welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

IF "I LOVE YOU" WAS A PROMISE
WOULD YOU BREAK IT IF YOU'RE HONEST
Business was slow today. Much like yesterday, and the day before that, and the couple of days before that. There were few who came here, even fewer who actually left with something other than hurt feelings. Kim wasn't exactly the best salesman. Of course, how could she be? She was a woman, not a man. Well, woman did have man in it... But that was besides the point. It was pretty hard being nice to people when all you wanted from them was their money. Thank god that young human girl came by and wanted to rent out her basement. Of course, it meant she would have less room, but would keep the roof over both of their heads for the time being with the help of Mortem's sponsorship. It wasn't enough, however. Getting only a few coins a day if even that was terrible. Kim had to cut back on her food intake enormously in order to appease him and keep this place afloat. It was pretty bad, seeing as how Kim was even more bitter and angry without a full belly. Hard to imagine she could get worse? Well it was even more horrifying when face to face with a hungry witch.
The day's weather matched her mood, pouring rain and inky dark. The raindrops pattered against the large window, watching the trails run down the glass with lazy amber eyes as she stood at the front desk, being able to only hold her head up by resting it upon the back of her hand. The witch's stomach let out a groan of pain, causing the girl to let out a groan of her own. "Shut up. If you're so hungry why don't you go out and find food yourself?" Of course, it was impossible. Mostly because her stomach wasn't sentient and that's not how stomachs worked. But if it was, it probably would have tried to eat her already. She was so desperate to quell her hunger that she was tempted to go out in her tanuki form and hunt mice or something. No telling what the animals had here, which is why she hadn't already done it. Plus feeling as weak as she was, it was more effort than it probably was. But by this point she wasn't caring as much. She had done it in the tribe, she could do it here. The fairy light above her head flickered, to which she slammed her fist into the wall, causing them to keep on. Maybe she would eat the fairies if they kept this up.

The rain drove the young black mamba to find shelter. The rain was cold, and Tsuki hardly enjoyed it, being a cold blooded creature. She sought out shelter and warmth, and upon doing so stumbled upon the little witchy shop. Another driving factor was hunger. The serpent was not only looking for some dry, warm, place, but also for the warm food that could be found in such places during the bad weather. What she smelled on her forked tongue were fairies. Through a crack in the upper attic areas of the house, the snake slithered in. From there, she moved through the walls and ceiling until she found the poles where the jars of fairies were mounted.
What an odd place for fairies to be. Typically, they were flying free. Being a fast species of snake, the mamba was used to catching flying creatures as they came close to a perch or branch she was using. Caged, however, would prove to be more difficult. Tsuki was an intelligent and mostly sentient snake. She could reason that she would have to free the fairies, and that would take a bit of effort. It was not impossible, however. Ever so silently slithering closer, Tsuki moved towards the piece of metal that held the fairy containers. Coiling a tail around it, she attempted to work to loosen it with her elongated, scaled body. Her aim? For the container to crash to the floor and free the fairies. Surely one would come close enough after the fact for her to snag, should she be successful.

