Name of Talent: Enchantment Artificery
Concept: From the start, Hazel hadn't been like the rest of her family. Diminutive with dark hair and grey eyes, as opposed to strawberry and blond-headed giants; mousey and polite as opposed to loud and boisterous; the list of differences went on, and all members--nuclear and extended--made sure to rub it in whenever they could. The same, of course, applied to the realm of magical ability. While the siblings showed great prowess in the elemental arts, Hazel seemed to have no talent or interest in them whatsoever--to the annoyance of her adoptive parents. No, Hazel couldn't cast an elemental spell to save her life--not even on the business end of the cane.
Her talents, clearly, laid elsewhere. In what precious free time she could muster, she tinkered and toyed with whatever items she could get her hands on. Watches, thingamajigs, doo-dahs--it didn't matter, as long as she could take it apart and see how it worked. After a while, she got to the point where she figured out how to put small enchantments on things: a lockpicking enchantment on a ring here, a pretty light illusion on a spinny-majig there...small stuff. Throughout her later years in high school, she got good enough to repair or re-purpose other peoples' magical gear--and did so for a price, of course. Since, however, her talents have stagnated.
tl;dr: Hazel's Talent is largely based on enchanting and artificery.
Extra(s): N/A
Positive Mechanics:
- She can enchant most objects (bar large machinery, automobiles, etc). Larger objects or more complicated enchantments take considerably more time and concentration. Smaller objects or simpler enchantments take only a moment.
- Hazel is able to construct makeshift artifacts, though it takes time and they may not always work as intended.
- She is able to remove and, to a lesser degree, detect enchantments on objects. Same rule-of-thumb for enchanting an object.
Negative Mechanics:
-Hazel cannot cast freehanded spells. She is completely reliant on enchanted objects or artifacts.
