welcome to Eldritch Academy
In a world of myths and mysteries, the pinnacle of the magical academies exists. Eldritch Academy offers education to all ages and species but specializes in the study and training of one's innate mystical capabilities, often called Eldritch Energies, Powers, or Unknowns, but more formally known as their Talent. However, tensions run high with the nations only holding a fragile peace as the Talents that rival the epitomes of technology change the balance of power.
With the more recent uprising of evil Shades and introduction of combat-oriented programs into Talent-focused schools, nations grow more aggressive towards one another. The demand for resources grows, and skirmishes at the border of Arka and Mistere become more frequent. Monsters run into the nations from the Wildes, terrorizing villages and cities. The need for trained or in-training Hunters and Guardians has never been more urgent.

It was nearly 2 AM when Akeldama was out and about. She had recently applied for the nearby school, but wasn’t yet signed up for any classes. Her cloths were ratty and her scent was primarily that of filth. And it was clear to see why considering where she was now, literally digging through the garbage in an alleyway to get her next meal. At six foot five inches she was more than tall enough to reach into the bin without having to stand on her tip toes. But she was finding it a little difficult to find anything really good. Ah... A half eaten chicken wing. "Lucky find." Akeldama muttered to herself.
Within the corners of her mind a growl of discontent echoed.

(apparently i accidentally edited the post with my new post so err just a small recap instead of the original post.. rip)
azalea had been tending to her garden, late at night and quite a few hours passed by. she washed up in her sink and left until she passed by a girl at a trash can. she then asked, "are you alright?" after debating with herself if she should or not. |

Akeldama ducked behind the bin, startled at someone finding her here. She would have thought anyone would be asleep at this time of night. She registered that they had asked her if she was alright, but she wasn’t sure how to deal with such a sentiment. What was the pale girl supposed to respond to that with? Akeldama dropped the chicken wing back into the trash bin. “I’m so sorry. I’ll leave right now.”
The woman was concerned, that perhaps wasn’t the right answer. But it wasn’t like Akeldama was technically not alright. She was just hungry. But at the same time she wasn’t used to charity… She had gotten it at times… But all too often those who helped her ended up hurt because of it. She didn’t want that to happen. So it’d be better if she could just leave. She started shuffling backwards and away from the trash bin.

letting out a soft sigh, azalea watched as the girl seemed to grow uncertain. just.. walk away... azalea gritted her teeth without showing her conflicting thoughts and emotions. it was at this moment that she thought of how orion would react if she told him what happened here. closing her eyes, she relaxed her body and made a bold step forward. it took more steps than most people, due to her short size, however eventually she got to the side of the seemingly hungry girl. she rolled her shoulders and allowed her wings to appear. another second would pass and azalea would be eye-level with the fellow being, her body being suspended in the air as she hovered. her hand reached out, gripping the girl's shoulder. "no need, the trash cans don't belong to me, so it doesn't matter to me if you are around them or not."
taking another moment, azalea scanned the body of the tall pale skinned person. "my name is azalea, just for future reference." a small frown replaced the smile that azalea had been flashing. "when was the last time you had a proper meal?" a small moment of hesitation made azalea add on another question, "and a proper wash?" |

The primary reason Akeldama had not just turned her back and fled quickly was because she was hesitant to turn her back on anyone when she was in a vulnerable state. Which in her current underfed state was pretty much always. Even though she had aged herself past adolescence, her metabolism was still higher than she was able to keep up with on scraps alone.
Her eyes lit up in surprise upon seeing that the person was a fairy. Interesting. And useful knowledge. If the stories were true about their longevity, it wouldn’t matter if her curse affected this woman or not. Given that knowledge, perhaps accepting the offer for a meal wouldn’t be too terrible. Akeldama didn’t want to put the woman in a situation that might endanger her life.
But if she was a fairy, again, it might be okay. “I’m Akeldama.” She muttered softly. “And as for your question, I suppose that would be determined by what you’d call a proper meal.” During the holidays people tended to eat and waste a lot. So she was getting more than normal. But not nearly enough. “As for the bath…” Akeldama bit her lip, looking away.
The “haunted house” she had taken up residence in didn’t have running water. And anywhere else would be too dangerous to take a bath in. At least that was her feeling. The repulsive grime on her skin was all that she felt could keep her safe. People wouldn’t hurt her if they were too disgusted to even touch her after all.