IF "I LOVE YOU" WAS A PROMISE
WOULD YOU BREAK IT IF YOU'RE HONEST
The rain continued to fall and the witch's hunger grew. Now that she thought about it, the rain would drive away a lot of pray, as well as potential customers who would bring in more business and money. It just got better, didn't it? Why was she even wasting her time standing at the desk acting like someone would come in? Even if they did she doubted it would be for purchases and only to get away from this nasty weather. Kim tapped her elongated nails on the desk, letting out a sharp sigh. She could be looking through her family's book and learning more spells, but no, she would rather waste her own time waiting for something that would never come. Why? She didn't know. She just felt like if she moved and someone did end up coming in when she wasn't there she would kick herself up the ass. She would at least wait for her normal lunch break to look scrounging around. Perhaps that English girl left something in her basement she could nibble on. She wouldn't mind. Even if she did it was Kim's basement, she had all the right to go in there.
The sound of a high pitched scream interrupting the rhythm of the rain caused the feline's ear to twitch. It was a shock to her system, as the fairies had become broken by now, accepting their inevitable demise inside the various glass casings the witch captured them in. They no longer cried, nor whimpered. They simply sat there, using their magic to light her shop or be faced with the inside of the woman's sharp maw. Something had disturbed them even more greatly than her threats. Turning around suddenly Kim looked up to the source of the screaming above her, seeing a long snake curled around the metal bar holding up the fairy bottles. The fairies closest to it where crying in their jars, trying to scramble out despite it being no use. The resonating sound had made all the rest of the fairies scream, a chorus of chaos interrupting from the once quiet shop. Kim's sleepless eyes narrowed, burning a bright amber while she scowled at the serpentine. The flood must have drove it indoors, finding a hole somewhere in the building. Dammit. This day was certainly trying its best to annoy her, wasn't it? Grabbing her broom from beside the counter she thrusted the stick end at the snake, yelling profanities at it. "HEY! GET OUT! OUT! THOSE ARE MY SNACKS YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM!" She was trying to scare it down so it wouldn't undo all of her hard work just to feed its greedy gut. If it wasn't careful, the witch was tempted to eat it instead.

The stick came, wooden, fast, and terrifying. The snake had had previous encounters with her old rival, the broom, before. Women were so hasty and really did not like long and scaly reptiles. The half-sentient snake heard the shouting, but it was too late. Her tail had already dislodged the fairy jar, sending it tumbling to the ground. A loud crash of breaking glass could be heard as it made contact with the hard surface. Thanks to the broom end, the snake too had fallen and landed with a painful thud on the floor. Gravity sucked.
Dazed, the snake hissed at the cat-eared woman. Should she be antagonized anymore, it would not faze her to use her precious venom against the perpetrator. But for now, curing the tube stomach rumblies came first. With mamba speed, the serpent’s head dashed towards a weakened fairy, who had broken a wing in the crash. Were she lucky, she would not even have to use any venom to quickly gobble it down and be on her merry way. It was small enough that devouring it whole surely would not take any time that could get her killed. And she was reserving the venom for cat woman. Hopefully was no impulsive decision; she was simply too hungry to try leaving the dry and warm place without food.

IF "I LOVE YOU" WAS A PROMISE
WOULD YOU BREAK IT IF YOU'RE HONEST
The breaking of the glass, though a bit of an annoyance, was not her main priority right now. This snake was in over its head. It had no idea whose lunch/light bulb it was trying to take! The witch didn't even care about the threat of a venous bite, given how instead of trapping the creature with something magical or going after the fairy she chose to bring her foot down onto the reptile despite having nothing currently on her feet. Kim was never one for shoes, after all. She much rather feel the ground beneath her than have a slab in between her skin and the ground. It might seem insane to other people, since she was completely exposing herself to get bitten. But, for some strange reason, the girl seemed reckless enough to simply either forget or not care.
The fairy, despite the broken wing, was able to lift itself off the ground with its single wing alone and a bit of naturally produced fairy dust. Though shocked and scared it happily fled across the shop in a golden glow before slamming through the window, shattering it in the process. Kim watched it go with narrowed eyes, clicking her tongue. She was going to have to fix that now, as well as capture another fairy. This snake was more trouble than she thought it would be. Kim looked down to the snake beneath her foot with annoyed amber optics, pushing her weight down upon it harder. "See what you did? Now neither of us get to eat it." The feline lightened and then pushed the weight in her foot constantly as to cause the snake some pain by crushing it, yet not killing it. Its what it deserved, just thinking of itself like that. These were her fairies, she caught them all on her own. Now it was being greedy. "Loqueris ad pecora" the words from her lips were quiet and low, but audible enough to be heard. A pink light covered the crushed snake, sparkling before subsiding. She lightened her weight, but kept just enough to ensure the snake would not get free. "What do you have to say for yourself, fairy thief?"
The witch had cast a spell, a simple one she has known ever since she was young. It was a spell that allowed the user to speak with any animal. The animal would understand her, and she would understand the animal. Unless it had no language to speak of, it would work so the snake could beg for her forgiveness.

