (freezing cold, vacuum of space, high pressure, extreme heat) for about 6 minutes, only suffering minor consequences such as blindness.
• A Time Lord's real weapon is their vast knowledge and wisdom. They gain a +1 to Speed, as their mind processes things very quickly.
• With their minds so far advanced, so are their senses. A Time Lord's senses are 10x more powerful than a human's.
Flaws:
• Telekinesis and Telepathy powers are limited to a fifty feet radius, and they cannot lift more with their mind than they can physically.
• If an injury is serious enough a Time Lord will enter a comatose state while their body heals, a state that can last from 48 hours to an entire week depending.
• Unlike what many may think, Time Lords are unable to interfere with events embedded within history by law. If this is broken serious punishment is ensured.