akeldama... what an interesting name~ azalea listened to what she had to say before a grimace crossed her face, "well, then allow me to be of assistance with the whole meal thing. i could also show you to my favorite bathhouse. It will make you feel fresher, i promise." azalea then thought of the bathhouse that she loved to go to, sure the school provided free bathing, it just was not the same. there was one rather close to the school that had all the colored water you could ever dream of. it also had lots of bubbles if one was interested in that. the smells that it gave off were self-picking, as in you could make the bathhouse smell like whatever you wanted. they also provided plenty of bath salts and essential oils to help reduce whatever you needed to be reduced. removing her hand from the girl's shoulder, she touched the cheek of the hungry. she felt her fingers connect with grimy, pasty skin and instantly she felt a shock. "you deserve to have food and proper bathing. along with rest. if you don't mind my asking, what is your current living situation?" the shock that azalea had felt, had nothing to do with the fact that the girl seemed to not be able to take good care of herself. it was rather the fact that the girl seemed to have a potent magical energy surrounding her. it made azalea feel uneasy in her stomach, as if the woman was cursed. however, the magical energy that the woman had within her seemed to be quite strengthy. "if you also don't mind my asking, what are you? like species-wise. i know in the past it definitely was not okay, and i know because i've lived for quite a lengthy amount of time now. but its now personal opinion, so i thought i would at least ask." |

The girl flinched upon the fairy touching her cheek, unused to human contact as she was. Within her a discontent simmered.
The daemon within had pangs of pity for the simultaneously touch starved and touch fearful street urchin. But there was nothing she could do about it. Nothing she should do about it.
Food Akeldama could get behind. The bath? She wasn’t sure about that, but she could at least get the food. In taking in all of Azalea’s questions she wondered how honest she should be with the woman. Akeldama had grown well accustomed to taking advantage of more charitable people in her childhood years. She’d had little choice but to gravitate towards the helpless people who wanted to help her. And little ability to help herself as her inherent magic slowly but surely destroyed both them and everything they loved.
To tell the truth might get her more out of this woman than not. “I’m homeless.” Was Akeldama’s answer in response to the living situation question. That was a lie. She lived in the Decrepit Mansion that everyone thought was haunted. But she couldn’t go telling people that. Even if they were looking to help her, they might take away the one refuge she’d been able to get for herself that was independent of anyone else. It was a shabby, run down place with no heating, cooling, or running water. But at least it was a roof over her head. At least until her magic destroyed the house too.
There were multiple leaks in the roof. It had been in a pretty bad state before she moved in and now… Akeldama wasn’t sure how much longer it’d last.
“And I’m just human.” Now this, Akeldama did not realize was a lie. For she did not know of the daemon that had taken up residence in her body and occasionally took control of her body, leaving nothing but void memory in that span of time. “If it wouldn’t be too much trouble… The food does sound nice.” She added meekly at the end. Though she was easily in her mid twenties, and six feet easily, the way she carried herself and the fearful look in her eyes did not give the impression of a full grown woman. But more, a fearful child.

with a small shrug, "i can tell why you don't have a home, what do you do during the day? surely you ought to try to find work. have you applied for eldritch academy? i am sure they have scholarships and the like, and it can help you obtain power, along with allowing you to harness abilities that you otherwise would not have. they can teach you to repel curses too, and to reap blessings onto other people. your aura personally is not very healthy, i could tell through my touch, they can help you with whatever troubles you have." azalea raised an eyebrow before waiting to see what else akeldama had to say. nodding her head, she turned away from the girl, "in that case, i know just what to make for you, allow me to use some magic on you?" before the girl could reply, azalea closed her eyes and began to reach far into her mind. her hair began to float as if there was a breeze, when there was not one. opening them again, one would notice the glowing yellow hue they held, however due to her back being turned, akeldama would be unable to tell where the light was coming from. azalea had called out to orion, and within a few seconds he had woken up, and flown to her side, perching on her shoulder. her hair stopped floating and her glowing eyes diminished their light. turning back to akeldama, azalea listened for the girl's reply. |

She nodded in response to the question of if she had applied to the school or not. Best not lie overly much. For all she knew this fairy either went to school there or taught there. With a fairy? Who knew. “I did apply there, yes. But I haven’t picked out what classes and the scholarship stuff is kinda… difficult.”
At least half of them were merit based, and Akeldama didn’t really have any merits to brag about.
That was just sad. Capone sighed within the confines of Akeldama’s mind. Before ending up in this dimension she had wanted to make a change, to try and nurture those lesser than her into something greater. Why did she have to end up in the one body that she couldn’t help? The fact she couldn’t help this soul, lest she cause terrible paradoxes, killed her. Not as much as it should, mind you. But it was taunting.
“What’re you going to do?” Akeldama asked with trepidation.