The black mamba did not expect the foot to come down so swiftly. The instant it made contact with the snake, causing her to lose her lunch, her head swiveled back around at lightning speed in an attempt to bite the ankle of the perpetrator, with sharp fangs hopefully injecting a supposedly lethal dose of venom.
However, as she did so, a pink light began to glow around her, only to mysteriously disappear. Despite being a reptile with no sense of sound beyond keen vibration detection and no use or need for words, the idea and concept of words in a language suddenly came to her mind, along with a rather magical ability to ‘hear’ the words of the pink-haired woman. “FUCK YOU, YOU PUSSY-TAILED CUNT,” the serpent swore in an angry, mighty hiss. “I bet your privileged ass gets a nice meal whenever you want, without you having to even hunt.”
Her voice was low and nearly androgynous, one having to have an extremely acute sense of hearing to differentiate her from male or female. It was hard enough to know a snake’s gender as it was, and her newfound voice confirmed that fact. On top of being hit with the end of a broom, falling, and being stepped on, she had now also lost her lunch. Back to square one, only worse.

IF "I LOVE YOU" WAS A PROMISE
WOULD YOU BREAK IT IF YOU'RE HONEST
She couldn't have said didn't expect the bite to happen, because she did. It was a snake, and at that a snake in distress. It was going to bite. Still, no matter how prepared she was it hadn't prepared her for the actual pain of it. As soon as the sharpened fangs entered her flesh the feline let out a pain-filled hiss, shrinking back in place, golden eyes watering. She could feel the venom shooting into her body, and to say it was painful would be an understatement. It was like fire, shooting up from the wound and through her whole leg. It wasn't even the bite itself that was the painful part, as the teeth were so thin she could have mistaken them as two medical needles being injected. A small pinch and that's all. But the venom itself, the poison that was now going to be inside her body. It wasn't even physical pain, not yet at least. It was the knowledge that something had entered her bloodstream and she could very well die from it. Well, of course she wouldn't die. She was a witch surrounded by all the ingredients she could ever desire. But the instinctual fear was there, the cold sweat of impending death. "ARG! YOU BITCH!" Kim angrily growled, feeling the warm blood from the puncture wounds seep out and trickle down her leg. The insults the reptile threw at her were merely the icing on the cake at this point.
Though the muscles her leg were beginning to pulsate she still managed to keep her footing on the snake, having only weakened her stance by the attack. Actually using her new found adrenaline Kim bent down and picked the snake up by the base of its head, so it could not use that little trick on her again. Squeezing it tightly she brought the creature to to eye level with her, her tanned skin having turned a bit white over the whole ordeal. Burning amber optics glared like fire through her glasses at the reptile, her grip so hard she was beginning to shake with how much strength she was using to keep a hold of the snake yet transfer back some of the pain it had given her at the same time. Despite being bitten, otherwise, the girl seemed a strange sort of angry-clam. The sort of state were the person seemed calm, yet the deepness of their expression and posture made it seem otherwise. Like she was hiding her anger and trying to seem calm. "That's it. I'm not going to give you another chance. You already fucked yourself pretty hard by biting me. But it was wasted effort, because i'm not the one going to die today." Kim tightened her grip a little more. "If you beg for my forgiveness i wont eat you, i'll simply skin you into a new handbag. If not, i have something more worse than death in store. Test me." A smile came with the last statement, a sinister smile that only someone who fully intended to match their words would have.

The venom from her bite seemed to be working, the neurotoxins spreading throughout the body of the horrible woman. However, the promise of safety was short lived when the strange witch did not let her go. Instead of removing her foot from the snake so she could swiftly slither away, a hand gripped around her throat and lived the reptile off of the ground, hissing and flailing the bottom half of her serpentine body.
The black mamba could smell the anger fuming from the cat-eared person. Well, if nothing else, she had managed to piss off the enemy. Unfortunately, that might have been her last act. The snake had nothing else up her arsenal besides another bite, this time half assed, which was impossible giving the hold on her noodle neck. In ten minutes, surely the neurotoxins would work their way through the person’s system. The question was, would she survive that long?
From the newly understood words of the witch, the serpent was to die either way. The sinister grin was offputting, the reptile forcing herself to not consider what might be in store beyond being eaten or skinned. Well, she might as well try and stall for time, her instincts told her. Keeping silent, the snake only hissed softly in agitation and stared blankly at the blazing golden eyes. Its forked tongue poked out a couple times, catching the smelly chemicals of the rotten woman. Yes, the black mamba was going to play dumb and act as if the random magic that allowed it to understand words had worn off. Snakes naturally could not hear, having no eardrums or ears at all, nor a section of the brain to process sound. They could feel vibrations keenly, but could not make meaning of them and only found them useful in hunting or sensing danger. It was indeed humiliating, but the barely-sentient snake did not truly have a concept of pride, only an instinct to survive.

IF "I LOVE YOU" WAS A PROMISE
WOULD YOU BREAK IT IF YOU'RE HONEST
The silent treatment, was it? Kim knew the spell hadn't worn off, as she was using her own power to fuel it. If it was suddenly broken for whatever reason she would feel it, but she did not. The snake was just being difficult. But what had she expected? Nothing else, really. While the reptile now knew speech it did not know basic concepts other than survival. It couldn't really comprehend the situation it was in. Even if it did, it would have no idea what it was about to go through.
A smile carved onto the witch's lips despite her current circumstances. She could feel the venom's effects traveling up from her leg and to her midriff, but chose to ignore the uncomfortable numbing pain for now. She had something else to take care of first. Well, in actuality she had something to take care of her. "Well okay, i'll take the silence as a no. This'll be your own fault~" Taking in a breath and closing her eyes Kim's muscles untensed, her grip on the snake loosening ever so softly. Her breathing became soft and calm in concentrated bursts. The room itself became calm too, no longer holding in the chaos of the two. It was silent, it was unmoving. It was peaceful, calm and serenity.
"Ego tu habeas, adversarii es tu ego" a pink light burst from her finger tips, crackling to life. "Ut non vives" the pink light transferred over to the snake. All of a sudden the reptile's vision would go dark, its mind blank. Then, its brain would explode with information. Visions flew past it, words echoing into its mind. Types of flowers, languages, wildlife, spells, incantations, simple math, chemicals, names. Knowledge of all sorts flooded into the reptile's once tiny mind. It would surely overwhelm the poor creature, but at the same time, amaze it. All of this information it once didn't know seemed like second nature, like all this time it had just been at the tip of its forked tongue. It was aware. It was sentient. It had its own feelings, its own emotions. It knew Kim. It knew it's desire was to server her, to heed her command. For if it did not, it would have no meaning in life. "Nam ut diu vivas super vos."
The information faded, and with it, the snake's vision would return to normal. The pink light subsided. As soon as it did Kim dropped the snake, falling to the floor on her knees. She felt weak, drained by the spell she had just used. She had never used this spell before. She never felt the need to. But now she knew why. It took ever ounce of her energy to force this snake to be her familiar. Kim gripped the floor with her hands, trying not to fall all the way. She used what little strength she had left to keep herself up, despite the venom taking its toll on her even more now in her weakened state. She looked to the snake, her new familiar. A smirk crossed her lips, her breaths heavy and ragged. "Heh. Not so tough now... Are ya?" A laugh rumbled from her chest, ending in a sickly cough. Feeling light headed she pushed herself backwards to sit down, leaning against the back of her desk for support. She did her best to kept her eyes on the snake, though her vision was blurring and getting worst by the second. The venom was traveling through her body at an alarming rate. A few more minutes and she would be stone dead. Using what strength she had left the witch wearily lifted her arm up, pointing a clawed finger towards the snake. "You... serve me... Now..." Allowing the finger to flicker into a pink light the reptile wound find itself gaining a human body. She wanted the reptile's first task to be a creation. A potion creation, that was. A venom cure. And of course, it couldn't do such a thing without arms. It would use the minuscule amount of mana she had left, but it was better to use it all up than to sit here and die. "Create a cure for this... Poison in my bloodstream-" Despite being weak, she gave a sinister smile. "- And show me the body which i so graciously gifted you."