the uneasiness that the fellow comrade of azalea's felt was only natural. azalea laid her fingers on orion's head and cast a shielding spell so that he could lay at ease. she had been right in that the girl had an evil aura about her. parting her lips, azalea smiled calmingly at her. "i am just going to make our travel easier, i plan to shrink you so that you can ride on orion, and get to my home faster. as walking can be a pain." nodding her head, azalea nonverbally told the girl it would be okay. she let her body drop from the sky, as she had been hovering the entire time, her wings fading as she once again was shorter. the overly tall akeldama had the final say in whether or not azalea could go through with her plan. |

Capone mused for a moment to say something against this, but she opted not to. Shrinking this body down might pose a hazard in regards to the fact that it barely as it was contained her and Akeldama’s aural power. How it was even holding Capone’s in its totality she wasn’t sure. The only guess she could make was that not all of her was in this dimension, but what was was tied to this body.
This body that was about to shrink to tiny… She’d just make a little adjustment on the aura. If it couldn’t all fit within this body, she was going to have to expand it.
Akeldama nodded, heedless of all of Capone’s musings in the back of her mind.
When the fairy shrunk Akeldama down, if she was able to see Akeldama’s area she’d see the aura change and shift. In a normal circumstance Akeldama’s aura stretched to three feet radius of her, about to the tips of her fingers if she were to reach out. It was a yellow and shifting like sand.
Yet as Akeldama was shifted down in size the golden aura shifted outwards, a red, thick miasmic aura pushing it outward. At a mere inch Akeldama’s aura was now six foot in its radius. Capone was suspecting that the fairy might notice this change. Or she might not. It took touching Akeldama the first time for her to notice the warped nature of Akeldama’s magic the first time.
So so long as she made sure Akeldama avoided touching the fairy’s skin… It might be fine. Or she’d just notice the change either by seeing it, or feeling it. Capone’s aura had a distinctly different feeling to those who had the ability to do so, as much as she had had to condense it, it’d be like trying to breath in Florida’s air, times five for the humidity. It was some thicc stuff.

akeldama had nodded, giving azalea permission to use her fairy magic. closing her eyes, she concentrated. a yellow light seeping through the area as it wrapped itself around the tall woman. it soaked into her skin as she began to shrink, azalea opened her eyes to a very small version of the girl. she now stood at 7". grinning, azalea nodded to orion, "go ahead my friend." orion would then fly to the floor, and perch right in front of akeldama, "get on, and he will carry you." azalea thus shrunk down to her fairy form, feeling more comfortable she fluttered her tiny wings to hover nearby. not paying any attention to the aura around akeldama, she awaited for her to get on orion.
once she was settled on orion, azalea would then begin to fly towards her dorm room with orion close behind. the feeling of flying beside her beloved companion, orion made azalea feel happy. the wind guiding them to her room.
getting to her room window, she lifted it with her wind magic and went inside. orion would follow and let akeldama get down, before he perched on one of azalea's many plants around her room. azalea then began the ceremony again, yellow light began to seep out of akeldama's skin as she grew back to the height she had been originally.
azalea returned to her human form as she began to bustle about her room, pulling various things she began to weave everything together with her magic. zapping a few things with lightning they were instantly cooked and served on golden platers. "there~ a meal fit for someone who hasn't had one in a while.~" there was plenty of food to choose from. there was grilled pork sausages, roasted vegetables, a lavish salad, grilled meat of all kinds and even a bowl of strawberries, along with all other kinds of food, "whatever you don't eat you can take with you~"
azalea then went to a nearby glowing plant and plucked off a few of the berries and leaves, making herself some food. she began to eat her own meal as she waited for akeldama to eat with her. |

As they changed back to normal size, the thick molasses-like red aura retreated back into Akeldama’s body, replaced with the golden sandy aura of her norm.
This was going to freak Akeldama out to no end, but Capone was going to totally take Azalea up on that shower offer. Akeldama was going to just have to live with waking up from one of her occasional blackouts when Capone took control squeaky clean. Maybe she could get some cloths while she was here too. They wouldn’t last long, but it was worth getting something better than these ratty cloths.
Akeldama, meanwhile, dove into the food like a wild beast, eating it as quickly as possible before the fairy could change her mind.