The snake grew increasingly more concerned as the seconds passed and the vicinity grew more still, calm. The pink light started again, but what witchcraft would it bring this time? The last bought of it had introduced words to the half-sentient snake. This time, it brought darkened vision and senses. The black mamba could see nothing but darkness, and in its mind, a bustle of new and painful information. On literal mental overload, the serpent flailed its wiggly squiggly body in discomfort, somehow understanding the visions, words, incantations, concepts, knowledge, and a small dose of wisdom that was greater than any raw instinct could offer.
She could not explain the sudden abundance of information-- she simply knew. She was aware of herself, of her place in space, dangling while held by a figure that seemed so familiar, even if the reptile knew she was a perfect stranger. Far exceeding the buzzing of the new knowledge was an overwhelming desire-- one to cater to the wants and needs of the person holding her. At once, the snake was dropped and the witch fell to her knees. A slight hint of instinct told her that now was the time to slither away, but all the serpent could do was coil into a neat spiral with its intelligent head raised, eyeing the cat-lady with curious and bewildered now-red eyes.
The witch, Kim as she realized her name, first threw a mocking jab at her before explaining things simply to the snake-- something the black mamba felt she had known all along. To serve the witch. A spark of completed pride from before told her to be done with it and leave, but an overwhelming urge kept the snake still, staring at the witch.
Only a few more heartbeats passed since the witch declared the snake now served her. In those moments, the pink light glowed again, only this time, the serpent felt no uneasiness or apprehension. Instincts told her to take it as a threat, but her knowledge told her otherwise. Slowly in the pink glow of magic, the snake began to take on a human form. When the pink light dispersed from the humanoid shape, what stood in front of the witch was an androgynous young woman wearing a purple hoodie over a red shirt, green cargo pants, and casual converse shoes. She had long dark hair, dyed with a tint of green, and dull olive eyes. The sudden change in complete body type shocked the former snake, who stared down at her fingers and stumbled slightly upon realizing she now had legs. She would have thought balance impossible, but something within her mind managed to smooth it out for her, allowing her to gain her footing rather quickly.
The sinister smile ordered the familiar to create an antivenom. The former serpent felt no need to help this person who had caused her harm, but something also told her that it would be better off if she saved this witch. As if she could not live satisfied and happy without her. She was about to protest the command regardless, not knowing how to create an antivenom, before the means of creating the potion dropped in her mind. Clenching her teeth, all the human-shaped familiar could do was turn away and grab the nearest vial-- the organization of the shelves and supplies also being mysteriously known to her, as if she had spent her entire life in the witchy shop. Snagging a vial and collecting a few other ingredients, the familiar went right to work, tossing the potion components together. She would have assumed she needed a sample of her own venom to produce antivenom, but the final part of the potion making came to mind as no physical ingredient, but an incantation.
The girl muttered the incantation in a low tone, her eyes glowing red for a few moments as she utilized some of the magic that she had been infused with by the witch. A few seconds passed, and the potion was finished. Silently, she brought the vial back, a confused and still bewildered expression on her face as she stared down at the witch uneasily. Her hand reached out the vial, her instincts questioning every single one of her actions. “Is this supposed to be a fate worse than death? I’m disappointed,” she only said, sarcasm and irritation dripping from her voice in an attempt to mask her confusion and discomfort.
